I really like the way it works. It took a little work to find room on the trailer frame but after moving the battery bracket it fit just fine. It might be a little overkill for my full size tent trailer, (Coleman Grandview SP) with two kings and a side slide out. But with a SUV tow vehicle the extra weight on the front axle was worth it. I use my 2015 Toyota Sienna XLE to tow a Coleman pop up camper. Loaded the camper is about 3000 pounds. This is within thee tow rating of the van and it pulls it with no problem. However I was not to pleased with the rear sag and with a front wheel drive vehicle the potential loss of traction. After talking to the helpful folk at etrailer.com I purchased and installed the Reese SC weight distribution hitch with sway control. The install was straightforward and after spending some time adjusting per the instructions I am very pleased, without the hitch I was seeing about an inch and a half of rise on the front end. That is gone! Now the van and trailer are level. I have also noticed the trailer is much more stable when towing. 355142

Instructions were clear and easy to follow. Husband and I installed it on my 2011 Jeep Gran Cherokee in a couple of hours. The sway bars were easy for me to get off and on their pads with the included lever. Car is rated for 5000 lbs towing; the camper I pull weighs about 3100 loaded. Just returned from a 2200 mile trip and had no problems. Stayed at 65mph or less, depending on conditions. Went thru a thunderstorm with high winds that pushed me around a bit but I slowed down to 35 - 40 mph and the camper stayed right behind me. Guess what I am trying to say is the WDS with sway control works great, but it won't cure stupid! 407552

Very effective stabilization and sway reduction for my 3500 lb travel trailer. Be sure to keep bar sockets greased to prevent wear which will compromise your tension angle. Learned the expensive way as this is my second time purchasing it. Note the kit now actually ships a heavier duty draw-bar (#3212) than what's pictured on the product page (#54970). My lower back prefers the lighter draw bar (15 vs 25lbs) since it's load rating is adequate for this kit, and E-trailer swapped it out on request. Excellent service from E-trailer as always, which is why I always prefer to buy my gear here when possible. 77979

Outstanding service from etrailer and their customer service rep Courtney. My Reese WDH was initially on back order from the manufacturer. Courtney kept me informed on the status of my order while I waited and then she made sure I received it as soon as possible once it was available. The hitch itself looks great. Arrived very well packaged. I just finished installing it and setting it up and it levelled out my outfit ('02 Tundra with 17' Casita trailer) very nicely. The installation instructions from the manufacturer are excellent...throrough and clear. 235223

I had been pulling our 17' Casita RV with our Toyota 4Runner with no problems whatsoever. I replaced the 4Runner with a new Toyota Hiqhlander. The Highlander had plenty of towing capacity but the tongue weight of the Casita caused the Highlander to sag. We installed a Reese weight distributing hitch and the Highlander now pulls like a dream and is perfectly level. Having never used a wdh, I was concerned that it would be difficult to learn how to use but that was not the case. I couldn't be more pleased with my Reese wdh! 429940

The provided installation instructions and etrailer videos were very helpful. The bolt-on hangers with sway control pads were easy to install (no welding!) and could be positioned on the frame to avoid the propane tanks. The hitch head tilt angle setup took me two tries, but the result was a level trailer with no tow vehicle front end lift. The spring bars easily pop onto the hangers using the lift handle once the tongue jack with trailer is raised a few inches. Towing the trailer felt very secure with no sway or bounce. 60550

Product is designed well but manufactured poorly. Contacted etrailer to resolve a simple issue where one of the covers of the friction blocks do not close properly and got the run around and was told to simply bend the cover. Called back and was given the run around. Poor customer service. 421332

For me, this hitch OK at best. It does tow nicely, however... The paint quality on the brackets was horrible. They were rusty coming out of the box with most of the paint peeling off. I spent some time talking to etrailer, and then on to talk to Reese, but I just ended up and sand blasting all the paint off and repainting them myself. The friction pads are well worn after a few uses during the last 6 months. My biggest complaint is the difficulty of lifting the bars into place. I have to lift the back of my Suburban and my trailer tongue about 12" before I can use the lever tool to snap the bars into place. The lever is only good for a fraction of the preload needed on the bars. Another inch or two and the tires would be off the ground. My hitch is rated for 500lb straight tongue weight, and I am using it to lift my Suburban by the trailer ball (probably 3000lb in the back). Doesn't seem right. If I keep this system, I will need to get a powered jack, but it will need to be strong enough to lift my Suburban and 1000lb of trailer tongue weight. If I add water to the trailer, the only way to adjust the weight distribution is to get some wrenches out and change bolt holes for the hangers or readjust the head angle. I'll never attempt this, however, because I'm not sure how I'd get the bars on if I add any more preload. 194940

This worked great! I have a 33' boat on a tri-axle trailer with surge brakes. While a bit pricey compared to some of the other products out this one allowed the surge brakes to work correctly. Installation took about 2-3 hours and I had used a couple of extra hands to help out. Here is the final product: 82045

This hitch was fairly easy to install. The saddles were really close to not fitting due to propane tank location. However, it was within the guidelines. Once installed, adjustment wasn't too bad. Just a little time consuming. I haven't towed the trailer any great distance or at any speed without this WDH so I can't compare it to towing without. Towing with it is solid with no sway at all. Undulations in the road cause no significant porpoising. My tow vehicle is a 2011 Expedition and the trailer is 25ft long @ about 5500lbs (6500 GVWR). I was able to adjust the WDH for 0 front rise and only marginal sag in the rear. But... Maneuvering tight corners can get the bars close to slipping out of the saddles. I had one turn, tight downhill road meeting a flat cross street, pop one of the metal covers off the saddle. I'm not dissatisfied per se. But given what I know now, may have chosen a conventional WDH with separate anti-sway control. 282188

Purchased this product to help balance a single axle all-aluminum trailer, where the rear axle is placed quite far back on the trailer, thus increasing the tongue weight on my vehicle when loaded. Item arrived quickly. Set-up went relatively smooth, with a few notable exceptions. You *WILL* need a 1/2" hex-head/allen wrench to install the shoulder bolt. We had to make a run to the store to get one, as most sets don't include this large size. Contrary to the instructions, you decrease tongue load on the vehicle by moving the pads *CLOSER* to the ball. Moving the pads farther from the ball increased tongue load for me. And, make note - the brackets that mount to the trailer frame hang down quite low once installed. If ground clearance is a potential issue, make sure you double-check prior to taking off. Other than these few small nuances, the kit seems great and dramatically improved towing dynamics. 433993

WOW I had NO IDEA what I was missing towing without these setups!! WOW!! I consider myself a pretty good driver, and I've been known to take chances on the road that would cause most to recoil in fear ... but I will NEVER tow again without a weight distribution setup - especially with the added anti-sway pads! This setup is GREAT! Every so often I haul cars or trucks a couple hundred miles or so, and I've had some loads that I couldn't exceed 60 MPH towing without clearing the highway with my whipping trailer. Since installing this one, every load so far has been rock solid - makes the trailer feel like it's a part of the actual frame of your tow vehicle. AMAZING! I've towed at speeds that I will not post here, wink wink ... and it never missed a beat! Pricey, and very heavy, but WELL worth the money and added weight - trust me on that one! 172903

I purchased this to replace an existing Reese weight distribution hitch that was beginning to wear. Installation was pretty easy although you will need to raise and lower the tongue a few times to make adjustments. Luckily for me I just added a motorized tongue jack! For me the total installation time took about 90 minutes. I do have a compressor and air ratchet that helped speed up this process. Most of the bolts are dimpled to ensure that they won't loosen which makes tightening by hand a little tough. This also replaces my old sway control bar as it's integrated into this product...one less thing that I need to carry. Overall I am very pleased with this purchase! 87555

Ordered this hitch to offset my new toyhaulers heavy tongue weight of 1450lbs. It did a great job. My Toyota Tundra has a 6" lift so I wasn't sure the hitch would have enough drop. Without the load distribution my truck would sag 8 full inches. With the hitch set at 1 hole from maximum my truck is only dropping 2 inches which is really the perfect ride. It pops and clanks when taking turns but, my last load distribution hitch did and I think they all do. Excellent product. Night and day difference over original snap up chain setups. No sway at all in any condition. No problem making turns in tight spaces or backing into spaces. The only thing I would recommend is a tongue jack with lots of travel or carry extra blocks to put under jack as you have to crank the front of trailer and back of truck very high to get spring bars into brackets. To install have good knowledge of distribution systems because the instructions are TERRIBLE! The people at etrailer.com are incredible and can answer any question you may have. They have a customer for life. 78404

The Reese SC product is awesome. I have used both the dual cam set up, and the brake pad SC style, and I prefer the SC style. I haven't seen any difference in handling or sway, but the SC style is easier to set up. hook up, and move between trailers if needed. No drilling. No chains. Much quieter without all of the popping with the cam system. The uplift tool is great. I have not had one of those with my older SC hitch. And, of course, eTrailer is awesome! The product works very well. The installation directions were good. This packages makes my truck and trailer handle very well and feels safe. No weird vibrations and hook up is a breeze. There were issues with the hitch initially. The package shipped with incorrect parts made for a different model of hitch. The sway arms also had the sticker on the wrong side which the directions use to indicate installation orientation. Reese support was great and sent the correct/missing parts. 451856

Eliminates Sway and Bouncing I use this on my 1/2 Ton Chevy Avalanche and towing a heavy boat with tandem axle. The hitch saved my boat when one of the trailer axles broke during towing. Without this hitch the trailer wants to bounce and sway to the point where it goes out of control to cause an accident. With this hitch installed there is almost no bounce or sway. I totally recommend this product. Just read the instructions, the key is on how to get it set-up correctly before towing. 2627

Almost NO sway I've pulled my trailer with, and W/O this hitch, and there is no comparison. The hitch almost completely removes any sway caused by winds and big semi's passing. It levels my truck, which allows me to tow at night, and not blind oncoming traffic. My only complaint is that it can be difficult to get the bars into the friction pads. After over 5,000 Mi. towing, I'm very pleased with this equalizing / sway control hitch. 1950

Had shop install on my boat trailer with pole tongue and surge brake setup (needed pole tongue adapter kit). So far, so good. Works well and have noticed good results when towing. Will say it is a bit of extra work to get the things on/off each time (the sway bars that is). And the weight adds close to 150 lbs to the tongue weight :/ kinda ridiculous considering the point of a wd hitch, but nothing u can do about that... 269346

This would be an excellent item if the brake pads that the bars rest on were a better quality, I took it out for a 5 mile test run and I'm gonna have to buy brake pads already, they crumble very easily. Also, I had to purchase a 2" rise ball for the hitch, I could not make a turn with out my trailer pushing my bars off of the brake pads. Works exactly as advertised. The integrated friction brake works just fine - no side sway when passed or passing BIG RIGs. I have a rack across my trailer tong that prevents me from using the supplied trunnion tool due to limited clearance. I just use a BIG thumb screw wrench instead (while the tong is up for hitch connection) which is no problem. 81315

We just picked up our new camper on 10/30 the dealer was very much impressed and reassured me I have a quality product. I was very happy with the sale and your company keeping me well-informed of my order. At this time only pictures I have are the new camper, of course 158581

Etrailer had the best pricing I could find. The time it took them to get it shipped to me was excellent. Very happy with the hitch I purchased also it was exactly what I was looking for thank you! Can't beat free shipping for something that weighs 75 lbs either. 127548

WD and sway control system arrived promptly. Have not yet installed but unit seems well built and heavy duty. Have to build a single pole adapter first because my LoadRite trailer is too long in the surge brake extension area and no products exist. 383906

It Works Great ! On a 2017 1/2 ton Gmc pulling a 24 ft. 5500 lb. camper , without the hitch it had the truck all over the road, not safe. With the hitch , the camper pulled like I had it behind my dually. I'm impressed with the out-come. 379783

  • Weight Distribution/Sway Control Recommendation for a Shadow Cruiser with 528 Pounds Tongue Weight
  • The estimated 528 pound tongue weight is a little too close for comfort for a system rated up to 600 pounds. I recommend going up to the 800 pound system, # RP66153 since its range is actually 400 to 800 pounds tongue weight. The sway control part is metal on brake pad-like material. The systems are durable unless they are constantly working for some reason. Otherwise under normal conditions they should last you a good long while. The metal on metal can be noisy but any system is going...

  • Comparing Reese SC Weight Distribution Systems with Round Bars and Trunnion Bars
  • The trunnion style bars, like on # RP66151, are considered more heavy duty, they are easier to install than round bars, and they offer more ground clearance than a round bar system. If you have a taller vehicle like a full size truck, ground clearance will not be an issue. Once you have installed and removed the round spring bars a few times, installation will be easy enough, though not as simple as with the trunnion style bars. And as long as you are within the capacity of either system,...

  • Weight Distribution System for A 2006 Cadillac Escalade Towing a 7000 lb Carmate Trailer
  • Weight distribution systems are selected according to the tongue weight of the trailer being towed. For a 7000 lb capacity Carmate trailer your tongue weight fully loaded and ready to tow should be somewhere between 700 and 850 lbs. A weight distribution system with a tongue weight capacity between 600 and 1,200 lbs like the Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution System, item # BXW1000, or the Reese Strait-Line Weight Distribution System, item # RP66088, would be the proper choice for a system...

  • Comparing Reese SC Weight Distribution System With Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System
  • The Reese SC # RP66151 and the Equal-i-zer # EQ37060ET systems are both very good and will work well with your 2011 Ford F-150 and your 17SD Casita trailer. The major differences are in the tilting design of the head, the trunnion bars, and the friction points. The Equal-i-zer system uses the traditional washer stacking design for the head angle, where the Reese system uses a serrated washer design so no additional washers or stacking is needed. The trunnion bars are shaped a little...

  • Comparing The Reese SC Weight Distribution System With The Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System
  • The Reese SC Weight Distribution System w Sway Control - Trunnion - 10,000 lbs GTW, 600 lbs TW, # RP66151, and the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System w/ 4-Point Sway Control - 6,000 lbs GTW, 600 lbs TW, # EQ37060ET, are both really nice weight distribution systems with sway control. There are only minor differences between them. For weight distribution systems, you always want to look at the total tongue weight that includes the trailer tongue weight when fully loaded along with...
