Five stars..purchased this winch to minimize effort to haul in my 18ft Fourwinns when the trailer angle/submergence makes for a tougher reloading. The two speeds allow for an easier retrieval when winching the boat onto the trailer.
Literally cranking takes half the effort to retrieve my boat.
The foot print of mounting on my existing winch stand was easy, required drilling a few extra holes to secure, but is solidly mounted using only 3 bolt/nuts.
I also camouflaged painted the winch to offset the “new shiny” appearance against theft when trailer is parked at the marina’s.

by:

Excellent winch. Never quits.

It
is being used on an Eagle Trailer with bunk boards. The boat is a 21 foot Sea Ray which weighs 5,000 lbs loaded.

The winch winds the boat up ver easy.

Continued great use of this trailer winch. My boat weighs 7,700 lbs. This winch holds it securely all the time

by:

Well at first i was a little concerned because the factory container box was mangled. The shipping box was fine. It seemed ok. Installed and seems to be fine

by:

package was delivered in very good condition, the winch went on exactly like the old one with no problems, and work like a charm.

by:

Finally a boat winch with some muscle! I replaced the factory strap with a 10000# lifting sling.

by:

The well made product was received as expected but the package arrived with parts sticking out of the box. The product was in the manufactures thin walled cardboard box wrapped in clear shipping tape. A product of this weight and expense should be double boxes to the customer. Other than the shipping issue, the whole process of buying from this company was excellent and working with several people of the organization was very complete. Everyone I spoke with was professional and very helpful. I would recommend etrailer to anyone interested...Thank you.

by:

Why are your pacakges always so torn up?? It looks like the pacakges were put threw a grinder as the boxes are all broken up., I don't even know if the pieces inside are complete as there are holes everywhenre and the lids are not even taped together.

I wonder the same thing sometimes. Goodness gracious, these arrived in rough condition. Have you had a chance to check and make sure everything is still there?

by:

It was an easy purchase. Spoke with Ashley who sent me options by email. I was able to look at the mounting holes and pick the right winch. It arrives in three days. Easy and quick and I would highly recommend using etrailer.com

by:

This winch works very well actually is much better and has more capacity than the original winch that came with the trailer.

by:

Much heavier than what was on the trailer. Havent had it in the water yet to use but have moved it around. Seems like a good addition. Easy install.

Great. Sold the Chapparral and bought a Nitro. Moved the winch to the Nitro trailer. Its much stronger than the OEM. This was a good purchase.

by:

I don't think you could pull the whole boat up with it. But it works fine for keeping boat latched.

by:

Great winch. Strongly made it worked great for my 260 Sea Ray on a roller trailer. I first bought a cheap winch from Amazon. The gears stripped right off. Don't be fooled, the picture of the winch on Amazon looks just like this one but it has a suspiciously low price. This winch is bigger, stronger and every piece of it is better made than the cheap ones from Amazon. Definitely worth the cost.

by:

I purchased this winch a year ago. It has worked flawlessly and easily pulls my 20Ft center console onto the trailer with no problem. My only complaint would be some minor surface rust on one of the bolts. I guess that is to be expected in a saltwater environment. Overall a good purchase.

by:

This winch was exactly as described and works flawlessly.

by:

Works great on my 23 foot boat. Was easy to install. I like it a lot better than the winch that came with the boat trailer.

by:

It fell apart the second time I tried to pull the boat on the trailer and parts fell into the lake so I had to go to the hardware store to gerry rig it to make it work, I have to slip a bolt behind the break lever every time I use it

by:

Thank you for sending replacement winch that lost in transit.

by:

I am using the four winches I bought in a gantry system to lift a classic wooden boat and roll it over to restore the bottom; and they work as I had hoped! Perfect for what I needed

by:

Works great. No problems yet.

by:

Perfect fit, easy install

by:

Does the job, my brother in law says its the best winch he has ever used, but I don't think he has used that many.

by:

Great winch! The dual speeds is a game changer, the large gear quickly takes up the strap slack and starts it on the trailer. The small gear effortlessly pulls it up to the wench. If you have a heavier boat or one you load up with weight, you won't be disappointed with this wench.

by:

Your product met our customer's need. Shipped and received as promised. Thank you.

  • Boat Trailer Winch that Has Capacity for 18,000 lb Boat
With boat winches you generally only need 50 percent of the boats weight as the winch's weight capacity. So for a 18,000 lb boat like you have you'd need a winch with at least a 9,000 lb capacity. For that we have the Fulton XLT Powered Winch part # F500621 which has a 10,000 lb capacity and would be your best option. The strap is only 15 feet long though so you'd need to make sure you could get the boat within 15 feet from being fully on the trailer.

  • Shorter Handle For Jif Marine 2-Speed Boat Trailer Winch # 315-W3200D
When it comes to getting a shorter handle for The 2-Speed Boat Trailer Winch with 20' Strap and Brake - 3,200 pounds # 315-W3200D The Replacement Handle for Dutton-Lainson Single Speed Hand Winch - 7 inch Long # DL70305 mounts to the same size shaft and the handle is 3 inches smaller then the handle that came with it. I attached a review video link below.

  • Can Strap from Jif Marine Winch Come From Bottom of Drum
Yes, the strap on the # 315-W3200D can be installed so that it comes from the bottom instead of the top. However, doing so will reverse the switch and the direction you turn the handle for operation. The self-locking mechanism will work either way. The orientation you are describing with the drum facing the boat is how the winch is typically installed on a boat trailer.

  • Winch Recommendation for 3,190 lb Boat
The 3,200 lb 2-Speed Boat Trailer Winch with 20' Strap and Brake # 315-W3200D will be sufficient to pull in your 3,190 lb boat if your trailer has rollers on it as that will make your boat easier to move. If you have bunks then it will technically work but you'll be pushing the winch to the limit so you'll want to use a winch with a higher weight rating like this one: - 3,700 lb Fulton High-Performance 2-Speed Trailer Winch with Handbrake # F142430 - Fulton Galvanized Winch Cable with...

  • Strap Winch for Boat Trailer with Rollers
You can use a strap type winch instead of a cable winch so long as your trailer's rollers are in good shape and the weight of your 28-ft Cuddy is not more than 3-times the winch's rating. Rollers allow you to use a winch rated for as low as 1/3 of the boat weight. I suggest the 2-Speed Boat Trailer Winch # 315-W3200D which is rated for 3200-lbs and which has a 20-foot strap.

  • How To Determine Fit of the 3,200 Lb 2-Speed Boat Trailer Winch
The 2-Speed Boat Trailer Winch part # 315-W3200D is an excellent upgraded 3,200 lb winch for a boat trailer. In regards to mounting, not all winches use the same pattern so you'd need to compare the dimensions in the photo below to what you have now. I would not think any welding or cutting would be required but worse case you may need to drill a few holes.

  • Will the 2-Speed Boat Trailer Winch with 20' Strap Work On a 21' Long Boat
The 2-Speed Boat Trailer Winch with 20' Strap part # 315-W3200D is an excellent option for a 21 foot long boat. Generally speaking, you'll want the strap to match the length of the boat or close so this is a great option. In regards to weight, the rollers will help significantly with this so there will be no issues even with heavier boats.

  • Recommended Hand Crank Trailer Winch and Jack for 6K Boat
The general rule we use for selecting a boat trailer winch is 2:1 which means for a 6,000 lb boat we'd recommend a 3,000 lb winch. The Jif Marine 2-Speed Trailer Winch part # 315-W3200D is a great option for this rated at 3,200 lbs. It comes with a strap and clevis hook as well, pre-installed. It also has a two-speed operation, one for speed and one for power. You'd simply un-bolt the the old winch, drill a few holes for the new pattern, then bolt the new one in place. • Replacement for Shelby 5408B Boat Trailer Winch
The Jif Marine 2-Speed Trailer Winch part # 315-W3200D would be an excellent option to replace the Shelby 5408B Winch (1,900 lbs). It has a 3,200 lb capacity which will be suited for boats up to two times this so there should be no issues with the winch prematurely wearing down. It comes with a strap as well so no need to install one.

  • Troubleshooting A Fulton T3205 Winch That's Sticking When Extending The Strap
Hey Pat, It sounds like either the hand brake is catching or your gears may be worn or have some debris stuck in them, giving you a hard time releasing the strap. The spring for the parking brake is likely worn and allowing the brake to slot back in just enough to give you trouble. If so, you can replace the handbrake and spring with part # F501210. You can also spray some white lithium grease on the gears to help lubricate them without attracting dirt and debris. Aside from that you...

For your 6500lb boat I highly recommend the Jif Marine 2-Speed Trailer Winch # 315-W3200D which has 2 speeds like you were looking for, and the 3200lb capacity will be plenty to pull your boat onto the trailer. In addition the polyester strap will hold up better than a cable for a marine application, not to mention the additional safety that should the strap snap, it would not be nearly as dangerous as a cable flying around. • Solutions for Fulton T3700 Winch with Broken Cable
The current version of your Fulton T3700 is the part # F142430 which is a cable-only winch like what you have. Best options I have would be a new cable for yours that is broke like with part # FWC7500100 for a 50 foot cable or to go with a new winch that uses a strap instead like the Jif Marine part # 315-W3200D which has a similar 3,200 lb capacity. Only downside to the straps is they aren't as long as the cables since the layers add up quicker. This comes with a 20 foot long strap.
