Toyota FJ Cruiser Cargo Carriers Questions

  • When it comes to picking out the best roof cargo carrier for your 2014 Toyota FJ Cruiser a lot really depends on what you are looking to use it for and what you are hauling. Typically the higher end cargo boxes are made out of stronger materials which helps them to be a little more sturdy than some of our entry-level options. If your Cruiser just has the side rails that run front to back but no crossbars then you will want to install Thule AeroBlade Load Bars # THARB53 for...

  • SUPs are usually pretty long. The Carpod part # M2205-2201 isn't going to be long enough to fit the length of a SUP like what you have. You are going to have to look into a roof rack mounted SUP carrier like the SUP Taxi part # TH810XT which is a fit for the factory crossbars of your 2014 Toyota FJ Cruiser.

  • The Curt trailer hitch mount cargo carrier # C18153 measures approximately 9 inches from the top of the receiver tube to the top of the side rails nearest the vehicle at 19 inches back from the center of the pin hole. This can vary slightly though if the hitch receiver is angled slightly up or down. Based on this it would be very close on a 2013 FJ Cruiser but you would need to measure to be sure. Also, when folded up, the carrier is 9 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole...

  • The Thule Force medium cargo box # TH624 will fit the factory roof rack on your 2013 Toyota FJ Cruiser. There shouldn't be any interference issues with the back of the vehicle since the rear door opens to the side instead of up. I have linked a video review of this cargo box for you. Please consult the vehicle owners manual and/or Toyota for the roof weight capacity prior to loading anything on the roof. A tire step such as # HE4040 makes accessing the vehicle roof much easier...

  • The corrugations in the Force Alpine cargo box, # TH623, help to give the box support and ability to carry weight. The long boxes like the Alpine series are better suited for skis but you can certainly carry anything that will fit and that is within the weight capacity of the box. The 12 cubic feet of space takes into consideration the corrugations on the bottom. I have included a link to a video review of this cargo box for you.

  • To know if you'll be able to clear the Let's Go Aero Gear Cage, part # H01397 , with the rear door of the 2012 FJ Cruiser, you'll need to measure the length of the rear door and how far off the hitch the door sits. The primary contact point you'll want to worry about is the sides of the carrier, which are 7 inches tall. You'll want to measure from the bottom of the door to the top of your trailer hitch. If you have more than 7 inches, you'll clear the carrier easily and then...

  • You'd have to measure from the center of the hitch pin on your 2012 Toyota FJ Cruiser out to the furthest point out on the rear spare to determine if the Curt carrier part # C18153 will clear it. If that distance is less than 9 inches this will fit and clear the spare.

  • On the MaxxTow cargo carrier # MT70100 it measures 8 inches from the top of the hitch receiver opening to the top of the carrier. You will want to measure from the top of your hitch receiver opening to the bottom of the rear door to determine if the 8 inches is too high or if it will clear the carrier. The ramp, when up, is much taller and you would not be able to open the rear door with the ramp up. Another important clearance measurement is the distance from the center...

  • The Thule Pulse XL Cargo Box, # TH615, has been confirmed to fit the factory roof rack on your 2011 Toyota FJ Cruiser. This cargo box has 16 cubic feet of space and measures 76 inches long x 33 inches wide x 16-1/2 inches tall. You may also be interested in a tire step like the HitchMate TireStep, # HE4040. I recently used this step to install a cargo box on a large SUV and it saved a lot of time and hassle for the installation. It is also makes loading and unloading cargo...

  • To determine if the Curt Roof Mounted Cargo Basket, # C18115, will fit your 2010 Toyota FJ Cruiser, you will want to look at the roof of your vehicle. Your FJ Cruiser could have come equipped three ways, with a complete factory roof rack with factory crossbars, only factory raised side rails or with a bare roof. If your FJ Cruiser came with a complete roof rack, then this cargo basket will fit on your vehicle. We have an FJ Cruiser with a factory roof rack on our lot, so I...

  • You will need to do some measuring. Measure from the center of the hitch pin hole to the farthest back part of the spare tire on your Cruiser. This will give you the measurement you need to compare to the measurements of the rack. The MaxxTow MaxxHaul Aluminum Motorcycle Carrier for 2 inch Hitch, item # MT70101, has a measurement of 17 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the wheel track and 12-3/4 inches to the closest edge of the carrier. I am confident,...

  • I checked with Thule and I am happy to report that the Force XXL cargo box # TH626 will fit the factory roof rack on your 2010 Toyota FJ Cruiser. No additional parts are required. I have included a link to a video review of this cargo box for you.

  • We do offer a range of hitch-mount wheelchair carriers like the MaxxTow # MT70260 that you referenced. The best option for you will depend on the weight of your chair. Trailer hitches such as the one on your FJ have a specific tongue weight rating (tongue weight is downward force on the hitch) and this capacity cannot be exceeded. Your vehicle itself also has a tongue weight rating (indicated in your manual or available from your dealership) that likewise cannot be exceeded....

  • The Rola Cargo Basket, part # 59504 will fit the crossbars, but the trouble is in the spread. Since the rack mounts to side-to-side bars on the bottom of the basket, it's not very easy to fit the rack to different positions. The Rola Basket you're looking at fits 26-1/4", 30", 33-3/4", or 37-1/2" spreads on your crossbars. Since it sounds like you can change the mounting position, you can play with it a little bit to see if you can make a fit for one of these distances. Based...

  • On the Curt trailer hitch mount cargo carrier # C18153 it measures 8-3/4 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the pivot bracket. If you measure on your FJ Cruiser from the center of the hitch pin hole back to the distance needed to clear the rear bumper and it is less than 8-3/4 inches then the carrier will fit when folded down. But when folded up the carrier is 9 inches from the center of the pin hole.

  • Thanks for getting me the hitch pin to end of spare tire clearance your vehicle has. That makes my job much easier. The SportRack Cargo Carrier part # SR9851 just might work for you. When folded up it has a distance of 10-1/2 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the nearest railing of the carrier. Basically you would have a 1/2 inch of clearance so you may want to verify the measurement you took.

  • I checked with Yakima and the LoadWarrior cargo basket part # Y07080-82 that you referenced is a confirmed fit directly to the crossbars of your 2008 Toyota FJ Cruiser and would not require any adapters.

  • You need only take one simple measurement of your FJ Cruiser's 2-inch hitch to know whether or not the Ultra-Fab Dirt Bike Carrier # UF48-979033 will clear your rear-mounted spare tire. Measure from the center of the hitch pin hole to the rear-most edge of the spare tire. The minimum clearance you need will generally be one inch greater than the distance you measure. This Ultra-Fab carrier provides 5-inches of clearance from the hitch pin hole so if your hitch-pin-hole-to-tire...

  • In order to determine if the Rola cargo basket, # 59504, will fit the 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser, you will need to measure the crossbars. First the factory crossbars cannot be wider than 3-1/4 inches. Next, measure the distance between the bars from the center of the front bar to the center of the rear bar. For the rack to fit, it must be one of the following spreads: 37-1/2 inches center to center 33-3/4 inches center to center 30 inches center to center 26-1/4 inches center...

  • The shank on the Pro Series cargo carrier # 63153 is meant to only install with a rise. But the reason that some people have installed it upside down is because the diagram in the instructions, see link, shows the basket being assembled upside down so it is a little confusing. What I recommend is a carrier with a straight shank such as # 52018 or # CC-100.
