Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern Side

Measuring the distance (D) from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

Note: Some axles rated at 2,000 lbs require a different seal and bearings. Be sure that the bearings in the hub being replaced have L44649 stamped on them. If the bearings have L44643 stamped on them, use 8-258BTUC1 trailer hub.

Note: Trailer wheels that are smaller than 15" and have 5 bolts, have a 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern.

Was rebuilding a jet ski trailer to carry a kayak. I order several parts to include these new hubs. The hubs were great, but the seals were to large for my spindles. Talked to customer service and they shipped me new seals for no additional charge!

The product is great. Customer service was incredibly helpful making sure I got the right equipment. Ive had it over a year and it is functioning perfectly.

I bought a bearing kit for my utility trailer. Parts arrived on time and the cost was considerably expensive than what I found locally. After a year of use, all is well! The trailer is used continuously and I have had zero problems with the new bearings.

Still going strong! The past last year has a typo that I should have caught. The product was considerably LESS expensive from Etrailer than what I found locally. Sorry

by:

This hub assembly was exactly what I needed to update/upgrade my trailer. No missing pieces, which is always a plus. This assembly and some axle grease lengthened the life of the trailer. Another DIY project completed and in use.

I used the trailer w/new hubs for about 5 months. I then had a person interested in the trailer, for the right price, so I sold it.Thank you for the inquiry.

by:

The item was exactly what I ordered. My only concern was that the tires I had on my trailer were 13", and the hubs are labeled as for only 8 to 12" wheels. It didn't make any difference. It was the exact part and replacement that I needed using the old part number scribed into the back of the old hub. Thanks for a great match!

by:

received the Dexter Hub ready for complete installation. Seems like a good value but havent installed it long enough to make any comment about the quality. The original hub stripped 4 of the 5 wheel studs when I tried to remove the wheel , and had to grind the back of the studs off to get the wheel seperated from the hub.

by:

My original hub cracked after I tried to install a replacement wheel bolt. Went up to E trailer and found the replacement hub VERY easily. Their tutorial video also clarified which wheel bearing I should have since the same hub is used in two different weight classes.

UPS ground package came in two days, way ahead of what I was expecting.

It was easier and faster than trying to locate in my area that could order it for me.

This is the second time I have purchased items from E trailer and have nothing but praise for their efforts.

by:

Hi I’m happy with the product not happy with the packing you guys just through the hubs in the box no packing to stop them bouncing around The metal covers they go on the outside of the hub or bent so I’m over here trying to bend them back to get them on the hub

by:

Good product and fast shipping. Customer support was great, I couldn't find what I was looking for made a call to etrailer and they found what I was looking for.

by:

I have a relatively lengthy trip coming up and wanted to have a spare hub with me should a problem develop in route. The offering was comprehensive but I did elect to remove an existing hub to be assured that I knew the actual bearing ID's. That done, selecting the right hub was easy. The price appeared appropriate and I placed an order. The hub was delivered ahead of schedule and in good condition. My only concern is that the hub and bearings were delivered without having been pre packed with grease. Not a deal breaker but it would have been nice. I will likely buy another hub in the spring.

by:

Fit my seadoo boat trailer perfectly. The video on the page was very helpful and the parts a great quality. Dust cap was un useable because it was damaged (possibly from shipping ) the only thing that would make this kit better is if it was pre greased and came with a new pin.
Overall I'm very happy with it. Shipping came exactly the day they said even in a rain storm. Had updates along the way .
Will definitely use them again in the future for all my trailer needs !

by:

Product was delivered on time with no defects. But the best thing was the technical support that was provided. I have made many more purchases after this one and etrailer.com will always be the first place that I shop for trailer parts

by:

Product looks good, shipping was very fast. etrailer was very easy to work with. The instruction video lacked a bit of detail regarding how hard to tap in the inner grease seal (first hub I've ever replaced). I'm still a bit unclear on this...

by:

i was impressed with the speed that my order arrived. The tech was very helpful when the order was placed. I was disappointed that the bearing buddy was only a metal cylinder and did not contain a spring and zert fitting for continuous greasing. One of the packages was missing a black dust cover. One of the so called bearing buddies was bent. One of the spindles had a three eights inch area that was not polished. It looks like a tool broke during manufacturing or a possible defect during the pouring process.

  • Recommended Trailer Hub For An 8" Golf Cart Trailer Wheel
Hey Shane, The hub face extends past the studs on the Trailer Idler Hub for 2K Axle # AKIHUB-545-2-Z by 3/4" so you'll need to switch to a smaller option like the Dexter Trailer Idler Hub Assembly # 8-259-5UC1-EZ. This hub face only extends 1/4" past the studs, which should give you enough clearance for recess of the wheel.

  • What To Do If No Hub Has Inner Bearing L45449
Hi Anthony, I'm sorry to say there are just no trailer hubs that have an L45449 bearing, or one with an equivalent size bearing to fit the spindle. The only option really is to replace the spindle with one that has common bearing sizes, and this will depend on the capacity of your axles. For example, if you have 3,500 lb axles you could use Spindle # TRU74FR with hub # AKIHUB-545-35-EZ-K. Or for 2,000 lb axles you could go with Spindle # TRU44FR and hub # 8-259-5UC1-EZ. • Choosing Idler Hubs to Replace Rusted Brake Hub/Drums on Jet Ski Trailer
Yes, we can help you select compatible idler hubs for your jet ski trailer. Replacement idler hubs (hubs without a brake drum) can be selected by first confirming the axle's weight rating; this should be indicated on a plate or sticker on the axle itself, or on the trailer's VIN sticker. You need to choose hubs that are properly rated for the weight load that will be on them. You also need to match your wheels' bolt pattern. Thanks for the pictures. Either part number hub is going to fit your hub since they both have the same bolt pattern and bearings. The difference is going to be based on the diameter of your trailer wheels. If you have 13-14 inch diameter rims you would want the part # 8-258-5UC1. If you have smaller wheels that are 10-12 inch you would want the # 8-259-5UC1-EZ. The difference is the size of the wheel mounting flange.
