Today on our 2015 Volkswagen Passat, we're test fitting the Thule Raceway Pro. It's a two bike rack, trunk mounted bike rack, and the part number for that is TH9001PRO. We do already have our bike on the rack, we're going to show you how we strapped the bike down, and then also some features of the rack, and how it's connected to your vehicle. We've got two cradles holding down the frame of the vehicle here. We've got three straps, two frame straps and one anti-sway. That's going to keep that bike from swinging back and forth, and possibly damaging your vehicle while you're driving down the road. The first thing we'll do, it we'll take off our frame straps here.

Hey everyone. Today, we have a 2014 Volkswagen Passat, and we're going to do a test fit of the Saris Bones EX 3 bike rack. Now this bike rack mounts to the trunk of your vehicle, it allows you to get three of your bikes transported to and from your destination.A benefit of having a trunk mounted rack is that you're not going to have to worry about investing in a hitch mounted rack and if you don't even have a hitch yet, then you have to invest in the hitch as well, or even a roof rack, plus a bike rack to be able to get your bike from point A to point B.With the bike, it's attached at three different points, we're going to have two straps on our top tube right here, securing it into the cradles and we're also going to have an anti-sway cradle securing the seat post too, just taking out a lot of the unnecessary movement. You see, it's still moving a little bit right there, but not near as much as it would without this strap. It's going to help prevent a lot of bike to vehicle contact and bike to bike contact.Now let's go ahead and take the bike off. It's going to be pretty easy to do.

That part number's HIT3S.Now we have the silver installed right now, however it does come in black under part number HIT3B.This is a trunk mounted bike rack that mounts to the trunk of your vehicle, and it can carry up to three bikes. This is gonna be one of the nice hybrid versions of a trunk mount bike rack. It's very light, so it's gonna be very easy to install, but it's also gonna be durable and be able to support your bikes very well.If we look at the bike and how it's attached to the rack, excuse me, we're gonna see we have to ratchet straps on the top of our bike frame securing it into the cradles. We also have a third point with an anti-sway cradle and a strap. Once we secure that, that's gonna prevent our bike from swaying too much while we're traveling.

As you can see, we already have a bike installed, so let's take a look at some of the features.These cradles can pivot left and right, and back and forth, with a little bit of force up and down on the bike rack to provide any type of spacing needs you might have between your bikes, or between your vehicle and bike. Our bike is connected to two different points of contact. We have these rubber straps that are coming around and simply latching onto this little notch right there. The bike rack also does come with a stabilization strap, so when all three bikes are loaded, simply just undo the strap, wrap it around your bikes, and come back to the strap and up and through it.

Each cradle has has a rubber strap that simply goes around the little notch right there and secures your bike down. If we look at the bike, we see it's connected at three different points of contact. We have two straps on the top. We simply pull the straps over and hang them on the little notches so they're secure.

You see these little notches coming up from the padding. That kind of acts as shock absorber for your bike frame during travel.

As you can see, we already have a bike installed, so let's go ahead and take a look at some of the features.Now, starting from the outside, we see on both of these ends, we have the bottle openers, which are on most Yakima bike racks. If we look at the cradles, we see each cradle comes with a zip strip, that's used to secure your bike down and the cradles have this nice rubber TPE padding. Now, what that means is these little notches that come out from the padding, they're going to act as shock absorbers for the frame of your bike while you're in travel, it's going to protect it from any type of abrasions or scratches.If you come and see how our bike is connected, we see we have two points of contact on top of the frame. We have these two zip strips that come down in and strap it into the cradles. If we look down here, we have a third point of contact, it's this anti-rattle cradle.

Today on our 2013 Volkswagen Passat, well be test fitting the Thule Gateway Trunk Mounted 2 Bike Carrier, part number TH9006XT. Now to begin our test fit, we will first need to adjust the trunk mount according to the shape and size of our trunk. You can use the gray buttons to adjust the angle of the trunk mount so that it may fit more securely onto the vehicle. The two straps at the top of the carrier will attach to the top of the trunk. The two straps located at the bottom of the carrier will latch up against the bottom of the trunk. We can then connect the side straps either above or below the taillights.

Now to begin our test fit, we will need to check the instructions or the Yakima Fit Guide to see where this carrier needs to be placed onto the vehicle. Well go ahead and set the carrier onto the trunk just below the license plate. Well connect the top hooks to the top part of the trunk, the side hooks to the sides of the trunk below the taillight and the bottom hooks at the bottom of the trunk. You may need to open your trunk to get the hooks in place without damaging your vehicle. Once we get the hooks all in place, well go ahead and tighten down the straps and secure the slack of the straps with the included plastic hooks.

Today on our 2013 Volkswagen Passat, well be test fitting the Thule Raceway Platform-Style 2 Bike Carrier Trunk Mount, part number TH9003. Now to begin out test fit, well set the carrier onto the trunk and adjust the jaws of the carrier to fit the trunk correctly. You can do this by pulling up on the grey levers located on each side of the top of the carrier. Once we have established a correct fit to the trunk, we can go ahead and connect the top two hooks to the top of the trunk and the bottom two hooks to the bottom of the trunk and tighten them down. Once we get the trunk mount secured to the vehicle, were ready to load our bike. Well lower the platform and slide out the wheel trays by undoing the grey lever located at each end of the wheel tray.

Today on our 2013 Volkswagon Passat, well be Thule Raceway 2 Bike Carrier Trunk Mount, part number th9001. Now to begin our test fit, well set the carrier onto the trunk and adjust the claws to fit the trunk. You can adjust the jaws by pulling the gray levers located at the top jaw, and push them down to secure them in place. Once we have decided a secure angle for the jaws, we can then hook the top straps onto the top of the trunk and the bottom straps onto the bottom of the trunk and turn the gray knobs located at each end of the carrier to secure the claws to the trunk. Once we have the carrier secured to the vehicle, we can lift up the gray handle located at the center of the carrier to swing the cradle arms out. We can then push it back down to secure it in place.

Today on our 2013 Volkswagen Passat, well be test fitting the Thule Passage 2 Bike Carrier Trunk Mount, part number TH910XT. Now before I begin our test fit, well first need to check the instructions or the Thule Fit Guide to determine where our dial should be set on our carrier. For this vehicle we have dial set at seven. Well go ahead and set the carrier onto the trunk and put the top hooks to the top of the trunk, the side hooks to the sides of the trunk below the taillights and the bottom hooks to the bottom of the trunk. The bottom pads should be sitting just below the license plate. Now well go ahead and secure the carrier to the vehicle by tightening down the straps and securing the excess slack. Once the carrier is secured to the vehicle were ready to load our bike.

Hollywood Racks Baja 2 Trunk Bike Rack Review - 2013 Volkswagen Passat

Today on our 2013 Volkswagen Passat, well be test fitting the Hollywood Racks Baja 2 Bike Carrier Trunk Mount, part number HRB2. Now to begin our test fit, well set the carrier on top of the trunk and if necessary use the black levers located at each end of the carrier to adjust the jaws to allow a better fit onto the vehicle. Once you have established the correct fit, you can use the top two hooks to hook to the top of the trunk, the two side hooks to hook to the side of the trunk below the taillights and the two hooks to hook to the bottom of the trunk. Once all of the straps are in place, we can secure the carrier to the vehicle by tightening down the straps and securing the excess slack. Once it is secured to the vehicle, were ready to load our bike. Well undo the cradle straps, set the bike into the frame cradles and secure it with the straps.
