Installation
This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located in the rear cargo area. You will have to remove the threshold panel and corner felt trunk liner to access this harness.
Once you've plugged in the T-connector, run the hot lead up to your car battery. Connect the lead to the included fuse holder, and then connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal on your battery and insert the provided fuse.
Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed in your rear cargo area.
It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.
A ModuLite power module is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. This power module functions as a tail light converter to combine the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.
With a ModuLite, your trailer's lights will be powered without overloading your vehicle's electrical system. Because the module draws power directly from your car's battery and bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

This was the only plug and play harness I found at the time for my car, but so far I'm very pleased. Due to amount of technology and sensitive electronics in these new cars, I wouldn't want to try to probe a bunch of wires and connect a standard trailer light kit. The voltage and current with the LED tail lights might not even trigger a standard kit. This kit made it much easier, although it's much more involved as you have to remove a bunch of panels, and run power to it. It's great that absolutely no wires were cut or tapped, and no holes needed to be drilled.
Couple of install notes:
* The instructions are for a sedan, but I installed it on a hatchback where you have to remove a few more panels. Nothing too complicated, but take your time and look for all the fasteners. The plug for the right rear is a little more involved as it's behind a few more things.
* The rear hatch weather stripping has to be pulled away in a few areas. It's got a sealant underneath it that is easy to get everywhere, so remove the stripping slowly and try not to make a mess - it sticks to everything.
* Instead of running to the battery, I used an add-a-tap fuse connection at the drivers kick panel fuse block. I used a 15amp fuse just like the package came with.
* I taped the module in the left rear area under the taillight where you ground it to a factory ground point near by.
I installed this on my 2019 Mazda 3 Sport. It was not a very hard install. In fact I was impressed with the kit having never done this before in my life. I’ve used it many times to tow two different trailers. There have been zero issues. If you are in Canada like me, I still recommend you get this one off etrailer. One year later they asked me to review this product… This was a good buy!
Great product, excellent customer service! Would recommend to anyone looking for a trailer hitch and harness.
Well built. Connectors fit perfectly. Now if I can just figure out the best way to get the power wire from the trunk to the battery in the engine bay. The instructions and pictures could be a little better and more descriptive.
Wiring was professionally installed and functioned without any problems all season.
Works as advertised.
The part worked perfectly!
