Installation

This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side tail lights. You will have to remove the tail light assemblies to access this harness.

T-One Connection Location Points Behind Tail Lights

Once you've plugged in the T-connector, run the hot lead up to your car battery. Connect the lead to the included fuse holder, and then connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal on your battery and insert the provided fuse.

Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed beneath your vehicle, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

ModuLite Powered Tail Light Converter

A ModuLite power module is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. This power module functions as a tail light converter to combine the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

With a ModuLite, your trailer's lights will be powered without overloading your vehicle's electrical system. Because the module draws power directly from your car's battery and bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

I installed this product on a 2005 Ford escape hybrid. It could not be simpler nor made any better. The fittings matched the Ford fittings perfectly, the instructions were very simple, and this is worth the cost! I’m very happy that I found this product on the Internet! Highly recommended!

I purchased a box hitch and wiring for my Ford Escape.
I did not install it but it went in without any problems and looks great.
I have used it for the last year without any problems at all.
The adapter slides in and out with ease so I can easily stow it away when not in use.
The extra cover on the end of the electrical plug is a nice touch.
I am 61 and this helps me enjoy my fishing boat that much more.

2006 Ford Escape

Everything needed to install trailer wiring on my 06 escape came ready to install. The instructions were easy and straightforward, making the whole thing smooth. Everything I expected and more. I highly recommend this product.

Great directions I have no mechanical ability and between the online videos/ paper directions I installed the trailer hitch and wiring. The huge positive being both work and I was quoted twice the price to have it done at different shops. Now I can take my recently purchased boat to the lake!!!

Life has been hectic for me since I bought and installed the Wiring Harness, and so the reason for not writing sooner. The item was exactly as shown and the installation was straight forward. The combination of the instructions and the etrailer You Tube video made the installation a breeze.
Once I had finished the install, I checked the wiring and all poles operated perfectly. One go at the install and, all was good to go.
I really do recommend this product.

The Tow Ready Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring harness is still working great one year later!

This solved all my trailer light problems. Easy to install, the instructions were clear and concise, I am pretty much worry free about my lights

I installed this item myself all at the same time watching and pausing the video! No Problem. Product was sent on time in good condition, and I would order again! I would make a couple of recommendations that would make installation a little easier: 1) better wire connectors 2) better wire ties

So far so good! Would order again! I could have never done it without the video!

Everything was included with good quality materials. There was a video on the eTrailer website that showed exactly how to install for my particular vehicle.

Arrived within 2 days. Everything packaged well and in great condition. Your site installation videos came in handy when I misplaced the instructions for the install. Will definitely buy from etrailer again.

2006 Ford Escape

Installed this with no issues, was just slow going compared to installing the hitch this was more difficult. I used the online video for directions, the only thing that could have made it easier was in video be more clear as to what clips get connected where when installing on the passenger side. Also if the harness was about two inches longer on driver side module would have been easier to attach to frame as it was just a little short and made it difficult. I would have like red power wire to have been just a bit longer also to make it easier to connect to. I also installed the 4-pole flat mounting bracket along with the no-drill mount for bracket which made for a very clean nice looking install. Very happy with results, now I need to do some work on the trailer lights and I'm ready to go!

2007 Ford Escape

This is a great place to order from. You can actually talk to a person.
I ordered a hitch for my 2007 Ford escape. It fit perfectly took about an hour to install including wiring harness.
Thanks

by:

Had a hitch and wiring assembly installed last year and pulled a rental trailer from Nevada to Minnesota. Only problem I had was running out of gas because I was driving into strong head winds and gas station that was on my GPS was closed. Really satisfied with both the hitch and wiring assembly.

I install this wiring harness on my 2006 ford xscape xlt. I will go ahead and tell you now that when you go to put on the ground wire to sand the paint off behind the tail light. I did not do this first so when I put my ground wire on and when to go test the lights they did not work. After sanding a spot of paint off and reattaching the ground wire it worked great. took about an hour to install and was very explained in detail in the video. I've read some bad reviews on this and I've read some good reviews on this I've been using this product for about 2 months now and no problems yet. I hope I never have to replace this product.

by:
2005 Ford Escape

This seems to be a good product. Everything is included for installation and the instructions are well written. I watched a YouTube video and followed the instructions. I'm not 100% sure if I have it wired right because I don't have a trailer to test it with. All the lights on the vehicle still work properly so I'm assuming everything is correct.

We offer an inexpensive 4-pin trailer connector tester as part # F5CT that would work well for you.

The e-trailer wiring harness that I installed a year ago failed because the power-conditioner failed. U-haul wanted to fix it by splicing in a new one. I said that is not the right way to fix it, I'll just buy a whole new harness that plugs into the vehicle's wiring system. I got a new, heavier-duty wiring harness and it works perfectly, and only the power wire is butt-spliced. The support that Tommy at e-trailer gave me was right-on. Thank you e-trailer. By the way, their hitches are very easy to install, I've done two so far, but I've many pulling years ahead. Bruce A.

Overall, this is an excellent & high quality kit.
The only minor issues I had with my application was that the light housings on the Mariner are different than the Escape. The Mariner only has 2 light bulbs while the Escape has 3. But the etrailer wiring kit still worked, just had to use a different plug than as defined in the instructions.
.
Overall, an excellent product, especially for the price!

by:

The trailer hitch fit perfect and I had good results with the coil wire that put the bolts into the frame. The wiring kit was easy also.I would recommend these products for the Diyers with mechanical aptitude.John in Customer Service was very helpful in answering all my concerns and put my mind at ease with purchasing these products and these products were very inexpensive.

by:

I love etrailer! You guys are awesome! Thanks to George J for all of his knowledgeable assistance. Ordering was fast and easier than I had expected. I saved so much money buying through you guys over having that trailer rental place doing it! Your detailed diy video was invaluable. etrailer is my go-to for trailer wiring harnesses.
Keep up the good work guy!

by:

The wiring harness for the trailer hitch that I received had a prong in the plug that had 2 prongs on the driver's side of the vehicle that was too short and was not making a connection. We had to cut off the old plug and splice that into the new harness for it to work.

by:
2005 Ford Escape

I am pleased with this T-connector (and everything else I've bought from e-trailer). The installation instructions were OK but the e-trailer video on youtube was VERY helpful when I was actually installing the wiring harness. I could play and pause the video at each step, just follow along, and that went very smoothly. Thanks!

2005 Ford Escape

This seems to be the most complete and easiest to install powered trailer light converter that I can find. This is my third unit in the same vehicle...first one failed because I didn't adhere it to the side of the vehicle (my fault)...it failed after two years. The second one lasted over 4 years and only the left turn indicator failed. After checkinig all connections I was able to determine that it was the controller. Once replaced 10/28/2013 all worked fine.
Ordering from etrailer was easy and arrived in just a few days via ground.

by:

Great company! Brenden made sure I got the right items I needed for my hitch and lights install. He also followed up to make sure I received the parts. Thank you, etrailer!

  • Troubleshooting # 118426 T-One Trailer Wiring Harness Installed on 2004 Ford Truck
Good thinking trying the boat on another vehicle, that's a simple way to troubleshoot that most folks don't think about. You've pretty effectively ruled out the boat as being the problem. I'd begin by relocating the point where the white wire with the ring terminal from the converter box attaches to the vehicle. Make sure you're connecting to clean, bare metal with no undercoat or corrosion. If you've grounded the circuit to the chassis (instead of the frame) putting the ground screw through...

  • Ford Escape tow package 2005
The most economical and expedient way to handle this would be to return the harness you have, and install the T-1 connector, part number 118426. Yes, the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118426 will absolutely fit your 2007 Ford Escape hybrid that does not have the factory tow package. The diodes that are installed on your Escape for flat towing will not affect the wiring harness or interfere with its effectiveness. • Troubleshooting Intermittent Trailer Tail Light Functions on a 2007 Ford Escape
It almost sounds like your trailer is drawing a little too much for the Tow Ready Harness # 118426 and it stops working temporarily. Usually when this happens the converter box will short out altogether so I would not continue to do this until you get something else figured out. The maximum amperage for this unit is 2.1 amps per circuit on the stop/turn lights and 4.2 for the tail lights. This is not incredibly high so it is reasonable that you might be overdrawing the harness. You might...

  • Left Hand Trailer Turn Signal Only Works with Right Hand Trailer Turn Signal
If I am understanding you correctly then you are saying that the left hand turn signal lights on the trailer only activate when the right hand turn signal lights are engaged? If this is the case then it does not sound like a turn signal relay but rather corrosion on the trailer connectors or a bad ground to either the trailer connectors or lights. The ground issue is attributed to nearly 75% of lighting troubles so this would be the first thing I check. The lighting assemblies will be either...
