Installed this in my 2015 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sport. I thought that I would add some input on installation that would help others. I found a way to route the power distribution wires in the frame of the Jeep that did not require the use of a fish tape. If you look at the frame just behind the rear tire you will see a hole in the face of the frame. Start pushing the wire bundle foreword. It will rise up and over the U shaped frame portion of the rear axle and then down along the passenger compartment area. About there, you will be running out of pushing stiffness. Look for the wire bundle to appear at a similar hole in the frame in that area. Grab it a and pull out approximately 4 feet and then push it right back in the same hole going foreword. This time you will look for the wire bundle to appear at again a similar hole just foreword of the driver compartment. Now is the time to grab it and start heading up to the engine compartment outside the frame. Do the same procedure for the wire going aft for the plug end of the installation. For the wires going through the firewall, Jeep has conveniently added a nice foam lined hole to route wires through. You will see this hole position in the attached photo with a green wire coming through. The plastic cover around the steering column pulls down from the top and hinges at the bottom. Remove the metal plate with two bolts to get to the brake switch. Twist and pull the brake switch out foreword and go for the brown stripped wire as your brake circuit. Do order the LONG frame bracket adapter for the switch plug at the rear. To drill the steel for the supplied plug bracket just takes too long. Now that you have it installed you will notice that the power will remain on the unit after you turn the key off. Don't sweat this as it will not stay on long. I doubt a few milliamps draw is going to kill your battery! 231113

Working great would recommend to all.

I installed this model 90885 Prodigy P2 Brake Controller using the ETBC7 Brake Controller Wiring Kit on my 2007 Dodge Nitro. On a scale of 1 to 10, I consider myself about an 8 where it comes to automotive mechanical and electrical work. I also strive to get as close to perfection as possible. To do the job right, it did take some time and it did require paying close attention to the directions for both the wiring kit and the controller. However, the directions were "right on", and all the needed "goodies" to do the job were furnished. My hat is off to ETRAILER for the informative videos they provide and their customer service, which includes very quick shipments of their products. 122727

I didn’t have a good location that was reachable while driving so I mounted the controller on top of the dash. I leveled the bracket with a spacer and ran the harness by an access panel. I used about 70’ of the duplex wire due to running the cable to front and then back to the house batteries inside the coach. The access panel made it easy to make the connections and run the wires through the firewall. I mounted the 40 AMP and 30 AMP circuit breakers up front in the main fuse panel box. I drilled a hole through the box and firewall to run the wires from the brake controller to the breaker and to the blue wire for the tow connection at the back of the coach. I ran the battery connections to my house batteries up front instead of using the engine batteries in the back. I found the brake connection wire under the coach in front directly below the brake pedal. I mounted the converter in a beam in the back with lots of zip ties 9444

For ford ranger 2010 and perhaps other years:Be aware that the video contains the wrong instruction for the 2010 ranger. In wiring the brake light wire, the switch shown being tapped into gives reverse braking sensing, that is, it is 12 when the brake is not applied, but 0v when it is. I found elsewhere that the correct wire is the 2nd connection on the 5 pin plug that rides on the brake itself. This is no comment on the original video, which was excellent, and referred to the 2011 ranger model.

Wire colors can and do change often. We offer the colors that we find in our videos as a starting point, but even if you have a 2011, it is best to double check and make sure to positively identify the wire color first.

The online video showing the installation of the Prodigy P2 trailer brake control into a 2011 Ford Ranger was excellent! It made the installation into my Ranger simple and straight forth. I have yet to hook up to my travel Trailer and adjust it for brake setting, but all readout displays thus far are as stated in the instructions. Having previously installed the trailer connector, I did not purchase the installation kit and in retrospect for cost effective and simplicity would recommend anyone to purchase the kit along with the controller. I believe I am going to be very pleased with this product. Thank you 188777

very nice controller, very smooth and you don't have to mount it flat!! e trailer is the best company i ever worked with. they have pics, video, email support(exellent) and just flat out make it easy for you to do it yourself instead of paying some dirt bag $300 to install at your local trailer shop. i also installed kit #ETBC7 and once agian it was awesome. COMPLETE with DETAILED directions. i'm not a mechanic or hack employee at local trailer shop....BUT dealing with etrailer and there parts made my install very easy and CLEAN!!! 117534

Your products are awesome. Ive had zero issues with it and 5 of my friends purchased and installed the same set up in there trucks. Thanks again for the great products and excellent support.

So I purchased a Tekonsha p2 brake control recently after hearing good reviews from friends. After a few weeks of having it installed I have a few gripes: 1. Display - The LED display is super bright and there is no way to turn down the brightness. It is really distracting to have a flashing bright blue light shining up at you at while driving at night. If you are the kind of person who is bothered by a GPS/Phone screens while driving at night then this this will bother you. 2. Wiring - Tekonsha's wiring instructions tell you to wire the brake controller directly to the battery. If you do this the brake controller runs 24/7/365 even when the vehicle is shut off. Do you really want a constant drain on your battery? Instead I chose to use a relay to turn the brake controller on and off with the ignition. It would have been nice if there was a relay included or at least optional wiring instructions. 3. No Off Switch - My previous gripes wouldn't be that big of a deal if you could just manually turn off the brake controller when not in use. But for some asinine reason there is no off switch. So if you don't want the brake controller draining the battery of your parked tow rig, or are tired of the blue light blinding you at night you will have to climb under your dash, remove the brake controller from it's holster and then disconnect the wiring harness... 30936

There is an automatic shut-off built in to the controller. After a period of time, it will shut down on its own. It will not drain the vehicle battery if wired according to the instructions. Also, try the bracket instead of the holster. With the bracket, you can rotate the controller so the display is not directly aimed at the driver when not used.

David, Thanks for the comment on the blue LED. I am sensitive to the Blue. My eyes no longer can quickly adjust to differing light intensities. I can see in the picture how the blue affect the camera. So I will not buy this one. My old Tekonsha had RED LEDs. I should have kept it. Red is PERFECT for night vision. Red does not interfere with night vision. Thats why its widely use for night time illumination.Blue, absolutely not. Disappointing.

This is the second one I purchased. The first was 10 years ago and installed in my 06 GMC. It has worked flawlessly allowing for safe and smooth stops from normal braking to a few of the panic stops that had to made over the years. The new owner of the truck likes the way it works too. I have multiple trailers and with one initial setup on the lightest trailer was able to tow all of them without changing anything but the boost setting to compensate for the different trailer weights. When needing for a controller for my 07 Silverado there was no other unit that would fill the bill. This P2 looks the same except for the blue display instead of the red. The install took 20 minutes using the direct fit cable ordered with the controller. Setup was easy as with the first unit. I wanted the placement above the parking brake pedal so the OBD II connecter had to be moved. I did the same with the 06 GMC. It is a comfortable place to reach and it keeps the light away from the passenger's eyes at night. As good as the Tekonsha controller is it is even a sweeter deal buying it from etrailer. The quick shipping, excellent pricing and knowledgeable staff are second to none in customer service. 239604

I installed the brake controller a week or two ago in my 2013 GMC Sierra 1500. I had one just like it in an older Duramax that the previous owner installed--I went with the same product. I had the chance to use it this afternoon to pull a few tons of #57 stone. Trailer plus load I figure about 6000 pounds behind the truck. Pictures are attached. This is the first 1/2 ton truck I've owned in nearly 10 years and worries how it would do with heavier loads. This controller made a world of difference and really maximized the use of my truck. Great product and I highly recommend it to anyone needing a good controller. 137307

Seems to work real well but, I can't really judge to much for My trailer's breaks haven't been used for years. Installation was quick. It took about 15-20mins without my trip to the hardware store for an 8mm nut. Tried it out on my trailer and once you get the adjustment right, it works real well. Definitely worth getting a break controller for whatever trailer you tow and this one is real nice. 77404

Ive owned this for about a year now and have gotten the kinks out of my campers breaks. They seam to work real well with it. I seem to be able to break without the nerve-racking stress I had with the old truck. Proportionality control also is handy going down long hills or in heavy traffic. most of the time I have it in Normal mode dialed to the instructions in the manual. I would Highly recommend those without a break controller get one and this one is, so far, excellent.

I installed this in a 2006 WK Jeep in about two hours. I used the generic pigtail because I didn't have/couldn't find a vehicle specific connector. There are more specific instructions for wiring it online, be a little creative with your search. I was able to find the same sheet as the generic one packaged with the controller, just specific to a 2005-2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The install took me about two hours, working by myself, and was relatively straightforward. Much of the time was taken up by making the install of wire runs neat and preserving the "factory look," if you are not particular about appearance, the install could go much more quickly. This was my first time installing a brake controller. I haven't had a chance to hook it up to a trailer yet, but it seems to be functioning properly. I am a little concerned that the ground wire on the supplied pigtail is a small gauge, 14, so if I encounter any issues I will switch this out with a larger gauge wire. I also noted that the factory wiring harness supplied by the Jeep dealer for the hitch has a 14 gauge brake wire. While this should be sufficient for up to two axles, if I notice any issues, I will replace this wire also with a heavier gauge. The generic pigtail contained a 12 gauge wire for the brake line. All around, so far very pleased with this purchase. 72226

This is the second one of these I own. I was moving the first one around in three trucks. So now I should be swapping less. Extra mounting brackets make that pretty easy. I was worried that because it's inertia based it wouldn't work very well but most of the time it's pretty invisible. If you're using the same trailer and similar loads it's great. If you're swapping trailers and changing weights you'll be fiddling with it. It's not a Max Brake but it's not a Max Brake price either, and Max Brake is unavailable anyway. Since it doesn't know how hard your stepping on the brakes it does it's best to guess. So for 90 percent of your driving it's perfect. Off road every dip and rut it's jabbing on the brakes if your foot is touching the brake pedal. Haven't had it in ice yet. I think i'll use my Max Brake for that. Wish it could tell me the amperage to the brakes so I'd know if a magnetic failed (Max Brake), wish it would dim at night (pretty much every consumer electronic), wish I didn't have to unplug it with an empty car dolly (like every controller except for Max Brake). A note about the "boost" function. It basically starts at either 0 (no boost), 2volts (setting 1), 4volts (setting 2) and so on. To help with heavier loads. So do I recommend it? I'll buy another one, do I miss a real proportional controller? Yea... 422122

Chris D thanks for your feedback on your recent brake controller purchase. The Prodigy P2 brake controller is considered a proportional style brake controller when compared to a time delay brake controller. This controller activates based on the inertia sensor in the controller that sends the braking signal to the trailer based the vehicle deceleration, or how severe the vehicle is nose diving. Therefore the brakes on the trailer are applied in proportion to how the inertia sensor calculates the deceleration of the vehicle. For your next brake controller purchase you may want to consider the Prodigy P3 90195. This controller uses similar inertia detection as the P2, but also has a more detailed display that will allow for additional diagnosis of issues. It also offers a preset option that will allow you to program the controller based on the trailerload that is frequently towed. The display also offers more customizable features vs. the standard display for the P2.

Product came with great online video on how to install on my Chevy Avalanche. 4 wires under dash and 1 under hood. All connectors required came with the product. It has great electronics that tell you if the trailer is hooked up and how much braking you are using. Easily to adjust. Can take it out by removing one plug when not pulling trailer. Only thing missing was instructions stating that the unit turns off after 15 mins after ignition is turned off. I was worried about battery drain. Not to worry. Called tech support and they answered this question. Pulling a single axle trailer with varying load weights from 1000-2000 lbs. good instructions on how to adjust after install. Wish everyone selling on the web was this thorough. These guys have done their work. 147507

I ordered item 3026-P to connect a 2013 Chevy Traverse with a Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Brake Controller. My Traverse has the factory installed Tow Package (V92), so the harness plug is already populated and ready to plug into the 3026-P. The pre-wired harness fit perfectly to my 2013 Traverse. After hunting for the factory plug hidden under the dash, the harness installed easily and locked into place. There is plenty of slack to route where desired on either side of the steering column. I chose the left side for a more flush bracket install against the plastic under-dash cover. The harness installed perfectly into the Prodigy P2. The unit instantly powered up and appeared nominal in operation. I look forward to using the combination of these 2 items to safely haul around a travel trailer in the near future, which is why I preinstalled these. One thing to keep in mind is that there is live voltage on the black wire when the harness is mated to the vehicle plug, so if you install the harness but remove the Brake Controller (when not used or used between 2 vehicles), be sure to cover the open harness end with a rubber cap or electrical tape, to keep from shorting it to any ground point. Great product, excellent pricing, and easy to find for my specific configuration! 387670

The Tekonsha Prodigy P2 brake controller is a great product. This is my second one to own. Shipping was prompt and installation was easy. One thing I really like about is the installation videos. It helps me decide if I can do it myself or not. However I did find one small error video demonstrating the installation of the Prodigy brake controller in the 2012 Silverado pickup. When hooking up the power to the controller under the hood the video states that you need a 10mm 1.25 pitch nut to go on the stud. It is easy to find. I found one at Home Depot. The only problem is it actually takes an 8mm 1.25 pitch nut. This caused only a slight delay in the installation and another trip to get the correct nut. Overall I’m very satisfied product, the service, and the price. …and I really do like the video instructions. 44810

Really like the brake controller. Pulled my daughter/ son-in-laws trailer to their seasonal sight with boost off with no problems. My trailer weighs 2500 pounds more and getting good operation at boost1 setting. A snap to adjust. E-mailed a some questions when I first started looking and Nicole answered the same day with a couple questions for me. After I responded she sent her recommendations a few hours later with a link to an installation video. Terrific service. Kind of stumbled on your site looking for something else, sure glad I did. Looking at towing mirrors for Suburban and a hitch for the other car next. 130280

The pictures and videos on your site gave me the confidence to try this myself. I even improved upon the install showed on the website. The install took me less than 15 minutes, and by removing the small pocket " drawer" in the dash, a very low profile and smooth look was retained. My local post office was undermanned and late with the product and customer service was excellent in helping me track it down. I saved over $160 compared to what local retail establishments were quoting me... excellent job all around. Thanks for exceeding all of my expectations. 391770

2013 Chrysler Town and country White wire with green stripe worked for cold side of brake switch. When you cut a hole in the boot, to pass the wire from the engine compartment through the fire wall, make it at the 2 oclock position when looking from the front of the engine. this makes it easier to pass the wires. Check the free led circuit tester prior to use. Some don't work. Use a piece of aluminum angle stock to mount the circuit breakers. Mount the aluminum to a 10MM fender bolt next to the fuse box. This way you don't need to drill holes. Was a good kit with good components. 83238

Has been working fine without issues. Adjust it once and it stays put.

Purchased this unit to go along with my install kit on my 2012 Odyssey. Wanted something small and versatile and this fit the bill. Easy to install, the video helped, but I chose to remove the coin pocket and modify it to fit the controller. All I had to do was remove some of the extra plastic and voila!, the controller slid right in. Now I can remove the controller and still use the pocket when not towing. When I need it, I just pull out the pocket, and hook in the unit. I've included some pics, super easy to modify, takes 10min. 419272

This was exactly what I needed for my 2005 Tacoma for towing. I pulled a 29' camper trailer 300 mi. with it shortly after installing. With the proper hitch setup and this brake controller, it turned what could have been a white knuckle nightmare into a pleasureable trip. I purchased this with the proper wiring plug-in adapter which made it extremely easy to install in less than 20 min. The only thing I don't like about it is how intensely bright the blue LED lights are at night when I'm not towing anything. Of course its fairly easy to unplug and remove when not in use though, but that does get old. I wish it just had an on/off switch or something. I was initially concerned that the lights would put a drain on my battery as they do stay illuminated after turning off the truck, but I found it's only for a few minutes then they turn off. Overall, I would recommend this controller, and I would buy one again based off the last 9 months of use. 64563

My 2005 tacoma has the factory installed 7 pin plug, did yours? Im about to pull a 26 trailer at about 4500 lbs. Has the Tacoma performed well since your original post?

The adjustments are easy to do, instructions are spot on for a first time user. This is a inertia switch, so level and straight are your only options. My Ram 1500 has only one location for it, ..on the dash. As for ease of use, its so easy to install! If you can change a battery you can do this. The brake factory connection is tucked with two others one foot left of the steering column. You remove two 7mm screws at the bottom panel. ( its the one your chins touch while driving) pull from the bottom out and up and it pops off to be set on the floor. The Ram has up to 3 connectors depending on your options. Only one is the same size. Plug in the controller, drop wires down by your keys, plug into truck, snap panel back. Mouting above the drivers vent is straight forward. I maked two goles screwed in the two screws! A tip after there screwed down, remove both screws and grind off the tips about a 1/16 -1/8 this will alow clearance for the vent to move both ways. Ok im done, its that easy, really! Place your order today, and dony forget the easy prewired loom!! 430054

The Prodigy P2 is as easy to install in my 2011 Chevy Silverado as any brake controller I have used. This is a direct wire install with now extra wiring harness used. It took me about an hour in 90 degree heat under the maple tree. I had to buy a fuse and nuts for two studs under the hood of the Chevy. Total cost was $6.49 for the extra parts needed. 89676

I just completed a 4400 mile trip to the western states of the US. I was towing a 6 by 12 cargo trailer with electric brakes. My Prodigy Brake Controller worked flawlessly the entire trip. I recommend this product.

I ordered this unit along with the vehicle specific interface adapter, 4 pole to 7 pole trailer connector. I had my own 10ga wire and split loom to run from the back of the truck to the front. Took some time but got the job done. I suggest that you go ahead and spring for the 10-2-1 duplex wire that etrailer has available so you don't don't have to take the time to feed the two single conductors thru the loom (I strongly suggest using the loom if you do this yourself). Once connected and powered up it took all of 5 minutes to setup. I ordered the Tekonsha P2 along with all the necessary equipment to "turn key" the project along with an oil cooler on a Friday night. Saturday morning I was notified that the order was already packaged and ready to ship along with my 5 business day shipping being upgraded to 3 business day shipping. As stated my order arrived the following Wednesday. Now that's customer service. Packaging was great. Thank you etrailer. I will order from you again and I am recommending you to everyone I know. 98844

This is my first brake controller so that fact may disqualify me as a reviewer; but then maybe it makes me a better one! I usually do a lot of research before buying something I need that I know little or nothing about, but that was a quick task in this case. EVERY forum, expert review, and installer recommendation had the same two pieces of advice: Buy proportional versus time delay, and buy Tekonsha. Beyond that, it was either buy the Prodigy P2 if you don't need an LCD display or the P3 if you do. I didn't need the LCD display because I'll only be hauling one trailer with the same drag car on it, so now that I have the controller installed and adjusted I don't expect to have to mess with it any more. Installation was easy peasy with the adapter cable for my '10 Tacoma, mounted under the lower dash just beneath the steering column. I did add two slightly beefier sheet metal screws to the dash mount as the two screws provided seemed a little weak. Solid product, works great, took all of 15 minutes to adjust. 44806

I purchased the P2 along with cable for my F150. Installation was very easy. The instructions were clear with excellent drawings. I then connected my trailer to test the controller. All the functions work correctly. My next step is to drive the trailer as the instructions indicate to fine tune the boost level. Once I have done this, I will update my review. The instruction card is made of light card board and is designed to be carried in your truck for quick reference. Instructions for using the controller are clear, concise and easy to follow. I contacted customer service prior to placing my order as I was unsure if I needed the P2 or the P3. The sales rep was very knowledgeable and quickly determined after a few questions that I needed the P2. There are other, less expensive controllers to choose from, but if you read the reviews, they are not as well made as the Tekonsha is. I highly recommend spending a bit more for a product that will last and provide excellent service. 166000

Ordered the controller with a wiring harness for a 2012 Nissan Titan with the factory tow package. Quite simply Plug-n-Play. Located the factory harness connector inside the dash to the left of the steering wheel behind the lower trim panel (two phillips screws and pull straight out), Plug in the harness, mount the controller, plug it in and ready to go! If you know where you want to mount it, the install is 15 minutes max! is great, shipping was quick, packaging was great and the order was correct. The quality of the products was excellent. 48102

Application: 2004 Chevy Tahoe LT / Pulling RV Camper My first ever review of anything purchased online and I figured this one really had merit to deserve the extra attention in giving credit where it's due.. Easy and efficient online ordering processes, excellent customer service and the follow-up email after the sale and delivery of the product was the icing on the cake! You guys' have really got it together over there and I'll be ordering from you again very soon! Thoroughly impressed with the quality and extra-nice features of the unit! Perfect fit installed just as quick and easy as the product's description and related installation videos have shown. Works much more smoothly and predictably than the old Kelsey-Hayes slam-bam brake modules I've used in the past. Especially love the progressive braking feature too! Thanks again for the outstanding customer service and superb product quality! "I'll Be Back!" 144029

I chose this controller after doing days of research online and in talks with friends who have trailering experience. The balance between cost and performance seems to be reached perfectly in the Prodigy 2. It was easy to install thanks to the video provides on its website. I ordered it about 7PM and immediately got an email confirmation. About 1/2 hour later I got a second email telling me the item had shipped and that I had been upgraded to Express Shipping at no extra charge. Two days later I came home from work to find that the controller had been delivered and I had it installed before my wife came home from work. It took me no more than thirty minutes with the hardest part being locating the almost-hidden connector under the dash of my 2005 Toyota Sequoia. Worked perfectly the first time, and the instructions were very clear on how to set it up to work best with my trailer. Highly recommended. 30700

Used in conjunction with harness kit for my 2002 tundra, this year has no provisions for towing trailer with electric brakes. The controler itself has proven itself nicely, with no issues with installation or use, adjust easily. The mounting location I chose may have some slight interference issues with legs on taller people, but I have not had any @ 5'11". The truck is a midsized so room is more limited. I'm towing a tandem 14' trialer with 4 seat RZR, tracking and stopping is perfect, even under hard breaking. 398903

I purchased and installed this brake control for my 2006 Chevy 2500HD. I have installed the Prodigy P2 controller in previously owned vehicles and am very satisfied with the performance. The shipping from etrailer was super fast and the communication was great. Etrailer is a great company to deal with. 454536

Arrived on time and works exactly as described. I installed this on a 2007 Landcruiser. The most difficult part was finding instructions on where to find the plug. After much research, I came across Ih8mud and got the instruction on where and how to connect. Rather than mounting it to the dash, I removed the ash tray and put it in that spot. It fits perfectly. 177372

Works great. Ive had no problems with it.

This was a replacement for a similar product from a manufacturer etrailer no longer carries. The previous product randomly turned on the brake lights on my 2010 Tundra while it was parked at night; they might stay on for some minutes then turn off. Tapping the controller unit turned them off at first, but then nothing worked except unplugging the unit. Then it totally crapped out. Contrast that with the Tekonsha P2 unit. No defective operation, easy installation, great display with clear diagnostic significance. I mounted the unit with Velcro strips( buy them at the fabric shop) super glued to the unit and the vinyl of the Tundra, on the left side by the left knee. Did I say really quick delivery and great communication from etrailer? You can't go wrong, and the online communication and discussion is worth a lot. The unit also makes the trailer brakes work, like it should. Recommended 26429

Great Brake Controller, used it with the Universal Install Kit for Brake Controllers and No-Drill Mount Bracket, Short - 18140. It only took me 2.5hrs to have it fully installed in my Jeep Wrangler Unlimited 2013. Videos were great. Also having some 1/4in water tubing helped for phishing wire thru frame. Wish I had watched the video a couple of times before buying and also purchased the extra wire to go from the battery to the brake controller, but had extra wire from another project that worked. This brake controller works great as we tow a <3500lbs Travel Trailer with our Jeep. Comes with a great card that helps with settings, keep it in the glove box for future reference. 243826

I ordered the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 for my trailer. The product is excellent. It was a snap to install and the wiring installation was a breeze. The wires were color coordinated and by size as well. I would not hesitate to buy one again and will recommend it to all my friends. 92008

Only used it a couple of times since but, I love the way it controls my trailer and the simplicity of it is nice.

Very simple to install. It came with a 4 wire harness with a receptacle on one end to plug into the back of the unit. The ends of the wires were stripped and ready to attach to the wires already under my dash. It included 4 crimps to connect the wires. My truck had 4 wires and so did the unit. Directions were easy to figure out what wire got hooked to what wire. Usually every time I buy something like this it will have 40 wires and I have to figure out which ones to use. This could not have been easier. In fact the hardest part of the whole thing was trying to decide where I wanted to mount it. The wires are ling enough to reach halfway across the dash. If your truck is prewired this unit only takes about 5 minutes or less to install. I am goijng to use the unit tomorrow for the first time. With all of its features, I am sure it will be great. If not I will write back. 26165

I purchased a new 2017 Ram 1500 and was looking for a break controller. My son recommended the Tekonsha Prodigy 2 . I found it on at a better than expected price and ordered the controller and the wiring harness. I received the item in four days. It was a breeze to install. Truly plug -and-play ! Set up was a snap and I like not having to level the device every time , as with my previous controller ! I am very satisfied with my purchase and with ! 355928

Installed it in a 2008 Dodge Sprinter 3500 RV that already had a factory hitch and 7 pin wiring and connector installed, but only completely wired for 4 pin operation. It installed exactly the same as the etrailer installation video for a 2013 Mercedes Sprinter by connecting it up to the pre-wired OEM trailer brake connector found under the drivers seat The only change I made was to cut the OEM connector off and butt splice the wires because some were different gage wires and I didn't trust a 12ga wire connecting to a 14 or 16ga wire using 12ga splice lock connectors. It was so nice it had the OEM pre-wiring for trailer brakes! Haven't connected it to a trailer yet, but it tested out ok using a Tekonsha trailer emulator. Just note that you wont get full trailer emulation unless you have 12V hooked up to your 7 pin connector on your tow vehicle. 158700

Great Brake Controller This was my first time using a brake controller and installing one as well. The directions were easy to follow for both the install and setup. 2012 Ram 30416

where did that mounting bracket in this picture come from. Was it already on your 2012 Ram?

-- comment by: William E - 08/19/2013

The bracket was already on the Vehicle, its in between the light switch and the parking brake release lever where OEM controller would be if equipped , it requires a little modification to fit.

I purchased this controller for my VW Touareg pulling an Aliner camper. At the time, I wasn't sure I really needed the electric brakes for the camper, but they certainly have come in handy. eTrailer shipped the controller right away, and once I sorted out my issues with connecting it to the VW, it worked like a charm. The controls are simple, and adjusting the sensitivity is easy enough. My VW had trailer wiring, along with the brake wiring, but no easy way to connect a harness into the wiring. Tekonsha has a document that describes the VW parts required to connect the controller. In the document, it describes the use of a relay, which is apparently no longer required with the current P2 model. I can really tell a difference with the trailer brakes, and the controller does exactly what it is intended to do. I have no regrets with this purchase. 288807

I installed the brake controller in a 2005 F-150. Installation was easy using the factory harness that came with the truck. It was easy to set up and works great. It provides smooth stopping towing a 5,000lb travel trailer. I definitely recommend this anyone looking for a quality and easy to use brake controller. 138328

Product is performing flawlessly.

The Brake controller arrived promptly and worked as expected. If you are shopping for trailer accessories buy it here at etrailer. I found etrailer when I started searching for a brake controller for my truck. Their install video was one of the first search results when I searched out my vehicle which led me to their site which had all of the information you could want. Not only did they have install videos for my specific vehicle but for just about every vehicle application. When shopping on their website you are treated to install instructions as well as the video install instruction for your application as well as installation tips. Many reviewers also upload pictures of their installations giving you lots of ideas for your installation. A simple search lead me to etrailer the wealth of information convinced me to buy from them. 154471

I ordered the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Brake Controller along with a Draw-Tite Ball Mount, 2 5/16" Chrome Ball and Pin lock on a Sunday and it was delivered the following Friday. The Tekonsha Brake Controller came with a DVD and with aid of Video for installation instructions for 2011 Chevrolet Silverado (mine being 2010) on ETrailer site, I was able to have installation within 2 hours. Easy to follow instructions on where to find wiring on my vehicle under dash and hood assisted installation immensely. After installation and testing the Brake Controller with trailer attached everything worked as required. I was quite pleased with ease of installation for this not so handy novice. I have skimmed through Etrailer's site for other accessories for truck and trailer and other products have interested me. Thanks ETrailer for your products!! 34780

I bought this for my 04 F-250. I also bought the plug-in adapter for it. Installation was a breeze and the service from e-trailer was awesome. I ordered my parts on a Sunday... they shipped that day and were on my front porch Wednesday when I got home from work. I will be ordering again from e-trailer for sure! 122965

Still works perfect!

I rated it as high-good because I haven't installed it yet, but I have convidence it will work well and should rate an "excellent". The product and installation parts/instructions look to be first class. It will be installed on a Dodge Dakota used to tow a Casita RV trailer. I bought this on advice of several other RV owners that all agreed that it is the best you can get. It will be replacing a time delay type controller that frankly I just cannot stand. The fact that it has an inertia sensor that is not a pendulum is the #1 reason I chose the Prodigy over others. According to the instructions, it does not have to be mounted level and internally self adjusts for tilt while going up and down hills. I find that to be fantastic and can hardly wait to try it out later this summer on a trip across the Rocky Mountains. 13904
