Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

2008 Nissan Altima

Great product, but DO NOT expect to do this yourself. I bought it under that expectation, but it requires both lowering the muffler assembly and opening up the frame so that the bolts can be tightened correctly. Not sure if I read that assembly was doable in the description or one of the Q/As on this site, but it is definitely not. So far no problems with the hitch, about a week into actual attachment to my altima coupe. Have yet to use it with anything yet. 208890

Nissan Altima

This hitch is a perfect fit for my Altima. The only hard part of this install was drilling a preexisting hole out to 1". Total instal time was under an hour. 15684

- 24801

This hitch can not be installed without enlarging two holes from 3/8" to 1 1/8", this must be done with ether a drill and tapered bit or a power grinder. Instalion time by a professional 1+hr using power tools. 11910

  • Trailer Hitch and Bike Rack Recommendations for a 2010 Nissan Altima Coupe
The Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch, # 24801, installs under the vehicle on the frame so it will fit a 2010 Nissan Altima Coupe with or without a spoiler. I have included a link to the installation instructions for the hitch. All of the trailer hitches for your car are Class I trailer hitches. This means you are limited to carrying 2 bikes on a bike rack compatible with a Class I trailer hitch. The platform style racks like the Swagman XC, # S64650, are very popular, and the XC is compatible...

  • Trailer Hitch and Bike Rack Recommendations for a 2012 Nissan Altima Coupe
Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 24801 will fit your 2012 Nissan Altima Coupe. I have linked the instructions for you. This is a Class I trailer hitch with a 1-1/4 inch receiver. You will need to make sure the bike rack you have is Class I compatible. Class I trailer hitches are limited to carrying 2 bikes maximum. If you determine that you do need a compatible bike rack, I recommend the Swagman Titan, # S63400. This rack is Class I compatible, has the ability to tilt down, it comes with anti-sway...

  • Difference In Installation Of Trailer Hitch On 2011 Nissan Altima Sedan And Coupe
The installation for hitches on the 2011 Altima has quite a lot of difference between the sedan and the coupe models. I will use the Draw-Tite trailer hitches for an example. For the Sedan, the hitch I recommend is part # 24796. When installing this hitch you have to place the hitch against the bottom of the vehicle and center punch the mounting hole positions. Then you drill through the bottom of the trunk. On the hitch that is used for the Coupe model, part # 24801, the hitch...

  • Is Drilling or Modification Needed to Install a Trailer Hitch on a 2013 Nissan Altima Coupe
There is no drilling required to install the Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 24801 for the 2013 Nissan Altima Coupe. However, access holes will need to be enlarged in order to get the hardware in place. Since you are leasing the vehicle I do not recommend making modifications to the vehicle unless the dealer leasing the vehicle determines it is ok to do so. I have linked the instructions that you can show the dealer to help make that decision. If you get the go ahead to install the trailer...

  • Trailer Hitch and Bike Rack Recommendation for 2010 Nissan Altima Coupe
For your 2010 Nissan Altima coupe the Draw Tite hitch part # 24801 is the best hitch solution for carrying a bike rack as unlike the Curt for your vehicle it does not require the use of a stabilizer strap when carrying a non-supported load like a bike rack. I really like the Saris Freedom Superclamp part # SA4025F. This is a lightweight platform rack (which is normally an unheard of combo). That means it'll be easy to install and remove from your vehicle since it's light, but also it'll...

  • Tips on Installing Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch 24801 on a 2008 Nissan Altima Coupe
There really is no special way to get the Draw-Tite, # 24801, into position on your 2008 Nissan Altima coupe. It looks like you would have to do either the left or right side first then angle in the other side. You do not have to lower the exhaust but if you find there is no other way then use a strap to support the exhaust and then take the exhaust off of the rubber hangers to lower it. The strap will hold it up and it will be down low enough to get the hitch in easier.

  • Is Drilling Necessary to Install Draw-Tite Class I Receiver # 24801 on 2011 Nissan Altima
To install the Draw-Tite Class I receiver, part # 24801 on your 2011 Altima Coupe, you will not need to drill any new holes in the frame members under the vehicle. You will however need to enlarge one of the holes in the frame to thread hardware into the frame. This can be done in many ways, drilling or using a cold chisel to notch both sides of the existing hole are the easiest, but a Dremel-type tool or file can also be used. The hole would need to be enlarged just enough so that the...

  • Is Drilling Required to Install a Trailer Hitch on a 2013 Nissan Altima Sedan
The Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 24801 is not listed for the 2013 Nissan Altima Sedan so you cannot use it on your vehicle. But the equivalent hitch for the sedan is # 24796. Drilling is required for installation. I have included a link to the installation instructions as well as a link to a video showing a typical installation for you to view. All of the trailer hitches that will fit your Altima will require drilling. If you plan on doing some towing the correct ball mount to use is #...

  • Would the Draw-Tite part # 24801 fit on a 2011 Nissan Altima with Borla Exhaust
It's hard to say if your Borla exhaust would interfere with the Draw-Tite part # 24801 being installed on your 2011 Nissan Altima. However, I did speak to my contact at Draw-Tite and he informed me that the portion of the hitch that sits between the exhaust tips is 39-3/4 inches. For trailer wiring you would want the Curt Wiring harness part # 56022. For a 1-7/8 inch ball you would want part # A-80, 2 inch ball part # A-82.

  • Enlarging Frame Holes To Install Draw-Tite Class I Part 24801 on 2011 Altima Coupe
The video you refer to was placed on that product page in error. It refers to a different part number installed on the sedan, not the coupe. The install would not involve drilling down through the trunk. The hole closest to the front of the vehicle would need to be enlarged enough so that the block washer and carriage bolt can be fished into the frame member. This hole can be enlarged by drilling a small adjacent hole on either side of the existing hole and using a cold chisel to...

  • Will the Draw-Tite Class I Trailer Hitch # 24801 Fit on a 2010 Nissan Altima Hybrid Coupe
I spoke with my contact at Draw-Tite to be sure that the Draw-Tite Class I Trailer Hitch # 24801 will fit on a 2010 Nissan Altima Hybrid Coupe (2 door). He said that it will fit because the frame is the same on the Hybrid Model. If you have a 2010 Nissan Altima Hybrid Sedan (4 door), then the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch, item # 24796, will fit on this vehicle.

  • Hitch Recommendation for a 2011 Nissan Altima to Carry a Bike Rack
The Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 24801 that you referenced would make an excellent choice for a hitch to carry a bike rack with your 2011 Nissan Altima. • Will Thule Helium Aero Bike Carrier Clear Rear Bumper on a 2012 Honda Odyssey
The Thule Helium Aero bike carrier # TH9043PRO now has that knob sticking straight out from the side of the shank and not up at an angle so it would not be an issue at all on your 2012 Honda Odyssey. Also, even if you had an older version of the bike carrier it would still work.

If you are referring to another question and answer where I recommended the Swagman Titan, # S63400, I would not say it is better than the new Thule Helium Aero, # TH9042PRO. They do have many of the same features: anti-sway cradles, cable lock, tilt feature, anti-rattle. The Helium is lighter at only 19 pounds making it easier to handle and putting less stress on the hitch. It has better cradles that absorb road shock and the anti-rattle device is integrated into the shank rather than...

  • Can Trailer Hitch Installed on 2013 Nissan Altima Handle Mobility Scooter + Carrier Weighing 300 lbs
A Nissan Altima is compatible with a Class I hitch, which has a maximum tongue weight capacity of 200 lbs. The 300 lb chair and lift you mention would seriously overload the hitch, which would damage the hitch and result in the loss of the carrier and the power chair during transport, which would be bad. Your best bet would be to use a different tow vehicle, one that's capable of using a Class III hitch that has a tongue weight capacity of at least 350 lbs. A small trailer like part...

This has to do with the hitch; Class I hitches simply cannot handle the load of more than two bikes. Between the two I suggest the Draw-Tite. While there are hitch adapters like # HTAD that allow installing a 2-inch rack like your Kuat NV into a smaller hitch, these are not a viable...
