I bought the redarc controller for my 2023 Ranger from Ford but this adapter from etrailer. There is a bunch of video online for installing it and it went in without a hitch. Works great.

by:

The Redarc works great, the only down-side is the button didn't fit my 2021 toyota and I had to buy a different one in order to engineer it it fit. I complained and etrailer paid the shipping. A correctly sized part from Redarc would have been appreciated. Instructions and product worked great.

by:

Saved about 200.00 using this with the Tow-Pro by RedArc over using this OEM trailer controller. Set ups easy (hardest part is removing the 12v battery supply), nothing a screwdriver and snips can't fix. Install took less then 30 minutes using the TPH - 022 harness for the Gladiator. Looks very professional.

by:

One year, hasn't fallen out or gotten loose, so looks like a win. Plus, the placement of the trailer brake control knob in the location of the 12V port is just perfect. My hand naturally falls right there when I need to make an adjustment, and it's also out of the way so I don't touch it when I don't want to.

Still going strong, still solidly mounted in the dash. I have hit the dial with my knee a couple times getting in or out since my previous review, but its really a non issue since I know what number I start with on the dial.

by:

Does its job. Allows controller dial to be installed in a cigarette light/accessory port with no drilling

Still working great! Does its job: it holds the dial in its place in place of one of my 12v outlet holes that I wasnt using. Makes a clean install.

by:

This item fit perfectly in what used to be a 12 V socket. Now my red arc trailer breaking is easily in reach.

by:

Exactly what I needed, fits 12v outlet hole perfectly when utilizing that space on a factory panel.

by:

Bought this to mount in my 2020 Ranger as shown in the etrailer Redarc install video! Worked as described!
Thanks for pointing out a great alternative install location!

by:

This item was ordered and shipped through usps. The package arrived damaged and with a half bottle of shampoo, but no plug. A simple call and I was sent another through ups. It arrived in a timely manner and the envelope was in good condition. Took about 2 minutes to install. Thank you for going above and beyond. A great buying experience!

by:

Fit into the opening where my cig lighter was on my 2006 chevy

by:

Good day after a couple tries the round mounting plate was my best option I was replacing the dash insert with the electronic OEM brake controller plate that I found out would not work because my truck didn't have the RCM program so I bought the radic brake controller I took apart the OEM brake controller to get a piece of the plastic to make a plate then I cut out the OEM Dash plate to accept the piece of plastic and then cut that out to accept the round mounting plate ran all the wires everything works I'm going to attach a couple pictures or a few pictures to show what I did there is no direct replacement mounting plate for the small storage box on the OEM plate that was in there or replacing the OEM electric brake module there was no plate to fill that in so I made one myself probably not the finest work because I am very seeing impaired but you'll see in the pictures this is what it looks like thanks again everybody at the trailer for all your help and Jamie and I will attach the pictures

by:

I purchased this brake controller because it is the same controller Ford sells for the current Ranger. The instructions and videos from etrailer were super helpful. For someone that never had used a brake controller before this one is easy to use , and it works perfectly.

by:

Needed a trim piece for my '94 Dodge Ram 1500. I knew this wasn't an exact fit but with a little Dremel work and a hot glue gun I think it turned out looking pretty good. I replaced the lower cigarette lighter with the trailer brake controller switch.

by:

I replaed one of the 12 volt power ports in my Ranger with a brake controler. This fit perfectly

by:

Great alternative to the square plate provided, particularly because of where I’m mounting my switch.

by:

This adapter made installing the controller a breeze except that it was a little loose in the existing hole. A bit of plastic cement fixed that issue. I should also mention that the Red Arc brake modulator was also easy to install and works as promised.

by:

I know the listing doesn't say anything about a 2021 ford ranger, but it fit just fine after I removed one of the two 12v sockets in the dashboard. Looks good and works great.

by:

Looks stock in a Ford Ranger. Ford should use these if you buy the “factory” brake controller instead of the spot they install it above he hood release.

by:

Installed this mounting panel in the 12v outlet in my 2021 Ford Ranger, found on the instrument console. A perfect fit. Looks like OEM!

by:

Makes it easy to replace the lighter socket in my Jeep Gladiator. I wished the letter was white so it matched the rest of the interior. Additional, it has a lip on the rear that makes it stuck off the dashboard a bit. I would recommend the unit.

by:

Product worked great for my 2020 Ranger. It mounted perfectly under the dash and put the controller in the spare 12V socket. Looks good.

by:

Very easy installation and after very little trimming it went in my 12V socket. (Internals were disconnected and removed)
Truck is 2020 Ford Ranger

by:

Very good brake controller but very sensitive to any changes in intensity

by:

Fits very well, looks like came out in jeep

by:

It great in my ford ranger 12 volt plug and look like I came from the factory just like that.

  • Does Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller Fit 2021 Ford Ranger
The Redarc # RED24FR Tow-Pro Liberty will indeed work just fine with your 2022 Ford Ranger, because brake controllers aren't a vehicle specific piece of equipment. In addition to the controller itself, you'll also need the wiring pigtail, part # RED69FR. The pigtail will wire up with the tow package wiring located under the dash to the left of the steering column as shown in the provided photo and linked video. The tow package wiring consists of a yellow wire with an orange stripe, a blue...

  • Wire Location for Installing Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Brake controller to 2022 Ford Ranger W/ OEM 7-Way
Yes, the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Trailer Brake Controller # RED44FR can be installed on your 2022 Ford Ranger. There will be 4 wires sticking out the of large mix of wires coming through the firewall behind your brake pedal. These all have shrink tubing on the ends and carry the functions needed to install the Tow-Pro Elite. We actually had the chance to do this same install on a 2019 Ranger that I'm linking for you to check out. When we did this install we used the Mounting Panel # 331-TPSI-003...

You will not have to turn off any safety systems on your 2021 Ford Ranger Lariat to be able to use the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Trailer Brake Controller # RED44FR. Standard interior panel thicknesses will work great with the Mounting Panel for Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Trailer Brake Controller Control Knob # 331-TPSI-003. The outer diameter of the smallest round part of # 331-TPSI-003 is 1-1/16 inches. That's not counting the tabs or the beveled section and is shown by the red arrow. I think that's what you're asking about. If not let me know. With that being said at the top of that is a notch that makes it so the hole you drill may need to be larger. From top to bottom with the notch it measures 1-1/8, just like the tabs, and is shown with the yellow arrow.

The Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Trailer Brake Controller # RED44FR you were looking at is a great choice for your 2020 Ford Ranger Lariat.
