Quiet, Secure Ride

The 3/4" thick jaw on the Patriot is precision machined to provide a tight, sturdy connection. And unlike slide-bar models, the rounded 2-piece jaw on this fifth-wheel trailer hitch inhibits rattle and movement by securely wrapping around your trailer's king pin, resulting in easier hookup and a safer, quieter ride.

In addition to the sturdy jaw, the Patriot has durable polyurethane bushings built in to provide a smoother, more comfortable towing experience. These bushings sit on top of the pivot arms that support the fifth-wheel head. Because the head is resting on padded area, it is able to pivot without clanking. The ability of the head to pivot - both front to back and side to side - along with the trailer also helps to limit the chucking that may occur with a more static hitch.

Non-Binding Latch Handle

The dual jaw on the Patriot is operated by a simple-to-use cam-action handle. This handle allows you to quickly and easily release the jaws on the hitch, even if you are on uneven terrain. If any binding does occur between your truck and trailer, the jaws may remain closed after you move the handle to the open position. But because the handle is unlatched, there is nothing keeping the jaws closed except for the binding pressure. Therefore, simply driving your truck forward will be enough to force the jaws to open.

The cam-action handle is held in the closed position with the included pin and clip. For extra security, you can replace the pin with a sturdy padlock. The shackle on the lock you choose should have a diameter of 5/16", height of 3", and a width of 2-1/4".

Easily Adjustable Design

The B&W Patriot can be adjusted up and down for optimal positioning. As a result, this hitch can easily accommodate the height of your trailer.

Built-In Slider

Most often used on trucks with 6' beds, a slider helps to eliminate clearance problems during slow-speed turns. When you are towing a fifth-wheel trailer, your hitch must be situated on the cab side of your truck's rear axle. However, at slow speeds you can use a slider to slide the fifth-wheel hitch (and the trailer) toward your truck's tailgate and past the rear axle, creating enough space between the cab of your truck and the trailer to permit less-restricted turning.

The slider that is built into the base of the Patriot allows for 12" of fore and aft travel to give you the clearance you need.

Ask the Experts about this 5th Wheel Hitch
Do you have a question about this 5th Wheel Hitch?

  • Is The B&W Patriot W/ Slider Base Compatible With The Curt Adapter Rails # C88KR (16027)
  • Hey Ronnie, The crossbeam of the slider base on the B&W Patriot 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Slider # BWRVK3270 unfortunately sits too low and fights for the same space as the handles/side mounting plates of the Curt Rail Adapter # C88KR (16027) so they would not be compatible together. The Patriot slider unfortunately isn't compatible with any puck-to-rail adapter on the market currently. You would need to switch to the Companion OEM # BWRVK3775 which would have the correct mounting points

  • Comparing the B&W Patriot and Demco Hijacker AutoSlide Sliding 5th Wheel Hitches
  • We do not offer the Pullrite brand but in my research it does appear to compare to our Demco Hijacker AutoSlide like # DM8550024. Both the B&W and Demco 5th wheel hitches are great for the short bed user. What will make the difference is the clearance needed by the user to have adequate turning clearance. For me personally also effort. I have personally had to slide the B&W 5th wheel hitch # BWRVK3270 and it was by far one of the easiest, by a landslide, since the unit was built

  • Compatible Puck Adapter B&W Patriot 5th Wheel Hitch
  • The B&W Patriot Sliding 5th Wheel Hitch, part # BWRVK3270 is NOT compatible with the Reese # RP30156 puck adapter, you'll want to use the Demco # DM6175, which is compatible. If you don't have a 7-way in your truck bed, you can install one using part # 50-97-410-010. I've linked to some product videos for the products mentioned above

  • Adapting Patriot 5th Wheel Hitch to 2025 GMC 3500 With OEM Prep Package
  • Hi Bob; is your Patriot the slider # BWRVK3270 you looked at or the fixed # BWRVK3255? I know you said fixed mount hitch but since you looked at the slider I want to be sure. If it is the fixed hitch you can use the Adapter Rails for Curt 5th Wheel Hitch # C88KR. If it is the slider there are no adapters available that will allow you to use it with your new 2025 Sierra 3500. The design of the Patriot slider doesn't have enough clearance for it to work with an adapter. The only option

  • Hey Jerry, the height range of the B and W Patriot Slider part # BWRVK3270 is measured from the top of your fifth wheel rails to the top of the hitch's head. The range for this hitch is 17-19 inches. If that doesn't work for you what would be your ideal height range?

The correct fit for your truck is the following: - BAK Revolver X4s Hard Tonneau Cover # BAK64ZR The Revolver X4s # BAK64ZR is a hybrid cover which means it is a hard cover with aluminum slats, but also rolls up so you get the convenience of being

  • Why Is 5th Wheel Trailer Clunking When Starting/Stopping with B&W Companion and MORryde Pin Box
  • The B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # BWRVK3700 is perfectly compatible with cushioned pin boxes like your MORryde RP072-1621HD, so the clunking you're experiencing isn't related to the two components being incompatible. With that being said, the Companion 5th Wheel Hitches feature one of the nicest jaw designed on the market, so this clunking during starts and stops isn't exactly normal, either. One thing I might check first is that the brakes are engaging properly on the

  • Can a Sliding 5th Wheel Hitch Be Used With a Short Bed 2019 GMC Sierra 3500
  • I do not, Ed. But what I can tell you is that if you don't have a rotating pin box that you need a sliding 5th wheel in order to get the clearance needed for 90 degree turns. If you don't use a sliding hitch, and you don't have a rotating pin box, then your 5th wheel is almost certainly going to hit your truck's cab. • Does Truck with 6-1/2 Foot Bed Need a Slider Hitch
  • Beds shorter than 8 foot do commonly need a slider hitch David, but a lot of modern fifth wheel trailers are now made with tapered noses to help and in a lot of cases a slider isn't required. So if the trailer you plan to tow has a tapered nose and an extended pin box that sticks out past the nose of it you'd be ok with a fixed hitch like the B and W Patriot part # BWRVK3200. Otherwise a slider hitch like the part # BWRVK3270 that you referenced would be needed.
