Reese Quick-Install Custom Outboard Installation Kit w/ Base Rails for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches
part number: RP56034-53

    • Extended-length base rails allow for mounting farther out from truck frame
      • Avoids underbed components for easier access
      • Cuts down installation time by more than half compared with universal kits
    • Custom brackets mount to existing holes in truck frame, minimizing drilling and measuring
  • Thoroughly tested kit is compliant with strict Society of Automotive Engineers guidelines
  • Kit includes brackets, 10-bolt rails and Grade-8 hardware
  • Compatible with B&W, Curt, Demco Hijacker Premier Series, Draw-Tite, Hidden Hitch, Husky, Reese, and Valley above-bed 5th-wheel trailer hitches

Specs:

  • Base rail dimensions: 48" long x 1-7/8" tall
  • Limited lifetime warranty

Reese's outboard installation kit for your fifth-wheel trailer hitch was designed with safety and convenience in mind. Just like the original custom mounting brackets, these brackets install using existing holes in the truck frame, minimizing installation time. The biggest difference with this outboard kit is the extended-length rails. These above-bed rails are 5 inches longer than standard, universal fifth-wheel rails so that they will match up with the mounting points on the brackets, which sit below the bed and outside of your truck's frame. The result is a much simpler installation process, wherein most underbed components can be easily avoided. Because you are working outside the frame rails, you also have easier access with your tools and more room to work, making the whole process less of a pain.

The base rails included in this installation kit feature a standard 10-bolt design. Each of these rails attaches to the underbed brackets with two carriage bolts at both ends. A single bolt is used in the center of each rail to further secure it in your truck bed. The result is a set of base rails that remains firmly in place thanks to 10 points of contact.

This entire installation kit is built to be SAE J2638 compliant and has been extensively tested per specified accelerated-life-cycle criteria for fifth-wheel trailer hitches. The requirements for testing are based on the European-style test of 900,000 cycles, making this testing process among the most thorough and intensive in the industry.

  • Recommended 5th Wheel Rail Kit and Hitch for 2015 Ford F-350 Diesel
  • For your 2015 Ford F-350 Diesel, I recommend starting with the Reese Quick-Install Custom Installation Kit w/ Base Rails for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches # RP50026-58. These rails and brackets are compatible with the Diesel Exhaust Fluid tank on your truck. These custom brackets require no drilling into your truck frame. You won't have any issue with the hitch height and your bed rail height. Then if your have a short bed truck, I recommend the Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Round

  • How to Reduce Chucking and Jarring While Towing a 5th Wheel Trailer
  • Chucking and jarring while towing a 5th wheel trailer (or any trailer for that matter) is unavoidable because the trailer itself is not one piece with your vehicle. When your truck starts to move forward from a stop your trailer is still sitting static and so there will be a slight jolt; the same thing happens when you slow down. Since the front end of your trailer is connected to your truck, when your truck starts to slow down your trailer is still moving forward so it will give you a

  • Troubleshooting Coupling Issues With A Reese Sidewinder Pin Box And Reese 5th Wheel Hitch
  • There are a few options to help ease your Sidewinder's coupling with your Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # RP30047: 1. Make sure that your trailer is level. This will ensure that the king pin is going in straight. The jaws of a hitch are usually pretty forgiving but can bind up if the king pin is off center too much. 2. You can use a lube plate like # RP83002. This helps the king pin slide into hitch with ease and also helps prevent scratches to the skid plate. 3. Lube the jaws

  • In order to mount your Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # RP30047 to your 2020 GMC Sierra 2500 with the factory puck system, you will need an adapter because the hitch won't fit directly in the pucks as it is not designed for that. So what you'll need in order to use this hitch is the Demco 5th Wheel Rail Adapter for Chevy/GMC OEM 5th Wheel Towing Prep Package # DM6333. You will simply attach this adapter to the puck system in your truck and then attach your Reese hitch to the adapter

  • Jaws Will Not Release on Reese 16K 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch
  • Does the handle on the 5th wheel hitch offer any resistance when you pull on it to open the jaws? If it doesn't then that is an indication of a broken spring. But there is a second spring that could be missing as well. The trouble is you have to access the underside of the head to access the springs. If the hitch jaws will not release and the trailer is coupled then you can try to pry apart the jaws manually. Other wise you would have to release the head from the legs which I do NOT

  • Are Jaws Open Or Closed On Reese Fifth Wheel Hitch When Hooking Up To Trailer
  • If you have a Reese 16,000-lb 5th wheel hitch you will just need to remove the locking latch on the handle with the jaws closed. If you have a Titan 5th wheel hitch then you move the handle into the vertical position with the jaws closed. Wither the jaws closed and the hitches in the appropriate position you can hook your trailer right up as the jaws will open for the king pin on contact.

The only thing you would need is a fixed 5th wheel hitch and for that I recommend the Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # RP30047 because of the dual locking jaws which form a tight grip on the kingpin therefore making for a smooth ride. • Can a 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch be Adjusted Higher or Lower to Tow a 5th Wheel Trailer Level
  • First, I need to know if the truck in question has been lifted or if it just happens to be taller. Also, if it is lifted, I need to know if it is a suspension lift or body lift. If it is a body lift you will not be able to install a 5th wheel hitch because the bed will be too far from the frame. 5th wheel trailer hitches and most pin boxes on trailers are height adjustable. You can adjust them up and down a few inches to get a more level tow. With the truck and trailer on level ground

There are also white lithium grease sprays that you could use. After lubricating the hitch you should actuate the handle a few times so the grease gets in the nooks and crannies. You could then use hitch head cover # RP30055 to help keep out moisture and dust/dirt when not using the hitch.

That includes the reduction in height settings because of the slider. You can not tow your trailer with the hitch slid back though.
