Optronics UCL60 Series Sealed LED Utility Light Diagram

Sonically Sealed, Waterproof Trailer Light

The waterproof construction of this light makes it ideal for use on trailers that may be submerged, like a boat trailer. The housing and lens are sonically sealed together to create a single unit, which means that water will not get into the light and damage the diodes or circuit board.

Raw Lumens vs. Effective Lumens

Lumens are used to measure the amount of usable light that is put out by a light source. Raw lumens represent the number of lumens that the manufacturer claims the LEDs are capable of producing. It does not include the light's drive method or the amount of light lost from the lens or reflector. Effective lumens take these factors into account and represent the number of lumens that are actually produced by the complete light assembly, not just the amount of light that the diodes are capable of producing. This light has a 224 raw lumen capacity and produces 168 effective lumens.

2009 Z520 Ranger...with some modifications they fit great. It was a plus that I work in a machine shop.I has to open up the hole in the stainless steel cover plate, put the new light in the cover plate and drilled the 3 holes in the light...fit perfect!!

Your installation worked out well it seems! Lookin' good!

Worked great before and after

Great LED light used to replace my backup lights on my bassboat trailer. I own a 2010 Ranger bassboat and I recently had a rear tandem tire blowout that damaged the right fiberglass fender. After getting the fender repaired I needed to replace the backup light (which of course was discontinued). I had to find a comparable replacement, so I inquired about the light at a Ranger dealership which retailed for $40.00ea!! I had read on a fishing forum that this etrailer light made a decent replacement for the discontinued light bulb. This light is much brighter than the original, so I replaced both. This fixture is listed as submersible (have not put the boat in the water yet).

CON: This light fixture is about 1/8" smaller in diameter than the OEM fixture (photo), But it is easy to compensate with a small stainless bolt and washer to snug up against the existing hole in the fender. The plastic chrome trim covered any space or holes. I had no problem finding stainless flathead hardware at my local hardware store.

I looked everywhere for a replacement 3” diameter back up light for my Ranger boat trailer. No luck. Ranger didn’t even have a suitable replacement.
That was until I found etrailer.com. Not only did they have what I thought I needed, they answered all of my questions which lead me to my decision to purchase them. After a lot of prep work, I finally installed them yesterday with great success. Not only was the product excellent, but the service was the best I’ve ever had. They kept me informed for every step of the shipping process. Never been treated like that before. Thank you etrailer!
One last note to Ranger Boat trailer owners, I made a 3” dia. x ½” long aluminum adaptor. I mounted the adaptor to the trailer using the 3 existing holes from the original light, and tapping 2 hole for the new UCL60CB. Works great!

Have a 2006 Z20 Ranger Bassboat that my original lights finally gave out. I ordered these as a replacement. They were very easy to install! Make sure to order the wire harness that is "suggested" when ordering. Would have saved me a few days but totally my fault. Also replaced my reverse lights. Both lights are very bright and Im certain will have years more of use. Have suggested the same lights countless times on various Ranger forums and everyone is very pleased as I am with the end result. Thanks again etrailer for a quality product!

by:

Installed them on my 2008 Ranger Trail trailer reverse tail light! Had to do some modifications to the old 3 screw mounting brackets so I didn’t make new holes as this light come with only two screw holes. Made the old 3 screw mounting bracket fit over the LED lights! Extended the wires as well and a new ground! Installed them and it turned out great for replacement lights!

by:

Read a review from Kevin C. about them fitting his Ranger boat trailer. He was right. My '09 trailer needed upgrade to LED for early morning launches. Lights mounted in existing hole. Needed little nut/bolt with larger washers to hold secure. Even though trim is plastic chrome, it still looks good. Have not used lights in real situation but in garage they seem to be about as bright as old lights, however, it seems to light a larger area. A little on the blue tint side. Hope they are truly submersible.

by:

Very nice bright interior RV light, I placed it above the kitchen cabinet top work area!!! Additionally, I upgraded all my interior lights to LEDs in my Renegade Toterhome!

by:

I have a 2009 Z520 Ranger Commanche, these lights work great on my trailer, great price, took about 5 minutes per light to install, holes didn't match perfect, but no worries, a small drill bit, done!

by:

great product for Rangertrail trailer especially older models that no longer can purchase halogen backup lights as replacements

by:

Great product and that look good on my boat

by:

Awesome product,
Used as headlamps for
this 2007 Kawasaki KFX90
Perfect size for this application and low current draw , will not affect any other systems on the bike, looks mean!
Thanks George!

Still working great, as bright as the day it was purchased. A perfect fit replacement for my 2005 Ranger Trail Trailer.

by:

I used all of the items in a van conversion and they have worked out great, I've attached photos.
Thanks for the follow up!!!

by:

Exactly what I needed. This rim heavier duty than the factory version. Will be ordering from etrailer soon.

by:

Ranger Z521 replacement - worked fine - used original stainless ring instead of plastic ring provided. Had to grind the inside of the original ring down to accept this light but bolt holes in original ring matched back up. Looks great.

Great light. Much brighter than original lights.

by:

Replaced the factory back up lights on my Z520. The Factory ones never really worked for more then one season. These lights needed a new hole pattern to fit the factory holes with the factory chrome trim. Very bright and very happy so far with the look and fit.

So far still working great. Much better then the original Ranger lights.

by:

These are the best bought redo for our motorhome. There are three lights under the cabinets over the sink and they had hot and bright bulbs original with expensive replacement bulbs as they kept burning out and finally melted the covers that would fall down and then we replaced them with battery operated one, not bright and too many batteries.
These fit perfect reconnected the two wires and they are not hot and produce bright light for the sink and countertop!! Yeah!!!

by:

I replaced the backup lights on my Ranger boat trailer with these. They look great and was easy to install. They fit where the old lights were, only had to drill 2 mounting holes. The trim ring covers the screws for a great fit.

  • Color Temperature Rating of the Optronics LED RV Utility Light UCL60CB
I spoke with Optronics about the Optronics LED RV Utility Light part # UCL60CB and they were no able to provide a specific color temperature rating. That said, I have attached a video for you which shows the light illuminated so you can get a better feel for the color. I would described this color as a cool white, somewhere around 4,500K.

  • Can Optronics Sealed LED Utility Light UCL60CB Operate with a Dimmer
The Optronics LED Utility Light # UCL60CB is a sealed 6-diode light for use in 12V systems. My technical contact at Optronics confirmed that this light can be used with a dimmer rather than an on/off switch, such as to replace an existing light that is operated by a dimmer control. The only potential issue is at the bottom of the light output range. Some combinations of lights and dimmers will give you a fairly small range of adjustment at the low side of their output. • Optronics LED RV Utility Light Installation On Ranger Boat Trailer
I do not recommend this but he most likely trimmed down the the clear plastic housing ring to fit the old trim ring over it. When installing the # UCL60CB you'll be fine just drilling new holes and using the two screw hole set up and using the chrome trim ring to cover it all up.

  • Optronics LED RV Utility Light as a Dome Light
Yes, the Optronics LED RV Utility Light item # UCL60CB will work as a replacement dome light. You will need to make sure you don't have your dimmer turned down. LED lights do not have the low ranges on the dimmers as incandescent bulbs do and that could have been your issue with previous LED lights. I recommend turning it all the way up and then adjusting it down for your preference.

  • How Does Optronics LED Utility Lamp # UCL60CB Fasten to Mounting Surface
Although it's difficult to see in the photo, the Optronics LED Utility Light you referred to, part # UCL60CB isn't a grommet mount, but rather a surface mounted lamp. The lamp itself has two screw (or bolt) holes for fastening it to the mounting surface. Once the lamp is installed, the trim ring is snapped into place. Nothing is completely theft proof, if a determined thief decides he wants something, he'll get it. However, I believe the fact that the trim ring conceals the fasteners provides...

  • How Does LED Utility Light # UCL60CB Normally Wire to Trailer
Basically the LED Utility Light # UCL60CB that you referenced only needs 12 volt power ran to the red wire and then ground on the white wire. Typically people will run the power wire from the 12 volt accessory circuit on the trailer. This commonly is ran to a battery if availalble. Then for the ground you can attach it to a metal part of the trailer frame or run it back to the ground of the trailer battery.

  • Why Would Trailer 4-Way have 7 Wires Ran to It
Since wiring runs to both sides of the trailer sometimes we find that trailer wiring will have a left and right hand side for each relevant circuit. Sometimes also there are multiple ground wires as well. Normal circuits that are split for each side is the ground circuit and the running light circuit. Which leaves normally two wires left. One for the right hand stop/turn circuit and one for the left hand stop/turn circuit. That's a total of 6 so a 7th wire is probably an additional ground....

It depends on what type of light you are looking for. If you want a tail light assembly then it would have to have a red reflector on it to be DOT approved. Since the Optronics Utility Light # UCL60CB is a high-efficiency LED type, it may not present the kind of electrical load to the reverse light circuit that a standard bulb does. In this circumstance a load resistor added to each light can resolve the issue by making the LED light appear to have the higher resistance of a standard incandescent bulb. Part # DI34ZR is a load resistor with quick-connect fasteners that will resolve this issue.
