Secure, Interlocking Two-Piece Jaw

A16 Two-Piece Interlocking Jaw

Unlike slide-bar models, the rounded, interlocking, two-piece jaw on this fifth-wheel trailer hitch inhibits rattle and movement by securely wrapping around your trailer's king pin, resulting in easier hookup and a safer, quieter ride.

Three-Point Indicator System

A16 Color Indicator System

Get peace of mind with Curt's color-coded lock indicator. Just look at the indicator - either the one on the handle or the one on the hitch itself - to determine whether the jaw is in the correct position to uncouple (red), couple (yellow) or tow (green).

Curt rebranded this fifth-wheel trailer hitch by changing its name from Q16 to A16 in 2016. All features and specifications remained the same.

This can be easily put together and installed by one person. I had to put the base into the universal rails loosely and then torque the bolts to spec. This hitch was an upgrade.from the autoslide hitch I originally purchased for my 5th wheel. The noise and banging has disappeared. This hitch was well worth the money. I also purchased the custom fit wedge for my pinbox. I don't believe I could be any happier with this hitch.

by: Alex 03/01/2025

I was very pleased with the Curt A16 5th wheel hitch. Unfortunately I ended up buying a new truck.(I no longer have a need for this hitch). My new truck has a shorter bed which requires a different hitch.

by: Harlan02/28/2025

Thus hitch works great, much quieter and more solid than previous setup. I needed more flex and articulation and this hitch definitely did the trick.

by: Matt05/02/2025

This hitch is has certainly served its purpose. Easy to use and reliable. My only complaint is that I can't seem to separate the hitch plate from the base. I thought it would be easier to separate the two components.

by: Chad Sanders02/16/2017

I was fully expecting a hitch in excess of 100 pounds to show up in a destroyed box. This did not. They had taken the Time and effort to cover the box with an additional layer of cardboard and it must have had a million staples in it. It was almost comical, you will need a crowbar or large screwdriver to get it open. However, when I did finally get the package open I found a perfectly un scratched hitch with no missing parts. I have not pulled with the hitch yet but , it does look like it is going to perform great. I'm using this in a 2006 ram 2500 4x4 short bed pulling a 2015 forest river Salem and it allows 91 degrees of turning due to the clipped corners on the front cap of the trailer. I will be curious to see how long the rubber isolators last before needing replaced and if they are readily available. Also the curt sticker on the hitch was peeling off when I took it out of the box, would be nice to get that replaced.

by: Douglas11/11/2024

This was a required piece to connect a fifth wheel mount. Was designed exactly for my 2016 F-150 and was timely to installed but worth the labor.

by: Mike07/06/2025

Instructions were easy to follow. Easy installation

by: Keith L.09/02/2019

Purchased this hitch, install kit, and wiring harness for a new to me 2015 F-250. After watching the installation video and reviewing the included instructions the install went smoothly. The only deviation from the instructions was instead of using a unibit to drill the 9/16" holes in the bed I used a Rotobroach hole cutter(the holes are cleaner and the bit does not drift. I hooked in to my fifth wheel for the first time on Saturday.

by: Lonnie02/12/2020

Installation of the Curt C16443-204 custom rail kit was a snap on my 2000 F350 dually. The instructions were pretty generic but not to hard to figure out. Once in place it was easy to line line everything up to fit the hitch in and tighten everything down.

by: Thomas01/16/2019

The hitch was simple to install. I also purchased the custom brackets to bolt the rails to the frame. Everything lined up exactly as it should. No drilling on the frame!!! I will review the hitch once I get more use out of it. It looks great though.

by: Wayne05/03/2020

Extremely pleased with the rails and hitch purchased from etrailer! The video and printed directions were very informative. One caveat though, the bolts inside the frame on the custom kit (2017Chevy 2500hd) are tough, 2 people are needed. We used magnet rods. The hitch(Curt A16) is great but the shipping was FANTASTIC. Ordered on 4/29 and received on 5/1. 2 days!!! Thank you Jane S. and etrailer!!

by: Ricardo09/19/2019

Great product, even better customer service, fast shipping, and a great price, installation was easy about 20 minutes, mounted on Reese mounting plate also from etrailer.

by: Earl10/11/2022

Instructions and pictures need to be easier to follow. Two person job to work well. Excellent delivery and service. Even at 75 years old I was able to install the hitch with some help. Too bad air tools would not work on installation.

by: Andrew 05/19/2024

I was able to install it myself after carefully watching (many times) and following the etrailer how to video. It has held up great and is a secure attachment for my Curt 5th wheel.

by: John N05/04/2020

I purchased both the Curt A16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch - Dual Jaw - 16,000 lbs - C16120, and Reese Pull Pin Lock Plates for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches - Qty 4 - RP58093 for my F350 SD 4X4 Crew Cab Long Bed. I'm pulling a 30' Retro 5th. Wheel and at times I pull my tandem axle UTV Trailer (Double Trailers) . I already had the rails installed in my truck, this fit right in and I used the new Pins and Lock Plates for securing to truck. I have pulled all over from South Dakota and the Northwest. The Hitch has performed Flawlessly. No bucking, nor clunking. Very quiet and smooth ride. I would recommend this set up to anyone for convenience of Hook up and Disconnect, Excellent towing, quiet, and the security of the lock pins. I use Disc locks to prevent access for bolt cutters.

by: JR08/28/2023

It arrived early. Great quality. Easy instructions with the video they have available on the web site. Had installed in a few hrs while working on another car at the same time.

by: Pat11/26/2020

It was easy to install and very solid, i towed my 16,000 5th wheel and it road very nice

by: Drew02/27/2025

Great product. Already assembled and in my truck.

by: Raymond07/29/2021

The hitch worked great, hooked and unhooked with ease.

by: Robert04/12/2024

Work great on my 2023 ford f350. And 38 ft 5th wheel very smooth when driving. Easy to hook up 5th wheel

by: Jeff 06/12/2024

Easy install. Good directions. No problems after 1 year.

by: Dave R.07/21/2017

We had this installed in our 2014 RAM 2500. We have only pulled the 5th wheel a couple of times but this hitch has worked very well. Hooking up and unhitching is very easy and straightforward. I like the colored indicator system that tells you when the hitch is locked on the pin. The head unit has rubber blocks where it is mounted to the base unit. This allows the head to rock side-to-side when you are parking the trailer on uneven ground. It also allows the trailer to rock slightly as you are pulling it and the movement of the trailer is not transmitted to the truck. However, it is kind of difficult to separate the head unit from the base because the rubber blocks fit very tightly in the pockets in the base unit. A little WD40 helps.

At this point, based on our limited usage, I would definitely recommend this hitch.

by: Peter C09/11/2016

Customer service for product selection and order entry were excellent and focused on my interests and needs. The hitch, custom installation kit, and harness were shipped very quickly and arrived sooner than expected. Everything arrived in excellent condition. Assembly and installation instructions were very clear and specific, and I was able to assemble and install everything with no problems and in a very reasonable amount of time. Total cost was roughly half of what it would have been if I had purchased the products and had them installed by a dealer. I am very satisfied with my experience dealing with etrailer.com, and would highly recommend them to anyone shopping for towing products.

by: Mark05/24/2024

Adam E provided invaluable assistance with part numbers, availability and compatibility. The order shipped the same day and I have now received it earlier than I had expected. Thanks

I send a product review and picture once I have completed installation.

by: Brice e03/31/2018

Got the hitch Friday, had it in the truck in about a half hour . Am impressed with the quality and looks. My second order with etrailer, my go to seller for anything campers and trailers. I did not experiance any problems with assembly or installation. Am starting on a 10000 mile trip in June, looking for a trouble free trip with the Curt hitch!

  • Since your 2022 Grand Design Reflection Series 280RS has a Lippert Turning Point pin box you can use a fixed hitch will weigh less than a slider hitch. So the lightest weight and easiest to use hitch would be the Demco Recon part # DM8550043 which weighs which is about 50 lbs lighter than most at 89 lbs.

  • Is it Possible to Adjust Jaws on Curt Q16 5th Wheel Hitch
  • I spoke with my contact at Curt about your Curt Q16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch, part # C16120, and he said a little play is to be expected in order for the pin to rotate freely. So the jaws should not fit too tightly around the king pin. The jaws are operated by springs. The first time you used your 5th wheel hitch the springs may have been a little stiff. By the second time you used the 5th wheel you likely loosened up the springs and the jaws, resulting in the play you noticed. Also if

  • Fifth Wheel Base Rail Kit For 2022 Ford F-150
  • The installation kit I highly recommend for your 2022 Ford F-150 is the following, from Curt: - Curt Custom Fifth Wheel Installation Kit for Ford # C93WR The reason for that is because this kit does not require any drilling into your truck's frame rails to install. Not having to drill is not only great for your truck but will benefit you whether you are doing the install yourself (saving hours) or having a professional do it (less install time equals less expensive labor costs).

  • Weight Capacity and 5th Wheel Hitch Recommendation for a 2018 Ford F-150
  • According to the 2018 Ford Towing Guide the specs of your 2018 Ford F-150 can tow a 5th wheel trailer weighing up to 6,700 lbs which is pretty small when it comes to 5th wheel trailers. With that in mind I recommend picking up the Custom Bed Rail Kit # C93WR which installs without drilling into your truck frame and then using the Curt A16 # C16521
