Front Hitch Questions and Answers

  • How to Move and Park a Trailer without Using a Vehicle
  • I do have a solution for you but there are no front mount trailer hitches available for the 2003 Honda Element. What I recommend is a Trailer Valet XL trailer dolly such as # TVXL2 which has a 2 inch ball or # TVXL25 which has a 2-5/16 inch ball. These are two-speed dollies that will allow you to accurately move and position the trailer, even by yourself, without having to use a vehicle. Depending on the length of your driveway you would probably want to use low gear. To make it easier...

  • Front Hitch Recommendation for 2016 Ram 2500 Diesel
  • For a 2016 Ram 2500 the correct Curt front hitch is the part # C31015 and not the part # C31067 that you referenced. I checked with Curt for this hitch and there are no fit exclusions for the diesel engine models. This hangs below the front air dam which allows it to not interfere with the intercooler.

  • Comparison Between Draw-Tite and Curt Front Hitch for 2013 Dodge Ram 2500 4WD
  • The Draw-Tite Front Mount Hitch you referenced, part # 65063, does indeed protrude through the bumper. Based on your email stating the use of a winch, and ground clearance concerns, my recommendation would be this hitch. I spoke with my source at Draw-Tite and found that when installed, the end of the receiver protruding through the bumper is 6-3/4 inches from the face of the mounting plate. I have included an illustration showing this information. As per the included installation instructions,...

  • Can a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee Be Flat Towed Behind a Motorhome Without Special Equipment
  • I checked on the 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee and found that as long as the vehicle has selectable 4 wheel drive with a neutral position in the transfer case is towable as is. If the vehicle is rear wheel drive only, and has the 42RLE transmission a transmission lube pump is required. If the vehicle has an auto transmission other than the 42RLE the vehicle is not towable and will need to be trailered. If the vehicle is AWD without a nuetral position in the transfer case it is trailer...

  • Front Hitch and Motorcycle Carrier Recommendation for a 2015 Ford F-350
  • The highest capacity front hitch we offer for your 2015 Ford F-350 is the part # 65049 that has a vertical pull rating of 500 lbs. The best solution I could provide for you would be the motorcycle carrier part # UF48-979033 that has a 600 lb capacity and has a shipping weight of 65 lbs. When out of the packaging it should be right at 60 lbs, but for safety's sake you could load the ramp of the carrier in the bed of your truck to save weight from the front hitch. This would be your setup...

  • What Vertical Load Means When Referring to a Front Mount Trailer Hitch
  • The vertical load, or pull, is essentially the tongue weight of the front mount hitch. This is the amount of weight the hitch can carry, and the line pull capacity is the straight line pull rating for using a winch.

  • Removing OEM Skid Plate to Install Curt Front Mount Receiver # C31048 on 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee
  • I spoke with my contact in Technical Support at Curt Manufacturing, who tells me that their front mounted receiver would bolt to the underside of the front frame members and around the front stabilizer bar using with two of the connection points utilizing the existing holes for the stabilizer bar retaining bracket, as shown in the provided photo. If the skid plate covers the mounting location and the retaining brackets, the skid plate would need to be removed in order to install the...

  • Wiring for Electric Winch at the Front and Rear of a 2015 Chevy Silverado 3500 Duramax
  • First, you are going to need a couple sets of quick disconnects such as # SW2236. You will need enough 2 to 4 gauge wire to reach from the front of the truck to the batteries and from the rear of the truck to the batteries. Another option is to get a couple of winch wiring kits, # SW2008. The winch power and ground wires will attach to one disconnect and the wiring to the batteries will attach to the mating quick disconnect. Diesel trucks normally have 2 batteries so the isolator...

  • Parts Needed to Flat Tow a 2012 Jeep Liberty Behind a Motor Home
  • Flat towing a vehicle requires specific equipment to tow the vehicle safely and in accordance with local, state, and federal laws. A front mount hitch is not suitable for use to flat tow a vehicle behind an RV but I can tell you all of the parts that you will need. There are at least 5 items you will need to flat tow your 2012 Jeep Liberty: base plates, tow bar, safety cables, lighting, and supplemental braking. But the first thing to check is the vehicle owners manual to make sure your...

  • Comparing Draw-Tite and Curt Front Mount Locations for a 2018 Ford F-150 XLT
  • I went out to the warehouse and found that the Draw-Tite # 65067 and the Curt # C31083 will actually sit in pretty much the same place. The Curt will sit maybe 1/8" higher than the Draw-Tite. Installation instructions for both front mount hitches are linked for you to reference.

  • Grille Guard and Front Hitch that Fits 2016 Ford F-150
  • We have found that with the Westin HDX Grille Guard part # 57-3835 you can fit the Draw Tite front hitch part # 65067. I attached a picture that shows the two fitting together just fine. Normally front hitches and grille guards can't fit together at the same time but this vehicle/setup happens to be an exception.

  • Front Hitch Comparison for a 2016 Ford F-250 4x4
  • We have two options for front hitches for your 2016 Ford F-250 4x4, but I think the best is the Draw Tite part # 65049 as it has the best price by a large margin and has a much better price than the Curt competitor part # C31018. The only advantage the Curt has is that you can flip the cross tube around so that you can have the hitch opening up higher or down lower. The Draw Tite keeps the hitch opening low. I attached a picture of what the hitch will look like once installed on a similar...

  • Front Hitch and Snow Plow for 2016 Ram 1500 4x4 Crew Cab
  • We do offer front-mount hitches for your 2016 Ram 1500 4x4, two that are shown on the linked page, but neither one is a no-drill installation. Both require drilling and some fascia trimming (to make room for the receiver tube) and removal of the tow hooks for installation. With one of these in place you can use a 2-inch snowplow like # K2AVAL8422. All plow options for your 4X4 truck are shown on the linked page. These slip right into the hitch with no other vehicle modifications required. On...

  • Can a Front Mount Trailer Hitch be Used to Flat Tow a 1991 Jeep Cherokee
  • A front mount trailer hitch like # 31084 can be used for a winch or for pushing around a trailer to get it in the right position but you can not use it to tow your 1991 Jeep Cherokee. You would not be able to turn properly with a single attachment point at the center of a 4 wheeled vehicle. To flat tow a vehicle you will need a special attachment called base plates, a tow bar, safety cables, lighting, and supplemental braking. Base plates and a front mount hitch cannot both be installed...

  • Front Hitch Availability for a 2013 Ford F150 4WD Ecoboost
  • There is a front mounted hitch that is confirmed to fit your 2013 Ford F150 4WD with Ecoboost, part # 65061. However, this hitch does not have the capacity for your trailer as it only has a tongue weight rating of 500 lbs so I cannot recommend it for your application. The best recommendation I can give you would be to use the rear hitch of your truck to maneuver your trailer as long as it has the capacity. It might be difficult to maneuver the trailer while in reverse, but with a little...

  • 2015 Tahoe Front Receiver Hitch Install Picture and Air Dam Trimming
  • You are going to have to trim out a section of your front air dam to install the Curt Hitch part # C31073 that is 3 inches wide by 1.50 inches tall. A similar amount of trimming is required for the Draw Tite hitch part # 65064 as well. The other option is to just remove the air dam. I attached a picture that shows a similar Tahoe with the air dam removed and the hitch installed.

  • Availability of Front Mounted Hitch Receiver for 2015 GMC Sierra 2500
  • You bet we do! The Draw-Tite # 65078 and the Curt # C31023 front mount receivers are a fit for your 2015 Sierra 2500. The Draw-Tite model isn't a fit for Denali models, and might require you trim the fascia in order for the receiver tube to pass through. If you live in a state where a front plate is required, you'll need a # 5443 front plate relocation bracket. The Curt model will install with the receiver tube exiting lower on the front fascia, below the license plate, so less cutting...
