It installed pretty easy, thanks for the videos showing the wire colors, so everything went together pretty smoothly.
I've ordered this before. Always a great product just don't understand why brown isn't running lights green isn't it turn etc.
My old plug came loose going down the road and wore a big flat spot that made it hard to tell which way to plug it in. This new one is a huge improvement!
Well, my first impression of this item is it is very sturdy and will be a great addition to my trailer.

Looks well made and what I like most and why I bought this one was because of the newer style plug that comes in it. I have yet to test it out but I got it wired up.
I keep forgetting to put dialectric grease in my trailer electrical plugs but these cables are easy to replace when using the terminal strip junction boxes.
Used this on my snowmobile trailer. The cable outer jacket is to rigid (Not flexible). Gets worse in colder temps. Don't recommend it for cold use. Picture is in garage at 53F. Cable is so stiff it won't fall on the floor.
This is a replacement to the one that i already have. The last one was damaged from some road debris. Excellent product

Worked great for my application. The wire colors for 7 way plugs aren't universal so I had to pull up a pinout of a 7 way plug and ohm out the wires to the plug to confirm what went where. But the quality of the plug is excellent. After a year of use on a salt water boat trailer it works great. Just makes sure you heat shrink your butt splices and a little dielectric grease in the plug goes a long way.
Worked. Was shorter than 4 feet.

This is 2nd one I have ordered. I put one on my enclosed trailer and love it. It is very sturdy and well made.
Right now 3 stars. Received the connector 12 Oct 2021. The cord on the trailer had the same connector on it which worked if you manipulated the pins to make connection (reason for replacing). The wiring colors on trailer, old connector snd new connector are the same, so adding new connector wasn’t a problem. When I plugged into the vehicle and tried the lights, nothing worked properly. The only time any lights came on was when right turn or hazard switches were activated and ALL the lights on trailer came on flashing. Tried the connection on 2 vehicles with same result. Called etrailer and they are sending another connector. Will give update then.

When I ordered this harness I thought I was getting a standard 7 way for a conventional trailer with brakes. What I actually got was a harness made for a camper/RV hook up. The wires have all the colors you would expect but all the lights/turn signals are coded into the plug completely different. After spending a good deal of time carefully matching, soldering and heat shrinking all connections to my new trailer harness, I was very dismayed to find only the brakes actually worked. After a bit of research I found a schematics page on the etrailer site and discovered the problem. As this is a molded plug I could not take it apart and just reposition the wires inside the plug. Another full hour or more of rewiring followed and now all is well. The harness itself is of very good quality but was not labeled/identified properly. This could have been prevented if etrailer would clearly label this harness as a camper/RV harness only.
Ordered 1/28 - showed shipped 2/1 with estimated delivery date of 2/6. It had a USPS tracking number that would only show the label was created. Never showed the product moved. After two contacts with customer service I was told they can't track the package until a certain date. I was notified 2/17 my package would be delivered that day. Not sure what contract etrailer has with USPS but I can track a tin of cookies to Pittsburgh, PA I think they can tell me where my $[XX] package of parts is at.
The quality of this trailer plug connector should make it last forever! The seal at the end will withstand the constant bending and twisting that this daily-use utility trailer will put to it. The blade style RV plug end will fit any factory equipped pickup receptacle so I can use multiple tow vehicles.

Still working fine after a year in my Coastal saltycorrosive weather.
My horse trailer OEM unit was brittle and stiff, after just a few years. This new wire harness from etrailer fixed the problem and was easy to install. It is even a little longer then the OEM, so there is more more room for turning sharp corners.

This is definitely a good quality molded cord for the money. Route and wire this cord into a good quality junction box and you will be on your way to having some excellent trailer wiring.
Bought a 20 year old horse trailer and needed to rewire it. The original pigtail had a 6 terminal plug, my new pick-up had a flat four and a 7 pin. When I bought it the guy gave me a 6 to 7 pin adapter but it didn't allow electric brakes. They are required in my state for a trailer over 1500 lbs. Think trailer with two horses. So I bought this pigtail. It is top quality and has large gauge wiring. I also needed break-away switch so I needed a battery. This pig-tail has #10 wires for both 30 amps (+12V) and Chassis ground. This really puts a charge in the trailer battery. (would do the same for an RV) Then #14 wire for the brake signal. This plugs right into the seven pin plug on my pickup with the tow package. Highly recommend.

I needed these parts quickly and they were delivered as promised. Very impressive.
Overall a good product, but it could be better. Two main improvements would help a lot. First, color coding the wires to match industry standard instead of the random coloring that is used. Second, the plug is twisted, see picture.
A foot longer would have worked better, but this did the job just fine.
Have had this for a year now. Use it once a week in summer. Connection is still 100%. Great product.

Its been a year since I got this. The cord has stood the test of time. I dont store it outside so weather isnt the challenge. Its more like the long summer drives. Condition wise it is 98 good, just minor scraps and scratches. No connectivity issue or shorts. I would highly recommend this over others.
So, I have been wiring trailers for a while now. I have been known to wire thing backwards before. So when I got all finished wiring it up and my marker lights were flashing , I thought, I did it again. Re check all the wires. And I have brown for brown, green for green, and yellow for yellow. Well come to find out, nothing is color coded with this pigtail. Cut it all apart and rewire it all. They said they sent me a link for the wiring but I could not find anything about the colors not matching.

There is more than one accepted color code for wiring a 7-way trailer connector. We explain the color code above in the product description.
Cord is good quality but wire color code doesnt follow the normal trailer light standards. It makes more work for you have to I.D each wire back to trailer plug

The trailer connector you purchased does indeed use a different color code, which is why we specifically mention this on the product page. The connector would wire up as follows- White wire is Ground, Red wire is Left TurnBrake lamp, Brown wire is Right TurnBrake lamp, Green is Taillights, Blue is Trailer Brakes, Black is 12-Volt power from battery and Yellow is an auxiliary circuit, frequently used for the reverse lamps.

Holding up very well
Great quality. However, the wire colors do not apply to the proper loads. Brown has always been tail lights for many years but on this plug, it is green. Why are there different colors for 7 pin plugs vs 4 pin? That makes everything extremely confusing. A single standard needs to be adopted.

Brown is for tail lights on the traditional SAE board, but for this particular wiring, it is green. In this attached help article, it shows the color chart under the RV standard wiring. It is necessary to test each color as it may be completely different on your set up.

I often have to fix wiring harness in the field after some idiot managed to forget to unplug when disconnecting a trailer. This allowed for a quick change with out too much cussing. I added loop connectors to the ends ahead of time making the field repairs faster.
This was never right from the start. The brake controller portion worked, but I ended up wiring in a four flat for my lights because we were leaving on a trip the next morning. I was busy and never got anything done about it, and eventually replaced the molded plug before I sold the trailer. Hopefully mine was just a fluke.

I wanted a better wiring harness then what the usual discount national auto parts stores stock. So I went to the web and found this site. Ordered the six foot model (I had been having the existing harness disconnect from the four plug adapter too many times) to give me enough length.
Seems very high quality, both the individual wires and the outer protective sheath.
Wiring was pretty simple; slight difference in color coding. Just take your time. I used the 3M heat shrink crimp connections.
Here's a wiring tip:
If you cut the wires in a staggered sequence, instead of all the same length, then when wrapping, you don't end up with a huge bulge where all the crimped connectors are.
Quality of the product was good but wtf. I’ve been wiring trailers and trucks for years. The colors of the wires used to be pretty standard and nothing was standard on this plug. And no diagram so I had to ohm out every pin and wire to fuigure out what went where. I don’t think I’ll buy a molded plug again
I have the 7-way cable installed. Everything checks out OK, will know better when I take the rv over the road.

Sturdy construction! Much better than using those plastic replacement ends. Only complaint is, the wire colors didn't match standard configurations, a few minutes with a test light and we were in business.

Item arrived very quickly, and is an excellent cable for my cargo trailer rewire. My original trailer wiring was chewed up by the cows. The trailer wiring I purchased is better than the original because an adapter is not required to connect to the 7 wire plug on the truck.
Very good quality trailer wiring connector. Just be sure you don't simply connect color to color when you splice into trailer wiring. 'FUNCTION' positions may be standardized on the connectors, but color codes are definitely NOT.
Equipment supplied was very robust and of good manufacture,it did however take me a while to fit the new brakes without any written instructions that was very disappointing, Had the boat and trailer out today and everything seams to be running Hot have re greased the Bearings and will continue to monitor.Overall once you get you head around the fitting they go on easily
