Brakes continue to last past 100k miles on my 22' enclosed trailer. Great quality!

by:

I ordered these brakes on Tuesday they arrived at my house (in southeast Texas) on Friday (free shipping). These brakes heavy duty and a breeze to install. I paid twice as much for brakes I had bought before, locally. Good job ETrailer!!!!

No problems at all. They still work as good as the day I put them on.

Beautiful 12 x 2 loaded back plates. 5 holes, lined up perfectly. Need bolts, no studs on these American Beauties!.

by:

EXCELLENT...... START TO FINISH. Fantastic service, great prices, quality products. Here's a before and after picture. It only took 30 minutes and basic tools to make the replacement. So much better than trying to clean up the old rusty one. Thanks again, Bill Borland in Michigan

Brakes were a perfect match for my camper and a simple bolt up. Thank you Anthony W. For making sure I got the right parts

by:

I bought 2 sets of 12x2 electric brake assembly for my car hauler. I was just going to replace the shoes but after remembering the difficaulty in doing drum brakes in the early days, I found it easier and less time consuming by just remove 5 bolts and connect two wires. This product came to my door with in only 3 days. Great looking product (no picture because i"m writing this after the install).
I have been back to etrailer several time for other items such as hitch shank, wheel center caps even grease caps. Great place to shop.

Brakes arrived very quickly and looked very good. One spring and adjustment rod came off during shipping, but the pieces were there and easily installed. I haven't installed them yet, but am very happy with product at this point.

I am writing this very favorable review of my online shopping experience with etrailer. Recently I had to replace the brakes, hubs, wheels and tires on my travel trailer. Please keep in mind that I am a 65 year old man without a lot of experience with online shopping. Never-the-less, I decided to give it a try in hopes of saving some money. To my surprise, etrailer made the experience very easy and painless. Before I placed my order on line, I had a question about one of the items on my shopping list, so I placed a call to them. I spoke with a very lovely and patient Customer Service Representative by the name of Michelle S. She was very helpful in answering my questions and encouraged me to call her back directly when I was ready to place my order; and so I did. During the shipping process, she kept me informed through emails the status of my order and everything arrived on time and in great shape. I truly appreciate the personalized services I received doing business with etrailer. They truly removed all of the uncertainty and nervousness of shopping online.

by:

Unfortunately, one of the 4 brakes came with the spring and adjuster shaft on the bottom of the box. I put them back on without too much trouble but etrailer should review the product packaging in order to protect the brakes from damage. The install needs shrink tubing style crimp connectors. Mine required sizes for 16 to 18 gage and one size up for joining 3 wires where one wire crosses over thru the axel from the left to the right side. Also there are two adjuster plugs per brake so a total of 8 plugs are required for 4 brakes. Once installed they worked great.

by:

The right and left hand brake were very easy to install and came with everything needed. The only problem after install, is that the left hand break gave off a buzzing sound while brakes were not engaged...adjusting the arm as suggested by your technicians to the electric magnet did not help...there was little engagement from magnet to drum while brake were not engaged, that i decided to go the 8k miles anyway, checking every night stop...it still has the buzzing sound and I will need to replace.

Quality product and super fast shipping

by:

I had bought a used Hallmark 24' cargo trailer. Got around to repacking the bearings and one brake assembly had just come apart. Electric brakes and one lead was gone so I order this item. Arrived in a timely manner. Installed backing plate/brakes and hub in about 15 minutes. Attached electric brake leads and everything looks great. I have not figured out how to test the electric brakes.

by:

Sara was very helpful at putting together my order after my POT HOLE incident, which destroyed the rim, tire, brake assembly, etc. Thanks for the help, im back on the road !!

by:

Easy to install and again no problems this far.

by:

I had ordered some parts online to rebuild the suspension on one of our trailers. Customer service called me a short time later to inform me that they were out of stock on some items, they asked if it was possible to substitute some items. She was able to find the exact parts I needed in a different kit. The parts came within 3 days, very well packed, and they fit perfectly! This is the 3rd time I've ordered from etrailer and they have exceeded my expectations every time. EXCELLENT customer service and quality parts.

by:

Good OEM replacement parts at the best price I could find. Bolted right up with no issues. Very disappointed that the brake adjuster slots do not come with plugs. Plugs from old brake assy, did not fit, plus there are two slots per new brake assy, but only one on old brake assy. Ordered 8 plugs. Disappointed as I had to pay for additional shipping when I ha free shipping.

by:

Perfect match as always. Shipping was fast. Customer service to find the right part is always so very much appreciated. Always happy to pay a couple of extra dollars for their reliable support and fast shipping (via shipping)!!!!!!!!!!!

by:

Bolted them on, wired trailer over from hydraulic brakes. this job took about 4 hours start to finish. 3 axle trailer. These brakes will hold back my tractor.

by:

Great quality, great price, fit like originals. Price from etrailer.com was quite a bit lower than other vendors. Quick shipping - trailer was back on the road in no time.

by:

Etrailer was great. Ordered dexter brake assemblies and grease seals. Everything work perfectly. Will order again.

by:

Everything went well with the installation. Working with etrailer made things happen. Thanks etrailer.

by:

These parts were made by Dexter and were exact replacement parts for my Dexter axles.

  • Best Way To Test Trailer Side 7-Way Without A 7-Way On Tow Vehicle
Hello Dylan. Without having a vehicle to connect to, the only way to properly test your trailers 7-way is to use a tester like the Tekonsha # 8010 or the Hopkins Tow Doctor # HM50928. These testers provide a power source and will allow you to test all of the functions easily by yourself. These testers are expensive though, so if it were me. I would go ahead and put that money towards installing a 7-way on the vehicle so you can test it that way. If you can let me know the year, make and...

  • Troubleshooting Trailer Brake Assembly that Locks Up One Wheel on Trailer
Most likely it's a mechanical problem on the specific assembly that's locking up when you hit the brakes. If it was a short in the wiring they all would be locking up. Best option is to pull the hub off and inspect the assembly to see if you can find out what's wrong with the assembly and then replace/fix as needed.
