Met my expectations
Thanks for the follow up. We just bought a Look 6' x 12' cargo trailer that only had the in-door lock on the side door. Of course we wanted to beef that up and in searching found your site. After reading the reviews we ordered the #305736 36" side door bar lock assembly on 1/20 and received it 1/22. Great! We installed it the next day in about an hour. It went on with minimal effort (drilling the holes was the worst) and looks as if it came on the trailer. We did install the hinge side over the door trim and used backer plywood inside with oversized washers and locking washers. We did the same for the door bracket. The pictures on your site from customers helped us, so we have attached a couple of our own. Thanks e-trailer! The Wheelers
The W - 01/29/2015I just attached the 36" latch bar. it only took about 30 minutes. Took longer to make sure it was positioned right and not to impede on the rv latch. I included a small bracket on the door as well. Latch hardware seems better the originals on back. 5/16" carriage bolts are needed. I used 2 1/2" then cut off anything past the nut. Pictures included.

Les S - 08/31/2016Product was great and in stock. I ordered this on Friday and it was not going to ship until the following Wednesday with a planned Saturday delivery. I called on Monday to ask why it would take 5 days to get it off the shelf and out the door for shipping. The Customer Service person was not very informative and basically said it was what it was. However, after my call they ended up shipping on Monday and I received on Wednesday. So all ended well but I didn't understand the need for drama. If it is going to take 4-5 days to get shipping started, then state that in the order so customer sets the correct expectations.
In the end, I'm happy with the product - I'd buy again, but I think I would call it in the next time rather than ordering through my account.
Received the item very quickly for having chosen the "economy" shipping. Installed on 2015 Haulmark Transport side door for additional security, used in conjunction with a puck lock. Install was easy with the help of the reviews from this site, particularly the one from Michael K. I attached mine in the same manner as Michael, on top of the aluminum trim and butted up against the lip. I believe it would be just as functional and still secure through a vertical post if secured at the edge of the aluminum trim, however there seems to be better door engagement with it on top of the trim. I've attached a close-up of the mounting, as the description in other reviews is lacking in clarity. The door is rather flimsy on the this model of trailer, as I'm sure is the same with most trailers, so some backing will be required inside the door for the mounting hardware to distribute the load. I used a 1/8"x2" strap steel that I found at the local hardware store. Very satisfied with the end result, quality product at a great price.
We recieved our door-bar on Thursday Evening, and Friday I installed it in about an hour. I purchased $7.50 worth of carriage bolts & washers & ny-lock nut. 2.5 carriage bolt for the 36" rod hinge & 2" for the door. Our older Aluma trailer door lock with the "rod & lever" closure was not keeping the door completely closed plus the keys are obsolete and needed a new key.
With this set up my doors stay sealed to keep out dirt & dust and I can use any heavy duty lock. (Lock upgrade purchase soon) Thanks for fast delivery service too. Odered on Monday & recieved on Thursday!
Plus we love our 1.25 receiver hitch for our VW Jettawagen which we use to haul our bicycles! (purchased in October). We Paid $75 to have it professionally installed but saved $100 on the hitch.

Pretty nice product. Appears to be made in the USA by Polar. One of the welds is what I would call sub par, but the rest look OK. Easy install on my cargo trailer's side door. Takes 5/16" carriage bolts.
My trailer didn't come with one so I was always worried about the side door coming open. Not anymore!! This item is perfect for what I needed, easy install too. A LOT cheaper price then expected! Arrived sooner then was told.

Installed easily with carriage bolts purchased from Ace. Had to bend the handles on a bench vice but that's not a problem with the product just the application of where it is on my trailer.Product works awesome.
These things are bulletproof. I use my trailer 6 days a week and open it about 20 times a day. These latches have worked perfectly. I highly recommend them. Easy to install too
Trailer I bought didn't have it and I wanted it. Only regret is you don't have mounting hard for it. I'll get it local.
KENNETH A - 12/08/2022Holds door securely shut. I added a custom bracket to stabilize the side of this homemade box, by using the back door as a shear wall. See special bracket just below top hinge, under rod. The right wall cannot vibrate when driving, or be pushed out by contents inside.
Prompt shipment, Quality product, insufficient dimensional detail to determine the designed relationship between the hinge mounting surface plane and the door surface plane when door is in the closed position. Had to buy the product in order to determine the applicability. Was able to adapt after determining the required shim thickness.see attached pix.

Works Great! Had to modify the mounting holes a bit, nothing I couldn't handle. Would be nice to have a bolt hole to bolt hole drawing on the website, along with the total length.
Great product great service. The item shipped within 2 hours of ordering. Almost an exact fit had to enlarge the two lower holes about 1/8” of an inch to get the bolts to line up other than that perfect.
Overall a good product. I installed it over an RV style door on my enclosed trailer.
Cheap stamping of the latch itself and lack of quality control leaves me needing to dremel out the opening to correct the alignment of the hole so that a puck style lock can be used. A little disappointed here...
Great quality, and a fair price. Shipping is always a detriment these days. Still, it's exactly what I've been needing to secure my instruments. Clearly Etrailer, is seeking repeat customers with there heads up on back orders, and follow up E-mail.

Great products and fast shipping
Product came very quickly. I had two barn doors on a dump trailer that I wanted more support for closing, so I used this instead of a clasp. There is pressure pushing out from inside, and this keeps it solidly closed. Also having the long handle gives a little more leverage to push up and allow it to open with the pressure against it. I would definitely recommend this product to someone looking for a longer, more secure door latch.
The service we received was excellent. Our Bar Locks arrived much faster than expected and were exactly as described. They were installed easily and a perfect fit. The only problem is now the shiny new bars don't match the rest of the rusty trailer.
Everything about the transaction was great!! But when the package arrived the UPS driver wanted to make sure everything was there that I ordered. The box was a lot bigger than needed and the whole end was broken open to the place I could pull my parts out through it without using a knife. If there had been any smaller parts in the box they would have been gone. Just thought I’d let you know. But everything was there. Thank you!!
I purchased this enclosed trailer lock system to use on my tool storage shed after being broken into. This thing is great. It has secured my shed and the way it mounts, they'd have to tear the shed down in order to get into it. The parts arrived on time, they were complete and I've been using it for a year. I live in rainy country and there are no signs of rust or aging at all. Great part and great value.

Changed a front dropdown hybrid camper tent door from screw clamps to these normal door latches for better sealing.
Not quite as heavy metal as older latches, but adequate for task and thick enough to weld. Robot welding is beautiful, some spatter berries to remove. Plastic cover plugs on ends were distorted damaged and ugly so I tossed those. Overall good rpoduct and worked well for intended purpose. Good price for the quality received.

Jenny N - 12/30/2021The quality and the value of the product was great. I would have given a n excellent if the hinge holes had lined up with my existing holes. They were off by about 3/8 of an inch resulting in having to move the bar slightly to the right in order to drill new holes in the trailer. A measurement in your description that shows the distance from the top, lower hinge hole to the bottom, upper hinge hole would have prepared me for drilling new holes in the trailer and knowing the bar was going to have to be slightly crooked. Hope it holds up to the test. Thanks for rushing my order through...service was great!
No issues with the product. I did however weld a piece of metal over the latch so thieves can't break it and gain entry, as well as rounded off bolts with a double nut on the interior. I also purchased a big box lock that goes with a solid pin. Without that it only takes a good pry to pop the latch and break in. etrailer has been great to do business with
I did get what I've ordered and it came fast..within 2 days.
Product was everything I expected it to be. However, I did not expect so much difficulty in locating the specialized nuts and bolts so I could make a "flush-on-the-inside" installation of the "lock side-door bar lock assembly". They are hard to come by.
Exact fit replacement which was easy to install. The detailed measurements provided on the etrailer web page made me confident that this would work without any modifications.
Etrailer communicated shipping status which made the whole buying process seamless.
