Rhino-Rack Roof Mounted Steel Cargo Basket - 47" Long x 35" Wide - 165 lbs
Greetings, I am giving these items 3? Because I was offered alternative products that did not fit together. Originally, I intended to purchase a roof rack cargo basket type and a spare tire holder from Yakima manufacturer that go well together, but one of them wasn’t in stock. So, after 3 weeks waiting time, I was offered alternative items via etrailer website, and I accepted them…after all, they are the experts. I got the recommended items through UPS, then I assembled them by myself. The roof rack cargo basket fit well on my car, but the spare tire holder was not compatible with the roof rack cargo basket. They couldn’t be assembled together. I submitted my claim to return the spare tire holder. Now, I have not achieved my goal to carry my spare tire. Understanding the needs and expectations of your customers is critical to maximize customer satisfaction. I am sure both products are good, but they are not compatible together, even though they were manufactured by the same company. Distributors should know better! I returned one item and I hope to be refunded.
It was a breeze to install on my 2018 Ford Explorer. Two reasons why I bought this. #1 the price for the size of the rack #2 The ability to adjust the universal mounting brackets from front to back or length wise. I had tried another brand rack but the mounting brackets were from side to side and did not line up with my fixed cross bars. I used silicone to seal all the connection points. I have not seen any rust as of yet. I like it so much that I might sell this one locally and upgrade to next size up.I've had compliments on the appearance also. with the plus up sized tires and the rack. It has given the Explorer a sportier look. I definitely would recommend this rack to anyone.

20x59 Curt Cargo Carrier for 2" Hitches - Steel - Folding - 500 lbs
This carrier was super easy to assemble. It is a bit heavy but I was able to mount it onto my hitch alone. I’m using an anti-rattle lock and they work great together.
Easy installation and solid build! We assembled the cargo carrier and installed the hitch very easily! Took it on a trip and it did great, we love it. Thanks so much etrailer!

Yakima LoadWarrior Roof Rack Cargo Basket - Steel - 44" Long x 39" Wide
Well done Yakima and etrailer. Great product and great service. The product is well made (in Taiwan....not China) and the parts and instruction video made it relatively" easy to install. Two people helps to install it more readily. The wind diffuser in the front greatly reduces wind noise. All in all very happy and glad I bought through etrailer. Service was excellent and delivery prompt.
One year of driving with this thing on the roof of our 2016 toyota sienna in Washington state - Some background: Our van is awd and didn't come with a spare, so we bought one off another van, and we carry it on the roof since there is nowhere to mount it in the undercarriage. We haven't used it to carry anything else. Our van is kept in our garage, but it still sees plenty of rain. We haven't had any rust problems that the cheaper carriers have, despite the fact that I didn't do any of the custom caulking/sealing that others have done. We haven't had any rattling at high speeds, or screws coming loose, or anything like that so far. Other than the occasional tightness check, it's been a set it and forget it type of situation. Downside #1: It hurts gas mileage. Went from 20+ mpg to 19 consistently. Downside #2: Wind can be both heard and felt at speeds exceeding around 55 mph. I can feel the drag. It's like a sail that picks up every gust of wind and transmits it to your steering wheel. I tried removing the front flat piece but it got even louder and sailier somehow. Having said all that, it's not as bad as it sounds. It's there, but it's not like it's trying to pull you off the road or anything. You get used to it and it doesn't have to constantly be at the front of your mind when driving. These downsides are not unique to this carrier. I have no experience with other carriers, so I can't say the downsides are better or worse than with others, but my guess it they aren't any worse. I went with this carrier despite it being much more expensive than cheaper alternatives because I just didn't want the hassle of the rust and other problems that they bring. After a year of no problems (aside from the ones I listed that all carriers have), I do think it was worth the extra cost. I hope this helps you decide.

Yakima OffGrid Roof Cargo Basket - Steel - 44" Long x 40" Wide - 165 lbs
Really fast fulfillment and delivery! The medium-sized Yakima OffGrid basket looks great on my car and assembled in about 10 minutes, with installation taking about 15 after doing all the measuring and adjustments to the clamps. Great looking and sturdy product. I used leftover vinyl wrap from my trim work on the red connectors to match everything up. Really happy with the final product!

Thule Force XT L Rooftop Cargo Box - 16 cu ft - Black AeroSkin
Purchased for my 2007 Touareg which has factory raised rails. The Thule Force XT L fits perfectly! Very nice and sturdy. Requires 2 people to lift it up onto the crossbars, but just 1 person can secure it after that. I used the Malone AirFlow 2 crossbars. Installing the Thule Force XT L took about 5 minutes which included time spent measuring to get it centered. Very easy! There is a lot of cargo room - 16 cubic feet - and access from either side of the vehicle. The 2 doors open easily (but you can only have 1 open at a time.). There is a limit of about 12-inches for the opening which is important to note for items you plan to put in. There are tie downs installed and adjustable straps were included to keep items from sliding around. I have not noticed any wind noise and am able to open and close my sunroof and rear hatch easily. The only down-side to this Thule Force XT L is that it needs to be taken off before going to a car wash. I normally have my Touareg washed every week so this is going to be a challenge. Purchased the Thule Force XT L on sale so I think I received a good value. The freight shipping took a while for delivery but tracking the process was easy. The Thule Force XT L instruction book shows to store it flat NOT on end so I was surprised that it was shipped on end inside a cardboard box (with no cushioning or packing materials) and shrink-wrapped onto a pallet. The 2 keys were taped to the side of the cargo box and the package with instructions and straps was unsecured inside the cargo box.
The box is great, kept everything dry. No noise or rattle. Dont skimp out on a good set of rack bars. Easy install. Made it 3000 miles up the AlCan highway.

Curt Roof Mounted Cargo Basket - 62-1/2" Long x 37" Wide x 4" Deep - 150 lbs
Surface rust and paint discoloration after one year. One of the plastic hand-nuts started stripping/spinning, so I had to run down the opposing one to get it to hold, which means that the stud sticks into the cargo area. Wind deflector isn't even. The wind noise is very loud, I can't open my sunroof while driving anymore. All told, it's probably worth what I paid, but it's not exactly a premium product.
Very sturdy & strong, didn't quite fit the factory supplied roof rails that came with the vehicle but I got it to work. I did try to contact etrailer about it via email & never got a reply so was disappointed with that. Rack is recommended, filled it full side to side & front to back with luggage & no problems. Little time consuming to install but not bad.

Thule Motion XT Rooftop Cargo Box - 16 cu ft - Black Glossy
Love my new Thule Motion XT L cargo box. It arrived yesterday packed securely in a cardboard box mounted to a pallet. I was able to quickly unpack and install on my 2014 Jetta SportWagen TDI within minutes. Great customer service through etrailer.com. Thanks so much
We recently used our Thule Motion XT for a trip around the country of around 5000 miles. We used it to haul two snowboards (longest 160 cm) and one set of skis and ski poles, along with all the other gear associated (bindings, boots, etc.). The car topper worked great and has more room that I would have imagined. It is easy to use, the dual side openings have been very helpful, and it is extremely sturdy and stable on top of our Rav4. It did affect the gas mileage somewhat (about 3 - 5 mpg; 35 down to 32), but it is difficult to say how much of that was due to the topper and how much was due to the added load and weight. Even on very windy days, the streamlined topper was no issue. I would highly recommend this to anyone. It is a bit on the pricey end, but it has been well worth it for us.

24x60 Curt Cargo Carrier for 2" Hitches - Steel - 500 lbs
Easy to assemble, nice and solid cargo tray! Bought it with the hitch bracket. Note: no hitch pin included.
OUTSTANDING in every way! As a disabled veteran I was looking for a way to carry my snow blower and lawnmower with my 2020 Grand Cherokee to work and assist others outside my home. I found the etrailer website while surfing and their site offered more information and carrier sizes to chose from. The purchase process was easy and etrailer communicated with me every step after the purchase until delivery. It took about 30 minutes to assemble in my living room and the carrier is sturdy, easy to install and just what I was looking for. etrailer is the bench mark for businesses to model. Thank You

24x60 Reese Cargo Carrier for 2" Hitches - Steel - 500 lbs
Easy to install took about 10-15 minutes and was able to hook up to Highlander with ease. Solid product!!!!! Enough clearance for brake lights and enough separation from vehicle!! Definitely recommend silent hitch pin.
Bought this to free up space inside the Vehicle and also to haul items I don't want IN the vehicle , it's preformed wonderfully. It doesn't take away from fuel mileage, not sloppy in the reciever. Nice clearance from the hatch .Highly recommend this item.

Yakima SkyBox 16 Roof Cargo Box - 16 cu ft - Black Carbonite
This box is great. After owning it for a year I have been able use for summer roads trips and winter ski adventures. Easy to load on top of a Honda Pilot with OEM roof racks and rails. The dual sided opening makes it easier to tie down everything inside.
After one year of owning and using the The SkyBox 16, I have no complaints. As a family of four, the box holds our luggage, which is the size of carry on luggage for airplanes. The SkyBox 16 is about one inch wider than the Thule 16 cubit box, but the Thule is about one inch taller. I am glad that I went with the wider box than the taller box. The width allows for some stuffing room around luggage. Also, if the box were one inch taller, I could not pull into, nor out of, my garage due the height of my garage entrance. The box fits perfectly on my 2013 Subaru Outback, allowing the hatchback to open and not protruding over the front windshield. The box installs easily on the cross bars and locks securely in place. A feature of the Yakima is that when the locking handle of the box lid is closed, the box lid is fully closed and locked. You do not have to worry about the lid being partially unsecured. This gives confidence when traveling at interstate speeds. The quality of construction and the material is very good. The box does cause a reduction of MPG's of about 2-3 gallons. This is not the box's fault; just physics. The only negative is that the floor of the box is not a smooth/level surface due to the locking knobs that clamp the box to the cross bars. This is more of a nuisance than a problem. Even with that caveat, I still give the SkyBox 16 a five out of five stars. I should also add that purchasing this box through etrailer was the best decision I made; good prices and excellent customer service.

Thule Pulse Large Rooftop Cargo Box - 16 cu ft - Matte Black
This was a much needed addition for a drive back to Tucson, AZ from a three month stay in Portland. ME, as we had acquired some extra things and needed more space than our 2015 Honda CRV provided. This fit on top of the rhino vortex aero roof rack I also purchased from e-trailer perfectly. The cargo box functioned as expected, and although we ultimately could have used a slightly larger cargo box, this one worked great for giving us extra space in our car for the drive home. It was easy to mount and opened easily, although it was a bit tricky to load, a step ladder would have helped. It was tough to close, we had to move some stuff around to get it to latch, but I appreciated that it would not lock unless the latches could fully engage, which made me feel like it was going to remain closed while traveling. We wasted no time putting stickers on it, and added more along the drive home, which was fun. We traveled through many different types of weather, it was late spring and was rainy in the beginning of our trip, and very hot towards the end of our trip, and the contents were in perfect condition when we arrived home. There was zero water damage inside, and nothing was damaged from being in the heat. Of course there was some reduced gas mileage and added road noise when traveling, but nothing too unbearable. Also, service and shipping from etrailer was excellent.
The 16 cu ft cargo box fits perfectly on the 2018 Toyota Rav4. Literally takes about 5 minutes, 10min at the most, to set up on the rooftop, and was able to do it without the help of a second person. The box itself weighs very little.

Malone Profile18B Rooftop Cargo Box - 18 cu ft - Black
I’m ultra-pleased with my Malone Profile18b cargo box! I scoured the internet researching these things. I think I looked at every large capacity model around 18 cu ft for my Nissan Armada. There’s lots of good ones out there to choose from. I almost bought a Thule Motion XT, but I decided to go with this Malone cargo box because it had the specs I was looking for at a much better price (18 cu ft for under $xx.xx!). After examining it closely, it seems to be fantastic quality, fit and finish it great, and functions perfectly. It opens and locks from both sides—and new for this year, it has an awesome new 1-click dial attach system that installs and removes easily and holds strong. Also, It’s one of the BEST LOOKING rooftop cargo boxes out there. The Italian shape and glossy black finish looks very high-end. For the money, you can’t beat this box. If you’re considering a rooftop cargo box, don’t hesitate on getting this Malone.
This would have been a nice cargo box however, the box of clamp hardware that was ziptied to one of the prop-up hinges broke the hinge during shipping. The hinge was still ziptied to the cardboard hardware box but had broken loose from the mounting point and now has a broken peg. This makes the hinge no longer stay in place when opening and closing the cargo box. I will attempt to fix it myself as I don't have time for the return process.

Thule Canyon XT Roof Cargo Basket - Steel - 69" x 40" x 6" - 150 lbs
Love this basket. Sturdy, easy to install, super functional. Would never have another car without it.
Easily assembled in about 20 minutes. Sturdy construction and should last a lifetime. Lillian W. was very helpful and courteous through the process.

20x47 Reese Cargo Carrier for 1-1/4" Hitches - Steel - 300 lbs
This is great cargo basket: solid and secure, easy assembly, well designed. The angled neck keeps the basket well away from the ground; I haven’t had any problems with it bottoming out. My first use was actually on a trip back from Florida following Powered Paragliding training. I was intending to bring back just a Paramotor (which would have stood vertically inside the basket), but ended up bringing back a whole Trike assembly! Mounted it on the basket as shown, and it rode just fine back through four states. Got a lot of looks on the way home! I concur with an earlier reviewer that a neat trick is to use a stabilizer strap from the hitch to the corner of the basket. There is plenty of slop in the receiver when the neck is inserted, and a short ratcheting tie down cancels the rattle effectively. I’m very pleased with this purchase; and while I don’t plan to haul around anything as big as that trike, I look forward to many more years of use from it!
First look - not yet loaded up. Ordered this because the less expensive Curt (C18110) was out of stock. It seems like a worthwhile upgrade anyway, with rounded corners and better tie-down options. Finish seems high quality. Significant play exists in the hitch receiver (Curt C11276 - gap visible in photo) to the point that I ordered a hitch immobilizer and don't plan to test the carrier with a full load until that's installed.

Thule Pulse Medium Rooftop Cargo Box - 14 cu ft - Matte Black
Overall, we are pleased with this carrier. My husband and son installed it easily on my 2017 Honda Pilot, and I could still use my sunroof. The only noise was when it was empty and we hit one big bump. 99.9% of the time, it was not possible to detect the carrier was there. It did not seem to effect gas mileage either. It did not get 5 stars for the combination of price and quality. For the cost, I might have expected it to be a little less flimsy feeling, and a little more precisely constructed. However, once in use, these minor issues disappeared. We use it for luggage holding clothing, and it held 2 large pieces with room to spare. Overall, we are satisfied. However, do not forget you need space to store it when not in use !
I ordered the Thule Pulse medium rooftop cargo box. We did have a little delay in receiving the product beyond what was expected. When we ordered, we were advised it would ship in six weeks as it was back ordered This was okay for my needs. Then we received messages a couple times that pushed it out over a month longer. I contacted customer service and was advised it was due to the fact that the payment needed to be reauthorized as it had been too long. I explained I received an email when that happened and immediately took care of that. Apparently, according to the customer service person I spoke with, this pushed my order behind others that had ordered after I had. He did push things along and I fortunately received it before our scheduled trip. It was easy to mount to my wife’s Jeep Cherokee. It is very sturdy and easily accommodated our dogs bed and supplies and luggage for three of us for a four day trip. It was much quieter on expressway travel than I expected. And when we returned home it was very easy to remove and store. So the bottom line, customer service was helpful in resolving the delay issue, the product is of good quality and was exactly what we needed. Installation and removal was easy and storage space was sufficient. It was easy to position the box for easy passenger side loading and without interference with the lift gate.

SportRack Vista XL Cargo Box - Roof Mount - 18 cu ft - Black
We ordered the SportRack Vista XL Cargo Box and it was delivered in excellent condition. The box seems to be high quality but we were unable to use it because the car would not fit in the garage with the carrier attached. While I am disappointed that it did not work out for us, their customer service is EXCELLENT! They are sending me a shipping label to return it. Very grateful.
The sportrack vista xl is great! This was our first attempt at a roof mounted cargo box and it has preformed exceprionally well! I purchased this as a gift for my wife, to go on her Subaru Crosstrek. We live in western NC, and have used this to go to the outer banks of NC, eastern Tennessee, and even to bring home supplies from Sam's Club! It's super easy and quick to install, even for one person, and we've been fortunate enough to not have a single leak yet; even though we've been through heavy downpours! And there's plenty of room! If you're in the market for a rooftop cargo box this is the way to go.

Thule Sidekick Roof Mounted Cargo Carrier Box - U-Bolt Mounts - 8 Cubic Feet
This cargo carrier is perfect for our needs. Stacey with etrailer helped with ordering & any questions we had. The topper arrived quickly, we didn’t install immediately waiting on roof rack rails. A week or so later ready to install we noticed a rivet missing on the front lock… took pictures & emailed Stacey. She called back within hours & the next day a replacement was on the way….. We’d give 10 stars for her exceptional Customer Service! Thank you for exceeding our expectations!
It works great. Easy enough to put together and install/remove from the car. We were torn between this and slightly bigger model. Could have went bigger, but this freed a lot of space and made packing Tetris much easier.

Rhino-Rack Zenith MasterFit Rooftop Cargo Box - 14 cu ft - High Gloss Black
Had this for a year and drove 5,000 miles with it on a BMW X4 M40i.The look is great, the inside locking mechanism is just average, the opening and closing of the box can be difficult, and the shape design limits so many types of items. Looks: 5 stars Mechanics: 3.5 stars Capacity: 2 Stars (It is not just the cu ft but the way the inside is designed just makes it hard to fit so many items that one would normally haul in this box.) When using this box, you realistically need a whole new setup of luggage. I would suggest sturdy medium and small sized duffels. That would allow cargo to mesh within the awkward internal box. Opening and closing the box can be a chore as well. If you have this box loaded it can be a chore to get this box open and try different sides. Overall, the box has held up well and looks great but just the idea of most carbo boxes like this does give them some down sides. There are more squared off options out there that would be more practical. If you care more about appearance and aerodynamics, this is a good fit for you.
This was a great experience from start to finish. etrailer: After placing the order, I called regarding shipping and quickly got the answer to my question. The box shipped by ground freight, and arrived almost a week before the original scheduled delivery date. The Rhino arrived perfect with protective wrap, and all the required parts. Rhino Rack: This thing is awesome. Unless you jump up into the $1000+ price point, your rooftop carrier options are limited. My two requirements were to fit my skis (181 & 183 cm) and to allow my tailgate to open fully. The Rhino delivered! Bonus that both baby strollers fit as well (Instep baby trailer and Vista Uppababy). Only a week in, but so far the Rhino box and MasterFit clamps seem solid. The ratchet/locking mechanism on the clamps is just ok, you don't have to twist too hard to over power the lock or feel like you are stripping something internally. The hinges are beefy, but don't take up a ton of storage space. It opens from both sides, and you can't remove the key unless it's locked, which is nice for those of us that don't enjoy picking up our stuff on the highway. Also, if you're like me and spent way too much time on mr-box.com, you'll be pleased to know that this thing doesn't look lame. It's pretty sleek, somewhat low profile, with a touch of Euro. It's not too wide, even on the narrow rails of the A4 Allroad there's extra bar space. I could probably squeeze an upright kayak rack, small ski pinchers, or for the ten of us in the world that own RoadShowers...the RoadShower 4 fits no problem. I definitely recommend a Rhino from etrailer.

Thule Motion XT Alpine Rooftop Cargo Box - 16 cu ft - Black Glossy
I like the low profile and being able to open it from both sides. I wish the bottom were flat; it's hard to lay skis down on the binding for tie-down without them flopping over. Cannot mount on 2019 Jeep GC with factory roof rack without tailgate hitting it; wish there were a bumper option of some sort.
Everything was delivered to my garage as expected, safely packaged and loaded at my house, the Thule motion alpine is great looking and sturdy , I trust it with my skis, e-trailers free shipping beats everyone else charging $150++.”, and they kept me notified via email of shipping and tracking , great people to order from .

So it's going to be pretty difficult to kind of overload this thing, but always just make sure that you don't do so. It is going to be a steel design, that's what gives it that heavy weight capacity.

Curt 17x46 Hitch Cargo Carrier Review - 2018 Subaru Crosstrek
Hey everyone, Charles here at etrailer and today we're taking a look at the 17x46 Curt Cargo Carrier on a 2018 Subaru Crosstrek. This carrier is gonna be a great way to free up extra space in your vehicle for more passengers, pets, or more gear. Couple things I prefer about a hitch mounted cargo carrier vs a roof mounted one, is you can have more space for your kayaks or anything like that, fishing poles. It is an inch and a quarter, it also comes with an adapter to fit your two inch hitches. On the inch and a quarter, your weight capacity is gonna be 300 pounds and on the 200, or on the two inch hitch, it's gonna be 500 pounds. Just make sure you don't exceed the capacity of your hitch, your vehicle, or the cargo basket.
Carpod Hitch Cargo Carrier Review - 2016 Subaru Crosstrek

The part number for that is M2205. Now, one great feature about this rack are the walls. Because we can stack material all the way up the walls, it makes it easier to strap it down and secure it in place. You won't have to use as many straps to wrap around your material. Now, while we actually have this on our vehicle we're going to start off with a few measurements.

It's going to be about 14 1/4 inches. That is because we have that raised shank in the back, which is going to lift our carrier even higher than our hitch.
