Video Transcript for Deka Wiring 16-4B-1 Review

Today, we're going to review part number 16-4B-1. This is the Deka bonded four wire per foot. This is a parallel primary wire that has four parallel conductors bonded together by this thermal plastic insulation and each conductor is independently color coded for easy identification. Basically, can see that it has the normal four wire color coding. The green, which is your right turning brake wire. Your yellow which is your left turning brake wire. Your brown, which is your tail lights, and your white, which is your ground. Each wire is a 16 gauge and again, on this part number, the price is per foot.

I have a foot of wire right here so you can order as many feet as you like. This is designed for use with 50 volts or less. That should do it for the review on part number 16-4B-1, the Deka bonded four wire per foot. .

Quality products that allows us to our trailer to automotive OEM standards vs the bound to fail system of the original trailer manufacturer

Your description on line was the best of anywhere I found. I'm going to make 2 wiring harnesses for my pickup. I'll be towing it behind my motorhome so 1 harness will be from the front bumper to the rear of the bed for a light bar I'm making. Then the 2nd harness will be from the front bumper of the pickup to the rear of my motorhome. I also ordered 2 12" 4 wire loops for each end of the 2 harnesses I'll be making.

They worked out great!

This review covers an earlier purchase of backing plates and brake assemblies for my double axle 16' trailer as well as new wiring for this trailer after repeatedly repairing the wiring purchased from a local store. The brakes work perfectly and the new wiring is so much better than my previous locally purchased wiring. The only problem I have now is remembering to adjust the brakes between the loaded and unloaded trips. Makes the tires last longer!!

Wires are holding up great!! No more breaks or disconnects. This project completes a refitting of my 16 ft car hauler. Earlier parts included brake shoes and backing plates and a new trailer to truck power cable. Very satisfied with all of the items purchased from e-trailer.

Fast delivery - Ordered on 9/29/17 - Received on 10/4/17
As a benefit, wire is 16G rather then the normal 20G you find in the stores that have ready made harnesses.
NOTE for etrailer managers. I am a technical person by nature and speaking only for myself, when I buy and pay for a specific amount of something, I expect to get that amount. I'm not pinching pennies with you here; BUT, I bought 30' of this wire and when I received it, I measured it twice and came up with 29' 10". Most places I've dealt with in the past where I buy wire, angle iron, etc.. would give you a couple of inches or more than you ordered versus a couple of inches shorter than what was ordered. Very stingy in my opinion and not fair to your customers.

Thick heavy gauge wire, with stout insulation.
Not like the thin stuff in a harbor freight light kit.
This is something you will be proud to put on your trailer.

helpful comparison, thanks!

Yet another part purchased for my 10K lb trailer build.
I am planning on mounting a waterproof junction box for my wiring, these wires will be used to power all of the lights on the trailer. I will run separate wires for the trailer brakes and battery. The quality of this wire looks to be pretty nice.

Having all your wiring color coded and matching for accessories on your camper or trailer is a must as far as im concerned. This roll does just that and makes repairs and connections so much easier. It also prevents shorts and incorrect wiring that alone makes it a must have.

Excellent product, quality, and exact wire gauge I was looking for. I love that I could buy the exact length I needed without buying an entire spool of wire. I'm using this wire on my utility trailer. I needed to lengthen the trailer wire that connects to the vehicle. I covered the wire with split loom and bought new connectors for both truck and trailer. It looks and functions great! Thanks!

This helped make rewiring my trailer very easy .

super fast shipping. exactly what was needed to get my flatbed trailer back on the road. Prices were great and customer support is fantastic. thanks for all the help and great products.

great bonded harness for hay-bailer ha uler.

Hi, I am sorry to give you a not so good review but I feel I must be honest. When I received my wire it was in a rat nest I spent some time unknotting it and some of the wires were not connected to the bonded 4 wire by at least 11/2 foot. however the shipping was fast. Thank You David S.

Online ordering was very easy. Customer service emailed updates every step of the delivery process and allowed me to track my order very easily. Everything came in as expected and in great shape. My first experience with Etrailer has been very pleasant! Thank you!

As always my order was received in record time. The products are great quality with some of the best customer service I have ever received. Etrailer goes above and beyond to provide great products as well as very informative technical information.

Good product. Recieved order fast.

A good value.

A year later, I have no complaints. Keeping in mind, the wire gets little use abuse...

Good product easy to install just seemed a bit cheap. It was easier than building my own harness.

The wire, rollers and the fenders were all received in good condition; and are installed on the trailer.

Your site was easy to order from, the price was good; and thank you for your promptness in delivering the order.

Wire for trailer lights, good product.

I am very pleased with the products I have purchased from etrailer. They were shipped right away. Just what I needed. I highly recommend this site.

I ordered 40' of this for re-wiring my 15' trailer (running it down both sides). This wire is solid yet easy to work with, i.e. separating out an individual wire for splicing, bending, snaking inside trailer framing, etc. This wire is color coded with the 4 standard colors for trailer wiring.

This wire worked great and is the same gauge on all four wires rather than having a bigger gauge on just the ground like some wire is. I'm glad I ordered the amount I did because I didn't think I would use it but I did.

It is wire. However, the length was the reason for ordering as local retail outlets only had 25 foot lengths available and I didn't want splices in the middle of my "toad" taillight connections.

Excellent new wire that I used to completely rewire the trailer. Very good quality, good insulation, nice fresh multi-strand copper wire inside. Superb! Very satisfied!

Products was as expected and received in a timely fashion.

.Would definitely use your company again .Wiring is holding up nicely

  • Trailer 4-Way Wiring Harness has 2 Wires Coming Out of Running Light Pin
It sounds like you have a wishbone harness. A wishbone harness has 2 wires for the running light circuit, one for each side of the trailer. That way you do not have to run a jumper wire from one side of the trailer to the other for running lights on both sides. These two running light wires will be spliced together to connect to the single running light wire on a 4-Way. Yellow/brown would be for the left side and green/brown the right side. On a 4-Way, trailer side, the covered pin is...

  • Troubleshooting Clearance Lights that Blink with the Turn Signals
It sounds like your clearance lights are run to the stop/turn signal circuit instead of being run to the running light circuit. I would recommend you verify the wiring of your trailer and make sure that you have the correct circuit run to your clearance lights. The running light circuit is typically a brown wire and the circuit right next to the ground circuit that is jacketed on the 4-way. Check out the FAQ article I attached on trailer wiring also.

  • Troubleshooting Running Light Circuit on Trailer
The first step in troubleshooting your trailer taillights would be to determine if the problem is on the vehicle, or in the trailer wiring. Start first by using a circuit tester like part # 40376. Turn on the vehicle headlights, and use the tester to check the pin on the trailer connector that carries the running light circuit. If you have a 4-pole connector, test the pin fed by the brown wire. If you have a 7-way, check the pin in the 11:00 position. If you get a signal on that pin, the...

  • Troubleshooting Trailer Light Malfunctions - Running Lights Not Working But Everything Else Is
If the turn signals are working properly on your boat, but the running lights do not work, then this is most likely a ground issue. The turn signals and brake signals do not require a constant power like what is needed for the running lights. So this is usually when grounding issues become apparent. Since everything is new on your boat trailer, I would check to see if the ground wire on the trailer is grounded to an appropriate metal surface. Boat trailers are commonly made of aluminum,...

  • After Replacing 4-Way Trailer Connector the Trailer Running Lights Do Not Work
Your trailer has what is called a wishbone harness. This means that it has 2 running light wires (brown), one for each side of the trailer. These harnesses are used so you do not have to run a jumper wire from one side of the trailer to the other to get running lights to both sides. Since you have connected the 2 brown wires together and are not getting any running lights, I suspect there is a ground problem or a bad connection at the connector on the running light circuit. Make sure...

  • Could the Bonded 4 Wire # 16-4B-1 be Used to Power a Small Accessory
The individual wires of the Bonded 4 Wire # 16-4B-1 are 16 gauge. If you want to use this wiring to power a small circuit you should be fine as long as 16 gauge wire would be adequate for the accessory. If connected to a vehicle using traditional 4-way wiring the brown wire would have power when the headlights or running lights are on. So whatever accessory you are looking to power would only be powered with either of those circuit.

  • How Do Trailer Wires with Two Wires Attach to 4-Way Trailer Wiring
Based on the colors of the wires that are on the lights you bought for your trailer is sounds like the assemblies ground through the mounting hardware, the brown wire is the running light circuit, and the red wire is the stop turn circuit. A traditional 4 wire trailer setup has a stop/turn circuit that runs to either side of the trailer. One for the passenger side (typically green wire) and one to the driver side (typically yellow). So that's two of the four wires. The white wire will...

  • Passenger Turn Signal Does Not Work and Brakes are Dim when Applied
This does sounds like a ground issue. You will want to check on the trailer lights that the ground is secured to clean, bare metal. You might also want to check for corroded connections. Look for wires with worn or cracked insulation, or wires that are pinched or broken.

  • Signal and Brake Lights Work on Trailer but No Taillights
Since the signal and brake lights are working but the taillights are not, it sounds like you may be experiencing a ground issue. A weak ground can be just strong enough to provide some of the lighting functions but not all of them. If a ground problem exists, it will typically show up when the taillights and brake lights are used at the same time because this creates the maximum amp load. There are several places to look for a poor ground connection. I recommend starting with the trailer...

  • How to Wire 4-Pole Connector on Trailer Has Extra Running Light Circuit
It sounds like what you currently have on your trailer is what's known as a wishbone wiring harness. The running light circuit has two wires, one for the drivers side of the trailer, the other for the passenger side. A wishbone harness can make for a neater install, but they're not absolutely necessary. You can use a standard set up with only one running light circuit. Simply run down one side of the trailer, connect to the running lamp and splice in another length of wire to run over to...

  • Troubleshooting Trailer Wiring that Stops Functioning When Vehicle Headlights are Put On
Weak grounds issues on trailer wiring can manifest when connected to one vehicle but not when connected to another. If one vehicle happens to have weaker trailer wiring circuits than another things can act differently. Try improving the grounds of your trailer light assemblies as that is most likely the problem. • After Installing New Wiring and LED Tail Lights Trailer Drivers Side Lights have Constant Power
Constant power would seem to indicate a short. Make sure the wiring is not pinched or damaged anywhere on the trailer and fix as needed. All grounds should be attached to clean and corrosion free bare metal surfaces. You can also check the trailer and vehicle side connectors for dirt/corrosion and clean them inside where the wires attach and on the pins. I have included some links that may also help. One covers testing 4-Way wiring and the other is general information on trailer wiring.
