Video Transcript for Draw-Tite Ball Mount Review - 2013 Honda Odyssey

Today on our 2013 Honda Odyssey, we'll be test-fitting the Draw Tite ball mount with three quarter-inch rise or two-inch drop part number 2923. To begin our test-fit we'll go ahead and get our hitch height. This is measuring from the ground to the inside top edge of our receiver tube. We have a hitch height of two inches. Now we'll go and pick our ball mount and install it in the drop position. We'll just line up the pinhole and then insert our pin and clip.

Our drop position measurement is nine-and-a-half inches. This is measuring from the ground to the ball platform. Make sure when measuring your trailer height you do so when your trailer is level. You want to measure from the ground to the bottom of the coupler. If your measurement matches ours, then this would be a correct fit for you.

Now we'll take our ball mount and switch it to the rise position. We'll just line up the pin hole and then install our pin and clip. Our rise position measurement is 13 inches. If this measurement matches yours, then this would be a good fit for you. That completes our test-fit of the Draw Tite ball mount with three quarter-inch rise or two-inch drop part number 2923 on our 2013 Honda Odyssey..

Sorry I did not write back sooner, it’s has been a busy October. I really like everything that I bought. So far I have only used the hitch for my bike rack. But I am planning on using a friends trailer for some yard work and home project jobs. I am a welder by trade and everything is well built and as expected, no issues with anything. I especially like how easy the electrical was to connect to the factory harness. My friend who owns the trailer recently bought another truck and with my recommendation he also purchased a trailer hitch and the other parts he needed from etrailer.com. I have recommended etrailer.com to literally everyone I know. I really like the products and will be a return customer.

I was just rear ended in my suv. During the accident the Hitch ball mount was bent. As usual I visited the etrailer web site so I could purchase another one. That has to be one of the nicest quickest web site I have been on. Thank you it was extremely easy to find and order. Delivery was very quick. Thanks again. 676916

Purchased a can of BP Blaster penetrating spray the day after I ordered the parts. I sprayed the weld nuts several times while waiting for the parts to arrive and it seemed to help loosen them up. My order arrived on time and I installed the hitch the next morning. I installed the hitch by myself ( I'm 67 years old), and while I admit that an extra set of hands would have been very helpful, the install was easier than I anticipated. I had all the parts I needed, the instructions were easy to follow and the online video was very helpful. I purchased the hitch in order to tow a trailer with a ton of wood pellets, instead of getting 1/2 a ton at a time (the capacity of my truck). Hopefully these products will solve my problem, only time will tell. 392664

Product as advertised. Wished I'd paid more attention to what was included and not included. Seller web site did a good job indicating other suggestions on what would go with what you were viewing. So much so, I became dependent on it, and over looked the fact that the pin to hold the ball mount was not included in either the receiver or ball mount. I overlooked this and had to go out and buy this somewhere else. Other than that ordering was easy, and I received everything in a timely manner. It's worth noting that their tracking was dead on as well. It's nice tracking the progress of a package you are waiting for so you can plan your installation. And again, they do a nice job of following up letting you know they received, shipped the order and a link to follow it in transit. 147675

Fastest delivery I have ever had. Ordered Wednesday at 5PM, arrived Thursday at 3PM. I'm only a couple hundred miles from Wentzville, but still, excellent. The hitch receiver (2008 Pilot) installed quickly and easily. No need to remove spare or lower muffler. I supported the left end on a large cooler and quickly maneuvered the right side above the tail pipes. The mounting holes were right on target. I had to tap mine to remove rust, but that's easy as well. The wiring harness was also a snapto install. Simple to plug into existing fitting and the wiring box tucked away nicely beneath the trim as advertised. There are options about what to do with the wiring tail and trailer connector. I chose the method shown in the video...leave it rubber-banded in the storage well. Others have run it outside through available holes, but I did not want to leave it exposed to road grime. etrailer's videos were very detailed and shown on my specific vehicle for both the hitch and the wiring harness. Good values as well. If I were Draw-Tite (or Curt) I would include a complementary rubber plug with their logo...cheap advertising. 430539

Very nice hitch. This is my third hitch purchase from etrailer.com and as usual, delivery was fast and the install went smoothly. The videos and user comments were very helpful. My vehicle is a few years old so the suggestion to chase the 8 mounting nut holes was spot on. There was a lot of mud and dirt which easily came out but would have been a pain to do while mounting the hitch. Also, the suggestion to spray down the rubber exhaust hangers and muffler heat shield bolts with penetrant (WD40) helped as well. The recommended draw bar and 4-wire harness also mounted beautifully. Got to love those factory installed rear wire harnesses which allow plug-in trailer harnesses on the Honda/Acura products. Total install took about 90 minutes which I think will be typical for a DIY'er who sprays down the bolts, chases the holes and without rushing or using air tools. Will buy again from etrailer.com 60422

Ask the Experts about this Draw-Tite Ball Mounts

  • Is it Okay for Ball Mount to Move in Trailer Hitch Receiver Some
What you are describing is actually pretty normal for a ball mount. There is almost always some tolerance between the trailer hitch receiver and the ball mount (or accessory) being installed which is why there are a variety of anti-rattle devices out there. Some accessories and ball mounts come with them built-in but if you have a standard ball mount there are aftermarket anti-rattle devices you can use. Technically the tolerance you have is fine but if you want to get rid of it we do have...

If you measure from the center of your hitch pin hole rearward 15-3/4-inches that point will be where the center of the hitch ball hole will be. Do note however that this ball mount is rated for 6000-lbs gross trailer weight and 600-lbs...

The second measurement is going to be from the ground to the bottom of your trailer coupler when your trailer is level. This is going to be your coupler height. The difference between the two weights is the tongue weight. You will want to make sure you trailer will be loaded as it normally would be when towing to get an accurate number. Typically a fifth...

I am not familiar with the ball mount you are describing. The best method for eliminating hitch rattle is to make the shank of the ballmount fit as tightly as possible, stopping any movement. You are correct, you will want to measure for the ball mount without the trailer in place because you will want to measure for the ball mount while the truck is at the natural suspension height. • Will Using a Longer Ball Mount Give Me Less Tongue Weight Capacity
Fortunately, this is a case where any lost tongue weight capacity will be negligible (unless you add a severely long ball mount). But you are correct; adding adapters or extensions can cut your tongue weight capacity by 50 percent in many cases. But the good news is for this application, carrying a towing bike rack, you will not have to worry about losing tongue weight capacity. I recommend the # 40343 Ball Mount.
