After a lot of head scratching, looking for shorts, internet searches, and checks with my meter, I finally figured out that my camper tail and marker lights were dim because of low voltage. My 2000 Ford Econoline Van didn't have the trailer towing package. So, Ford ran the thinnest wiring to the tail lights which, of course, couldn't carry the voltage necessary to the camper.
After another search on the internet, I came across your wonderful site. You had exactly what I needed to solve my problem. The videos and descriptions on your website convinced me of the product I needed. The Q&A sections are awesome as well!
The only negative on the product was the wiring to the right turn/brake light wasn't long enough for my van, but that was an easy fix with some solder and another length of wire.
I also ordered the ModuLite Installation Wiring Kit, Item # 118151 to run from the Modulite module to the battery. Twenty feet of wire wasn't enough to get to the battery through the interior of my van, but did get me to the front of the engine compartment. Again, hardly a problem as I had a length of 12 gauge braided wire to complete the lateral run across to the battery.

Super easy to install in my existing system, so I can haul pickup truck trailers with my semi tractor. All lights on the trailer work as they should. However, I'm getting a weird feedback, in that my trucks 2 side marker lights are now lit any time the trailer is connected. I need to do a little wire chasing to find the fault, but I hope it's not this unit- shouldn't be since it's designed not to allow feedback. I will update my review when I figure this out.

First, as to the product: As others have commented, the lack of installation instructions was a little disconcerting. George helped me find the directions online, and everything went well from there. The installation took me about 1 1/2 hours, and I don't work fast.
This was a replacement for an older, cheaper Hopkins converter. That one had developed the habit of blinking both turn signals anytime the brake lights were also on. The Tekonsha fixed that, and, as a bonus the brake and turn lights are brighter now.
Turning to customer service, in most things etrailer is great. I ordered with two day shipping, and the product was shipped immediately and came via UPS in two days. George was very reponsive to my request for directions emailing a response in an hour. The one disappointing thing was when I called the number after "Call to talk to a product expert", not only did I not get a product expert, the CSR didn't really comprehend what I was asking about. However, she got Bill to call me back, and he answered my questions competently.

Pretty good, but not perfect. After a few months use, I started noticing the same problem I had with the Hopkins - the off-side lights blinking alternately with the on-side. But faintly. I dont think its enough to be a safety problem, but a little discouraging nevertheless.

After one year of use, my "Tow Ready" is working fine. The trailer lights are bright and the Tow Ready unit has not affected my Sprinter van's current monitored rear light wiring. My only wish is that the turn signal and brake lights were two different bulbs and not combined into one. (I like yellow turn signals on my trailers with separate red brake lights.) With this Tow Ready unit, the brake light flashes on and off when the turn signal is on. Other than that, its perfect. Todd from Wisconsin.

I have a 2012 VW Golf TDI. It has very strange wiring, but does work with this Modulite (119190). The issue is that my Golf has a 2 wire setup, but it is the running and brake lights that share bulbs, not the turn signals (it is possible to pick up individual signals for the running lights from the car's license plate light and to use the center brake light...but it's hard to get to them).
But, I was surprised in my testing that this converter works fine like this. I used the red wire for picking up the combined brake/running signal, and left the brown wire unconnected (however, I will go back and ground it). Turn signals hook up normally.

The green wire for the pass side turn signal needed an extension if you have the rear cd changer and navigation dvd rack. 2006 BMW x5. Otherwise easy install takes about 1.5 hrs

This product solved the problem of my 2017 F 350 thinking it always had a trailer attached when it didn't. I have additional lighting on my truck, and the truck was "sensing" a trailer was attached. By adding this unit, the truck is back to normal.

This Circuit Protected wiring harness is essential for use on any BMW that has not been factory pre-wired for a trailer. These cars are prone to electronic board failure ($4000.) if a standard wiring harness is used...do not do it - it will void the car warranty.
This product is the only one I found that is suitable. Beware that there are others on the marketplace that are similar but do not provide adequate protection to the vehicle wiring and circuits.
U-Haul has a very good one that actually has an LED feature on the 4-Flat plug that makes it simple to verify that each of the wires are connected properly and functioning however theirs does NOT provide protection when both brake and tail lights share wires.
This review may not make sense to some readers but your BMW dealer and any knowledgable trailer hitch installer/supplier will know exactly the importance of using this exact product.

I purchased this product to convert the 3 way tail light system in my Freightliner FLD 120 truck/tractor to use for my agriculture trailers that use a 2 way light system. I have several trailers I use and each of them have a lot of lights, so I needed a powered converter. I had tried using a non-powered converter first, and the hazard lights would not flash since the tail lights exceeded the maximum 2.1 amps of the converter. This product has a maximum limit of 4.2 amps and meets the amperage requirements for the conversion. I have converted my Freightliner to haul gooseneck style trailers which come wired with electric brakes and a 7 pin RV connector. I installed the converter up in the dash area of the truck connecting to the wires located there. The RV connector is not compatible with the 7 pin commercial truck wiring so you have to make some wiring changes in addition to the conversion from 3 way to 2 way. But as to this product, it works great. I needed my converter shipped overnight because of a time factor on a must have basis, and eTrailer did just what was needed and the product arrived as promised. Also eTrailer had a tech contact me personnally to answer some questions about another product I had purchased from them over 5 years ago and was most helpful on that issue. As far as my opinions go, this company is great to do business with and I would highly recommend them for your trailer and wiring needs. They know their product, believe in customer satisfaction and customer service, and can solve your trailering problems and issues.

Ordered a similar product for my truck based on a Q&A from this site. Upon receiving the product I found it to be the wrong one. Easy fix for the dodge ram trailor light internal fuse problem. A lot cheaper to use this product than 400 for a new fuse box from Dodge. Customer service was very nice helping me out.

- Can Power Wire for Trailer Wiring Harness be Connected to 12 Volt Outlet on 2013 Volkswagen TiguanNo. The issue is that wiring harnesses # 119190 or # 119190KIT are tested and rated for a connection to the battery only. Installing them using any other method could cause undesired operation. Also, if connected to a 12 volt outlet, you will lose that level of circuit protection between your 2013 Volkswagen Tiguan and the trailer. Routing the wire is just time-consuming but not really difficult. I have included a link to a help article with tips on routing the power wire for you.
