Works well for transporting two 29" wheeled mountain bikes. However, after one year it's starting to rust in several areas (see attached photos), and the front wheel arms are becoming increasingly difficult to raise and lower. Finally the locking cable is extremely rusty as you can see in the attached photo. I'm not sure how durable this rack will be long term.

Like the fact that it can lock the bikes in and lock the rack to your vehicle. Plus the slant down feature makes it easy to load e bikes. Would definitely recommend trailer to anyone looking for an awesome bike rack!
Blaine - 02/03/2023We have had this bike rack for one year and use it every week-end. My wife has a Trek e-bike (52 lbs) and I have a regular Trek hybrid (23 lbs). The rack is very sturdy and I have no issues driving at highway speeds, there is no movement of the bikes. Very easy to load and unload.
Love my Yakima rack. Now I can take two bikes and all my fishing and camping gear on all my adventures. Thank you etrailer for tye great service.
It's quite expensive bike rack which made in China with problematic quality control.
I have to disassemble one of the bike bases in order to remove the metal shavings inside of the end of the arm which were interfering with cable lock preventing it get fully retracted into the tube.
Inside tube, there are no coating and metal started to rust already. If you leave it mounted on vehicle and this thing gets into the rain, this will greatly accelerate the rusting process. And rusting is not covered by warranty as stated in different post. So you warned...
When I told etrailer about the quality problems... Customer support answer was hilarious. Quote from Odelia K. : "I am sorry but I do not know where you may be able to order this for shipping to the UK."
Btw, they just shipped my order to GA, USA... where did I mention UK?
I have unpleasant experience with etrailer.com. I would not recommend it.
Sierra K - 12/16/2021A well made bike carrier. It holds 2 bikes securely. The locking hitch bolt and locking bike cables also give it security. It is a little heavy to to move around, but I assume most are.
Richard - 02/28/2023I was excited to finally get the bike rack after a long back order...but it was well worth the wait ! It took my husband and I about 35 minutes to assemble it. It was very easy. I had been having to lift my bike in and out of my truck bed and it was taxing on my back. I have used it everyday since installing it and love it. Thank you to the Customer Service department for being so nice when I called several times for updates on my order.
I purchased the hitch and bike rack from you guys for my wife's 2021 Nisssan Rogue. The instructions were easy to follow. Also, seeing the videos online helped a whole bunch. The end result was amazing... Will continue doing business with etrailer
We got a great price from this Vendor. The item was on back order for a few months. The vendor kept us informed of the order status and even offered other items throughout the process. The original bacame available in October and was immediately shipped to our door. Tracking was available and delivery was made. I would recommend e trailer for any kind of vehicle,bike carrier need.
Brad F - 10/15/2022I just assembled this rack and loaded my bikes. I immediately saw a number of flaws in the design I didn't see in any of my investigating or review videos, including etrailers on this rack. Thinking I did something wrong, I went back and checked out another [online video] review I hadn't before and wish I had. This video shows all the flaws I noticed after my installation perfectly. This review is dead on. I have purchased it, unfortunately, so I'm stuck with it. Knowing the flaws, I hope I can make it work satisfactorily. Do your self a favor and view [all review] videos before you decide to buy.
Steve - 11/03/2022Really glad I found your web site before I decided on my E bike rack. The Yakima holdup rack I purchased is a quality item and has really nice features for a good price.
I like the fact that it clamps down on the tire to hold it tight. I also like the way the rack moves down to load and unload the bikes. It takes a lot of load off my back. The locks ore outstanding as well. This rack has everything I needed. Thank you Ashley for your help when I ordered it.

Ken - 04/30/2022 Ken - 05/03/2022This is a great rack and extremely well made. The consumer assembly is only the two cross arms with two bolts each. I debated between this and a similar Thule. The cable with integrated lock and the lockable hitch pin sold me on this one. I have two K2 29'ers and they fit well in the tire saddles. The pivot arm locks down tight on the front wheel as does the strap on the rear wheel making the bikes are very stable for traveling. The large threaded hitch pin dampen all the slop in the hitch receiver. The only con I have is the 20 degree fold down does not allow my 2009 Town & Country rear hatch to fully open. This may not be a problem with other vehicles. For all the pros on this rack I can live with the con.
This rack is your best bet if you’re looking for an economical and quality platform rack. The comparable Thule and Kuat models do not have an integrated lock system like the Yakima. It was very simple to assemble and even easier to hitch up and load my bike. Works great with a Tacoma. I used to have a hanger-style rack and this platform is far superior.

Dennis - 04/23/2022It only took a couple of days for the rack t arrive after I ordered it. I was impressed how sturdy the rack is. My wife rides a Trek Townie E-bike which is heavy (48 lbs) that I needed a sturdy rack to carry it in addition to mine. My hanging rack in no way would handle the weight (Total with all the gear, 70 lbs). My new rack handled it easily.
This rack has some nice features that I looked for in a good rack. It was easy to put together and install on my car. It is fairly heavy but fits perfectly in my 2" hitch. With all the bikes loaded, there isn't any sway or movement with the rack as I drive. The rack sits nice and tight in the receptor. It has security locks that make hauling bikes a safe and secure experience.
The cost was a little higher than I wanted to spend but I was glad I did. I know I bought a great product that will last for many years of riding. I highly recommend this rack to anyone looking for a quality rack for their bikes.
The bike rack exceeded my expectations! Well-designed and sturdy , yet not so heavy that I couldn't install it on my vehicle myself. Also E-trailer delivered the product as quickly as promised.
The rack is good, but...if you have a 29 inch front tire, you will need to secure the tire to the seat. I use velcro on the front and rear of the tire seat. It will (and did) pop out. The tire is too large for it to properly fit. I wish all the "joints" we're a bit more snug to stop the sway! Overall it is good...heavy, but good. I'd buy it again!
Erv - 04/29/2022Just finished installing my new rack. I am VERY happy with the rack from installation to loading and unloading the bikes. Also I was very impressed with etrailer. I was looking for a specific rack and and only knew of one company that offered a rack that could be expanded to hold 2 more bikes. I was about to make my purchase of the very expensive other brand when etrailer suggested I look at the Yakima. I was very impressed with their videos and could see how the rack fit on my car so I purchased the rack and everything was exactly like they explained. I look forward to using this rack for a very long time.
Just received my Yakama 2 bike rack for my 2012 VW Tiguan. It is very well built and simple to install. I especially like how it folds up close to the car when not in use. The rack is not heavy like the Rola that I had before this one. This was my second purchase from e-trailer and will definitely buy from them again. The staff is so friendly and eager to help. The web site is incredible, with install videos on the products.
I looked at a lot of various carriers at on-line sites before deciding on this one. It seemed to have all of the features that I wanted.
I have been extremely satisfied with this product since I received it. It is easy to use and holds our bikes “very” securely. I like the built in cable straps that lock the bike to the carrier and these are keyed alike to the hitch pin lock. The carrier will pivot down for access to our truck bed and pivots up to provide less overhang when not loaded with bikes. Folding the carrier up before removing it from the hitch also makes removal and carrying easier. I am well pleased with the quality of the unit and the powder cost paint seems to be very durable.

The bike rack has held up well for the first year of use. Well designed. We use it for two Specialized E-Bikes. The rack is heavy to install and uninstall on the truck but that comes with a sturdy design.
Rick - 03/05/2022Love this product so far! I’m using this with the Yakima Backswing for my 2018 Jeep Wrangler JLU. Makes loading and unloading a breeze and uninhibited access to the rear hatch. Installation was a breeze. Sturdy set up that also looks good!
We're totally satisfied with this rack. It works perfectly for transporting our ebikes between MI and FL each year. The built-in locking mechanism is a nice feature.

Fairly easy assembly. OK video on Kuat’s site, but didn’t cover the foot pedal. Really glad we got the 2” hitch. It tightened up and we’re impressed with the quality and the stability of the rack. We haven’t done a road test yet, but look forward to putting it to the test. We have a Ford F-150 and it works great. The bikes were fairly easy to load with the batteries out and two people. We do need the strap extenders for our RadMini Step Thru’s. The tires are too big for the ones that come with. Only one set of extenders came with the bike and one adapter for a smaller tire. It’s okay, but since it’s a two bike unit, would have been nice to have both extenders. Otherwise, we are really liking the look and stability.
Cheryl - 08/29/2022This thing is built like a tank! It is of the best fit and funtion I have seen in a bike rack! Solid as can be, fits my bikes perfectly and looks awesome! Plus it folds completely out of the way to access the rear liftgate on my 2022 Rav4!
We are just assembling the bike rack. So far easy instructions. We cannot wait till it is nice enough to go biking again. I look forward to using the bike rack so I do not need to load it onto our pickup. I will be a lot more independent with this.
Katherine - 02/12/2023This is a great product that has always worked very well. I have carried a 55 lb mountain bike and my road bike from a few miles to nearly 2,000 miles from Washington state to Wisconsin and the Kuat NV 2.0 has performed flawlessly. I highly recommend this bike rack.

This is the best and well thought out design
Rack arrived today. I will not lie, it is heavy and therefore cumbersome to assemble. Despite that, I was able to assemble and install it in just under one hour. I did this on my own, another person would have cut this time in half. The rack checks all the boxes of wants and needs. That same weight noted before makes it rock solid. The anti-rattle feature to tighten the hitch is wonderful. Handle/pedal to change from upright position to bike holding rack to tilt away from my Subaru 2010 Forester was incredibly simple and smooth. I was all set to buy the Thule T2 Pro XT 2 and a friend told me about this Kuat NV 2.0. I am so happy. I knew it was more expensive, but free shipping and price was discounted at checkout when I purchased it from etrailer.com. Great surprise. This rack is well thought out, has superb quality features, and I am convinced that I made the best choice. All things aside, it also really looks nice.
Marc - 04/19/2019The heavy weighted bike rack is what comes with the quality of this rack I have used a simple 4 wheel dolly from [oversupply store] to easily move and store away when not in use.
Sturdy, great looking, ease of operation, GREAT price all added up to a must have. Rack is great for carbon bikes.
This rack is the best bike rack I’ve owned. It’s build well and designed well. etrailer was a pleasure to deal with. The shipping was fast, communication was great and they had the best online price.
Overall the bike rack does what it says it does but better, it is much lighter than other bike racks with same features, looks great, and well made. Being able to add extra bikes to the rack, or using the repair stand it comes with is also something you don't see with other racks. You will not be disappointed with this rack.
David - 10/28/2022Assembly was not as difficult as I expected. After watching some videos, the instructions do make sense. I also used the box with some of the foam packing to support the frame because, as suggested, it easier to put together"upside down". Once it's together it seems very solid and well made. Installing on my 2017 Hyundai Tucson Eco was simple and easy to do. Putting the bike on the rack was even easier and will make impromptu bike rides no problem when I'm by myself. In the pictures the bike was on the outside rack because I was demonstrating it to my friend who thankfully assisted me with the hitch installation.
Laura E - 05/31/2017I am very pleased with the Kuat NV 2.0 bike rack. It was tough to swallow the price tag. However, looking back after purchasing more expensive bikes, and traveling several thousand miles with no issues, I can attest to the quality and durability of this product. For you Jeepers out there, you may need to extend your receiver hitch for proper clearance, depending upon the size of your tires and bikes. Just a tip.
About the Kuat NV 2.0: Buy a Kuat NV 2.0!!! Then, get the 2 Bike Add-On to carry 4 bikes. This is hands-down THE BEST rack on the market. I chose this rack after researching THULE, Saris, Yakima, and many, many others. The Kuat NV 2.0 has a professional car quality finish, is ROCK SOLID so the bikes do not move at all, has built in locks, a built in mechanic stand, and never touches your bikes. Do your research and you will arrive at the same conclusion: THERE IS NO BETTER RACK ON THE MARKET!!!

LOVE it! We were looking for the longest tongue that we could find so that when stored upright, it wouldn't hit the bumper.
With the advice of the etrailer phone rep...we got 4 place model which is what we ended up with..(we got the add-on)
Avid mountain bikers that love this setup. The model is very solid with 4 bikes! Also like how you can adjust the front wheel cradle so that the bars won't rub on other bars/seats. Heavy when you lower the rack "loaded" to open hatchback, but that's what you'll deal with when going with a setup that doesn't touch the frame which is what we want and need. Much nicer than the Thule/Yakima options that other friends have. A lot better looking too!! It does slightly block the tail lights so added some reflectors for those "distracted drivers" ;-)
Highly recommend and feel price is worth it.
Very sturdy hitch. I installed it solo on my 2014 Mazda 3 sedan in 1-½ hours. The written instructions were accurate and complete. The crossbar is completely hidden making for an attractive installation. Ground clearance (bottom of receiver to ground) is a bit skinny at 9-½ inches; but that's because of the car's low clearance. The distance from hitch pin to the rear of the bumper is approximately 5 inches.
I ordered the Kuat bike rack from etrailer.com because they had the best price. The bike rack came very quickly and it was exactly as described. Their customer service was excellent by keeping me up to date on my order. This is my 2nd purchase from etrailer and I will not hesitate to purchase again. Thanks etrailer!!
My recommendation on putting the rack together: Place the main support into your trailer hitch first, then put on all the trays and accessories. The Kuat instructions could be improved upon, but you can figure it out by looking at a picture of it fully assembled.
I have a great rack! (actually my wife does) I have 5 or 6 friends that use this rack and grew weary of throwing my bike on top of the Outback. Additionally my wife has become interested in venturing off on her own and cannot put a bike on top her outback.
etrailer shipped promptly, and the product arrived in good shape, note: there were a few spots where the parts had jostled around in the box slightly and you could see some marring of the surface. This polished right out with a microfiber towel and mothers. There are a few minor nicks (I mean really minor) on the rack;but, they were there before being put in the factory packaging. Not enough to whine about just know the finish is great just not perfect.
Speaking of the finish the color matches my Outback perfectly, it actually looks like an OEM Subaru thing. Fit is good using the Hidden/Drawtite hitch clearing the hatch while tilted back easily even with 800mm bars. The locking Hitch pin that comes with the rack is 1/2" diameter instead of the normal 5/8", fortunately the hitch mentioned above has a smaller 1/2" about 12mm aft of the 5/8" hole. The hole in the rack is 5/8" but do to the snugging system on the Küat the mismatch I'd of no consequence.
Assembly is easy and someone with good mechanical aptitude should be able to do it in less than 10, an extra set of hands would be nice but aren't required. I built mine on an elevated bench and it was quick and super easy, admittedly I used power tools because I have them.
I'm looking forward to the convenience of a tray.

Despite the warning that you cannot use with front fenders (which we discovered buried in the manual after purchasing) the front wheel retention gadget holds securely to the fork stabilizers on our mountain ebikes.
Cable locks look easy to defeat but would probably slow down a thief long enough to run into a store for 5min.
Nice design. It is clear that they put a lot of thought into the design and construction of this rack and actually tried using it before selling it.
Great upgrade from our hanger-style Yakima rack that the ebikes could barely be loaded on because of their nonstandard frame designs.

I did a lot of research on tray racks and had narrowed it down to Thule, 1up, and Kuat. Then I started looking at what other riders were using. I didn’t see any 1ups where I ride, but I did see a lot of Thules and Kuats. Thule owners are happy with their racks but Kuat owners are FANATICS! Nearly every Kuat owner was a “brand ambassador.” So far this rack had really lived up to the hype....I guess I am now a Kuat brand ambassador too!
(Assembly tip: assemble upside down and use foam or pillows to prop up center piece as you align the arms.)
I have had this rack 1 year and I would buy it again. My wife had a hip replacement and it is so easy to get the bikes loaded and going down the road. We have travel probably 5 thousand miles using the Kuat and it is very secure going down the highway. It’s nice to know that a company builds a product that is built like a tank and performs so nice. I have also bought two Curt trailer hitches from trailer and they are top notch as well.
This Rack Rocks! I go from no rack on the car to rack installed, bikes lock and loaded in about 5 min. It’s sturdy, and so far seems very resistant to the elements. I have had the NV2.0 for a year now and love it!

Peter - 10/26/2022The process has been very easy. From order to on time delivery to assembly. This rack arrived today, I set a half hour aside for assembly. You will need nothing for this easy job. The Allen wrench is included with the rack. Follow the directions and you'll be very happy. As you can see in the two photos, the bikes are on the rack with ease. I have not driven yet, but shook the bikes by hand and rocked them around pretty good. Very little movement, very solid. The rack is a bit more expensive than others, but with its good looks, the ease of operation, and solid construction, I couldn't be happier. Linc
I just installed one of etrailer.com's hitches on my MDX and I'm replacing a 4 year old Swagman XTC2 with the Kuat NV 2.0. The Swagman was okay but I really appreciate the build quality and features of the Kuat. The finish is beautiful and the integrated locks and tilt mechanism will come in handy when I need to access my SUV's liftgate with my bikes on the rack. etrailer.com is a great company to do business with. They had the bike rack in stock and their pricing was the best I could find.
