Video Transcript for TorkLift Front Frame-Mounted Camper Tie-Downs Review

Speaker 1: Today, we're going to be taking a look at TorkLift's line of custom frame mounted camper tie downs for the front. You want to verify here at etrailer.com using our fit guide, which ones work best for your vehicle. There are sets also available that will fit your vehicle available for the rear. These custom mounted brackets are going to provide an easy attachment point to hook up your camper. What's additionally great about those is that they have the removable ends. So when you're not using it, they'll be hidden away, and your vehicle will look like factory. The custom mounted brackets we're engineered to provide you with the best location for your tie down point to even distribute the load.

So, once they're attached, and adjusted. This'll keep your camper from being too top heavy. This'll increase the overall ride quality while you're campers attached, and the safety. It's made of a durable steel with a black powder coat finish, which'll ensure that you have a strong attachment point, and it'll be highly resistant to corrosion. When you are ready to use them, you can just slide in the attachment point. There's two points here to attach your turn buckles, and here on the shaft there are two points that will give you an adjustment inward, and outward, to specifically fit your camper.

So, you can use this hole for a wider camper, or this hole for an aero camper. Once you've got your appropriate hole, slide the pin through, and bring the latch over, and lock it in place. Then you can attach your turn buckles. Now if you need some turn buckles you can pick them up here at etrailer.com. There are many a different styles. From chain types, to quick attach lever types.

Our style is going to a be a threaded rod type that will hook to your camper, and down to our attachment point. We'll adjust it snug by turning our turn buckle here. With our passenger side done, we'll repeat that same step on our driver's side.Compared to stake pocket, our bumper mounted camper tie downs, frame mounted tie downs will provide better handling. They also mount out of sight, giving your truck a cleaner look, because the custom fit brackets secure tight against your trucks frame there is no loss of ground clearance. That completes our look at TorkLift's line of custom frame mounted camper tie downs for the front..

These front tie downs bolt on easy and hold solid like you need. Low profile appearance - don't stand out when not using and inserts removed. Great product - love mine! I bought both the front and rear. You won't be disappointed. 397839

Torklift tiedowns work great. I was worried about installing them myself but was able to do it. It was a little tricky but not too bad. Highly recommend. Installed on a 2016 Ford F-150. 499793

The rear tie-downs have functioned very well, and were generally easy to install. The corresponding front tie-downs were not so easy. They did not fit exactly, probably due to the fact that my F-150 had a heavy duty suspension and extra load capacity, so the alignment of holes was not perfect. I had to do some modification that was a challenge, but I succeeded (I think!). The system has functioned just fine for a couple of trips. 711766

I received outstanding service from Lori at etrailer.com. When I called with questions concerning which truck camper tie down to order, Lori steered me to the correct location on the etrailer webpage and then personally took my order for me over the phone. The speed and efficiency of the etrailer shipping is as good as it gets. I had my truck camper tie down kits within two days of placing the order and I live in Wyoming. I highly recommend this company to anyone wishing to purchase camper accessories online. 683953

These camper tie downs have been fantastic! They were easy to install and have made securing my camper a breeze. I really like how easy it is to pull the tie down portion of the brackets out when you aren't carrying the camper. In my opinion this is the only way to secure a truck camper. 400096

Review from a similar TorkLift Frame-Mounted Front in Camper Tie-Downs

Installation took roughly 1.5hrs, with drivers' side being more of a challenge. Couldn't have taken the 2 factory bed bolts out without an pneumatic impact wrench (and 18mm socket) and a needle nosed vice-grip was key in holding the front welded nut bar while treading the bolt into it. Also, note the driver' and passenger's are slightly different in angles (the instructions could be better to identify which is which, or at least each one marked as such). Looks good and solid! Very happy with the product design and the overall instructions. The corresponding D3109 (rear tie-downs) were very simple installation (~1hr), however the pneumatic impact was definitely needed to take out the 6 factory bolts. 642389

Both the product and the service are top notch. I ordered the front and rear tie-downs for a 2006 Silverado. The easy to follow instructions made it easy to install the customized tie downs. We have been on the road several times since I installed the tie downs and all the miles I've traveled were with confidence that my camper was secure. Oh, the other great feature is that they are removable when not in use. Thank you etrailer! 672501

I've had these installed about a year now. Have been on trips from Missouri to California and back and another trip to Wyoming/Colorado.New Mexico and back. Tie downs worked as expected. The installation isn't too bad, having someone to help makes the installation easier. The one thing that could be better is that you have to fish bolts thru the frame to install these -- that wasn't too bad but I'm not sure how you would ever get them back out to move to another vehicle. I trade pickups every few years and would want to move them from one to the other. I guess I'll cross that bridge when the time comes. 633577

These fit great and work WAY better than trying to get the sheet metal of your truck bed to hold the camper down. The part that extends out from under the truck comes off with the removal of the clip pin. I store them with the turnbuckles when the camper is not loaded. The part that bolts to the frame is well under the bed and does not cause any problems staying on the truck full time. 556118

I bought this and the companion tie down for Ford F250 truck and the Northstar Laredo truck camper. I traveled 12K miles without incident. They worked perfectly. The only thing I had to do was to shorten the pieces that slip in (removable) for this combination they were a little too long and the Fastguns would rub the jacks in the front. I shorted the rears as well. 512921

These frame mounted Torq lift tie downs are the only way to go. My previous ‘bumper’ mount tie downs fell off due to bumper flex. These frame mount tie downs do not flex and the camper is rock solid on the truck. Combine with a set of ‘Fast guns’ and you have the best, most secure system on the market. 595350

Very solid and well made, although installation is tedious and the instructions could be better illustrated and worded. On my 2018 F250 the upper bracket bolt is very difficult to position and tighten because of proximity to the nearby bed hold-down bolt. Using clothes pins to temporarily hold the frame bolts in place helps to avoid dropping them into the frame rail where they are lost forever. Good product, but the price is hard to swallow. 668317

Mounted at the same time I installed TFL1002 Super Duty trailer hitch. Simple install and construction of tie downs are heavy duty. Much stronger than anything mounted to the rear bumper (happijack mounts). Extensions slide right in and are secured with pin and clip. When removed they are barely noticeable looking at the truck from the side view. 461406

Review from a similar TorkLift Frame-Mounted Front in Camper Tie-Downs

I have a 2018 model F450 so was a little hesitant due to the year not coming up as an option. The fit was fine with perfect alignment, though, and the extensions worked with the open backed factory running boards. I assume the finish was fine at the factory but there was some scuffing on the parts by the time they got to my door. The work around for getting the bolts situated in a boxed frame was a bit of a pain. Unlike the videos where the tech walks up to the frame on a lift, most guys will end up on their backs under the truck trying to feed little wires through at an angle from hole to hole. Hint: I used a small flex gripper to grab the "threads" and pulled the puller. It was a little stiffer and more manageable. Ever think of a heavy duty winged bolt similar to those used for drywall? That would make the installation much easier. 506254

Parts are well made and fit perfectly. Installation is a tricky matter as the frame bolts have to be fished thru one small hole and bought out another a foot and half away. The thought of dropping a bolt in your frame is fearful as it would rattle in the frame the life of your truck with no easy way to retrieve. Thankfully all went well and they work great. Used on 2017 Silverado 1500. 549926

2006, Dodge 2 wheel drive, w/ dual rear wheels. This product is fool proof. Installation wasn't too bad (2 1/2 hours for all 4), but I blame my tools, right? Shipped quickly, matter of fact, arrived a day early. No doubt it'll hold our much larger, newer camper VERY securely and give me piece of mind on twisting mountainous roads and desert cross winds. Install was straight forward and simple. I respect the use of paper for the protective packing material, but the mounts were somewhat scraped up upon arrival. Nothing that some spray paint didn't fix up easily. And for the rear mounts on my 2016 Nissan Titan XD, TorkLift could have supplied the correct amount of washers. There were the correct amount as per shipped in instructions, but the mounts require a total of 6 washers, not 4. And the one rear mount was a little out of square. The front mounts went on with no issues. I think TorkLift could have raised up the receiver part of the mount, so that I could still use my stock Nissan running boards. In order to use the front mount, I had to completely remove both running boards. 398843

Review from a similar TorkLift Frame-Mounted Rear in Camper Tie-Downs

On my 2017 Ram 2500 HD, were easier to install than the front ones because you don't have to put that bolt inside the frame. There is a standoff for a wire on each side that had to be removed, and will need to be secured with a cable tie or something (see attached picture). I had to remove my Trekstep from the driver's side, but I knew I would have to do that, so no big deal. Again, these are very sturdy, thus very heavy, and lighter aluminum tie downs might be considered to reduce weight. 591090

I got these tiedowns because i purchased a new truck. Had them on my old truck that we carry a 2004 s&s camper on. Torklift makes it as simple as can be with a truly bolt on tiedown. Made specifically for my truck not a one size fits all. I also love that there are multiple mount and attachment points on the end. Great product and shipped fast as well. 469560

Etrailer delivery was great. The torklift product F2011 on my 2010 F250 went along very easy, for a mildly experienced homeowner. One issue on the product. The 5/8 Hook Brackets that attach the device to the frame. I needed to use a metal file at a weld point so the 1/2 inch bolt would pass through. Torklift quality control really should have caught this issue. No big deal to correct with a metal file. May have held me up 5 minutes. Another issue with the product I found several pinpoint areas on the standard bent inserts that if left would break the skin. A tap with a wrench which was handy knocked them down. Just a finish issue. Looking forward to my Truck Camper in a couple of months when my custom built will be complete. On the bright side of the Torklift F2011 it went on with none of the problems seen on youtube. No fishing for bolts. Maybe it is just the 2010 Ford F250 build that fit well but made all the difference. 335994

Review from a similar TorkLift Frame-Mounted Front in Camper Tie-Downs

Product is well engineered. It bolted up nicely. Black and white photos are not shape enough to be of much help. A drawing would be better. Accessory package was missing rectangular retainer washers. (A huge inconvenience). Company did make amends for inconvenience. This is a useful, and well designed product. I'd give it an excellent rating if instructions were a bit more detailed. 293091

Review from a similar TorkLift Frame-Mounted Rear in Camper Tie-Downs

I really don't write reviews often but when everything is perfect is worth the time. I am a repeat Etrailer customer so it didn't surprise me that my shipment was complete and received in two days. These TorkLift frame mounted camper tie-downs are high-quality, heavy duty and powder coated. I put a full set on my new 2016 Ford F350 SRW 4 X 4 and will be using them with a Lance 855S truck camper. Installation went flawless without any drilling or adjustments. Instructions were clear and to the point. The most important benefit to the product is that your camper is held to your truck by the frame and not the bed and bumper. This reduces camper sway, movement and stress on the truck body. As far as appearance the tie down arms are removable for when the camper is not in use. This sure beats drilling holes in your truck bed, bumper and attaching brackets that permanently stay on the truck. Hats off to etrailer and TorkLift! 427826
