Big selling point for this system was “no drill”. Said so on the box. Most definitely HAD to drill… so don’t bank on that truth. Kit works well. Drove 3000+ miles with trailer for two weeks immediately following install. Work AMAZING at stabilizing the Van and improving performance. Helped tremendously. I would highly recommend. Took me about 5 hours to install … removing the old joints bumpers was the hardest part. I have had one of the air fittings fail on me now twice. Have to take stem tool and remover then re-install that stem valve. Seems to solve problem. I am a little worried about the long term performance of that stem. Not sure how to remover the press for hose to replace the part. We will see. Have now driven close to 5k miles on them in 3 1/2 weeks.

Comments
I have contacted Firestone about your situation and they had suggested that it sounds like you are talking about the inflation valves. There certainly is no problem removing and reinstalling the valve core. Is the same as on any tire. Pressing the core should release pressure in the air spring.

Review from a similar Ride-Rite in Vehicle Suspension

I mounted the Firestone airbag system on my 2008 Toyota Tacoma pickup. It was not as easy as the video makes it look (especially on the drivers side) but, it it turned out great. I mounted the compressor in the compartment behind the passenger seat behind the driver (see pic). I mounted the gauge and switch in the compartment between the driver and passenger (see pic). The airbag pictures are when they were holding 70 lbs pressure checking for air leaks. The first picture of the pickup is with 5 lbs air pressure in the bags and the second is with 50 lbs air pressure in the bags. When driving with 5 lbs in the bags it has the normal smooth ride and does a good job at 30 lbs of keeping the back end from sagging when I pull my boat.

Comments
Everything is still working great without any leaks. I would highly recommend them for any Tacoma owners.

I’m happy with the bags overall. These are my second set. I had a set on a 2019 Chevy 3500 and never an issue. Now I have them on my 2022 Chevy 2500. Install was straight forward. Only came across one issue. The drivers side bag has a lean to it. In the video it mentions tapping the lower forward hook bracket into place near the shock mount, but my mount was welded too close to do this. So, it could only go inside of the shock mount. Hopefully it’s ok.

Comments
I reached out to Firestone and they said that your set up looks safe and secure, ready to use! So now you can rest at ease and ride with peace of mind knowing all is on the up and up.

The Ride-Rite air helper springs work great. If I'm pulling a heavy trailer or loading my truck with a heavy load, I can add air to adjust the ride and level my truck. They really help the ride.

etrailer was very helpful with making sure I ordered the right product. As for the product... I love the addition to my 20201 Toyota Tundra TRD PRO. It made towing my 2021 Lance 2285 Travel Trailer a dream. The truck and trailer sit perfectly level now and the truck handles great. Easy install only took a couple of hours. In my pic... the stabilizer jacks are down because I was doing a quick overnighter and didn't want to unhitch. But the stabilizers aren't lifting the camper or truck.. just kissing the ground to keep the camper from rocking when inside. Its the only pic I had handy.

Review from a similar Ride-Rite in Vehicle Suspension

So the bags were only on the truck for a few months before the brackets started bending. Had to take them off a couple of times to straighten out the metal but they didn’t stay true for very long. When the system was new it worked beautifully, improved the handling of the vehicle and got better gas mileage. Ran them at about 50 to 70 lbs and they never leaked.tolerances on my vehicle are tight(like most new trucks) so even a slight bend in the brackets caused wheel contact, not a good scenario. Bags were installed on a 2016 nissan titan xd 4x4 to haul a cab over camper that has a dry weight of 1700lbs.

Comments
Generally, bending brackets happen when the air springs have too little air to support whatever load. When this happens, the rubber bellows becomes a rubber bumper and hammers on the brackets until something bends or breaks.

Great bags. But Firestone needs different 5th gen lower brackets.
The carriage bolt was rubbing my hard brake lines. I had to space them out with washers. I ended up installing the Daystar cups and just not using the lower bracket. Personal opinion is it should come with cups instead. All in all the bags are great. Only issue was the rubbing.

How many stars (1-5, 5 being Excellent) would you give the product: 4 ½ on both items

Product Review: Installed the Firestone Air Command Compressor system and Firestone Ride-Rite helper rear Air Bags on my 2020 F-250 Super Duty (Lariat Sport Edition).

The install was pretty straight forward and took 5 hours for all components.

Put my truck up on the rack and removed factory jounce bumper and installed the upper bracket of the air spring with no issues.
Installed bottom bracket and bag again with no issues (Pic drivers side bag).
Had to make a slight cut out to the bottom axle strap bracket on the passenger side to account for brake line (Pic passenger side axle bracket).
Ran all airlines (had to remove spare tire for easy access) to the passengers side frame. Mounted the compressor and control unit to the passenger side frame (Pic Compressor mount)
Covered all airlines with 1/2" wire loom to protect the lines. Checked all connections and no leaks.
Downloaded Air Command App and tested the system.
I have not had any issues pulling my 16,000 lb 5th wheel over the past year.(Pic Truck camper)

Overall I am very impressed with the system I installed and the great customer service I received when ordering the product!

Went on a 01 ford excursion 7.3 diesel 2wd. First off they don't tell you that on the driver side you will have to fight the fuel lines to get the lower bolt and not on, if you have a lift might not be bad but rolling around on the ground one handed takes some patience. The brackets bend pretty easy when you tighten them up I wish they where of thicker gauge it would give me more piece of mind.overall it's a easy install.

Review from a similar Ride-Rite in Vehicle Suspension

Installed easily, and used them to pull a heavy 24’ trailer across the country with a half ton pickup. The only thing I’d like to see is a manual leveling system with gauges and a compressor on board. I use a hand pump specifically for motorcycle air suspension to make the fine adjustments required to set the pressure. Works well.
They did their job perfectly.

Comments
After a year, they are a great aid in hauling a d towing with my half ton. No more sagging rear suspension when loaded. Yes, the rear ride firmed up a little even with only five pounds pressure. That’s a small trade-off.

Great product, I ordered this for a 1998 custom e350 running 2010 king ranch gear meaning the running gear, since I couldn’t go with the kit specific for my van due to the fact that I converted it to 4x4 I ordered this kit. I did have to drill some holes since it was not specific to my rig, but that was no big deal just used a step bit. I also had to cut a bracket and reroute my emergency brake line, but hey I knew it wasn’t gonna be super easy. Any way kit is superb bags are top quality. The kit comes supplied with everything you need

Review from a similar Ride-Rite in Vehicle Suspension

Not very happy with the purchase. Packaging was sub par, 28 lbs of steel and airbags dumped into a 12x12x12 box, no packaging material. Airbags had caps over the air inlet, but both caps came off in shipping. Aluminum inserts were MISSING the threaded holes for the alignment studs. Had to drill and tap the 4 inserts (see pictures), thankfully I had a 10-24 tap on hand. Instructions are not clear in terms of 3/8” washer usage, the list of parts at the top of each page shows the incorrect amount of washers vs what is shown in the instructions, as a result not enough washers for the install, one again I had some at home thankfully, finally, the 3/8” bolts are not long enough to go through the lower brackets and provide enough thread engagement for the nylock nuts. There is no bolt stick out after assembly. The air line is very flimsy and is easy to link. Overall the only thing I liked about the kit was the air fill line bracket and the lower clamps that wrap the axle. I would likely go with the airlift product if I could do it again. Hopefully it functions well. Will find out when I put 4000 lbs over the axle.

Comments
Thank you for your review. The instructions say the frame nuts may not have the second hole. You can tape them in place while you secure the upper bracket. The all thread is a temporary use during the installation of the upper bracket and is then removed.

Review from a similar Ride-Rite in Vehicle Suspension

2015 Ram 3500 CCLB, Kit was received in a timely manner. Good packaging, no damaged components. I read the directions several times so I had a clear path to install. Directions are very specific without confusion.

Install: Took me about 3hrs. Could have been quicker, but I wasn't racing anybody. Very methodical about how everything was installed. Everything went just as the directions detailed. 1 missing note: no comment about the E Brake cable interfering with the L upper bracket. Cable settled into a reasonable position to prevent damage to the cable housing. Air fittings on top of bags: can be difficult to tighten due to the limited space. Use caution to prevent damage to the fittings.

I did use a compression "T" to combine both lines to 1 fill fitting. No really good place to put the fittings at the back of the truck. The supplied mount doesn't work with the round hitch on my Ram. I routed the air line up to the fuel door. Clean install and less chance of damage.

A suggestion for the manufacturer: Don't apply thread lock to the fasteners or air fittings. The thread lock on the upper bracket bolts created such an interference that I couldn't secure the bolt without breaking 1 of my 6mm Hex bit sockets. Also, thread sealant on the air fittings makes it extremely difficult to turn the fittings in the tight space. It would be better to supply a small tube of liquid thread lock and a small tube of liquid thread sealant in the kit.

Installed on my 2020 Ram 1500 4x4 ecodiesel. Took about 1 hour. Jacked up rear of vehicle to let coil spread out a little. Bags went in easy. Air lines were simple to run. Bought the union T-valve so I could air the bags up at same time and to make sure equal PSI goes to each bag.

Comments
They still working great. Only minor issue is the line that threads onto bags do come lose and cause air leakage. Recommend locktite to solve the issue.

Review from a similar Coil-Rite in Vehicle Suspension

Installed on my '08 Acura MDX, very tight fit, it would work perfectly if air didn't leak out of the connection at the bottom of the bag.
It was a very lengthy install process for me, about 6hrs due to a stuck rear strut bolt that required drilling out. Also, needed an additional person to re-install the coil while holding down the lower control arm and squeezing the coil back into position.
The air leak is easily identified where the air line connects into the bottom of the airbag. I've re-cut the airline multiple times to ensure a perfectly flat end of the tube, and re-connected it. Even had a mechanic check the system, but there's still a slow leak at the connection into the bag.
These airbags seem very sturdy, but this is starting to make me second guess the quality, it seems like that connection is a clear weak point/design flaw.

No issue at all with these. Keep them with at least 10-15psi at all times and lift it up to 30psi only when fully loaded or hauling. Initially, the blue fill tube seemed too long but worked out great to get it laced underneath the exhaust heat shield. Some have put the fill valves on the inside. However, I found it easier to use a standard bike pump on the exterior. And made it symetrical :)
I would had have recommended it to several others who have simular needs.

I can only give this 3 stars because one of the bags only holds air for about 1-2 days. The other bag stays filled for months. When they are both filled it gives my Pathfinder about 1" of extra lift while towing our travel trailer. So, the trip to the campground is fine but then I have to find an air pump for the trip home or tow with it lower. If they would both stay filled I would give them a 5 star rating. I contacted etrailer support and was told that I had to contact Firestone for warranty support. I have emailed (can't find a phone number on their web site) them twice with no reply.

They functioned exactly as advertised. Very strong and durable. So strong are they that they didn’t even burst or puncture in a roll over crash. One of the spring that contained a spring assist bag was knocked out of the truck and it still did not rupture.

Highly recommend this product.

They work great. First I added a levelling kit then the Firestone ride rite for when I tow my boat. Really notice the difference when towing.

With fully loaded tongue weight, rear suspension dropped .75 inches, added 10psi to the bags and brought it back up .5 inches.

Review from a similar Coil-Rite in Vehicle Suspension

Installed on a 2016 4Runner in conjunction with a 1-1/2" Daystar coil spring spacer. Since the coil spacer is hollow, I left one segment of the factory bump stop in place to compensate for and match the height of the spacer. I also added a Firestone T-fitting on the airline for a single inflation point and located the inflation valve next to my trailer plug wiring. Quite a pain to wrestle the coil back in place with the added height of the spacer, but that is no fault of the airbags; pry bar proved critical to wedge the coil back in place since I did not try the bottle jack between the frame and axle trick. After nearly a year, no leaks, bags hold air well. I put 25 psi in them for towing our travel trailer, or keep them at 10 psi for normal running around. I have also found them useful to prevent or at least reduce bottoming out the soft rear suspension that happens when off road driving with even just a couple hundred pounds in the back. Even at 25 psi they ride great and you wouldn't know they are back there at 10 psi. Highly recommend for the low cost and added versatility!

Comments
Still working great after a year. Knock on wood... no leaks to date. I would consider these essential equipment for towing, and would highly recommend for heavily loaded backcountry travels as well. I did try them near their max pressure on one trip with 5 people, roof top tent, and gear for a week of camping this summer and it was too much and felt very unsafe ped the pressure back to sub-30 psi after driving a few blocks and all was great after that!

Install was not easy, would recommend just removing the coil spring vs struggling trying to shove the bag between coils. I struggled for about half a day before I was finally able to get both sides in. After installation, one side was leaking from the crimped connection between the air line and the brass fitting on the air bag side. This is not something that can be repaired. etrailer wouldn't help because of the time since my order (took me outside of their 60 day return period to install the bags) although reading their policies, they only allow returns of unissued items anyway so not sure if they would have helped anyway. Trying to work directly with Firestone to get a new air line so we'll see what happens.

They want a review 12 hours after delivery :-(
On a 40 degree day I had to drop the shocks and swapbar connections and then jack down the axle housing and remove the springs and drop the bags in from the top. The bags are just to solid, even after warming them up inside the house, to go thru the side of the spring. It doesn't take all that much longer to remove the springs. You just have to be aware of more ways that hoses, cables, and such could be hurt.
The ride is stiffer, even at 5# of air. Measuring rearend sag they should be able to deal with the load my trailer tongue when aired up to 60#
I would have waited and done a better review but they couldn't wait to bug me for comments

Install was easy on 2014 FJ Cruiser...pulled the wheels off, jacked it up a bit, and the axle dropped enough to allow room to fit the bags inside the springs. I will see how they perform when I hook up my trailer but they inflate quickly and I can see these will stop my vehicle from squatting when the cargo area and trailer are heavily loaded. Another excellent product offered by etrailer...thanks.

The gabs arrived with a leak in one and it took over 12 months to get a replacement from Firestone .. which also leaked. eTrailer was no help in resolving the problem - they just redirected me to Firestone and the unmotivated and poorly organized staff there. If yo buy these, get them at [online]- that company stands behind the product they sell.

Comments
It is very unusual to have two air bags that would be defective from Firestone. Typically what can happen is the air line hose is not cleanly cut or is cut at an angle which can cause leaks over time. I recommend checking the hose and using a hose cutter like part # AL10530 to ensure clean cuts. I also advise using the soapy water method to locate any leaks. You can just spray soapy water on the air hose lines and see see if any bubbles form. If they do then you will know where the leak is coming from.

Installation was every bit as difficult as other reviews say. I removed the plastic covering the springs, used lubrication, and nearly gave up many times. But in the end, I got them both in place. The only problem I have had have been leaks in the hose caused by my placement. Both times I removed the punctured areas and replaced it with new hose.
As far as function, I have been very happy towing a 1900 lb trailer with my 2012 Toyota RAV4. The air help springs keep the tongue level high enough without sacrificing ride quality.
Overall, I am very happy. I wish they were easier to install!

Review from a similar Coil-Rite in Vehicle Suspension

After installation we are towing on the level and enjoying the ride. In an effort to maintain the minimum air pressure to each Coil-Rite Helper at all times, we installed individual air supplies to each Helper. We used our onboard Horn-Blaster air compressor to supply two air pressure regulators allowing us to easily change air pressure to each individual helper as desired. Each regulator employs a check-valve to maintain pressure to the Helpers in case of a compressor failure. We have marked each pressure gauge to the minimum pressure and another mark for our desired towing pressure.

Best $xx.xx I’ve yet spent on trailer towing. They are so great for leveling off vehicle when towing. And they adjust easily for different trailers/tongue weights. Make a “load” of difference and way cheaper / easier than a weight distribution hitch. I installed these myself on a 4Runner, in my garage with two jack stands and a floor jack. Video was great and everything went just as shown in the video. Only difference was that my vehicle has KDSS suspension. Need to tie kdss rod cylinders with zip ties to hold same length when bottom bolts disconnected. Keeps it from needing rebalancing.
