This powered roof vent is great! I mounted it above the cab in my 1991 high-top conversion van to provide cool air when camping in it. Fan is more powerful than I expected! I rarely need to switch it to high speed. It's quiet enough for sleeping just a few feet away. Installation was easy and dimensions were accurate. Controls are easily accessible. Auto temp control is really nice when outdoor temps are dropping during the night so we don't get too cold. Rain sensor triggers to close cover after only a few drops of rain! Reversible fan is nice.

by: Greg04/24/2022

The vent only opens and closes if the fan is actively running. Kind of annoying. I just want to open and close regardless of fan running or not but that is not an option. So for instance...say I just want to open the vent but I do not need the fan..nope. You need to turn the fan knob to on...then toggle the open/close switch.

And further... First trip with it the plastic vent cover broke right where the metal lift arm attaches. This is the worst. I can deal with the vent/fan working in an odd combination but the fact that it broke already is very poor.

Hope I can get in contact with someone at etrailer about this.

Comments
I will have our Customer Service team reach out to you. I reached out to the manufacturer about opening the lid without running the fan. They advised that you can use the knob that is attached to the lift motor to open the vent while the fan is off.

This is an excellent product. Our unit is a 2007 Coachhouse Platinum 231SD which had two fantastic fan factory vents. The fans units were aging and one was leaking so I ordered two upgraded units.

The installation was quite easy actually. I removed the old units, cleaned the openings of old putty and Dicor, installed new sealing putty tape, used the old screws to attach the new units and applied new Dicor self leveling sealer. Just have to make sure you get the old sealer and putty cleaned off before installing the new units. I then reconnected the wiring for each unit and installed the new surrounds.

The old units were a lower profile than the new units owing likely to the larger reversible fan blades requiring more headroom which I do not see as a problem. I also had to trim the new surrounds so they would fit flush with the ceiling.

What made it so much easier was the product itself being the exact fit and finish for my application.

THE FAN WORKS FINE, BUT THE POWER SWITCH TO RAISE AND LOWER THE VENT LID QUIT WORKING AFTER THE THIRD USE. I REALLY LIKE BEING ABLE TO REVERSE THE FAN AND DRAW COOLER AIR IN.

Comments
You mentioned that the power switch for raising and lowering the lid was not working. I reached out to the manufacturer who advised that it could be the switch or a power issue. If you are interested, you can take it to a service center to have it looked at since it is still under warranty. It does have a limited lifetime warranty.

Great fan so far, altho I did just install it. Installation was easy as it could be.

The operating instructions are far from complete. There's a specific way to operate these functions but it's not mentioned anywhere in the instructions. Main power switch needs to be on for anything to work (obvs), as well as the fan speed needs to be on at least one for the top to open, the fan won't turn on until the top is open. So power on, fan speed on, then vent can open, then fan turns on. It's a little confusing. I had to watch a video in order to get this unit working. Initially I thought it was hooked up wrong, then thought the unit was bad. Could of saved 30 mins of head aches if the instructions spoke of this.

etrailer has always been a reliable supplier, fast shipping and excellent customer service. They are as close to an [online vendor] as possible, for logistics and for the products they sell.

The fan works perfect

by: jage07/25/2017

Absolute waste. It seems like when the company was sold they changed the programming and instead of fixing it or giving customers an option (read: a simple switch!) they made it so the rain sensor just shuts it permanently absolutely destroying any usefulness of the rain sensor. Customer service doesn't even understand the problem (e.g. getting up at 3 am because of a 2 minute rain at midnight to cycle the fan power) or alternative uses (e.g. using the fan to prevent overheating for longer periods- an all day hike). It now just closes permanently a the first drop of rain instead of reopening when the sensor is dry.

I literally ripped this brand new fan out two weeks after install and a year later it's still sitting on my workbench because I refuse to hobble someone else with this absolute piece of garbage before I get a chance to override the problem with an FRM01 12v relay computer. I haven't bothered because 1. I have a better fan (the old version I was lucky enough to find) 2. this one has a chimney which sits up 2" higher 3. the new motor is weak enough that even if nothing else was wrong it would still be a mediocre fan.

The old model has a horizontal front hinge and a black motor housing that extends into the lid. Beware a lot of images of the old model are still used in listings for the new model.

Package arrived damaged, but fan appears to be acceptable. etrailer provided a good price and shipping. I have purchased from them many times and have always been pleased!

by: Ref10/02/2022

This was a perfect replacement for our old fan (model no longer available). etrailer suggested this replacement and we’re so pleased with it. Install was easy after we figured out our wiring (found past posts in etrailer site for help). Thanks so much!!

by: Willard07/26/2022

All items were delivered in good condition in two separate deliveries over a two day period. There was only one tracking number for two deliveries, so when they first delivery was made, I couldn't track the remaining order...making me believe the remainder of my order was not shipped. This was very frustrating. Two or more separate boxes coming on one order should have their own tracking number, letting the customer know they're still on transit.

The fan-tastic is a great product, I have had several on my r vs in the past 30 years.I wouldn't be without one. They are easy to install. Melissa T at e-trailer was great helping me. I have bought several things from e-trailer, and have never been disapointed.

by: Merlyn08/19/2022

It was OK for a week, then the powered opener quit. The thermostat works fine. I just ordered a hood for it, so the lid can stay open.

by: Jim04/17/2022

Excellent product and easy to install. The Product did arrive with some slight damage but etrailer send me a new part right away. Highly recommend dealing with etrailer.

by: Victor06/01/2022

Love the fan. Replaced an origonal vent on 1976 GMC Motorhome. Required a little cutting as the old vent had rounded corners.

by: Deborah 09/14/2021

I love the fans. I bought two and they help keep my rv's temperature at a reasonable temp. I would rather have fresh air than use the air conditioner.

by: Steven 10/05/2022

I would order from you again. No shipping games, product was exactly what I ordered. Over all a very good experience

by: Joan 10/04/2022

Had to replace a 22-year old version of this fan. The new one is smooth in operation and works like a charm.

by: Donald 12/09/2022

Always timely deliveries. Product always as described.

by: Marie 11/17/2022

Very fast delivery! Looking good, I will install it later next week...

by: Dennis 07/17/2022

This is a great fan, fits perfectly. Prompt delivery

by: Saeid10/19/2022

Easy to install

by: Adele04/09/2021

The quality looks very good ! I just received the package and have not installed the fan yet.
I do like buttons on the fan instead of on a remote control. More direct.
The price was great and the service was fantastic !!.
I know this fan will fit perfectly as upgrade for replacement on my old fan.

by: David 12/24/2021

Wanted to upgrade the feeble factory bath vent so I went with this one. As always etrailer was the best price and delivery was perfect.

etrailer is my "go to" place for rv accessories, everything I've received from them has been delivered on time, and the products are quality. They pack the merchandise very well, nothing to date has arrived damaged. I am very satisfied with the products and service I receive from them.

Put this in to get heat out of semi. Open side vent and turn fan on high exhaust wow what a game changer.

by: Jackie 03/15/2023

Love these fans ! The reverse fan feature is great for bringing in cool air into our fifth wheel OR pulling inside air out. Works great to move steam outside from showering or cooking. The remote is super handy for the high ceiling in our living space - no stool needed !
I had existing fans of this exact model, one had a broken lid and the other had a bad board. I ordered one fan and used parts to make 2 working fans. Took me less than an hour to swap and change parts and have them working again.

by: Jeff 09/12/2022

Pretty solid fan overall. Love the features except for the tight tolerances on the voltage allowed for the fan. On my trailer the fan is tied in with the ceiling light circuit in the area. If lights are on and fan is trying to run at higher speeds, voltage on that line drops to around 12.2 volts DC and triggers an alarm in the fan and it shuts down. Many people have struggled with these circuit boards and protection circuits on these fans for this very same reason. Sure wish there was a solution to an almost perfect product.

by: Alicia04/11/2018

Initially I was real apprehensive about getting this fan installed on my 16’ Casita. Not because I didn’t want the fan, believe me I did. The specifications alone were impressive, but the ability to run it like a ceiling fan, with the vent closed was hands down the most impressive feature. Something my little Dachshund Cinnamon would surely attest to. The front mounted ac unit in the 16’ Casita benifits greatly from this fan, it circulates the air better, cools things quicker and, helps maintain the temperature better. There is little information about putting this on a Casita, much less a 16’ one, but I’m happy with my decision to do so. This fan is awesome, and Etrailer was very helpful with information on my purchase. Another note was that I’m happy Terry my installer did this project, the factory installed Fan was riveted in from the top, and removing it wouldn’t have been a typical by the book procedure. Thanks George J. I’m one happy camper, and that’s without mentioning the remote control, air flow on low settings, great price, fast delivery, or quietness of the product.
Sincerely,
A. McCord
Sgt. US Army Ret.

Still going strong. I can’t say enough positive things about this fan. It’s hard to imagine life without it. The air flow created by using this fan with a cracked window is impressive, and that’s without placing it on the highest setting, something I rarely do unless it’s to cool things off while away.

Good price, fast shipping, personal support, with actual HUMANS that can be consulted with questions. Skip [online], and buy from etrailer. It costs no more, and you will receive personalized service. The MaxxFan installation went great on my 2018 Transit van. Since I will be sleeping in the van, I probably should have bought a white fan instead of the smoke colored one, which allows light to enter. I also watched five [online] videos which gave additional informative installation tips.

by: GMC05/05/2018

I am still happy with the 7500K fan a year later. Installation was straightforward - removing the existing vent (and cleaning off the caulk) was the hardest part. I like the way the unit attaches to the mounting ring, so it can be easily removed if needed. I did not have a problem aligning the screw holes as another reviewer encountered. The fan is in the bath above the shower and we run it on low to remove the humidity when showering. I mounted the remote control on the wall where it has a direct line-of-sight path to the fan, so we don't ever need to take the remote out of the wall cradle. One problem with the fan is that when it is off it still has a current draw of about 20 ma (per the factory). My travel trailer does not have a battery disconnect, so that 20 ma draw is enough to discharge the battery over many months in storage. To correct this, I installed a toggle switch on the fan (see photo) which I can use to totally power down the unit. A second complaint I have relates to "auto mode" where the fan shuts off at a preset temperature. I planned to use this at night, to have the fan cool off my RV until it reaches a nice temperature, and then shut off. Problem is that when the temperature is reached, not only does the fan shut off, but the lid automatically closes. The lid closing is noisy enough to wake us up. As a result, I find auto mode to be pretty useless. But overall, the fan is quiet, moves a good amount of air, and can be left open rain or shine (I leave it open in storage to get some air circulation). Finally, I made current draw measurements at each speed, which some folks might find useful: OFF ~10 mA, 1 ~100 mA, 2 ~150 mA, 3 ~230 mA, 4 ~350 mA, 5 ~500 mA, 6 ~700 mA, 7 ~950 mA, 8 ~1.30 A, 9 ~1.6 A, 10 ~2.4 A.

by: James02/03/2023

This Deluxe fan/vent works very well and was easier to install than I thought it would be and looks great installed. In fact easier to install than the older models that require a separate cover unit. The only improvement would be the self tapping phillips head screws included for installation. The phillips head would often slip so I wound up reusing the square head screws I removed from the original units that came with the RV.

by: Neil 03/02/2023

I was hesitant to buy one with the powered lift, however it's been great for the camper bathroom. Remote is mounted down low so the kids that easily turn it on before getting in the shower...if I would have done the manual lift, I'd have a lot more moisture problems.

by: Vick T.06/30/2017

I installed the Maxxfan Deluxe 7500 in place of my factory bathroom vent fan in my Winnebago View. This was a great upgrade as it now provides air circulation throughout my motorhome vs. just being a bathroom vent. The installation was easy as it fit in the same opening with just some slight trimming of interior trim due to the wider interior bezel. The automatic temperature option as well as the ability to control the unit with a remote control makes it very easy to use.

by: Samuel 11/20/2022

My first installation of a roof vent and it went pretty well. I really like all the features this vents has and how easy it is to operate. The automatic open and close at 78 degrees is perfect for when my trailer is not in use to keep the temperature down in the summer. The fan is also strong enough to pull air through and get cooking smoke or smells out of the trailer quickly as well.

by: Frederick10/27/2022

First I ordered the wrong part(my error) and Ms Ana S not only got my order straightened out, but also set me up with the correct part that was on back order needed to repair an older MaxxAir fan. At the same time I had decided to order another MaxxAir fan to install in another room of our rv. This MaxxAir fan is every bit as nice as the first one we have. The part that broke eventually came in ahead of schedule and I received it, thanks to excellent customer support from Ana the part was exactly what I needed and my fan has performed perfectly ever since. My wife and I have simply been amazed of the service we have received from Etrailer and especially Ana. I would not hesitate to use the services provided by Etrailer in the future. Customer service like it use to be A+

by: Terry11/09/2019

I was looking to replace the ceiling vent in our fifth wheel with an electric fan with remote, so I wouldn’t have to use a step stool to open and close the vent. Since the stock vent had no electrical running to it, I had to find a 12v source near it that was not on a switched circuit and that could handle the amperage draw. I had a light above the sink and decided to pull out the microwave to see if 12v wires ran behind it. I was fortunate enough to find 12v wires running through the microwave cabinet, so I used a steel fish tape and ran my Wires through the ceiling to the top cabinet and down through to the microwave cabinet and spiced the new wires to the existing 12v wires. I really thought this install was going to be a lot harder, but it was really easy and took less than two hours. I can only give the fan four stars, because fan really hasn’t been used much yet, but so far I really like it.

by: Lori 10/28/2022

I elected to put this fan in my bedroom instead of a 2nd A/C. My trailer is only 26 ft so one A/C is enough (unless you're in the SW in the summer). I like to open my bedroom window and have the fan going to draw air in. Works great whether I'm plugged in or boondocking. I like that you can close the lid and it acts like a ceiling fan to still give you air circulation. I had another one installed in the bathroom to replace the original lame exhaust fan.

by: Trailrider11/19/2022

The Maxxfan is the best of the best in my opinion when it comes to RV roof vents. I installed one in our 31’ Thor Ace motor home about a year ago and now just recently purchased another one for my wife’s small Travel Trailer. They are a little pricey but like a lot of things you get what you pay for. The hand held remote works flawlessly and these fans move a enormous amount of air either out of the camper and they will bring in outside air when it’s desired. And lastly I’ve always ordered them from etrailer. They are awesome for anything you may need for your camper. They are very professional and shipping is prompt and accurate.

by: William B.07/13/2018

This is the second install of a MaxxFan for me. The one pictured was done earlier this year in my daughters Transit Connect. What a great little fan! It was a challenge getting this fan to fit along with 200 watts of solar panels. In the end, I couldn't be happier with the results. It looks and functions perfectly! Finishing it off inside with the headliner in place was also challenging, but it looks terrific inside and out.
She's currently living the vanlife somewhere out west. I hear all the time how great the fan works in keeping the temperature comfortable. The best feature of this fan compared to it's competitor, is that you don't need to worry about leaving it open during foul weather, or driving down the highway with it open, for that matter. With "brand-X" you better close it during rain, and make sure its closed while driving.

Because I was so impressed how her fan installed, works, and looks, it was a no brainer getting another one for my current van build, (a 2015 full size Transit Wagon.) This time I got the Deluxe version with remote control.

One more thing. DO GET THE ADAPTER !!! Look on eBay, you'll find it. It makes life so easy installing this fan, or even brand-X... He tells you to use Urethane Window Adhesive (From Napa) for the installation. We did on the first one, and it worked OK. I've used 3M 4200 Marine sealant on other stuff, and it's awesome. I will skip using the Urethane this next time, and use 4200 exclusively. If you use 3M 5200, its' also great stuff, but be advised, it will not come off of anything without being cut, or ground off. The 4200 can be removed with acetone. Also, DO use the GE Sealant they talk about here, great stuff. And, the DICOR self-leveling sealant is great stuff as well.
Shipping was quick and on time! Bridgette with eTrailer is awesome! Thanks Bridgette. Price can't be beat.
Good luck to all on your Van builds.

by: Bruce Malone04/25/2019

We dry camp mostly and AC will not run off of solar power. The Max Fan Vent will help move air in or out of the camper. I also have a small space heater that runs on our propane. The ceiling fan feature will be a nice way to maximize the effects of the heater. The furnace is fine when it is freezing out but uses much propane. The little heater is just fine for those cool evenings and chilly mornings. The Max Fan will make it even better.

by: Dennis T04/15/2020

After a year a small amount of stickiness to open after sitting closed for a several months. Very quiet and for a small Sprinter camper it works as designed. I seldom run it at full power which is about 45 watts. Usually about 20% which only uses about 12 watts. Nice to have the multiple settings. In a small van like this I probably could have gotten by with the manual only model. But the remote has temperatures on its display so that is nice to have. All in all a well made product.

by: Randy 10/25/2022

This vent has been great, the auto temp controls helps keep the trailer from getting so hot.
My only complaint is that auto on and auto off temp control does not seem to recognize speed control settings. It would be nice if I could only open 1 window and set the fan to only 30 or 40%. Meaning, when I'm away from the trailer and not sure if it's going to rain, I don't want to leave windows wide open.

by: Thomas 11/11/2022

So far so good. I received my MaxxFan Deluxe 7500K quickly and in good condition. All pieces and parts arrived well packed and unbroken and bench testing confirmed that fan, both manual and remote operation, was functioning at 100%. Unit will ultimately be installed into a smaller travel trailer for faster cool down, inside, on those hotter afternoons. This has been rated 4 out of 5 only because I have no long term experience using this product yet.

by: Haylee12/20/2022

We did have a problem at first, the fan would stop and sound an alarm. We contacted the Manufacturer, they sent us a new circuit board and it has worked great since. It moves alot of air. No fogged mirrors in our bathroom after a shower!

by: Monica02/03/2020

Very Quiet, looks great, powerful. I installed this myself in a [email protected] 400 (teardrop). Wasn't originally going for one with a remote, but it's very handy, and I'm glad I bought this model. The "smoke" cover color option lets in light, but not too much. I've camped in extremely windy-rainy conditions and no water gets inside. Camping in the trees now, and no leaves or pine needles get in. And you can't beat the helpful good folks at etrailer. Great customer service and price.

by: Randy S.04/18/2017

The installation was quite easy, most difficult part was cleaning and removing caulking from the previous vent. I like the simplicity of the remote control.
I haven't really used it on the road yet, but happy with the installation and design of the unit.
A couple of pictures are attached.

by: Cara04/17/2022

Kyle helped me select the best fan for my needs, gave me some hints for a good install and then offered to help me with tech support, including his number, if I ran into any trouble.

by: David W03/01/2022

So far so good. I installed the new vent fan the same day it arrived. The install was pretty straight forward and easy for me to do. All I had to do was remove the old vent and run some power wires to the new fan. I installed the fan in the front bedroom of our trailer and found power at the small fan in the bathroom vent. I installed the new fan and sealed the top side with some putty tape and Dicor. I am very satisfied with the operation of the new unit. It is a great way to upgrade your RV.

by: William 08/18/2022

The fan is powerfull and works well with the thermostat to automatically vent an RV bedroom or bathroom. However the fan blades are not large enough to cool like a ceiling fan. if you are looking to cool down a space without AC, an evaporative cooler would work better in a dry climate.
