You’re gonna love this! I put the hitch on my Corvette to haul a small luggage trailer on long trips. The hitch works great!
Everything fit perfectly and we (my wife and I) got it all assembled within a couple hours! (We haven't done the wiring yet. That will wait for another day.) Taping the washers to the frame, as was suggested in one review, was most helpful. It was only necessary when attaching the last end, because the bolts had to be pushed all the way back for that end to be put in place.
The shipping was quick and free however the packing of the shipping box was very poorly executed. An electronic device, a circuit protected trailer light power module and accessories were shipped in a 10x7x5.5" box with no packing materials to keep the contents from being bounced around in the box which base on the visible crushing of the box was bounced around quite a bid during shipping. Any item shipped needs to be packaged to prevent it from free movement in the box. bouncing around in a box is the worst thing for an electronic device. I hope the module has not been damaged. I ordered this to replace a module that experiences intermittent failure in my vehicle apparently from something damaged in the module.

I mounted the modulator behind the left turn signal. I routed the power wire through the trunk via rubber access plug. I then fished the power wire under rear seat and stuffed it under plastic trim molding along the doors. I went behind left kick panel and then came out and ran it into the fender well, between the door and the fender, and up a structure tube into the engine compartment. The wire is safe from damage and will not be crushed by shutting the door because of the rubber door seal. I ran my XM ant. wire like this also and there are no negative consequences.
Etrailer always comes through with products that are easy to use and at a fair price. The auto trailer wiring kit was easy to install, and works good. All the products I've ordered from etrailer have been great.Great company to do business with.
I haven't installed the hitch or the wiring harness as of yet as I only received everything Thursday in great shape I should add. The wiring looks a little complicated but like I said only yesterday I received it yesterday, but it pretty much looks straight forward.

I received a box with the module, some wire taps, zip ties and a separate package of power wire. No instruction no any kind of paper work.
It feels heavy duty and is working exactly as it should. Easy wiring in my 2005 Passat TDI. The most difficult part was bring the 12ga wire from the battery to the rear of the vehicle. The effort was worth it; I have a professional looking install that works perfectly.
Eric P - 05/03/2014I recommend the Tow-Ready 119147KIT instead of the Curt Model for a 2013 Prius. I had to return the Curt Kit because the running lights/tail light stayed on all the time even with the vehicle off. Sometimes there wasn’t a tail/running light on if you reset the converter by removing and re-installing the fuse. This Tow-Ready model works like it should. You'll need 12 gauge wire to run from the battery, (right side hatch area,) to this unit which will need to be mounted on the driver’s side, rear hatch. At the very top of the left rear tail light are covered wires going into a plug. The Blue is the Stop light and the Brown is the tail/running light. (Be careful since these wires are thin solid copper wires.) Left turn signal is the green/yellow stripe wire and on the right side rear lamp the right turn signal is also the green/yellow stripe wire. You will need to remove the left rear panel to get to the blue and brown wires. Remove the bottom tray cover, the bottom tray as well as the left rear plastic tray and the plastic bottom hatch trim over the latch assembly. Remove the Phillips screw on the left rear panel as well as the chrome tie down clamp. This sounds harder than it really is. Good luck!

YOUR KIT WAS SPOT ON AND BEING ABLE TO GO TO YOUR WEBSITE ACCESS THE VIDEO TUTORIAL WAS ALL I NEEDED TO HAVE A PAINLESS INSTALL, FUNCTIONING RIGHT AND PORPER ON THE FIRST TRY. Comprehensive kit - came with everything needed for easy installation! Would highly recommend for anyone needing to power vehicle trailer lights. The online PDF was very helpful as well to see the wiring diagram and be able to view >100% for those with difficulty reading the paper instructions :)
This kit lacks any type of instruction in the package but appears complete. At the price I expect clear instruction without needing to look for them online. The leads on the module are about 5 or 6 ft too short to be of use on the 2022 Sorento PHEV SX I have, ground and power are only identified on your installation video. As well, the splices provided are for wires larger that in that vehicle leading to failed connections on each wire!For the price I paid I certainly expected that I would NOT have to scour several local shops for the parts to finish the job nor to have to refer and search necessary information!.

Ordered this, together with a hitch receiver. etrailer waited a month to update the delivery date for the hitch receiver to 3 months ahead, so I canceled the hitch receiver and requested they send me this Upgraded Modulite vehicle wiring harness kit, which came incomplete. I called and got the rest of the items sent, which took another week. Hopefully installation goes as indicated int he instructions.
Guality stuff. etrailer.com is the only place I buy trailer stuff.
I purchased a trailer and connector for my Lexus NX300 Hybrid and it works well!! The Lexus dealer told me I could not add a trailer or I would lose the ability to use my foot to automatically open up the trunk (sensor). However your team told me that I could have the trailer and not lose access. Your team was correct and the trailer has come in handy. We have not carried anything on the hitch yet, but know we can if needed. Also, the trailer is very nice looking... you can barely notice it.
Great kit. Installed in 2021 Kia Sorento. Would advise soldering the wires into harness instead of using the crimp connectors. Fits well in same compartment as tire kit under back deck. Would be nice if the manufacturer instructions were included. Other than that, very happy with it.
Just completed the installation of the 119147KIT on a 2014 Lexus RX350 and it works great. Everything needed was included in the kit and the installation process was fairly easy. As always when I purchase items from e-trailer things fit and the right amount of supplies are included as well as installation instructions. i have always had excellent service from e-trailer and have great confidence in doing business with e-trailer. I know that i will get a great product with support, if needed, and always a follow up e- mail to see if everything was OK.

Hans H - 01/28/2017My RX350 Lexus did not have a towing package, and I used this kit for getting all the trailer lights to work. It took me a little more time to make the electrical connections as I needed to probe individual wires to ensure I was connected to the correct wires. Once completed, everything worked fine and still does. Glad I did it.

This was not in the description anywhere that this part would not work with non led lights.
David B - 09/06/2022This converter worked great on my 2018 VW Alltrack. The way I've got it installed, all the wiring is inside the trunk and never exposed to the weather so I expect it'll last a while. When I hook up a trailer I just pull the leads out, and close the trunk lid on the wire. As long as you don't close it on the actual 4-pin connector there's plenty of clearance between the trunklid and the floor while closed so the wires don't get pinched.
Works great, have used it many times this past year to tow a small trailer and sailboat with my 2013 Chevy Volt. Seems to be very safe and secure so far.
My tail light converter just arrived, on time, and with the detailed installation videos available from Curt, like those for my hitch installation, I don't anticipate any major issues!
2017 Audi q7 is a "2 wire" setup. I finally figured that out, grounded the red wire and everything works beautifully. I also pulled my power from the fuse box in the left rear luggage area. The red bus has 25 amp fuses. I installed a buddy fuse adapter with the 15 amp fuse that came with this kit. That saved me a lot of time taking apart panels to get to the battery.
Jenny N - 05/06/2022Installation stretched my limits, but we will blame that on the car and on my narrow limits. It is a tight and clean install. Has worked flawlessly this past year. I used it just yesterday to haul junk and brush about 100 miles for disposal. I would definitely buy this hitch again.
Andrew - 04/15/2022Got this to install in my 2016 Volkswagen Golf. I had a mechanic do this one, which gave me the option of the 4-way connector, then proceeded to install a 4-way-to-7-way adapter in addition to running a line from the car battery, to tow a 13' Scamp fiberglass trailer. 2 years later, it's still working just fine, no problems or issues.
I put this on a Chrysler Pacifica. Worked flawlessly for the year that I had. I tow a trailer at least weekly.
Quick and easy install, tutorial videos were big help, will always buy from etrailer now
I tried to follow the directions and code the wires to the car's function. The brake/directional were on the same wire and easy. However, the taillight was testing on two of the remaining wires. I called for clarification and was given the incorrect wire by two different techs. I had to cut that wire and attach to the remaining wire and everything appears to be working properly now.

Bought it with a tester light. Had a local window tinting and stereo shop install in hours.
Well I ordered the wrong wiring because I was told my car wasn't wired for a trailer package. I later found the plugs and returned this one and got the right one. it was very simple to install.
Worked for the first trip and then lost brake and tail lights. Frustrating for an expensive converter.
Jenny N - 06/15/2022Pretty straight forward install on a 2013 Audi Q5 S-Line.
There is an ground lug on the rear inside panel right next to a convenient spot to mount the unit.
I removed the silver panel along the tailgate sill to route the power wire and the trailer plug tail before I started. It clips off easily, and you can reach between the side panel and the battery compartment with your fingers. There's a small electrical connector on the panel, so be careful to disconnect it before yanking on it. Make sure you replace this panel as soon as you have routed the wires, as that electrical connector is to two micro switches that detect if the door is closed... there is no power to the rear lights while the tailgate is up, so this panel needs to be in place before you start wiring.
Correct wires were easy to locate. The 2013 Q5 is a little different to the wiring types listed in the instructions, as while the brake runs off the turn signals, there is a separate tail light wire. If you are probing for the wires, close the tailgate, and climb in through the rear passenger door.
Here are the correct splices off the tan connector...
Tail Light (Brown) - splice to Black with Green trace
Left Signal (Yellow) - splice to Gray with Black Trace
Right Signal (Green) - splice to Gray with Blue trace
Red and White both Grounded together.
The only issue I had was that the blue splice connectors supplied are too big for the fine wires on the Audi, so when I tested the install, I had nothing working. I replaced the blue connectors with the smaller red ones, and all worked perfectly then.
Start to finish, about 90 minutes.
worked great.had it installed by professional and no problems. use it a lot. however, the wiring harness was the wrong one but the pro was able to fix the problem. need better info for wiring.

I was waiting for the correct vehicle specific part. etrailer called said they had an equal they could ship right away. I would not have to wait as the equal would work. Took me 3 hours to modify vehicle wiring to adapt to the so called equal. Not happy. Check me out I am a long time loyal customer. You shouldn’t treat good customers like this just so you can make a sale
