With the Companion from B&W, you get a heavy-duty fifth-wheel trailer hitch that mounts in your truck bed by connecting directly to a custom underbed mounting kit with the included components. No modifications are required to your truck or trailer. And no additional parts are required for the system to work. When you're done towing, the entire hitch can be removed for complete bed access.
Quiet, Secure Ride
The 1" thick jaw on the Companion is precision machined to provide a tight, sturdy connection. And unlike slide-bar models, the rounded 2-piece jaw on this fifth-wheel trailer hitch inhibits rattle and movement by securely wrapping around your trailer's king pin, resulting in easier hookup and a safer, quieter ride.
In addition to the sturdy jaw, the Companion has durable polyurethane bushings built in to provide a smoother, more comfortable towing experience. These bushings sit on top of the pivot arms that support the fifth-wheel head. Because the head is resting on a padded area, it is able to pivot without clanking. The ability of the head to pivot - both front to back and side to side - along with the trailer also helps to limit the chucking that may occur with a more static hitch.
Non-Binding Latch Handle
The dual jaw on the Companion is operated by a simple-to-use cam-action handle. This handle allows you to quickly and easily release the jaws on the hitch, even if you are on uneven terrain. If any binding does occur between your truck and trailer, the jaws may remain closed after you move the handle to the open position. But because the handle is unlatched, there is nothing keeping the jaws closed except for the binding pressure. Therefore, simply driving your truck forward will be enough to force the jaws to open.
The cam-action handle is held in the closed position with the included pin and clip. For extra security, you can replace the pin with a sturdy padlock. The shackle on the lock you choose should have a diameter of 5/16", height of 3", and a width of 2-1/4".
To install the Companion, first bolt the included RV post to the Companion's base. This post is what inserts into the hole in your truck bed. The RV post attaches to the base in 1 of 2 ways to allow for improved cab clearance and proper positioning over your truck's axle.
The next step is to set up the Companion's pivot arms. The arms are what allow the hitch to be adjusted front to back as well as up and down for optimal positioning. As a result, this hitch can accommodate the height of your trailer and also help to give you the cab clearance needed to execute turns while towing.
To adjust either the height of the hitch or the fore/aft positioning, just attach the hitch's pivot arms in the desired location on the base. The above diagram gives an indication of where to mount the arms so that you get the height and the cab clearance that you need.
The hitch head installs on top of the pivot arms. When you have the head in position, simply secure it to the arms with the included pins.

Simple, Custom Installation
This kit is custom designed for your vehicle. The mounting brackets bolt to existing holes in your truck's frame. While some modification is required - you will need to cut a 3-1/2" diameter hole in your bed for the hitch ball and drill holes for the built-in safety chain loops - there is no need to weld onto or to drill into your frame.
Once you have the brackets and center section installed, set up the operating handle. This handle is designed to be accessed from the rear driver's-side wheel well. On the end of the handle is the heavy-duty steel pin that secures the mounting post of the Companion (or the base of the gooseneck hitch ball).

There are two main pieces. Fasten runners on the bottom of each of the two legs that sit in the bed grooves. Attach the large square pin that goes in the hole in the bed to the main base(there are several bolting patterns depending on where you want the 5th wheel assembly to sit in the bed) and set it in place. Item is heavy even without the upper part (5th wheel plate assembly). Best done by two people. 5th wheel plate assembly also heavy, but can be handled by one person. The construction of this hitch is very heavy duty. The reason I gave this a low rating was due to the condition it was in when it arrived. There were parts missing. One of the handles that releases the upper hitch from the base was bent. There were numerous chips and deep scratches in the paint. For the amount of money I spent on this hitch I expected it to be brand new and undamaged. I sent emails with pictures to etrailer, they were supposed to issue me a credit but I never heard back from them. 1282767

My only issue is they should supply hard washers and better quality lock washers. 2 of them bent so bad I had to remove them and file the heads to get the huge burrs off to tru to seat another one. If you supply high strength bolts you need to supply a higher grade lock washer it it just tears up the power coat . 866306

Great hitch!Worked out great nice that BW has such good quality control ,it fit better than you could hope for.Only thing I did was drill the 3 1/2 " hole the placed the hitch upside down in the hole ,squared it in the box the marked the 4 safety chain u-bolt holes with a 9/16 " bit ,this gave me the centres of the holes then drilled pilot holes then the 9/16 " holes all from the top in the box.I found that much easier and this worker perfect.Will use etrailer.com again for sure.Keep up the good work. 249642

This is my third B&W companion 5th wheel hitch. The first two were the old version. I like the updates they have made too the unit making it stronger and the narrower base. My only complaint is with UPS shipping which tore up the shipping box and dumped it on my driveway without even notifying me, luckily the hitch wasn't damaged and nothing missing. 1122871
I would like to say that I was not looking forward to putting this hitch on my truck. I heard nothing but nightmares and horror stories, but it couldn't be farther from the truth. I had a friend come over to help (glad I did cause that turnoverball hitch would have been a bear to hold up by yourself. It was ten times easier than I would have imagined. Just follow the instructions and it's a piece of cake. We had the turnover all hitch on in less than 2 hours. Unfortunately I had a rusted brake line that I had to repair before completing the job. Nice hitch, well made, good adjustment options. It's heavy around 200 lbs so tough to manuever even with the head detached. Get a hoist and the B&W lift attachment. I just got my lift adapter. Its how I manage to report an approximate weight. Tows well. Doesnt like to hook up at much of an angle. Back up camera alignment markers help but have to lower tailgate to finish hook up. Would like to add different cutout tailgate but few offer a camera install option. Future purchase. Good hitch. 962141

Great hitch! I like the jaws completely closing on the king pin. There is no jarring back and forth while on the highway. Connecting and disconnecting is a breeze. I love having extra adjustments. Quiet and secure. Nice- The gooseneck hole is the only visible feature in the bed when pulled out. Three problems- 1) WAY TOO HEAVY. Two men and a boy required to lift in and out. 2) Receiver tube protrudes bottom making it inconvenient to slide, store. 3) Top plate fits so snug, and king pin has zero vertical play in latch so it's difficult to judge when your trailer has raised to correct height to unhitch. So let me start off by saying, This is not a “light” hitch that handles easy in and out of the truck. However, I don’t buy my hitches for the ease of removal, I buy it for the safety of my family and investments while on the road. Any other things like ease of use and removability are bonuses. It is also not to hard to get it in and out of the truck. Very easy to separate the coupler from base and the base from truck. This hitch in my opinion is the best you can get! Because it is pulled down tight to the bed of your truck, it eliminates the chucking and jarring of conventional hitches. The tolerances are tight! In a good way! Super easy to hitch up and unhook on different types of terrain. Solid connection between truck and trailer. The coupler has a shock absorber that is on the roll axis(tipping left or right) which is amazing!! It allows some give but keeps it solid! This is especially important when towing through unexpected crosswinds. B and W really makes a great product! I would use nothing less! I also think the 20k is being very modest. Which is awesome that b and w doesn’t just throw the highest number they can legally display like some other hitches that claim 24k and 25k I wouldn’t trust a 12k trailer on! If you want the best and most reliable 5ver hitch, this is it. Spend the extra for the peace of mind and comfort. 941278
The product arrived in two cardboard cartons. I am still in the process of installing the hitch in the bed of the new pickup. The Turnover ball was installed under the bed by an approved vendor. I plan to use the hitch to securely tow a 28 foot fifth wheel trailer. The previous hitch was a slide-bar type and served us well in years with a smaller trailer. We found that the hitch load of the trailer was close to the maximum capacity of our tow vehicle. We upgraded to a new pickup in March. This was recommended by a friend who has one; He has excellent experience with his hitch. He demonstrated it to me and showed how the hitch can be removed to use the bed for hauling materials such as plywood sheets. This will provide a larger factor of safety in towing a large fifth wheel trailer. 628753

This became an issue for me and I had to contact B&W for a more expensive slider hitch base. Please note this on your product listing for future users. The hitch arrived in two boxes and was complete and undamaged but I can't say that for the boxes that was used for shipping. Since these items are so heavy I'm not sure a cardboard box is the way to go...The larger (and the heaviest) box was completely destroyed by the time UPS got done with it and the smaller box was broke open. I was really surprised to see that all of the hardware was still with the hitch because nothing was keeping it from falling out and being lost in shipment. Someone needs to re-think the packaging. Easy to install. I have left this exposed for the last year and it looks like I just put it in. I do wish the locking pin for the jaw lock lever was in a different location. --------------This is a very strong hitch with an innovative mount.-------------------- I have been using the hitch for about a year now. I purchased the combo kit with the gooseneck in bed parts as well as the 5th wheel assembly. I purchased this unit because it can provide both the gooseneck and 5th wheel modes. I installed mine in a 2014 RAM 3500 DRW which already has the basic structure under the bed so the install went very well. I completed the install at home, which took about 4-5 hours. The instructions are clear and easy to follow, plus there are several installation demonstration videos online for my exact truck, so after watching those it was no problem. The 5th wheel works well with no squeaks or rattles. I pull a 35' 13,500lb toy hauler. The hitch parts are made of thick heavy steel which really gives confidence it will pull the heavy loads. The king pin jaws also seem a bit larger and more heavy duty than other hitches with the same ratings. The hitch also has a lot of adjustments both up and down, and for and aft, which helped to dial in the hitch very well to my trailer. It does convert from 5th wheel to gooseneck easy enough. Just remember it does require a socket to relieve the tension on the gooseneck adapter before it can be released. This is not a big deal, just makes sure to bring a wrench along if you are planning to swap modes while away from home. There is only one small aspect that keeps me from rating the hitch as excellent. I have noticed that the paint/coating scrapped of rather easily in the mouth of the coupler. I guess I rubbed the side of the mouth with the trailer pin when coupling up and it caused the paint to scrape off. Since then the coating is also starting to peel all around the jaw area. 264228

I own a RAM 3500 with an 8ft bed. The truck came with the B&W gooseneck base. I was hesitant on buying the companion because my previous 5th wheel hitches were installed on ISD. The companion is a great product and very easy instructions and installation. What I like most about the hitch is that the base can be swapped out for a slider if you have a smaller truck bed. I've been using it for the past couple of months and am pleased with the companion hitch to pull a 35' fiver. The only thing I could have used in the instructions were recommendations for positioning (due to my lack of experience), but my initial placement worked out just right, the rig is well balanced, hauls very well and without chucking. Plenty of space in my longbed truck to clear a 50Gl. auxiliary tank and toolbox (and no worries about busting the back window out). Since I've got a bit of a steep learning curve ahead (I've hauled plenty of bumper pulls and goosenecks, but this is my first big 5th wheel), I greatly appreciate the ease of use as well as being able to free up my bed space when I reach my destination. I got this hitch 2 years ago and I love it. Easy to use. My only beef is it's best feature, the weight. You have to be one strong individual to lift this unit,( thankfully I am ). I do suggest installing a remote cable hoist in your garage to lift and lower this beast. I picked this up because I wanted to get rid of the goose-neck that the previous owner had put on my 5th wheel camper and go back to towing with the kingpin. I already had a B&W turnover ball installed in my truck so this hitch made a lot of sense to buy. The hitch goes in fairly easy, but be warned it is quite heavy. I can manage it by myself but feel much better having someone help my get it in the truck. It tows great and it very well built. I would highly recommend it to anyone that has a turnover ball and does not want to drill a bunch of holes in the bed of their truck. 431357
The supplied plastic rails that are supposed to fit into the gloves of the bed are too thick. Other than that, it's heavy. I have had one back surgery. The base is heavy and awkward the post that goes into the gooseneck receiver protrudes a lot, making it more difficult to move around. Having to tighten the bolt to grab the securing pin could have been a wing nut type set up. Have to use a hammer to get it to release from the truck bed. Like it binds to prevent removal. Don't get me wrong. So far this hitch has preformed well. Love the fact that once the hitch is removed. My truck bed is free of obstructions. I over load everything. This hitch has handled everything I've thrown at it. Happy with the purchase. Not worried about panic braking with a heavy load. Good weight distribution on the bed. No bending of the bed. Seriously consider this hitch. Just get a pulley system to help remove it from the bed. 455963
Excellent Product, I am using this underbed with a companion 5th Wheel hitch and I love the versatility of the gooseneck or 5th Wheel set-up and also the completely flat,no bars bed when I take of the companion. Install was easy for someone with lots of experience with car modifications and it took me around 2 hours at a slow pace to install. Instructions were clear, maybe a tiny bit unclear for the explanation regarding the pin position for long bed trucks, but videos online clear that up easily. Hitch work very well to unhook, you don't have to hammer the jaws but you do have to find that sweet spot level Wise and anglewise where it releases easily. So far, very impressed with the Hitch, very quiet because of the incorporated Polyurethane bushings, easy to take off the bed, albeit the Hitch is a little heavy, but I'd rather have a heavier well made Hitch than a flimsy one thats lighter. If you take off the head separately, it makes it way easier to remove. If you're older and not as strong, I'd recommand doing it with 2 people instead of by yourself. Instructions were very good, I love the way the 2 skids "lock" into the grooves of the bed, makes for an incredibly stable and movement free Hitch. Ordered the B & W under bed 5th wheel/gooseneck adapter with Companion 5th wheel hitch for my new 2016 Ram 3500 4 X 4. Items were delivered on time and in a timely manner. My wife and I installed the under bed adapter in about 3 hours without a hitch! The video's on e trailer's web site were extremely helpful. A helpful hint for buys..... use a nylon strap passing it thru the new hole in the bed down thru the adapter ball hole and attach to a block of wood placed across the ball hole and have you partner pull up into position while supporting and aligning from the bottom side. I installed this in my 06 mega cab. I was a little concerned with turning clearance and a short bed initially. Not to worry, there a adjustments to push the hitch back in the bed. That, along with the max turn corners on my fifth wheel, I have zero issues pulling, backing or turning. The only drawback I would have is the weight of the unit. I ordered this hitch and the companion to tow a 5th wheel toy hauler eventually. Installation, went according to the instructions with a minor variance. I installed this in a 2015 Ram 3500 with the auto leveling air suspension and had to relocate one electrical wire and one air hose. Having two people to complete the install helped a lot as did removing the spare tire and heat shield. Installing the companion 5th wheel hitch to this was a no brainer. I just held up hitch and put the bolts in, if you are not comfortable holding 50 ish pounds while starting bolts I’d recommend having a fried help or using a come along from the rafters. From a manufacturing standpoint this hitch is in a class of its own. The tolerances and design are far superior to any other hitch on the market in my opinion. The biggest thing I like about this hitch is how it only needs the Goose Neck hitch for use. When you don't have it in you have your full bed to use as a truck. My previous truck had rails that were always in the way. One thing to note is even though this will break down in to two pieces, they both weigh enough to give one person problems. This is a beautiful hitch, it went in great, I had a friend help me do the install. It took me 4 hours to put in the under-bed mount kit, assemble the 5th wheel and add the wiring. I could probably do it in less than half the time now that I have done it once. I am happy with the final result. After buying a 2021 Silverado 2500, we decided to purchase a new hitch to replace the sliding Reese hitch we have used for the past 10 years. Our truck has a 6'9" standard bed. With the rounded front caps on newer 5th wheels, we decided we could use a fixed mount hitch instead of a slider. After reading reviews online, we purchased the B&W Companion Hitch with the puck system. It was quick to assemble, and with the ability to separate the plate assembly from the base it is easy to take in and out of the truck. This hitch also allowed the option to set it up so the trailer pin sits 2" behind the back axle. Every trailer is different, but this feature allows us to jackknife our trailer to 90 degrees with 1" clearance from the back of the cab. The hitch has three different height settings and we chose the middle setting. This gave us 7 1/4" clearance between the trailer overhang and the truck bed sides. Once we added our Tonneau Cover rails we still had 6" of clearance. Hooking up to this hitch is a great deal easier than our previous Reese hitch. It also pulled much smoother and quieter with the dual jaw configuration. Additionally, the smaller footprint in the bed of the truck should allow us more cargo room if needed. We are very happy with this purchase and expect to use this hitch for many years. Buying through etrailer was a positive experience. Pros: Simple to operate (once installed). I like the way the locking arm engages when you back into the kingpin. Very little (or no) chucking. Due to heavy construction, provides a bit more confidence especially towing 20K. Cons: HEAVY (and for the Ram puck version) extra large base taking up even more truck bed. Top portion is relative easy for one person to install/remove. The bottom portion is a whole new ballgame. Definitely two man operation to install bottom. Locking levers never "engaged" in exactly the way described in the literature but after calling tech support, I'm OK with it. Would give 5 stars if it wasn't so dang big and heavy :( 857805

This is a great product, easy to install . For those of you that have a extra fuel tank toolbox combo You need at least 6/1/2 to 7 inches from center of puck to tool tank for it to fit. My fuel tank toolbox combo is 20 inches deep or wide that is the most it can be. Included are a couple of pictures but not easy to see as i have a couple of tie straps around tank as well as a bolt down .Also when I have it in the slide back position. Trailer will just barely clear tail gate, but I can leave tail gate down with no problem, it would depend on your trailer.. etrailer is great to work with and have some great videos to help. 1243956

The build instructions and documentation are very well done and relatively easy to follow. Read and familiarize yourself with entire documentation before you start. Great experience! Called first to ensure the hitch I wanted was in stock due to shortages and delays in shipping from other companies. The associate I talked to was very helpful and ensured I was ordering the right hitch for my truck. I ordered it on a Monday morning and received two of the three boxes the following Monday. The last box arrived on Tuesday. Due to the parts being so heavy, there was some damage to the cardboard boxes but after a quick inspection, all parts were accounted for and free of damage. I installed everything on my truck by myself in about an hour. Only minor adjustments were needed to lock it down. Everything fit perfectly and the instructions were clear and easy to follow. I'll try it out for the first time this weekend when I pick up my new 42' 5th wheel camper. The quality of the B&W Companion 25K is outstanding! Built rock solid. I highly recommend this hitch! The head and base arrived in separate boxes. One person can handle each box. The hitch is very well built. The hitch jaws are very easy to operate. The only thing I would like to see changed on the hitch is the location of the two hitch locking points (latched closed and latch open). I’m 5’10” tall and I am not tall enough to reach the locking points on the lever standing on the ground. I have to step up onto the rear tire of our 2021 GMC 3500 in order to drop the pin into the holes to lock the jaws lever closed and open. 952859

I did open up one of the holes on a corner latch to accommodate a padlock in place of a locking pin. Otherwise very little adjustment was necessary on my 2019 Ram 2500. After a year of using this hitch, 5000 miles, I have to say I'm very pleased. The hitch has performed flawlessly. We've experienced no chucking while towing on various road surfaces. When I would call distasteful is slapping a label on the product and saying it shipped for three days. When the labeling on December 30th. And the hitch was not shipped or in the carriers position until January 3, 2022. And the carrier that was responsible for shipping it did not put a tracking number or activity on their website for at least three days. And when they did text Showed that it went to Chicago the opposite direction. And when it got to Sioux Falls they said their third party Carrier had to take this item. And I talk to the carrier that each trailer hired and they said we have to wait until we get enough stuff in the trailer before we can go that direction anymore. I asked them when that would be and they said they don't have a date until they start getting the trailer full, because we don't have much stuff it goes that direction in your small city ! So I made arrangements to meet them 60 miles from where we're at pick it up and bring it back where was supposed to be shipped in the first place. I love this thing. Simple and safe. No need for color changes. As the king pin goes in, the handle closes and you know it is locked. The other good thing is it is two pieces, each around 75 lbs, so no more pulling your back out or waiting on a friend to help. Pull the pins, rock back and forth/pull up and it separates. Good quality. I pull a 20,000 lb fifth wheel and it works flawlessly. The articulation on it is good and I really don’t feel much chucking. Overall a great choice! 1290692

Now it's 4/13 and the shipping company calls to make an appointment for delivery because now it's scheduled for delivery today. They ask if I have anyway to get it off the truck. I put my hitch placement on the medium setting as that was the most level with the trailer. Unfortunately, when I slid the slider back, the fifth wheel kingpin assembly scratched up the top of my tailgate on my brand new 2020 GMC Denali 3500 as I backed into the campsite. I would suggest telling customers to put it on a higher setting if they are using the slider with some newer model trucks. i have not used the hitch to tow yet so no information for towing. it was easy for me to install by myself because it breaks down to 2 pieces and has handles and handholes to carry. it dropped right into my trucks puck set up without much hassle, unlike my previous unit for ram puck system. i bought this hitch to take advantage of the small puck layout on newer gm truck. lighter weight and more space in bed. i have the regular bed truck but bought a non slider hitch because puck system is located farther back on 2020/21 gm HD trucks and don't feel a slider is needed and was afraid it would be too close to tailgate in rear position. the hitch looks like great quality to me. i have ordered several items from etrailer before and have been very satisfied with their delivery and updates 1098986

The product was perfect and as described by B&W. The issue was shipping. I feel like I had to call and call and track down. I order 18th jan, said I'd receive by the 2nd feb order was shipped the 1st, after many phone calls and running around I was able to pick up my package from a 3rd party shipper at their yard. Ups has no clue where your shipment is the pro number they give you will not tell you where your package is. I finally got my hitch on the 12th feb. Had 2 days to install before I had to make a trip to use it. Will never purchase from this company again 1263903

I installed my B&W Companion into the 5th wheel truck bed package, knowing after viewing several YouTube videos, that it should work just fine, without a slider type. My 2017 Ford F350 Super Duty 6.7L Diesel crew cab short box (6'-9") with our 2018 #3120RL Montana 5th wheel trailer work great with the B&W Companion. I estimate our max turn backing angle at 85°(don't know why I'd ever cut that tight anyway). A 5er front nose will need a radius and be tapered to make this work so great in my opinion. The Companion mounts easily into the puck system and splits into upper and lower halves for easy lifting. See my attached pictures. 483456

So far it has been great! Being 65yrs old I was apprehensive about trying to assemble and load the hitch with just my wife to help. I remedied that by loading everything into the bed of my truck, including my tools and assembled it in place. Not being up to speed on RAMs puck system I did not know what to expect. I assembled the hitch, torqued it to spec and it dropped into place with out further adjustments or fanfare. I pull a 34' 5th wheel and don't even know it is back there. Hitching and unhitching is a breeze with very little learning curve. That says a lot since my learning curve more resembles a U-turn. Installation was super easy. I had the delivery truck drop the packages directly into the bed of my 2019 F250 to avoid picking them up from the ground. One improvement opportunity, the release levers for the bed pins is too small for 1.5" #9 hardened shank padlocks and needs to be drilled out slightly larger. B&W should do this at the factory. Lubricating the pins allows for easier installation also. Otherwise, I'm happy with my purchase. B&W is the only hitches I trust. 1032455

Speaking of heavy, that's why I bought it, I am not into light weight hitches to do heavy duty work. I have a Ram 3500 DRW so weight was not a consideration. Installation was very easy, coming from a Patriot it was basically the same assembly. The pucks fit the first try, only had to tighten one leg, it's rock solid in the bed of the truck now. I've had this for a year now, and use it in a '17 F250 short bed. #1 it is heavy, #2 get the lifting ring that locks in the jaws for easier removal. This one fits in my Turnover ball hitch. I've not had to use the slide for maneuvering around turns. With the arms set towards the rear, I can go almost 90 degrees with my Puma. I have used the slide to make hooking up easier. For instance, with the slide to the rear, I can hook up without worrying about the tail gate being down. I can also open the front compartment on the camper all the way. Although I think I would have been OK with the non slide, I'm glad I went ahead and purchased this one. Only 4 stars because sometimes the slide handle doesn't automatically lock down when changing positions. 1159540

I took it out of the box, walked it over to my truck, and set into the openings in my truck bed and turned the handles and put pins in and I didn't even have to adjust it it was perfectly tight. Put the two pieces on to hold the top piece and added a little Grease and it was ready to go. I have a 2017 Ram 3500 4 X4 long bed with airbags and mounted it forward and up all the way. Received the unit and upon first glance it seemed like a good product. Upon installation of the base I noticed one of the latches was not turning smoothly and the cam tower was binding on the black rubber handle. Turns out the cam tower was welded sloppily with a pretty pronounced tilt to it. I am able to close the latch but with the awkward tilt of the cam tower I consider this a defective unit. I'm pretty disappointed with the quality control of this B&W Companion hitch and will need to now send the base in for a replacement. I did a lot of research on these 5er hitches and settled on this one as it was one of the best and Made in the USA. Of course this adds a lot of extra work and effort for me disassembling everything and boxing it back up. I'll reach out to etrailer for a resolution. Just assembled and installed the hitch in my Ram 3500. Used my tractor with a pallet to lift this heavy duty hitch level with the truck bed. Used 4 of those plastic furniture moving pads to slide the hitch into position over the pucks. Wouldn't quite drop into the pucks. So loosened all of the adjustment bolts on the four feet. Dropped right into place. Pushed the hitch forward toward the cab and then tightened the adjustment bolts. Each of the cam levers castle nuts needed adjusting to get the correct snug fit when moving the levers into locking position. Went around and double checked each of the levers for correct tightness in the locking position. Top of the hitch dropped right in. Perfect. Ready for thee 5th wheel. Very happy. This is one well built, heavy duty hitch. 1257403

I purchased this hitch to connect to the Chevy factory prepped 5th Wheel kit for a new 2017 Chev Silverado 3500 dually. My previous truck/ hitch combo (2015 Chev Silverado 3500 single axle 6.5’ bed w/ Reese Pro Series) used industry standard rails and there was quite a bit of movement in the entire hitch assembly and king pin area resulting in significant chucking on the horrible So. Big and heavy . Took 4 of us to install it. Think I got the side support placement right. Will have to wait till I hook up too see. One complaint and the mfg. should do something about it. The handle can be reached from the side but not the locking pin. I'm going to have to figure out a way to lock it as at my age It is now a problem. Assembled and installed the B&W 25k hitch and it looks amazing! Haven’t towed with it yet, but I’m sure it’ll be amazing as B&W always makes great hitches! One thing I wished B&W would annotate in their assembly instructions is the torque specs of the arm bolts, but that was easy to find online. On my 2018 F-350 long bed DRW I installed the arms to the max height at 18” and forward of the axle 3”. With that set up I’ll have to hook up and see if the fiver sits level and will clear the bed rails. I do like the ease of the lock jaw handle as it opens and closes with ease and the entire assembly and disassembly is pretty easy and quick, rather than my old previous Husky 26.5k sliding hitch that was outfitted for my previous 2014 F-250 SRW 6.5’ bed. 555050

After 6 months to a year finding a hitch, I decided to purchase the B&W. I reviewed several, talked to fifth wheel owners on what hitch they had, and the majority recommended the B&W. Well built, straight forward assembly and installation for the Ford puck system. I put an after market rubber mat I and cut 5 holes in it for the mounts in the truck bed. The plates have enough stand off to more than allow for the thickness of the mat. I do wish the frame had 4 lifting eyes build in, I can use a hoist to get it into place in the pickup bead. Are the bolts on the slider frame long enough to allow for adding a plate to them? I'd hate to mess up the finish on the hitch 639324

I received my B&W OEM 5th wheel hitch within a few days of ordering. The total installation took a bit longer as my Dodge 3500 Had not been factory prepped. I ordered the Factory kit from Mopar and installed it myself. The install of the Mopar package consisted of removing the four bolts on either side holding the bed in place. Next you raise one side, install the attachment points, lower the bed, raise the other side and install the attachment points on the other. I completed this phase in about six hours. I am not in the best of shape, but the installation was painless! I next installed the B&W hitch. I did the complete hitch installation (including an in bed trailer plug in) in about two hours. As I stated prior, I an not in the best of shape. Had I been inclined, I could have cut the installation time down by quite a bit. The directions were straight forward and easy to follow! I was quoted right at $500.00 installation labor for the hitch, not counting the contact points mentioned above. Had that been included in the quote, it would have been closer to a thousand! In conclusion, I am very pleased with the hitch, electrical parts, price and customer service by Etrailer.com! Awesome hitch! The sliding features works well with my short bed 2017 F 350. I only slide it back when I make really sharp turns. The powder coat, coupled with a rubber pad preserves the hitch from rusting. It is heavy and requires a buddy to help drop it in place, but still very easy to assemble. After buying a 2015 Dodge Ram 2500 with the new puck system I researched several fifth wheel hitches and decided on the BWRVK3600 based on the fact it was an OEM part that would fit in the puck system without adding an additional rail system, and it being American made was absolutely a very nice bonus. I have a 2018 GMC 3500 6 1/2 foot bed with the factory fifth wheel prep package. This hitch has been excellent and foolproof. I have had no real problems at all with the B&W Companion Ram puck slider hitch. I would warn others that with the 6'4" bed, even having sufficient over-bed-rail clearance, it is still possible, with the hitch in the slide-back position, to have pinbox contact with the inside of the tailgate in certain situations where the trailer is lower than the tuck. I scuffed up the plastic tailgate cap, but did no physical tailgate damage. My only regret with this hitch is in purchasing it from eTrailer. They did NOT stand behind their "low price guarantee" when I found it for less at a local vendor. Instead, they told me that they were unable to "set up an account" with the vendor to verify the lower price. This is a brick-and-mortar trailer store that can easily be called to verify their advertised prices. I will not purchase from etrailer again. 1190155

I have a 2019 Ram 2500 with RamBox and had the dealer install the puck system in it. I paired this hitch with a Reese Airborne Sidewinder and it works great. I had to loosen the pilot assemblies and adjust them slightly to get it to slide into the puck system, but other than that the install was a breeze. It's very heavy, but one person can move it if you really need to. It's much easier with two people though. Very happy with this hitch so far. Shipping was very fast. Received my B*W Companion 3600 hitch today through UPS, it arrived in three boxes, one box had the base unit for my 2018 Ram 3500 puck system, one box had the two side pivot arms and the bolt kit package for the coupler head unit and the third box contained the coupler head unit. All the boxes arrived in good condition, many of the reviews that I read said the boxes were destroyed upon arrival and I was relieved that the hitch and boxes arrived in perfect condition. After watching a Youtube video from Big Truck Big RV "JD" (on the companion hitch) who is a partner of etrailer I decided to purchase from etrailer vs other suppliers due to the reviews and video that etrailer is the best to buy from and they are available to answer and assist if needed. It took me about 30 to 40 minutes to unbox, assemble and install the hitch, very easy to do. I mounted the side pivot arms directly center over the rear axle and at its lowest setting 17". This companion hitch is replacing a Demco slider hitch that I Purchased in Feb of 2019 (totally dissapointed in the Demco from day one hence already replaced). I have not towed with the companion hitch yet as it arrived today, I will update my review once I have some time on the hitch pulling my 38' triple axle 18,000lb 5er, I have a upcoming trip and looking forward to testing the companion hitch. So far I am impressed with the quality and it looks great too, the paint on the hitch appears to be very good quality and there are no bare spots, all the welds look of high quality. After a lot of research I still had many questions about which hitch to install in my new 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 single rear wheel with a standard (6 3/4') bed and the factory puck system. Did I need a slider as everyone suggested or would I be fine with a fixed hitch and save some weight and money in the process. I called B&W Hitches to find the exact location of the king pin receiver compared to the gooseneck opening in the truck bed so I could take an exact measurement. They were eager to assist but I couldn't get an exact number. I then called etrailer and they were extremely patient and even put on hold a couple times to try to get solid answers to my questions. Both places said the fixed hitch may work but recommended the slider. I decided to go with the fixed base hitch and in my situation I'm very happy that I did. The hitch arrived in two days in two boxes and was in great shape. I spent about 1 1/2 hours installing it and all went well. Each piece was easily handled by myself. Now for the number I could not find anywhere. With the 3710 hitch mounted in the rear most position the measurement from the center of the kingpin to the back window in my truck is 45 in. My camper is exactly 96" wide (radius 48" from kingpin center to trailer side) and the front is heavily radiused which will not allow for an absolute 90° jackknife but it comes pretty close. if your trailer nose isn't radiused or the kingpin sets back further you will not have the turning radius that I do. this fixed base hitch will not work for everybody but in my situation it did. I haven't road tested it yet but I expect that to go very well. Both B&W hitches and etrailer were extremely helpful and very professional. Hope my pictures help. 756882

This hitch is very well designed and sturdy. I have owned 5 or 6 fifth wheel hitches over the last 30 years and this one is the best one. The most significant aspects are the relatively quiet ride and easy hitching and unhitching. The hitch release lever works very easily but my one complaint would be that it is a long reach to fully open the hitch release lever. I installed a step on the side of the box to solve that problem. 1197354

Just installed hitch in 2018 GMC Denali HD dually, and it was a breeze. Fits in factory bed puck system perfectly, and all things considered (I spent $300-400 having hitch installed in 2500HD, my last truck), it was quite easy to assemble. Seems extremely stable & stout, and parts are machined to tight specs, and fit seamlessly. I must admit, I have not even connected our 5th wheel yet. Receive my hitch in 2 days “WOW” I ordered the 3715 model and installed it in my 2020 GMC 2500 in 6-1/2 foot box in about 1-1/2 hours. Installation was a breeze. I decided to go with this fixed model instead of the recommended slider. After installation was completed It was time to confirm my measurements and going with the fixed model. Hooked up to my truck and was able to get a full 90 degrees and still had approximately 4-5 inches cab clearance ( and could have flipped the arms to get another couple inches) . Ordered on Sunday, got it on Thursday. Box was in good shape and instructions were easy. It says 1 hr to install, but to ensure it is correct, need to double and triple check the dogs that connect to the truck to ensure that it is all seated correctly. The instructions tell you what you need, but forget that you also need some lithium grease and wrenches to go with the sockets that are listed in the instructions. Got the 25K because it can't hurt to have more capacity than needed. Plan on towing a toy hauler with a GVW of 19K. It is only $200 +/- more for the extra capacity from a 20K, but beefier than needed is better, just in case we need to haul up to the capacity of the truck. 634983

It was about an hour from opening the box to completed assembly and install in my 2017 F350 Dually. First was a Pullrite ( and it only took 1 hitch and release to know it was less than stellar) Ordered and Installed the B&W Companion 5th Wheel Hitch on a 2011 Chevy Silverado 3500. Instructions and install were straight forward. Sold the Silverado and the 5th wheel hitch 2 weeks ago in preporation for the new 2022 F450 coming in 3 weeks. Just like the last B&W 5th wheel hitch sent, the second one also came today 10/5/2021. The new hitch & components arrived in good condition. This 25K hitch is designed for the Ford Puck System. Easy in and out. If you never used a B&W 5th wheel hitch, try to watch someone go through the process, you will be amazed how simple this is to use. Instructions for assembly are well preparred. I will add a picture once my truck is here. I believe most people with some tools and moderate mechanical experience can install. I’m a retired mechanic with 40 years mechanical skills and this was beyond simple in my opinion. Also, the etrailer team was easy to deal with, answered all of my tecnical questions. This hitch is a Beast! UPS did it no favors on delivery and I fully expected damage when I saw that box but not even a scratch in the paint. It went together without any problems and fits my Ram 3500 8 foot box perfectly. I did have to adjust the legs but it was not to hard. If I didn’t have an impact wrench to loosen the bolts It may have been a bit harder but no complaints. Looks great and can’t wait to get a 5th wheel on it. Awesome product and very easy to assemble. Unit fit right into my F350 puck system with only minor adjustments to the clamp nuts. Very well made and outstanding ride with 44ft fifth wheel. The floating head on the unit allows for all the shock to go thru the unit and not into the truck. Only thing I would add is in the directions of assembly, add the little spring that clamps on the frame of the unit to keep the fifth wheel plate in the up position, took forever thru google to see a picture of it on a unit to know where it went. Order arrived earlier than anticipated so obviously etrailer wasted no time shipping order. Thank you etrailer promptness is always appreciated. Both boxes were in pretty bad shape after transport so I was concerned about the product but after opening them and inspecting the hitch I found zero damage and all pieces were present. Assembly is pretty straight forward and can be accomplished with normal hand tools. Being a little OCD I was looking for a marking to indicate if the base of the hitch should face a certain direction but found no such marking so I moved on. Didn't look at the time but my guess is it took about 30 minutes to assemble the hitch. It will be a couple of months before I use the hitch so I cannot comment on performance at this time, hence the 4-star rating. Hitch is well made, constructed in a nice finish so I am hoping the performance will be just as great as the construction. May update review once I've had the chance to actually use it for the intended purpose. 1209572

This is my first 5th Wheel Hitch. Overall, I'm happy with it. It was easy to install and fits nicely under my truck bed cover. My only complaint is that it when sliding it forward and back into and out of maneuver mode, it is a litte stiff and I have to be real deliberate about stopping every few inches of travel so it doesn't bang against the backstops and cause the trailer to lurch. I threw it in my 2021 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD Short Box bed in about 20 minutes and towed my Mom and Father in-laws 36’ 5th wheel around 45 miles down the road to where they will be camping for the week. Shipping this 110 lb. metal hitch via UPS in a cardboard box... you can only imagine what the box will look like when it arrives at it's destination. I installed the hitch myself, watched the videos from etrailer, followed the instructions, and have had NO problems at all,we have been on 7 state wide trips, (North Carolina) and hitch has preformed with out flaws. I will use etrailer for other towing needs that comes up. 1052354

This B&W hitch is much easier to connect and disconnect than the Reese hitch that came with my Super Duty Ford F450. I used the Reese for one season and was not happy with it. It was clunky and harder to connect and disconnect. Had used B&W's in the past and went back. They are a better made and easier to use hitch. 1174460

I've had lots of compliments on this hitch. It's built really well and looks great. The best part is that it locks in easily and positively and is really quiet when towing. Lots of articulation so it works smoothly when navigating over uneven surfaces. This hitch is heavy. But, the two-piece design makes it much more manageable. Would definitely buy again. 852408

Easy Peasy. For a guy who's never had a 5th wheel hitch and was a little apprenhsive before starting this was a breeze. A total of 11 bolts and the product was put together and secure. After a few minor adjustments to the latch cams it dropped right into the Factory Puck system without a problem. Might have taken all of 20 minutes start to finish. Highly recommend this product. 1191601

I had ordered all three components together and assume they would be delivered as a complete set. I only received the hitch and riser plates with no base to mount them too. I contacted etrailer and the rep said it would be delivered in a couple of days. I found this to be surprising as you would have thought they would have been shipped all together. Also when i received the hitch it the powder coating was chipped on the top of the hitch. You would assume since you were paying for a high end hitch you would receive it in perfect condition. B&W prides then selves as a American made product but they don't take pride in their shipping as my hitch was damage during transport as the box and shipping cardboard was below my standards for shipping a 150lb hitch! 1292675

Well built and manageable when apart. Had to massage it into place snug fit on new truck. . Was missing one cotter pin on delivery. B and W is about the best you can get in my opinion. 1265380

I can't say anything to the use of this hitch yet because we just received it and we won't have our truck for another week (its on its way from the factory-woohoo!) But as from the history of quality and countless reviews with B&W I expect only great results. I wanted to go ahead and submit this review early to shoutout to Brett G and etrailer for their always-on-point customer service. This isn't my first order with etrailer but this is the first time I have ordered over the phone as I had some questions to go along with my order. Brett G was absolutely amazing and he went above and beyond in trying to help answer my question, which was "which teflon plate shall I use with the B&W hitch" (the 10' is fine). Brett was honest and said he's not sure and has little experience when it came to the teflon plates but was willing to research it without hesitation. That says a lot about him and the customer service of etrailer. Then when it came to shipping...etrailer is on top of it! I can't say enough about etrailer, their availability
