Purchased a can of BP Blaster penetrating spray the day after I ordered the parts. I sprayed the weld nuts several times while waiting for the parts to arrive and it seemed to help loosen them up. My order arrived on time and I installed the hitch the next morning. I installed the hitch by myself ( I'm 67 years old), and while I admit that an extra set of hands would have been very helpful, the install was easier than I anticipated. I had all the parts I needed, the instructions were easy to follow and the online video was very helpful. I purchased the hitch in order to tow a trailer with a ton of wood pellets, instead of getting 1/2 a ton at a time (the capacity of my truck). Hopefully these products will solve my problem, only time will tell. 392664

Product as advertised. Wished I'd paid more attention to what was included and not included. Seller web site did a good job indicating other suggestions on what would go with what you were viewing. So much so, I became dependent on it, and over looked the fact that the pin to hold the ball mount was not included in either the receiver or ball mount. I overlooked this and had to go out and buy this somewhere else. Other than that ordering was easy, and I received everything in a timely manner. It's worth noting that their tracking was dead on as well. It's nice tracking the progress of a package you are waiting for so you can plan your installation. And again, they do a nice job of following up letting you know they received, shipped the order and a link to follow it in transit. 147675

Sorry I did not write back sooner, it’s has been a busy October. I really like everything that I bought. So far I have only used the hitch for my bike rack. But I am planning on using a friends trailer for some yard work and home project jobs. I am a welder by trade and everything is well built and as expected, no issues with anything. I especially like how easy the electrical was to connect to the factory harness. My friend who owns the trailer recently bought another truck and with my recommendation he also purchased a trailer hitch and the other parts he needed from etrailer.com. I have recommended etrailer.com to literally everyone I know. I really like the products and will be a return customer.

Fastest delivery I have ever had. Ordered Wednesday at 5PM, arrived Thursday at 3PM. I'm only a couple hundred miles from Wentzville, but still, excellent. The hitch receiver (2008 Pilot) installed quickly and easily. No need to remove spare or lower muffler. I supported the left end on a large cooler and quickly maneuvered the right side above the tail pipes. The mounting holes were right on target. I had to tap mine to remove rust, but that's easy as well. The wiring harness was also a snapto install. Simple to plug into existing fitting and the wiring box tucked away nicely beneath the trim as advertised. There are options about what to do with the wiring tail and trailer connector. I chose the method shown in the video...leave it rubber-banded in the storage well. Others have run it outside through available holes, but I did not want to leave it exposed to road grime. etrailer's videos were very detailed and shown on my specific vehicle for both the hitch and the wiring harness. Good values as well. If I were Draw-Tite (or Curt) I would include a complementary rubber plug with their logo...cheap advertising. 430539

My order arrived in two days. I am impressed both by the layout and functionality of etrailer website and by the quick, free shipment. The hitch for my 20007 Hyundai Santa Fe is well made, well finished and fit perfectly. The estimated installation time of 30 minutes would probably have been accurate had I not had to clean 3 years worth of rust from the mounting nuts installed by the factory. Once clean (no simple task since reaching them with a 10m/1.25 tap was difficult) mounting the tow bar was simple and made easier with a pair of jackstands. Owing to the design and location of the mounts, reaching them required the use of different ratchet extensions and flexible joints and I'm not certain of the accuracy of any torque reading. In summary, I am pleased with the product and impressed by the follow-up from etrailer. I will recommend them without hesitation. 6436

I searched the internet to put a hitch on my 2016 Chevy Equinox and found an instructional video from eTrailer.com where they installed on my exact car. I decided to go with eTrailer.com because they answered all my questions and because of the video-I support businesses that go the extra mile with these videos. Shipping was quick and well tracked, however, the box was flimsy and the one end of the hitch had come out of the box side and the ball mount could have easily come out of that hole during shipping. If I were eTrailer.com I'd charge an extra couple of bucks for more sturdy boxes-people will still buy as eTrailer is a well-trusted brand and this would overcome a lot of the negative reviews you'll see on their site about this shipping issue in their own reviews :-) I installed the hitch by myself (definitely recommend help as two people holding it up to the frame makes attaching 100% easier) in about 45 minutes total (out of the box, read instructions, review video again and installation complete). All hardware went on with no issues. Great quality hitch! I also bought the lesser expensive wiring assembly because most recent equinox's come hitch ready with pre-wired assembly in the left side compartment-snap and done. Picked up a new trailer at Home Depot within days and drove 5 feet and the clacking was horrible. I had always had a welded hitch before buying a hitch that took a ball mount. I really thought something was wrong and when I searched the internet that night it turns out this is very common. However, all you need is some sort of hitch "silencing" device. The number of options will drive you mad but I went with the Roadmaster Quiet Hitch and it did the trick for much less than most of the other options. If I were eTrailer.com I'd have that as one of the RECOMMENDED add-ons and explanation why its super-worthy when customers are buying a hitch. Would have saved me the time and hassle of dealing with it later and the extra shipping charge for buying after the fact when I got free shipping for the other items the first time :-) All in all, I'm super, super happy with my hitch, wiring assembly, ball mount, ball mount locking pin and the hitch silencer. Strong and seems to be well made and well finished. One-inch ball mounting hole. I used this for a Curt hitch mounted on a 2014 Forester and pulls a small Harbor Freight trailer. Perfect height and trailer is level. Warning - don't get their hitch pin, it does not have a hole for a cotter pin, only a weak clip that I would not trust. 108040

Still going strong. I use it to pull a 4x8 utility trailer. Also sometimes plug a hitch carrier into it when I want to haul a few bags of mulch or a couple of propane cylinders or gas cans.

Very nice hitch. This is my third hitch purchase from etrailer.com and as usual, delivery was fast and the install went smoothly. The videos and user comments were very helpful. My vehicle is a few years old so the suggestion to chase the 8 mounting nut holes was spot on. There was a lot of mud and dirt which easily came out but would have been a pain to do while mounting the hitch. Also, the suggestion to spray down the rubber exhaust hangers and muffler heat shield bolts with penetrant (WD40) helped as well. The recommended draw bar and 4-wire harness also mounted beautifully. Got to love those factory installed rear wire harnesses which allow plug-in trailer harnesses on the Honda/Acura products. Total install took about 90 minutes which I think will be typical for a DIY'er who sprays down the bolts, chases the holes and without rushing or using air tools. Will buy again from etrailer.com 60422

After being told it would cost around $1300 to install a trailer hitch I figured I would just rent a truck if I needed to pull a trailer. When I saw your ad I was in but was concerned that it would be too complicated to install myself. I turned out to be super simple including the electrical wiring. I'm recovering from a knee joint replacement so was concerned I couldn't get where I needed to be to get the job done but it was a breeze. Everything works beautifully and is solid as a rock. Thanks for such an exceptional DIY product. Now if you have a hitch for my other car, a 1962 Willys Utility Wagon. I'd like one. 611830

Well there you go! I thought this part came from Arbor fate and apparently it's one of yours. So I don't know if the shaft is too small or the receptacle on the trailer hitch is too big, but it rattles like a son of a gun driving down the road. I resolved it with a liberal use of electricians tape around the shaft but the heat and wear causes that to need to be replaced regularly. Perhaps it's just 64th of an inch too small, but it seems pretty loud to me, and I don't have the world's best hearing 588534

just as described on their web site. Fits the trailer hitch and very satisfied. Only thing I would recommend being purchased with the trailer hitch is instead of the normal pin with carter pin. I would advise purchasing a key locking pin so that no one can steal your draw-tite ball mount and also steal the replacement mount you purchase that slides into the slot when towing anything, People have had there College Logos stolen because they did not have a key locking pin to avoid anyone just walking up undoing the carter pin, pulling the pin and walking away with those and the hitch cover. So if ETRAILER.COM sells the locking pin I would purchase it from them instead of the normal pin. 580465

$26.59
. Please keep in mind this lock will not work with double-walled hitches or some factory 2 trailer hitches that have an outside width wider than 2-58. If a longer pin length is needed, see hitch lock part # RH5-XL
Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock - Extra Long - Flush Design for 2-1/2" Trailer Hitches
$16.95

Product is well built. I needed an antisway tab on the opposite side from the product pictured online, so I called and asked whether etrailer had a separate tab that I could weld where I needed it. Etrailer had it and the two items arrived very quickly by mail. I now have the ball height I wanted and a good short distance from ball to bumper--and the antisway tab ball mount. The setup should be just right for towing my 16' Casita with the Chevy Trail Blazer. 579202

Ask the Experts about this Draw-Tite Ball Mounts
Do you have a question about this Ball Mount?

  • How to Eliminate Rattle Between Ball Mount and Receiver While Towing
  • The amount of play or slop you are experiencing between your receiver and ball mount is caused by different manufacturing tolerances between the ball mount and receiver tube that the ball mount slides into. The receiver does not measure exactly 2 inches side to side. A receiver can be a few hundredths of an inch larger or smaller than 2 inches and still be considered within tolerance. The same goes for the shank on the ball mount. The shank is purposely made a bit smaller than 2 inches...

The longest ball mounts typically have a lower weight capacity. You will be best served getting the longest ball mount you can that has a capacity that exceeds the loaded weight of your trailer plus its load. It should be 10 to 15 percent of the GTW or gross trailer weight. The gross trailer weight is the total weight of the trailer. Weight distribution is a system that installs on the trailer frame and the trailer couples to a special shank on the trailer hitch. The spring bars that come with a weight distribution system take some...

The Tow Ready 1-7/8 Inch Hitch Ball, part # 19260, would be a great fit for your application, as it features a 1 inch diameter shank that should be compatible with your ball mount. • Tongue Weight of Jayco 27BH Trailer That Has a Dry Weight of 7,500 Lbs
  • The tongue weight of your Jayco 27 BH with a dry weight of 7,500 lbs would be 750 lbs to 1,125 lbs. This would be with no load in the trailer. The tongue weight is the amount of the trailers weight at the coupler that presses down on the hitch ball. The optimum tongue weight is usually 10 to 15 percent of the trailers weight. To get the correct towing tongue weight of your trailer you will need to know the gross trailer weight of the trailer, which is the weight of your trailer and its...

  • How Far Below the Bottom Edge of Bumper Fascia Do Hitches For 2013 Volvo XC60 Extend
  • The Draw-Tite # 75671 and Curt # 13268 Class III hitches both feature a durable powder coated finish. As you can see in the accompanying photo I provided, both hitches will have about a 1 inch reveal below the bottom edge of the bumper fascia. Keep in mind that if your XC60 is the R Design model, some fascia trimming might be needed. Both hitches would install in the same manner, and share identical weight capacities. I'd recommend the Curt # 13268 as it's the least expensive. If...

  • Can Volkswagen Touareg Use Weight Distribution When Towing
  • You will need to check your owners manual to see what the trailer towing capacity is for your Touareg. Many times the construction of a vehicle will restrict the amount of weight the vehicle can tow. I looked at a 2010 Touareg and the trailer hitch we have that is designed for the 2010 is the Curt Trailer Hitch, part # 13220. This is a Class lll hitch and it has a 2 inch receiver opening. A technical note states that you cannot use weight distribution with this hitch. You will want...

  • What Weight Distribution And Sway Control for Jeep Commander Towing A 7,000 Pound Car Hauler
  • The first thing to do before you start towing is to always check the owners manual or the car dealer for the GCVWR (Gross Combined Vehicle Weight Rating) of your vehicle. The GCVWR is the maximum allowable weight capacity for your vehicle, including the vehicle, trailer and contents. You will need to check the hitch on your vehicle to make sure it has the correct weight capacity. Also, if you can add weight distribution to your hitch, to tow your 7,000 lb. trailer. The class or weight...

  • Which Trailer Hitch Is Recommended For 2008 Mazda CX 9
  • The Draw-Tite and Curt are top quality hitches as far as strength. As far as fitment on the vehicles, most manufacturers today try to make the hitch as least unobtrusive as possible when designing around the vehicle design. When we recommend hitches we usually try to take into consideration how it looks on the vehicle. Like the hitch does not hang too low or that it does not stick too far out from the rear fascia. Also if the installation is easy to do or if it requires modifications. On...

  • Recommended Class III Hitch for Carrying Bike Rack on 2015 Subaru Outback Wagon
  • When you're planning on using a hitch for a bike rack, and you're trying to determine if the two will be compatible, the important measurement is the distance between the hitch pin hole and the furthest rearward part of the bumper. The FAQ article I've linked shows how to take this measurement. I checked out the 1UP USA racks, and saw that they're all compatible with the 2 inch receiver provided by a Class III hitch, so that's what I'm recommending you go with. The 2 inch receiver has...

  • Trailer Hitch-Ball Mount-Ball and Safety Chain for Towing a Camper Trailer with a 2001 Tacoma
  • The replacement safety chain you will need depends on the weight of your camper trailer. The 48 inch long safety chain, # 2114-553-04, would be a good choice as long as the loaded gross weight of your trailer does not exceed 6,000 lbs. and you use the safety chain as 2 chains. If the clevis style hooks will not work on your vehicle, that S-hooks on the safety chains mentioned should work well. If you are worried about the chains coming loose, you could use a quick link, # 6590-044-04,...
