This was a much needed addition for a drive back to Tucson, AZ from a three month stay in Portland. ME, as we had acquired some extra things and needed more space than our 2015 Honda CRV provided.

This fit on top of the rhino vortex aero roof rack I also purchased from e-trailer perfectly. The cargo box functioned as expected, and although we ultimately could have used a slightly larger cargo box, this one worked great for giving us extra space in our car for the drive home. It was easy to mount and opened easily, although it was a bit tricky to load, a step ladder would have helped. It was tough to close, we had to move some stuff around to get it to latch, but I appreciated that it would not lock unless the latches could fully engage, which made me feel like it was going to remain closed while traveling. We wasted no time putting stickers on it, and added more along the drive home, which was fun.

We traveled through many different types of weather, it was late spring and was rainy in the beginning of our trip, and very hot towards the end of our trip, and the contents were in perfect condition when we arrived home. There was zero water damage inside, and nothing was damaged from being in the heat. Of course there was some reduced gas mileage and added road noise when traveling, but nothing too unbearable.

The 16 cu ft cargo box fits perfectly on the 2018 Toyota Rav4. Literally takes about 5 minutes, 10min at the most, to set up on the rooftop, and was able to do it without the help of a second person. The box itself weighs very little.1123916

Thule rooftop box is great a year later. Super simple but also very secure. Travel with my daughter and dog would not be possible without it.

Great Box! Lots of room,mostly duffle bags. Yet , it is good for having fishing poles, paddles and life jackets. It lets you get the nighttime cargo out of the way to keep the ice chests, food, and extra clothes and shoes easily accesible in thd back of our Mazda CX-5. We spent 4 weeks on the road to the beaches from Maine to North Carolina.
THe box was a little awkward for one person to handle and parallel up with the car from front to back. A helper is needed for that. Also, the screw on clamps get in the way of the bag movement for loading and unloading. The box interior secondary tie down straps should be a little wider with slip velcro slides to hook into the inside roof of the cargo carrier chook velcro for positioning the interior cargo hold down straps. A 2 step short folding ladder with a grab bar is useful for loading and unloading twice a day. THe cargo carrier did not leak water, even during driving rain. As expected , our gas mileage dropped about 10%-20% depending on our speed. Keeping the box parrallel is critical for wind noise and gas mileage. A soft firm taped on non slip cloth material around the clamps and the roof bars solved the problem of the box sliding latterally. Live a little, learn a little. Great box for 3 kids and 2 adults on a very long long trip. THe car is our daily drive vehicle at home and the box let us travel comfortably without having to get a van.1421399

I purchased this cargo carrier about a year ago. I’ve taken it on 5-6 road trips covering multiple states in all kinds of weather. This rack has remained stable and I really like that you cannot leave it open without the key, which works well to ensure I don’t lose it. However, I gave the carrier a 4 as the rubber seal has come off a few times at the far attachment site and I have had a small amount of water get inside the carrier while traveling.1518157

This was purchased off of the etrailer.com website as a "damaged" item at a significantly reduced price. The description on the website described the damage very well and the cargo box has no functional issues of any kind. Also, the cargo box arrived much earlier than I anticipated. Furthermore, when I noticed that the box arrived with the load securing straps missing I emailed etrailer customer support and they had Thule send me two new ones right away. Couldn't be more pleased with etrailer and this cargo box. It fits my 2014 Honda CRV with factory crossbars with just a little bit of rear hatch interference (restricts opening by maybe an inch or two, but can still fully use the rear hatch). Can't speak to durability quite yet as I've only used the cargo box a few times to transport skis and snowboard and plan to use it year-round for road trips. A really great, simple cargo box!1511255

It was easier to install than I expected. Worked really well for a family trip. Kept everything dry and was very light, easy to remove (empty) once we got to our location. We were able to fit all our supplies, pack and play easily into this and had room to go. Gas mileage wasn’t too bad with the box on the Jeep. It was quiet during transport.1499616

The box is easy to open and close. You can fit a lot of luggage inside. The lock keeps my cargo secure. My belongings are kept completely dry from the rain. The box is not loud, even at highway speeds. Attaching the box to my cross rails is a cinch. It is aerodynamic so I’ve only lost about 1 mpg. The only reason I don’t give it 5 stars is because I wish the box was slightly deeper to allow for my hard travel case for golf clubs.1104735

Purchased for our 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee and after multiple uses we have no regrets. The price was good; the Thule Cargo box is surprisingly light, I was able to lift it over my head onto our Jeep fairly easy. The box does only open on one side and given the height of our Jeep, that was an issue when we mounted the box center line on the Jeep. We've since started mounting the cargo box on the right side, so using a step I can easily reach any cargo inside. The two straps for securing cargo are useless and we ditched them for Bihlwerflex bungee straps. Much easier to install and use. The clamps that secure the cargo box to the rails are great, makes the mount/secure process a breeze. I do a walk around and check everything whenever we stop and the clamps have always been secure. 655697

I don’t even know how to open this box. My order got delivered with a missing packing. It’s been over 8 days and still haven’t heard back from anyone here on resolving this. XXX dollar item not in and now I come to discover I can’t even open this box?? Maybe the key was in the other package? Don’t want to break it open but tried opening it by pulling up on the passenger opening side with no luck. Wish I could properly review this item, but not sure I even have all that’s included. This is the worst experience I’ve had yet with not receiving items and no follow up for resolution of this matter.1278484

We've had the Thule Roof Rack & Cargo Box on our Honda CRV for over a year now and have traveled extensively in cold and hot climates (Arizona, Florida, Maine, etc.). The hardware installs and removes easily. We stay in the specs for weight, etc., and have not had a single issue. It gives us the extra space we need. We love this rooftop carrier. It is roomy, lightweight, and very easy to mount onto the factory cross-bars of our 2012 Subaru Outback. We've driven it through rain and had no issues with water infiltration although I believe they have disclaimers that it is not waterproof.

It is large enough to fit our full size baby stroller (folded up of course) along with beach umbrellas, sleeping bags, etc.1514573
