Expert Answers about Packem

  • Recommended Tie-Down Kit for Golf Cart Transported in Pickup
  • The safest way to secure a 4-wheeled vehicle like a golf cart in a truck bed is to use wheel nets that secure to the truck bed in some manner. The Erickson E-Track Tie-Down Kit # EM09160 is one option that is similar to the Pack 'Em kit you referenced, part # PK-WTD, although I prefer the Erickson since it includes 4 wheel chocks not 2. The Erickson also wins in terms of ease of disconnecting everything, thanks to the spring-loaded E-Track clips which detach easily. You only need to...

  • Utility Trailer Shovel and Trimmer Rack Recommendations
  • The Pack'Em Shovel Rack for Open Utility Trailers # PK-BM-23 will hold up to 6 shovels and would work well for you. I attached an installed picture and review video for you to check out. Then for a trimmer rack the # PK-6 would work great too. These need to be mounted a minimum of 3 feet apart. Review video and picture attached for this as well.

  • Will the Pack Em Rack for Open Utility Trailers Hold an Echo Backpack Blower
  • The Pack Em Rack, # PK-6-OP1, will hold an Echo backpack blower, but you will need to use the Rack Em Backpack Blower Adapter, # RA-STIHL. To attach to the blower frame, the tubing must be slit lengthwise and wrapped around the frame before attaching the adapter plate with the 2 small U-bolts. The tubing will protect the frame and help hold the plate in place. Tighten the lock nuts until the plate starts to compress the tubing and it is held securely in place. Do not over tighten. Make...

  • Lockable Trimmer and Blower Rack Recommendation for a Trailer
  • Yes we do, for a combination trimmer and blower rack that is lockable you would want the part # PK-6-OP1. This product is designed to be installed on a trailer, but if you wanted to install it in a storage shed you could as well. I attached an install video for you to check out as well.

  • Using PackEm Wheel Tie-Down Kit # PK-WTD for Transporting Lawn Mower
  • The Pack'Em Wheel Tie-Down Kit # PK-WTD that you referenced includes parts to secure one wheel of a wheeled machine. It comes with two chocks, one strap and the required mounting hardware. If your mower's weight is within the rated capacity for this kit then you may just want to use some other additional cargo control to help hold down the other end of the mower. For instance we offer ratcheting tie downs such as # EM31352 from Erickson. This might be ideal to hold the mower down to...

  • Recommended Trimmer Rack for Open Utility Trailer with Round Top Rail
  • All of our Trimmer Racks are bolt mounted, so you will have to custom mount them on a round top rail. You will either have to run bolts through your tube or run U-Bolts around your top tube. For a Trimmer Rack, I recommend the Pack'Em Rack # PK-6-OP1. This holds 3 trimmers, 1 blower, 1 line spool, and one cooler. It is a very nice system with a gray powder coat finish. This does not come with mounting hardware, but does come with keyed alike locks. If you are looking for a more...

  • Recommended Roof Rack For 2002 Wells Cargo Enclosed utility Trailer
  • We have a couple options that will work for your Wells Cargo trailer. The first rack I recommend is the Rack'em Fitz-All Enclosed Trailer Ladder Rack, part # RA-28. This rack has a telescoping design and will fit trailers from 4 ft to 8-1/2 ft wide. It has a 400 lb weight capacity and is made of heavy duty aluminum. The second rack that would work for you is the Pack'Em Ladder Rack Bracket Kit for Enclosed Trailers, part # PK-28B. This is a ladder rack you can create using either...

  • Tie Down Recommendation for Arctic Cat Wildcat SxS
  • Going with a tire mounted tie down system like the part # PK-WTD would be a great option. Since this secures the SxS by the tires you wouldn't have to worry about the suspension causing the SxSs to slightly move around on the trailer. We had similar issues with dirt bikes back in the day till we went with wheel chocks. Bumps would cause the tires to move and would require us to go back and secure them again.

  • Can Pack-Em Rack for Open Utility Trailers Part # PK-6-OP1 Fit a Tubular Frame Trailer
  • My contact at Pack-Em advises that their Rack for Open Utility Trailers, part # PK-6-OP1, can mount to a trailer that has a (round) tubular frame rail. Since mounting hardware is not included with this item you have the options of drilling into your trailer frame to install the two towers with your own hardware or using u-bolts to attach them to your trailer rail, which would avoid the need to drill your trailer. The two main C-channel upright towers measure 2-inches wide x 1-inch deep. We...

  • Installation of the Pack Em Rack for Open Utility Trailers, # PK-6-OP1
  • The Pack Em Rack for Open Utility Trailers, # PK-6-OP1, installs as follows: Mounts securely to the bottom rail of your open utility trailer. Just line up the towers of the base trimmer rack, approximately 3 feet apart, to determine where on your trailer you will need to drill. Then attach the pre-drilled towers with bolts (not included). This rack system is not designed to be welded to your trailer. Be sure to face the rack toward the outside of the trailer for easy access to your...

  • Can the Back Pack Blower Be Locked to PackEm Rack for Open Utility Trailers # PK-6-OP1
  • The PackEm Rack for Open Utility Trailers, part # PK-6-OP1 uses a backpack blower holder that is designed to securely grip your blower at its grab handle. Simply hang your blower from the hook and then fold down the integrated steel arm. Once the arm is properly positioned over the hook, you can lock it in place with one of the included keyed-alike padlocks. If you have a STIHL BR420 model backpack blower you will need to purchase an additional adapter for it to be used on the PackEm...

  • What Do the Trimmer Mounts Look Like on the Pack Em Trimmer and Blower Carrier for Open Trailers
  • The trimmer holder part of the Pack em rack # PK-6-OP1 does look very similar to the other racks Pack em offers. One end has the long flat hook with the slot in the middle and the other end has the rounded hook. Take a look at the pictures I have included that show some of the various components that make up this rack. You can also look at part # PK-6S2 for the appearance of the trimmer portion.

  • What is the Recommended Distance Center to Center for the PackEm Trimmer Rack # PK-6
  • There is no recommended center to center distance for the Pack Em Trimmer Rack, # PK-6, but they must be mounted a minimum of 3ft apart. Trimmers come in different sizes and lengths, so it is best to mount the racks to fit your specific trimmers. The distance between the racks will also depend on where you plan on holding the trimmers. Typically, trimmer racks are mounted to hold the trimmer at the trimmer handle and on the neck, about a foot or two from the trimmer head. If you measure...

  • How Many Pack Em Wheel Straps Are Required for Securing ATV
  • The recommendation for the Pack'Em Wheel Tie-Down Kit # PK-WTD is to use two per ATV. I would go with the front wheels if the vehicle will be facing towards the front of the trailer. Going with 4 might be a bit overkill, but if it gives you peace of mind then I would say go for it.

  • Installing the Pack'Em Rack for Open Utility Trailers on a Trailer with 24 inch Tall Side Rails
  • I spoke to my contact at Pack' Em and he informed me that your best option would be to install the Pack'Em Rack for Open Utility Trailers # PK-6-OP1 on your trailer but to install it about 12 inches from the floor of your trailer. Installing it in this manner would not interfere with the conduit either. You would need to install each upright post of the # PK-6-OP1 on the vertical posts that attach the top railing of your trailer to the trailer frame. The only issue you might run into...

  • Can The Pack-Em Ladder Rack Bracket Kit Be Installed on a Trailer with a Flat Top and Rain Gutter
  • The Pack-Em Ladder Rack Bracket Kit can be mounted on a trailer with a flat top and a rain gutter. You will want to make sure that the bracket is mounted to the header on your trailer. This header will provide additional support for the ladder rack. The brackets should be tall enough to not interfere with your rain gutters. I have included an installation video of a very similar rack system on a trailer. In this video modifications were needed, and this might be the same for your particular...

  • What is the Difference Between the # PK-BM-23 and the # PK-23
  • The difference between the Pack'Em Shovel Rack # PK-BM-23 and the Shovel Rack for Pack'Em Racks # PK-23 is that the # PK-BM-23 comes with the # PK-23 and a Tower Kit # PK-BM. The # PK-BM is basically the foundation for the # PK-23 and can be ordered separately. If you do not already have a # PK-BM already you would want to go ahead and get the # PK-BM-23.

  • You can use 2 of Pack'Em Wheel Tie-Down Kit # PK-WTD on the front wheels or rear wheels or one on the front and one on the back of your Can Am UTV. It is possible, depending on the weight over the wheels that are not tied down, for the UTV to bounce some. It is less likely to occur if you tied down the wheels closest to the trailer axle. In our demo video which I have linked for you we tied down the rear wheels.

Other than that as long as the tire diameter is 30 inches or less you can use this tie down kit. You will also want to make sure the chock part of the kit is attached to the frame of the trailer or you will want to use a steel backing plate on the bottom of the trailer to better disperse the force...
