Product came in earlier than estimated and in great shape. Here are my 2x4 brackets installed in my trailer. Will put boards on top of the 2x4's and have a shelf for boxes when moving. 672681

I think these are excellent products. I created a tire rack in my car trailer by installing E- track, supplied from E-trailer as well, on both sides of my trailer at a height equal to the height of my track car tires +3" from the top of the trailer. My car's hood actually goes right under near the tire rack and shelves. These E-Track Wood Beam snap into the E-track. I bought 2 - 2"X4"X8' pieces of wood for every beam I installed into the E-track across the trailer. For 6 beams, I need 12-2"x4"x8's of wood. I doubled every beam with 2-2"x4"x8' for strength. To do this, I used 2-1/2" coated deck screws and screwed them together. On both ends, where the 2"x4"x8's rest in these E-track Sockets, I separated the beams with the use of 2 washers per screw. That allows one 2"x4"x8" to slide down and rest in the E-Track Wood Beam Socket. I drilled holes in the beams to match up with the oval shaped holes, and then thru bolted the beams into these E-Track Socket brackets, so that the wood beams are secured in the brackets. The total cost for each beam is approximately $15.00 vs. buying a pre-made AL E-Track beam for app $100. I'm using 6 beams for my needs. 2 beams for the tire rack, and 4 beams to create 2 shelf units. The shelf units will require a sheet of 1" 4'x8' plywood, which I will cut into 2-2'x8' sheets, and screw into the bottoms of the beams with cut outs to go around the E-Track Sockets, to create the shelves. Pretty easy, and pretty cost effective. The trick to this project is taking time to install the E-Track correctly at the correct height, and even as measured side by side. I "measured twice, and drilled once" when installing the E-Track. It's not rocket science, but take your time with it, double check the mounting points, the height, and position, and you'll be very happy with the project. As always, buying all the material from E-Track helped make this project a snap and saved some serious money over the AL E-Track beams! 154761

Everything has worked out perfectly. A beam solution using these e-Track beam brackets designed for wood 2x4s weighs more than an aluminum beam, but it cost less than 110th the price! I built 6 beams, so I saved $500 ! It is worth doing this solution!

If I could give this 10 stars, I would. I'm a High School Band Director who uses a trailer to get instruments from performance venue to school and back. My previous trailer didn't have any E-track hardware and I just did the best we could. There was always a great deal of shifting of equipment during transport. Now that my current trailer has E-track hardware, I can secure all of my equipment easily and quickly reorganize the entire trailer according to the job's requirements. If you've not got E-track, get it. It's more than worth it's cost in saving of time and convenience. 859560

I have a 14 foot flat roof trailer, and live in New England where snow gets wet ad heavy. I searched the internet for solutions, but nothing available. So I used your x-track vertical and e-track wood beam sockets to build an internal ceiling support system to prevent the roof from sagging under the weight of snow. After spending much time looking for solutions on the web, and coming up empty, this simple solution occurred to me. 775818

I used these to build a bunk and shelf unit in my Sprinter van. As I’m a rather big and tall guy I was a little nervous the first time I climbed into the bunk. Between the etrack and these 2x4 supports gave me a great night sleep. For the bunk and later the shelf I used 4 etracks and 4 of these 2x4 supports, and two 6’ 2x4s and a plywood base at 3/4” thick. After I tied everything in the supports were all strong and solid. I could turn over on my side and never felt any rocking motion or unsteadiness. I highly recommend the etrack and the portable 2x4 etrack hangers. 633501

The project worked out very well for about six months. But since then Imhave remodeled my van and built a bunk with storage. I saved the etrack wood beam sockets just in case I come up with another idea for them. They worked great and I’m happy that I kept them.

  • Installing E-Trac To Build Shelves In Fiber Glass Box Truck
There will still be metal studs behind the fiber glass wall in the box truck, so you want to purchase a stud finder that is capable of detecting metal studs to attach your track to. I am not entirely sure what you are trying to build when you mention rafters but it sounds like you may be trying to build a shelf like in the pictures I have attached. You can use the E-Track Wood Beam Socket part # 59149 and horizontal or vertical e-track (depending on what you are trying to accomplish) like...

  • Can Beam Bracket 59149 Be Used to Make a Tailgate on a Trailer
In order to accomplish what you want to do there isn't a better product than the E-Track Wood Beam Socket # 59149. Of course you would need two of them. You wouldn't want to make the tailgate too tall either since it would only be supported at the floor of the trailer.

I went out to the warehouse and pulled the E-Track Wood Beam Socket, # 59149, and I produced a short video showing the dimensions of the E-Track Wood Beam Socket and took some close up video so you can see how the wood beam socket works. There are 4 holes in the socket for attachment to 2X lumber. The two holes on the bottom are centered and positioned at 1/2 inch and 1-3/4 inches in from the inside of the bracket. The two holes in each side of the bracket are positioned at 1-1/8 inch...

  • Using E-Track and # 59149 Wood Beam Sockets to Construct Shelves in Enclosed Trailer
The Erickson # 59149 Wood Beam Socket you mentioned is the only product of its type that we offer. We do not offer a socket that would hold the beam in the way you describe. If you ran short lengths of e-track like # EM59150 on the trailer side walls near the front wall of the trailer, you could use the sockets holding the 2x4s on end going across the front wall of the trailer, but we have nothing that would allow you to run them along the side walls of the trailer. • E-Track Recommendations for Making a Queen Size Bed on Inside of Enclosed Trailer
The correct product to use to support the boards you plan on using to support the bed would be the E-Track Wood Beam Socket # 59149. Since you will want to have the 2 by 4s on edge to support the plywood, and the only way the # 59149 could be installed in this fashion is if the e-tracks are installed horizontally on your trailer walls. I would recommend using two etracks that will be on either side of the trailer interior walls running horizontally at the height that you want the bed...

The E-Track Wood Beam Socket for Standard 2" Lumber # 59149 will most likely work with metal tubes as crossbars as long as they are screwed into place in the same way as the wood is intended to be attached. You will need to determine the correct weight capacity for your custom application. Since you are looking to add kayaks to an open wood framed trailer, I recommend the Malone TopTier Load Bar Kit for Utility Trailers - 250 lbs # MPG493. The box should have metal studs on the interior, along with wood 'rub strips' that run horizontally a couple feet up above the floor. • Installing a Load Stop at Rear of 4 x 8 Foot Trailer
I have a solution that should work pretty well for you. I'd run a strip of E-track like # E19148 along the edges of the trailer, at least at the front and rear of the trailer. The E-track could be used to secure the lumber using a ratchet strap like # SLLS28RER. The straps are sold individually, so you'd want at least two. At the end of the E-Track, you could use a wood beam socket like # 59149 to secure a board like you have shown in the photo. The sockets are sold individually.

  • What is the Difference Between a Vertical and Horizontal E-Track Including the Dimensions
The main difference between the horizontal and vertical E-tracks is which way the slots on the bar run. • Does the E-Track Wood Beam Socket # 59149 Have a Weight Capacity
The E-Track Wood Beam Socket # 59149 that you referenced doesn't have a capacity listed for it because the wood installed in it would break long before it would. To install the vertical E-track sections like the 4 foot section part # E19146 you could use self-tapping screws. I attached an install video for this for you to check out as well.

  • Installing the E-Track Wood Beam Socket For Standard Lumber
Once the E-Track Wood Beam Socket for Standard 2" Lumber - Qty 1 # 59149 has a beam screwed in at both ends, it cannot be removed without unscrewing the wood beam. The beam would need to be lifted straight up and out of the hanger to allow movement and then be screwed back in place in its new location. You will be able to use the same piece of lumber cut to width over and over again, but it will need to be removed to change location of the hangers in the track.

  • How to Size 2 x 4s for Use with Erickson E-Track Wood Beam Socket # 59149
You ask a good question. The Erickson E-Track Wood Beam Socket # 59149 fits in their E-Track (and in other similar cargo control tracks) such that about 1/4- to 1/2-inch of the space between the tracks themselves will be taken up by the socket connection point on each end. This can vary slightly depending on the age, degree of use and brand of the track and socket. So, in other words size your 2 x 4s to allow for about 1/2-inch to 3/4-inch less total length than there is between the...

These are usable with either vertical, horizontal or single-slot E-Tracks. In your application you can use either one of the horizontal track lengths, such as 2-foot # EM59150 or 5-foot # E19148, or one of the other lengths offered, or you can use the single-slot # SLSU or 2-slot # EM19145. There isn't any structural benefit to using vertical E-tracks for this application over the horizontal tracks you are wanting to use. Yes, you can use wood screws to secure the e-tracks to the plywood walls in your trailer. However, as you mentioned the weight capacity would be less than if you were to attach them to metal beams. The tracks themselves can handle up to 2,000 lbs but the weight capacity of the system is always going to be limited to how they are attached.
