Ask the Experts about this 5th Wheel Hitch
Do you have a question about this 5th Wheel Hitch?

  • Is the Curt A20 5th Wheel Hitch Compatible with the Lippert Rota-Flex Pin Box
  • I spoke with my contact at Curt who said that the A20 5th Wheel Hitch # C16140 is compatible with the Trailair Rota-Flex 5th Wheel Pin Box without any additional components. He did say that they have heard of instances where the rubber pad on the Rota-Flex pops out of place which results in it prematurely wearing down the head unit of the A20 but since that problem is with the pin box you would have this same issue with any 5th wheel hitch. If you are replacing your pin box and this

  • Grease Fitting Locations for Curt A20 Fifth Wheel Hitch
  • The zerk fittings for the Curt A20 hitch part # C16140 are located on the front of each jaw.The jaws must be in the closed and locked position for the zerks to be accessible. They are kind of hard to see but I attached a picture that points them out. Curt recommends high pressure grease like the part # L11465. If you need a grease gun we have part # L30200.

  • Trouble with Locking Handle Engaging on the Curt A20 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch
  • I spoke to my contact at Curt about your Curt A20 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # C16140 and they informed me that the locking handle issue is likely a result of improper lubrication. For starters, I would take some brake parts cleaner and spay down the jaws and the locking handle to ride any debris. Once you have let the jaws and handle mechanism dry then you can take some LubriMatic White Lithium Grease part # L11354 and work it onto these components while moving them back and forth to

  • Why Would Curt A20 Fifth Wheel Hitch Chuck with Travel Trailer
  • Hey Matt, that's frustrating to hear but my first question is what type of wedge are you using for the pin box and the A20? If it's a universal wedge that would be what I'd think the issue is. The custom fit wedge you'd need is the part # C16992. That should tighten up chucking quite a bit. Let me know what you have now for a wedge and we can go from there. Also if you see where the movement is that is causing the noise let me know.

  • Even though your 2022 Ford F-350 Super Duty 8ft bed has the OEM prep package you will still need The Installation rails # C88KR.This adapter is specially designed to attach to the receivers in your Ford's factory, underbed 5th wheel towing prep package. The rails have a weight capacity up to 25,000 pounds. The Curt A20 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # C16140 will attach to the rails mentioned above. • Comparing The Curt A16 And Q20 Fifth Wheel Hitches
  • With the Curt A16 # C16120 being a lower rated hitch than the Q20 # C16130 it's going to be a bit smaller. That being said, the A-Series does come with the wraparound jaws and a fully articulating torsion head to provide better cushioning from road shock and easier coupling than the Q-Series. The A16 is compatible with rotating pin boxes unlike the Q20 so you have a bit more versatility if you ever traded out your trailer. The A16 will also come with a limited lifetime warranty whereas

I do just recommend adding the Custom Wedge # C16992 to prevent the Revolution king pin from pivoting in the hitch. • Loose Connection Between Curt A20 Hitch and Curt Base Rails
  • Since you mentioned the cotter pins which are used to secure the feet inside the rails, that makes me that you are referring to the connection point between the rail and foot on one of the four corners of the Curt A20 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # C16140. If that is the case then you will want to inspect the hole on the foot, the hole inside the rail, and the pin that connects these together. The major difference is the A20 has interlocking jaws to further secure your king pin as opposed to the Q20 jaw locking system that do not interlock.
