Expert Answers about Epicord

  • Will Epicord 7-Way Molded Trailer Plug # 277-000143 Work with the 7-Way on Chevy Trucks
  • You should not have any issues using Epicord 7-Way Molded Trailer Plug # 277-000143 with the 7-Way on your Chevy truck. It is a standard 7-Way just a slightly different design for the pins like you said. This design allows for more contact between the pins on the truck's 7-Way and trailer 7-Way. We have not heard any complaints from our customers on this part either. I have included a link to a video review of this wiring harness for you.

  • The Epicord 30 Amp Twist Lock Power Inlet - White # 277-000137 is a great option for the male end that attaches to your camper. For the female connector for your cord, I recommend the Mighty Cord Replacement Twist Lock Connector for RVs - Female - 30 Amps # A10-30FDT. You may want to consider the Weatherproof Cover w/ Threaded Ring for Mighty Cord Twist Lock Female Connector - 30 Amps # A10-30CV as well.

  • Are the Epicord RV Power Cords # 277-000147 and # 277-000149 Like Extension Cords
  • The Epicord RV Power Cords, like part # 277-000147 and part # 277-000149, are 30' and 36' feet long cords respectively. Depending on what connections you have they can be used as an extension cord. One end is a 30 Amp male and the other end is a 30 Amp female twist lock connector like what connects to an inlet like part # 277-000138 which would be on your RV or trailer. I have attached some review videos for you to check out.

  • What is Needed to Tow a M105A2 Military Trailer with a 2013 Dodge Durango?
  • To convert your M105A2 military trailer to a 7-blade, I would recommend using the Epicord 7-Way with Junction Box # 277-000141. This makes the conversion simple and you don't have to worry about wiring the connector itself. You'll also need some ring terminals like # 44-5310A and some loom clamps like # A0500. The wires in the junction box are color coded as indicated below. Military wiring is typically not color-coded, so you may need to use a circuit tester like # ALL640595 and a 12V...

  • Operation of AC Unit and Other Outlet From 2000 Watt Portable Generator
  • We don't carry any 20 amp power inlets. I recommend you upgrade to the Epicord 30 Amp Twist Lock Power Inlet - White # 277-000137 or black # 277-000138. This will work well with a 2000 watt generator like the A-iPower 2,000-Watt Inverter Generator w/ Parallel Kit - Senci Motor - Portable - Gas - 120V # 289-SUA2000I. This combination will allow you to run the interior plugs but not at their max simultaneously. You would need to consider adding the second generator in parallel # 289-SUA2000I-2...

  • How to Determine the Right Replacement Power Cord to Plug a Trailer/RV into Shore Power
  • To replace the power cord that goes from the shore power receptacle at a camp site to the RV you will need to know the amperage rating for both. Most shore power receptacles are 30 amp, some are 50. Rarely you will see a 15 amp. The different amperage ratings require different connector types so even if you are not sure what the RV has you can look at the outlet. Cord # 277-000149 is a 30 amp to 30 amp so the end that plugs into an outlet has two slanted flat pins and one round ground...

  • Can 7-Way Junction Box 277-000141 Be Used to Charge Trailer Battery
  • If there happened to be a 12 volt keyed power source in the circuits of the # 277-000141 you could use it for the isolation solenoid # TR118665. Essentially you would need to have the 12 volt circuit of the vehicle already be only active when the key is on. Which if that were the case you wouldn't need the solenoid realistically. If the 12 volt circuit of your truck's 7-way is active all the time you would need to install the solenoid on that circuit and that would get the circuit active...

  • Recommended 30-Amp Receptacle To Hardwire To RV
  • I recommend the Epicord 30 Amp Twist Lock Power Inlet # 277-000137. The center to center distance for the mounting holes is 2-7/16 inches. If you need a power cord I recommend the Epicord RV Power Cord # 277-000148. This cord has the RV power cord with a handle. When hardwiring the cord to your RV the Black wire is the hot power lead, the White is neutral, and the green wire is used for the ground.

  • Recommended Switch and Isolation of Two 12V Batteries
  • We don't have anything to be a power selector quite like what you are describing. We have the isolation solenoid # TR118665 that will only allow power to flow in one direction so the second battery cannot drain the first which a simple switch can be added to. The other option is to have two batteries run completely separate and use the Epicord Battery Disconnect Switch with Key - 50 Amp # 277-000096 on each one. This will isolate the on/off power of each battery, but what is connected...

  • Adding a Battery to a Trailer with a 4-Way Connector
  • To run a charge line to your battery you will first need to install a 7-Way on your trailer. This can be done using the Epicord 7-Way Molded Trailer Plug with Junction Box # 277-000141. The Black wire in the junction box is the one that will carry the 12V power. Just simply use a ring terminal like part # 44-5310A and run 10 Gauge Wire # 10-1-1 to the positive terminal on your battery. • Wiring Diagram for Home Made Trailer
  • I've linked an article on trailer wiring that includes a diagram you might find helpful. One solution to help wire everything together is to use a junction box with your trailer's 7-way connector, like # 277-000141. This way you can run all of your trailer's wires to the box instead of to the back of the connector. To wire you brakes you'll want to use 10 gauge wiring # 10-1-1. For the lights you can use 16 gauge, # 16-1-1. Both are sold by the foot. When looking into the back...

  • Recommended Battery Disconnect for Trailer Application To Prevent Power Drain
  • You have a couple of options for a battery disconnect I recommend. You can use Superwinch Quick Connect # SW2236 or # SW1551 depending on wire gauge to give you quick connect/disconnect. If you prefer a keyed disconnection switch you can use the Epicord Battery Disconnect Switch with Key - 50 Amp # 277-000096. • The only time the key of the Epicord Battery Disconnect Switch with Key # 277-000096 can be removed is when the key is in the off position. The key has to be installed for it to be in "ON". It can withstand some weather pretty easily like most wiring that you might find under the hood of an engine, but you wouldn't want to submerge it by any means.

What you're going to want to use is Bonded 4 Wire # 16-4B-1 which is sold by the foot. This will provide the four 16 gauge wires to run from the junction box, part # 277-000141, to your trailer's lights. If you need a precise 36 inch long cable, I recommend you customize a cable to that length using Epicord RV Power Cord with Handle 25' Long Pigtail # 277-000144 and the Mighty Cord Replacement Hardwire RV Plug - Female End # A10-R30VP....
