Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

I was back and forth with tech support because the back of the hitch was not lining up with the steel loop on the back of the car. As a result, I purchased a longer bolt and put it thru the loop and receiver in a off horizontal fashion. A tech suggested that perhaps the car was in an accident at some time. I am the 2nd owner

I don’t often use it except if we are camping without a sewer hook up. The install procedure for getting the mounting bolt into the frame was pretty slick

by:
Honda

Fit my 2010 Honda CRV perfectly but as others have said, the bolts could be a little longer. Took me about an hour to install. Used a dremel to slightly enlarge the frame holes.

by:

Great hitch. It's tricky getting the bolts secured. You'll need an extra hand. There's no room to use the washers provided as the bolt is short.

by:

Installed this on my 2008 CRV. The install was no walk in the park but the videos helped tremendously. Don't skimp on the WD40 when unhooking the tailpipe hanger! Anyway, got it done and it works beautifully. I use it with a bike carrier and to tow a small tent camper actually designed to be towed by a motorcycle.

Being from south Louisiana, we love to gofishing for speckled trout and redfish. When my brother's boat broke I lost my way to go fishing. I found a used boat for sale and now it's time to go fishing whenever the mood strikes. Enter the trailer hitch from eTrailer.com for my 2010 Honda CR-V. It took about 30 minutes early one Saturday morning to install the hitch and about 40 minutes to install the wiring harness. I did all of this by myself and it would take 2 people maybe 10 minutes to install the hitch. The hitch is solid and the wiring harness is plenty long to get to the trailer wiring. eTrailer.com had the best price and easy links to the installation videos. My next hitch will come from eTrailer.com.

2011 Honda CR-V

Installed this on a 2011 CRV. While others say this was a 20 minute deal, guess they are way faster than I. I had to raise the back wheels enough to set them on 6x6 blocks.. I made the required notch with a 5/16" drill bit. It needs to be at the 3 or 9 o clock position with 12 o clock facing forward. It is a bit award doing the bolts on the sides, but using the rear center bolt to hold things, it worked out just fine. e-trailer even sent me a nice piece of cardboard to lay on while installing the hitch.

by:

My Sportframe Trailer Receiver was easy to install and worked just as I expectited. No complaints here!!

Solid construction. Very happy with this product.

2011 Honda CR-V

The receiver fits well and sat where it should, but on my 2011 CR-V the passenger side frame mount location was above the muffler and very difficult to reach while laying on my back in my yard.

The provided bolts were just long enough to fit flush with the nut when tightened down. Due to the way the receiver mounts on my CR-V, the only thing pushing the bolts down to thread the nuts on is gravity, which, not surprisingly, was not enough. I ended up using a long thin n52 magnet on the end of the screw to pull the bolt down and give me enough force to thread the nut on. The side above the muffler was just not long enough even with the magnet to get the nut started on the bolt, so I bought a longer bolt and then had to cut it off after tight so that the exhaust would fit back in place.

Good product but the installation was not very good for this home mechanic.

by:

I had some difficulty installing the hitch on my 2007 CR-V, with the muffler being in the way. The installation video was very helpful. The bolts seemed a little short, so I first installed them without the washers and tightened them somewhat. Then I replaced them one at a time and added the washer. The end result was great. (I am over 70 years old and I installed it all by myself.) I am very pleased with the hitch and would definitely buy it again. I also installed the wiring harness C55106 with the hitch. I use the hitch to pull a boat trailer with a 14 foot aluminum boat to go fishing. Both the hitch and the wiring work great.

After one year I still like the hitch. The hitch works great and I would definitely buy it again.

by:

The hitch was simple enough for me, a DIYer, to install. I have used it for my hitch mounted bike rack and have had no hitch-related issues.

by:
2010 Honda Insight

This trailer hitch was shipped by eTrailer with an expedited shipment at their own cost (thank you) and arrived packaged well to prevent sipping damage. The hitch fit perfectly on my 2010 Honda CRV and all hardware was adequate to secure it to the frame of the vehicle. I viewed the video that was a link from their website to gain valuable insight for easy installation. It was a little difficult holding the hitch up in the air while trying to thread a nut onto a bolt that had no back pressure, but I was finally able to get it done. Took about 1.5 hours to complete.

This trailer hitch is really truly excellent!!! I could not be more satisfied with my purchase, but more importantly, I was extremely satisfied with the level of customer support shown when my hitch was not shipped within the time frame that I was given, I got a lot of
follow up information. It was really no big deal to wait an extra day or 2 for it to arrive, but I liked the communication provided. The bike rack I have works impeccably with this hitch, it does not rattle, shake or move, and I am very happy. I have not had a chance to use the electrical setup I also purchased, but will get to soon.
Sorry I don't have any pictures to share, but I will recommend your website to anyone who has a need to purchase a trailer hitch or other items in the future
Thanks so much

2008 Honda CR-V

Good lightweight hitch. I purchased mine so that I could use a 1-1/4" hitch mounted bike rack and occasionally tow a light utility trailer. The etrailer installation kit is complete and makes installation easy. The center mounting point using the Honda tow hook and metal spacers is a bit klugey, but it seems to work. However, I've noticed on my hitch that the bolt through the center mount has loosened after use (twice now), so I'd recommend using blue LocTite on that bolt in particular.

by:
2009 Honda CR-V

I got this hitch for my 2009 CR-V to haul a small cargo trailer for camping trips and install was a breeze. The hardest part was enlarging the mounting holes. I didn't have a metal punch like shown in the video so I had to get creative with a jigsaw.
My hitch was missing the drawbar and when I contacted etrailer they sent it to me right away. Great customer service!

by:

Greetings,
My experience in purchasing
a hitch for a bike rack from etrailer was much better than ever expected. First, the price was significantly lower than one offered by a major retail company. The employee at etrailer with whom I dealt was not only pleasant and helpful, but she expedited the shipping date by two days. When the hitch was installed on our vehicle the total savings including labor was almost $100.00. Can't beat that!

by:

I used a Dremel with a tungsten carbide cutter to cut the required notches in the frame. Worked well except for the metal shavings which turned into tiny metal splinters. I suggest maximum protective equipment, including eye protection, respirator, gloves, and some coveralls.

One significant flaw in the installation (aside from the difficulty of initial placement by a single person) is the proper securing of the bolt through the tow hook. Upon tightening of this bolt, the rectangular washer would rotate to a position that allowed the bolt to start bending and pulling the washer through the tow hook. It seems necessary to use a strong shim to keep the washer in place while torquing the bolt to specifications.

Despite the installation difficulties, the hitch has performed well.

by:

Cutting a slot in the chassis hole to accommodate the mounting bolt backing plate was not as easy as the video shows. If you are a regular joe without a car lift and shop tools, it is harder. I used a rotary tool with a cutting blade to cut the notch. Otherwise the installation went well. I bought this model since I was only going to use it for a bicycle rack. I think the class 3 hitch would actually be easier to install since it uses nuts already welded into the frame. The hitch itself was well made. Very happy with it.

I've installed a number Draw-Tite hitches on many different vehicles. They have all installed quickly and easily including this one I purchased for my CRV. I installed it in about 20mins without any issues. One recommedation I would offer is get yourself some rust inhibting spray paint and after making any drill holes, etc in the frame of the vehicle spray the frame prior to installing the hitch to prevent rust. Additionally, I always spray the entire hitch with rust inhibiting spray paint as well to cover scratches made during install and to cover exposed bolts etc. These hitches work great but rust quick! Spraying them prior to use extends the life of the hitch and prevents the eye sore of a rust ridden hitch.

by:

2nd one sent same results. Side tab to short for installation. See photos. I even asked etrailer not to send the same one. I was told that there had been some issues with this particularly vendor but it was corrected. Apparently not. Zero stars not a choice.

  • Trailer Hitch Weight for a 2011 Honda CR-V
I'd be happy to help! All of the hitches for your 2011 Honda CR-V weigh relatively the same when it comes to the different classes, and while the Class I hitches definitely weight lighter I recommend using a Class III hitch since they have a 2" receiver and can handle a wider variety of accessories. Out of the hitches listed below I recommend the Draw-Tite Hitch # 75547 since it's a Class III hitch with a weight of about 27 lbs. Here are the rest of the hitches: Class I Draw-Tite -...

If this is the case, then this trailer hitch will work with any hitch mounted bike rack that was designed to fit a Class I trailer hitch with a 1-1/4 inch shank.
