Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

The hidden hitch and wiring harness looks to be of high quality. Hitch looks great on our 2013 Ford Edge.
I sold my truck so any trailer pulling will now be done by the Edge. I only pull a light trailer with a garden tractor etc.

The box got to the house on a Friday and I was putting it together on Saturday morning. The video was very valuable and the written instructions were clear as well. It only took me 15 minutes longer than the suggested time mostly because I was taking my time. Great product and advise.

by:

I am very pleased with my shopping experience with etrailer.com! I have told my family about this site, & I will look at this site first before looking on any other site when I need a product like again.

by:

The product is excellent and the installation videos on their website took all of the guesswork out of it for this "do it yourself-er". Ordering from etrailer.com could not have been easier. They shipped it out the very same day of my online order. I am very satisfied with every aspect of my purchase.

2007 Ford Edge

Fit PERFECT, bolts need a trimI just finished installing the unit on our 2007 Edge.
All the parts were there, but on my ford access to the rear frame openings were plugged, so i fished the bolts n from the outer side frames rails. The bolts included needed a tweak to shave one side of the head flange down so it would fit through the access hole.
Total time as 1 hr and 20 minutes. It was 20F outside so worked slow
I could have enlarged the frame hole, but it only took a minute to grind off a 1/8" off one side of the bolt.

by:
2007 Ford Edge

A nice productI installed this by myself. I used a floor jack to hold it in place (a bit challenging).
I put it on a 2007 Ford Edge in order to use a bike rack carrier.

by:

Was very easy to install! Was pleased with my whole experience from ordering to delivery! The video demo was exactly the way you have to install the hitch! This was my 1st time installing a hitch and was very simple and straight forward. Very happy!

by:
Ford Edge

This is a great hitch. Mounting it to my Ford Edge was pretty straight forward and only took about an hour. I would recommend this hitch to anyone.

by:

Great Hitch, Looks good!I installed it with help and it took 35 min. It has a very CLEAN appearance. One suggestion: when pulling the feed wire through the frame rail I found it much easier and faster to first thread the wire through the bolt hole and then out the opening in the frame rail. Then attach the square washer and bolt and pull them through. This will avoid "fishing" for the wire. Great Product

Great product and shippingThe trailer hitch, wiring harness, installation, etc. was as advertised. Everything arrived and installed great.

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation On A 2011 Ford Edge SEL
We have two Class III hitch receivers available for your 2011 Ford Edge SEL, Curt part # C13067 and Draw-Tite part # 75992. In order to tow a trailer with 2 jet skis, you will need the weight capacity a Class III hitch offers. I recommend the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver as this hitch will not be as visible from above in comparison to the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver. The Draw-Tite Class III hitch is rated for 4000 lbs. of gross trailer weight (GTW) and 400 lbs. of tongue...

  • 2 inch Draw Tite Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2014 Ford Edge
For your 2014 Ford Edge we have two Draw Tite hitches that have a 2 inch opening like the part # 75992 that you referenced. The # 75992 is the correct hitch if your Edge is not a Sport model. If instead you do have a Sport model you'd want the # 75728. These are Class III hitches which have 2 inch openings which I believe is what you are looking for since this is the preferred size for most people. The heat shield will need to be trimmed to install this hitch. I attached a picture that...

  • Trailer Hitch & Wiring for 2014 Ford Edge
Both Draw-Tite and Curt hitches are good quality products. While one given hitch fit may favor one brand over the other in total they both offer excellent products. Curt hitches can sometimes have a nicer powder coat finish, and since they are made in the USA they do offer that appeal. Of the options available I suggest the Draw-Tite 2-inch Class III hitch # 75992 for its lower price and freedom from the Curt requirement of using a support strap with non-trailer loads like bike racks....

  • What Is the Difference Between the Curt Hitch and the Draw-Tite Hitch on a 2010 Ford Edge
Both the Curt Hitch # C13067 and the Draw-Tite Hitch # 75992 are custom fit hitches that are designed to be mounted on to your 2010 Ford Edge. Both hitches are Class III rated and have the 2 inch opening at the hitch. Both the Curt and Draw-Tite Hitches have a gross trailer weight rating of 4,000 lbs and a maximum tongue weight of 400 lbs. Both the Curt and Draw-Tite Hitch have limited life lifetime warranties. Of these two, I recommend the Draw-Tite hitch over the Curt for two reasons....

  • Will the Ground Clearance of the Draw-Tite # 75992 on a 2011 Ford Edge be an Issue When Towing
You should have no issues being able to tow a trailer behind your 2011 Ford Edge Limited after installing the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 75992. You will simply need to find a ball mount that has the correct rise or drop to ensure that it is level. When we installed this trailer hitch on a similar 2011 Edge (see attached video) we found from the ground to the top of the inside of the hitch receiver was about 13-1/2 inches. • Do All Trailer Hitches For 2014 Ford Edge SEL Require Drilling
I can understand not wanting to drill holes to mount a hitch, though the Draw-Tite # 75728 is only a fit the Sport model and will be unable to fit your 2014 Ford Edge SEL. I did double check with the manufacturer for you just to be certain. So to add a hitch to your '14 Edge SEL you will need to drill 17/32" holes in your frame rails for installation. Drilling to install a hitch is something that is pretty frequent and a lot of people do, even in areas there is bad weather, and you can...

  • Class III Hitch For 2008 Ford Edge To Tow A Trailer With Weight Distribution
I recommend to switch the existing hitch to the Draw-Tite instead of using an adapter because adapters cannot be used with weight distribution and they cut the tongue weight rating of the hitch in half. The only Class III hitch available for the 2008 Ford Edge that is designed for the use of a weight distribution system is Draw-Tite hitch part # 75992. • Trailer Hitch and Wiring Harness for 2011 Ford Edge
The Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch # 75992 is a great option for your 2011 Ford Edge though in terms of a wiring harness, there isn't a harness that is an external plug-in or that can be mounted externally unless you do your own modification and find a way to route the harness underneath your Edge. • Hitch and Bike Rack Recommendation for 2013 Ford Edge
For your 2013 Ford Edge the Draw Tite hitch part # 75992 would be the hitch to go with. It's a 2 inch hitch so it would have plenty of capacity for a bike rack or tow a small trailer. I attached an install video for this hitch as well. For a bike rack the Hollywood Racks part # HR200Z is a great deal. It's priced low but is super stable and high quality like the expensive racks.
