2000 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty

Worked as it should, had some missing washers and they were replaced very quickly!

A good place to buy from!

by:

Easy to installEasy to install woth supplied harware and instructions. Why pay a shop $800, when you can do it in one evening?

by:

terrible instructionsif they would spend more time making detailed instructions, sure would have saved me time. Measure twice, cut once

by:

Easy to handleInstructions leave alot to the imagination.. With better instructions this would be as easy as putting a train track together.

by:

Shipplng was very quick with tracking information. Installation was a little difficult based off of directions but went to web site and watched video and was very easy.

by:

Great Kit Easy installThis was great time save and everything lined up great. I have a 6.5' bed and everything was great. Even the clearance between Fifth wheel and cab was great. I can turn with confidence and no slide rail....

by:

Etrailer videos and instruction tips are the best. Would recommend etrailer over the CHEAPEST price just because of the support. You will have a hard time installing the hitch if you do not have the etrailer support.

The product has yet to be installed but the service from this site is excellent. Very happy with the service. Pictures are a great way to sell things and that's what helped me. THAN YOU and your staff for being so quick to process orders and make sure we as consumers get our products so fast and accurate

1999 Ford F-350 Super Duty

Perfect fit on a 1999 F350 2wd with single rear wheels. Only thing not mentioned was on driver side front hole a bolt that was being used for grounding to the frame on both sides. Just had to remove it and replace with one supplied.

Very fast shipping. I put it in with a bud in about an hour and a half. Everything fit great. I believe it's very sturdy, and well designed. Thank you for your support team, they were great. I pull a large 5th wheel camper. I was using a goose neck hitch, but This conversion is much better. Well worth the effort. Thanks..

Great quality. Fit was perfect, and support from e-trailer helped me get un-confused !

by:

Customer service was great - I initially ordered the wrong parts and Jonathon helped me get the right ones ordered and processed the returned parts quickly for a refund.

Installation was a breeze and the fifth wheel has performed flawlessly over the past year - no issues with function.

Main complaint/caution: The paint is VERY poor quality. After 1 year and very little use of my truck, paint in the rails is flaking off in big chunks. I imagine I could peel the whole thing with a plastic spatula. The brackets are showing a bit of rust as well.

I would recommend to anyone why cares about appearance that they first sandblast and paint these items (w/ a quality coating) prior to installation.

by:
2002 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty

Works like it was intended. Had some problems with bolt placements. Nothing though that couldn't be solved with some extra thinking. I had a sprayed bed liner and did not take that in consideration of my measurements. Bolt off approximately one eighth of an inch. Only problem. Just had to enlarge the hole slightly. Took about 3 hours to complete. Everything else was fine and dandy. Only advice would be to double check all measurements and take your time. You do have to drill the frame one hole on each side if I do remember correctly. Have fun.

Ford F-350 Super Duty

Really like how the brackets attach to the frame and match the frame holes on my F350. Took a little bit to sort out the parts and figure out what went where as the written directions don't really tell you what to use. The schematic is pretty detailed but like I said don't be in a hurry to install and review the schematic before installing. I recommend you have a helper, did it myself which made it take longer but, that tells you how it isn't that difficult to install if you have some experience turning a wrench. I am by no means a mechanic!!
The customer service was outstanding specifically, Lexus!! She was a pleasure to talk to and I believe the product she recommended is better than what I was originally going to select. She really helped as I have never pulled a fifth wheel before just travel trailers and really didn't know what was best for my truck .It seemed like it shipped within hours and I received in a couple days!! Highly recommend them!

by:

This is a well-made installation kit and it's pretty easy to install if you're somewhat mechanical and even easier with a helper. Very good buy for the money.

The instructions aren't great, but they're at least comprehensible and it's not too difficult to figure out what you need to do using simple logic.

The only required tool you probably don't have have in your tool box is a step drill bit that goes down to 1/2". You need this to enlarge two holes in your truck's frame, one on each side. It's actually really easy; the step bit makes it a cinch, but you NEED the step bit to accomplish this. The step bit is also handy for drilling through the bed. Using it was much easier than making the attempt with a regular straight bit.

by:
1999 Ford F-250 Super Duty

The custom installation kit worked great in my 1999 F-250. It was very helpful to watch the installation videos first so I had a good idea how to proceed. The video's also helped because the written instructions were a little hard to follow. Total time for installation was 2.5 hours.

by:

Easy installation and all the custom fit shims for a tight fit.

Suggest providing a hole in the aft end of the Bracket to allow drilling a hole into the frame for a stronger fit than the square hole.

by:

This kit is a good quality kit, however the installation directions were poorly written. It was hard to see which bolts when into which holes in the truck frame. Only 2 holes in the frame had to be drilled larger.

by:
2003 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty

Fit was execelent, made the job much quicker than using the universal kit. Well worth the extra money for the time savings.

by:
2002 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty

Item was as described. I installed this the same day I received. Easy installation.

by:

Package job was excellent. Arrived within 3 business days. It would be helpful to have a link to one of the instructional videos online.

by:

Installed easily on the F 250. Matched up great. These people have really dome there homework.

  • Fifth Wheel Hitch Recommendation for 2000 Ford F-250 Short Bed
For fifth wheel towing height clearance you want at least 6 inches between the bed rails and the trailer overhang while the trailer sits level to avoid bed rail interference on elevation changes. Now what I suspect you are really interested in is turning clearance since you have a short bed truck and they typicallyneed a slider hitch to allow the trailer to slide without hitting the nose of it to the cab of the truck. So for a slider hitch that would work well we have the Reese part #...

  • Can Air Bag Supports Be Installed On Top Of Reese Fifth Wheel Installation Kit, # 50043-6008
When installing any fifth wheel installation kit to a vehicle, we cannot recommend to attach any additional brackets to the install kit. When anything else is attached to the fifth wheel installation kit it can put extra load on the brackets that it was not designed for. On the Reese Fifth Wheel Installation Kit, # 50043-6008, the brackets will install on the outside of the frame on the 2002 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty. The least expensive fifth wheel trailer hitch we carry to fit your 2004 Ford F-250 with the 6-3/4 foot bed is the Reese Sliding Hitch # RP30051. The reason the hitches that are compatible with your truck are more expensive isn't because of the weight capacity, it's because you have a short bed truck, which requires a sliding hitch in order to have enough clearance to make sharp turns. That is unless your fifth wheel trailer has a Revolution or Sidewinder pin box. To install a hitch in...

There are a couple ways you can go about doing what you want to do. If you want a fifth wheel hitch that will work in standard base rails on your truck and will pivot so you can hook up at an angle I recommend a hitch like the Curt Q24 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch, part # C16245. For both of the hitch rail combos you are considering the wiring kit is sold separately. The wiring kit I would recommend for either combination is the Curt Wiring Kit part # C56000. The Reese Hitch part # RP30051 is a great economical option for a fifth wheel hitch. The difference between the two custom rail kits you referenced is that one is an inboard install kit, part # RP50082-58 and the other is a outboard kit part # 50043-6008. The outboard kit will be a bit easier to install but...

I'd recommend a round tube hitch that would offer a smoother ride such as the 16K, part # RP30051. A hitch with a round tube will make towing a much more enjoyable experience. When it comes...
