Hey, everyone, Ryan here at etrailer. Today we're gonna be checking out the Redline Dust Cap Driver tools, and there's gonna be two different sizes. One of them for smaller grease caps and another one for medium-sized grease caps. So let's check them out. The small one is going to work for the grease caps that have a 1.986 diameter, like ours today. So something like that, you know, that smaller size, pretty common.
And then the medium-sized one is gonna be for caps that have 2.440 size caps. So keep that in mind, if you're gonna be picking these up. But these will be ideal for those of you that do your own service, or do a lot of trailer work, really for the most part. You know, if you work on a trailer occasionally, could probably do away without this, but it is a really handy tool to have, and the whole purpose of it is to allow you to take your dust cap and drive it back into the hub without damaging the cap. So, you know, we serviced this wheel here today, repacked the bearings, inspected it and everything.
And what this can allow you to do, put the cap back on without denting it up and damaging it, you know So a lot of times you might be able to get away without beating it up too bad, right By tapping it with a mallet or a screwdriver or a block of wood. But it takes a little practice to get pretty good at that without beating them up. So if you service them a lot, you're not gonna have to continue to buy new caps, right So with this, how it works, that cap drops in there, line it up, (mallet taps) and when you drive it in, it applies pressure evenly to the whole grease cap. (mallet tapping) Makes for a really nice fit, and you can't even tell that, you know, we hammered on this thing at all. So prolongs the life for the cap and definitely speeds up the re-installation process.
At the end of the day, though, when it comes down to it, you know, there's a right tool for every job, and like I said, if you're someone that does this type of thing pretty regularly, has multiple trailers, or just don't want to risk beating up your dust caps, when you go to reinstall them, then these are definitely worth picking up. But that said, I think they'll about do it for our look at of the Redline Grease Cap Driver tools.

Works great.
AAAAAAAA+++++
havent had a chance to use it yet but it feels well built.
After I destroyed 2 caps trying to get them on, ordered 2 more with this tool. Had them on in 2 minutes.
I always like having the right tool for the job and this one works great.
This device really works well. It made putting on the grease caps a snap. It seems durable, and was reasonably priced. Definitely recommended.
This Dust Cap Driver Tool is priceless. If I had not purchased this I surely would have squashed my new dust covers. They fit tight and require some pounding. This tool makes the force equal all the way around. Apparently they did not use one on my original cap because it was smashed and the spinning cutter pin wore a hole in the rubber plug. Buy it.
This is an incredible product and it helped me immensely in getting my dust cover back on my trailer wheel bearing. Screwdrivers and blocks of wood that are used to pound the covers on the bearing just don’t do the job quite like this tool!
The literature doesn't say it, but, this also fits automotive dust caps. Perfect fit for my '99 Ford Ranger 2wd. A well made tool.
Ideal tool for removing and/or installing dust caps on trailer axles up 3500 pounds.
Even better quality than the pictures show. They seemed to now be milling these out of one piece of metal instead of welding two pieces together. The fit is perfect as well.
If I had bought this at a brick & mortar store, I would have left the one I received on the shelf and picked a straighter one. These are a handle welded to a heavy metal cup--one would think they would have used a jig to weld it straight, but apparently they just eyeballed it. So, because the handle is not on straight the transfer of force will not be even--but it's not so bad that it won't work. Unfortunately, it's not bad enough to send back--so I feel like I'm stuck with it. I'm guessing they were made in China and the quality inspector called in sick the day mine was made. (Ha, ha, like they even have a quality inspector.)
Having the right tool for the right job is the difference between a quick, easy task, or something you wish you never started. This tool is a must for replacing grease caps. If you mangle a grease cap by tapping it you won't get a good seal on the press fit and bearing grease will end up where you don't want it. This is the best $10 investment you'll make for working on axle hubs.

Tool worked as designed.
Great product. Problem is that as a boat owner I will not have to use this maybe but once every 10 years but it was worth the cost to install the new grease caps with ease. Made it so easy that I wish I had more trailers to install new grease caps on.

A year later and the grease caps have not popped off and I still dont have a new boat and trailer to have to replace the grease caps on. Still worth the money for the tool. So easy to use and no hammer dents in the grease caps when installation is completed. Thanks etrailer for great ion of items and always a great customer experience.
I highly recommend this tools (Very helpful.) as well as replacing the caps each time. (Caps are cheap at $xx.xx, so why not?) This tool fits the cap snugly and helps you
1) Drive the cap straight into the hub.
2) Keeps them from warping, it surrounds the cap and pushes mid cap on the crimped part.
3) Hammers them in by the crimped edge not the cap edge facing out.
You know how it goes, get the right tool for the job or have headaches.
Good luck with your project!

Great tool, still working great!
I bought all three sizes. I service a fleet of pickup trailers in the oilfields and after so many hubcaps, you'll look for something to do the job better. Reinstalling an old cap isnt too bad most of the time, new ones are where these tools shine. The majority of new hubcaps will not install easy, without some good heavy persuasion. And its just a sad sight, a bent, bruisied and beat up brand new hubcap. But this tool will make you proud.
I've noticed hammering on hubcaps can lead to them actually falling off down the road (pun). And the other issue is with the cotter pin inside. If the cap is dented badly, it will rub on the cotter pin or grease zerk, if it didn't already break off. Its not easy to cause this but it is possible.
Breakdown of why I bought these:
50% getting so incredibly annoyed that the cap just won't go on and being tempted to use a BFH. 30% because a newly overhauled trailer looked like h-edouble hockey sticks when I got done with it. 20% noticing hammered caps seem to fall off easier, later.
These are extremely well made thus far. I was surprised how nice and heavy they were, no quality skimping here. The cup end is made of a perfect thickness, you could toss this thing around no worries. The shaft is solid or at least thickwalled judging by the weight. And the end is a separate rounded off piece just waiting for the hammer time.
Note, the length I'm not sure on yet. The end sticks out just above the hand when grasping tool. Maybe nice to be an inch longer? Not sure yet.
Other thing I noticed is how close fitting this is. Not a con, but just keep in mind its not gonna be good for installing old beat up caps.
For removing hub caps look into SnapOns GCP10 pliers. Together, these tools are the perfect pair.
I can believe that I waited this long to buy one of these. No more tapping the edges with a hammer trying to get the dust cap started and hoping that you seat it evenly. This tool is worth its weight in gold. When I first considered purchasing it, I hesitated thinking "how many times am I going to actually use this tool?". Now that I have used it, even if I only use it 1X every year when I check my brakes it is worth every penny. Unfortunately it is one of those tools that you will never know how great it is until you use it.
Don't delay, if you have to install and remove dust caps you will be glad that you have this tool in your box.
This is a tricky tool to purchase and use for anything other than a standard trailer hub dust cap. It seems I did not research this one enough, as I got so excited to see what appeared to be a tool made to install Bearing Buddy/protector style caps which have an internal zirk and spring loaded discs to keep grease pressure. Problem is that only the EZ Lube brand versions will actually work with this tool, and have the same inside and outside diameters to allow that. Bearing Buddy's, Red Eye's, Reese, and a bunch of others like I normally use, have a larger outside diameter of around 2.15". The next tool size up has a diameter of around 2.45", so that is not a close enough fit to use for both installation and removal. I sent this one back, and will continue to use my piece of 2X4!
The tool worked much better than using a wood block. Much easier to get correct alignment and the handle made the tool use very. I wish I had found this tool sooner, would highly recommend it .

Works well for removing & installing grease caps.
Very useful and well built. Makes installing replacement dust caps a breeze.

Thanks for taking the time to follow up with me. Ive only put a few hundred miles of use on the trailer but everything is working great. Ive actually recommended etrailer to my father, a friend of mine and anyone at work who would listen made easier by the fact that I had everything I ordered shipped to my job instead of home. Barring an emergency situation that requires an immediate solution you have my business in the future.
I ordered the dust cap driver tool because I just could not get the dust caps on my hubs for my boat trailer, it was driving me crazy. I looked on the internet and it said to use a driver tool. I found the etrailer site on my computer and they had the driver I needed. So I ordered one, it arrived in 4 days. When I opened the package the tool was very well made, and the price was very good. I went to the trailer and it took about 30 seconds to put on the dust caps, I could not believe how easy it was to put them on thanks to etrailer .

There’s a reason why I always go to etrailer first for anything trailer, boat, truck related. They carry the best stuff and follow through after the sale is complete to make sure I’m satisfied.

Great. No problems
EZ lube bearing, race and seal set were as advertised and fit my dexter hubs perfectly with no problems. Also purchased the Dust covers with rubber stopper and the Dust cover driver tool. Saw an earlier review with one star but bought anyway and it worked perfect. Other review stated it was not welded square but must have been a fluke because the one I received was in perfect shape and worked great would buy again and made the install super easy without denting or messing up the cover.
