Swagman XTC2 Bike Rack for 2 Bikes - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Frame Mount
First-time rack buyer / owner / installer. The rack arrived in a timely fashion, maybe a day or 2 ahead of schedule. It was well packaged. I’m LOVING this bike rack. It was easy to put together and to mount on my new Honda Passport. Thus far, no squeaks in my 2” receiver. Hardest part of initial set-up is figuring out the best way to position two bikes. Trial & error and some patience. The directions weren’t clear as to where the 2 left-over screws went. I found the answer in another review and have posted a pic in case others have the same problem (photo with pen pointing at screw). These screws go in the underneath side of both of the folding arms. They appear to keep the wheel wells from sliding off in case in you drive with an empty, un-folded rack, and forgot to tighten down the wheel wells. The folding arm push / pull pins can be difficult at times. I coated the tips with some lube. That and a little jiggling seems to solve that issue. I guess it’s better for the pins to be snug vs popping right out. I added a small Master lock to the hitch pin (in lieu of the provided cotter pin) as a theft deterrent. I read that a 3/16 shackle lock will fit into the bike clamp down arms to also act as a deterrent. I had an old 3/16 lock that did snugly fit and appeared to be locked. HOWEVER, I yanked on the lock and it came open as there isn’t quite enough clearance for the shackle to lock. I discovered that longer 3/16 shackle locks are hard to find. Have attached a photo of the lock that actually fits and works (Ace Hardware). One lock on the upper clamp down arm will secure both arms as the lower arm can’t be removed without removing the upper arm. The clamp down arms appear to be coated to prevent damage to your bike. I’ve tried a simple rag and ultimately settled on pool noodle pieces as a precautionary measure. I CAN NOT open my tailgate (regardless of whether or not the rack is fold up and in the bike carry position). If that’s a concern for you, then spring for the more costly titling version. My back-up camera still functions.
The Swagman XTC-2 platform bike carrier arrived very quickly from etrailer and in good shape, the actual carrier box is inside another shipper box, which I'm sure helped with its condition. Assembly was relatively quick and painless, even though the instructions could be a little more thorough. Installing the carrier on the back of our Jeep Patriot also was quick, it helps to have an extra ratchet & 3/4" socket laying around for just this purpose. Installing the bikes takes a little patience and trial and error the first time you try and put them on the carrier. It's easy enough to adjust the wheel holders to fit the wheelbase of your bikes, but for us at least, the challenge was trying to swing the vertical support bar up into position after putting on the first bike (closest to the Jeep). We couldn't angle the bike enough toward the Jeep to have the bar clear the bike. We learned that the easiest way to secure the first bike was to remove the ratcheting frame hooks altogether, put the bike in the carrier, swing up the vertical support bar, put in the pin, and then slide one of the frame hooks down on the bar. The outside bike is much easier because you can set the bike in the carrier at whatever angle you need, not being limited by the back of the vehicle. One thing we did to protect the bike frames was to use some foam pipe insulation as cushion between the frame hook and the frame (see pictures). Once you get a system for installing the bikes, it is very quick to load/unload them. The rack seems to be well made and doesn't wiggle excessively when traveling. All in all a good product for a good price, would definitely recommend it for anyone looking for a platform bike carrier.

Swagman XC2 Bike Rack for 2 bikes - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Frame Mount
I like the overall design of this rack, but unfortunately after hauling a couple bikes around for a while the point where the crossbar connects has apparently rounded off so the rack swings back and forth. I've used rope to tie the ends of the rack to the car to stop this from getting worse, but it's inconvenient. Note: the hitch connection itself is good and solid, but the point where the crossbar connects to the bar coming from the hitch has gotten loose and there's no way that I can see to tighten it.
It works great! Easy, quick, you know. One needs to screw in the hitch bolt, for some reason, before latching it. Other than that, it makes going bike riding way easier.

Thule Passage Trunk Bike Rack for 2 Bikes - Hanging Style
Excellent and prompt customer service! When I first ordered my product it wasn’t in stock— staff were quick to let me know and offered me comparable products. I ended up waiting for my original order and shipping quick and they stayed in touch with ideas! Thule: The instructions could be a little more detailed. I ended up watching YouTube videos to help me instal. Overall it was easy, and this was the first rack I’ve ever installed and I did it by myself! I was surprised to learn the bike rack is in no way secured inside your vehicle, so.. I store it in my garage when it’s on.
Positive: The product is well thought out and works for a wide range of automotive vehicles. It comes with interesting dampers that i think work. Instructions seem to be translated from another language, but are quite good, accompanying pictures make installation straightforward. A test drive over speed bumps shows that the rack will support the bike for all travel needs. It can be disassembled , collapsed and stored in the trunk. Downside: The rack is made for the classic triangular shaped frame: horizontal cross bar, "male" bike. For bikes without the horizontal bar, mounting is a little less satisfactory. Such a bike can only be mounted on the outside mounts. Cannot use the damper on one side. Picture shows the mounting. as to a design solution, maybe brackets could be replaced with smaller profile, some adjustability? however, as it is, vibration control is good and adjustability with smaller profile would have vibration concerns.

Thule Passage 3 Bike Carrier - Trunk Mount
Fits perfectly on our Lexus CT200h. Only on the old LS400, the side straps have to be fastened to the wheel arch edge, since the upper trunklid gap is to narrow for inserting the strap hooks. Mounting of two bikes is (with some routine) quickly done, and they stay safe even for longer and faster routes. For transporting three (mountain) bikes, though, the design doesn't seem big and robust enough. Nevertheless, the price-benefit-fun ratios are way better than reasonable.
We are very pleased with the quality and ease of use for our like-new purchase. From the online shopping experience with etrailer.com through multiple outings already, this bike carrier more than meets our needs. Thank you!

Hollywood Racks SR1 2-Bike Carrier - Spare Tire Mount
This HRSR1 bike carrier will not fit a 2023 Jeep Wrangler JL UNLESS you remove the stock Liddy Light and associated bracket. Upon discovering this, I was able to locate an aftermarket kit which allows for the relocation of the light to just above the rear camera. The kit was easily installed and the bike mount was installed just as easily as the directions explain. The new location of the light is partially obscured with the bikes mounted and, although not ideal, it is adequate and certainly better than total removal. I was unable to find any mention of this situation in the install instructions or reviews prior to purchase of the rack. I just wish I had been aware of this before purchase. I would have rated 5 stars for this product were it not for the slight hiccup. Kudos to etrailer. It is always a pleasure to do business with them. They are very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable.
It's sturdy even off-road, and it's simple to take on and off. I've had to use my spare tire twice since owning this rack, and although I have to remove my bike and loosen the bike rack bolts a bit, it comes off and goes back on with minimal effort, which is nice when you're on the Alaska Highway and it's snowing. I've carried my full-suspension bike on this rack for 35k miles all over the U.S. and Canada. I like how my bike fits close to the tire, where I lock it. My tailgate opens without the bike touching the side of my Jeep. Great bang for the buck.

Thule Hitching Post Pro Bike Rack for 4 Bikes - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches
The good: I like the way the bikes are held in and the ability to add the upright adapters to the bike frame holders. The straps are quality too. For a jeep with a spare tire, this is the perfect length to clear it. This rack is 5 stars from the bike holders to the base of it. The bad: the 2"receiver adapter and bolt are insufficient. I wish they made this in a solid 2" hitch. The entire setup is held into the receiver by a very short bolt. It only goes about half way into the receiver tube. So your hitch is only "secured" on one side. A hitch pin or bolt should go through the receiver tube completely imo so it can be secured on the other end with a retaining clip or nut. Because this only goes in the one side, the entire weight of the rack plus bikes are held tight to one side of the receiver by the undersized bolt and washer. A few bumps down the road and that bolt loosens. Now instead of distibuting the weight of the rack and bikes on the receiver and post, it's completely up to the bolt to keep you from losing the rack. The bolt threads get damaged too. I took this down a dirt road and nearly lost everything. I had to buy my own bolt with hd fender washers and lock washers to correct this. Thule should've provided this from the start. The current short bolt design where only one side of the receiver secures the rack is unacceptable. This rack is 1 star at best for the connection to the receiver.
Hitch pin broke before I got it. Looks like a poor design for the locking pin, they might want to consider a different design. I got a 3/8 shear pin from Home Depot to replace and it works great. Bike rack is great!

Swagman XTC4 Bike Rack for 4 Bikes - 2" Hitches - Frame Mount
So far I’ve just assembled it and took a quick test drive around the block. My initial thought is this thing is perfect. It’s super sturdy and easy to use. My only gripe and it’s not fault of the rack, but it’s heavy…
If you've done any research or read any of the other comments on either this rack, or this seller...rest assured they really are as good as everyone says! I ordered my rack on around 4pm est on a Friday afternoon and within an hour I received an email that said they have shipped my product AND upgraded to priority shipping. Can't say enough positive things about the customer service! When the rack arrived, it took me a little over half an hour to get it set up. Probably would e been faster if I were even slightly mechanically inclined (or if didn't I didn't have to borrow a socket wrench from my neighbor). We finally had an opportunity to load up the bikes and head out for a ride today. As others have said, the first time you load up your bikes, it's kind of like a puzzle to get them situated. Took about 15 minutes. This rack is awesome! Very sturdy and the bikes were very secure. Only racks I have had in the past were rooftop fork mount racks. This is so much easier! On e we got to the trail (over an hour drive) getting the bikes off was a piece of cake. Afterwards, it was time to load them back up and it was less than 5 minutes to get them all on and ready to hit the road. There were other 4-bike racks on the website, but this one had enough great reviews that I felt comfortable making the purchase. After the fact, I'm very glad I did! I can't imagine the $800 rack can be that much better than this, and I highly recommend this for anyone looking for a 4-bike platform rack. I will definitely recommend this rack and etrailer.com to everyone I know.

Yakima HoldUp Bike Rack for 2 Bikes - 2" Hitches - Wheel Mount
Works well for transporting two 29" wheeled mountain bikes. However, after one year it's starting to rust in several areas (see attached photos), and the front wheel arms are becoming increasingly difficult to raise and lower. Finally the locking cable is extremely rusty as you can see in the attached photo. I'm not sure how durable this rack will be long term.
We have had this bike rack for one year and use it every week-end. My wife has a Trek e-bike (52 lbs) and I have a regular Trek hybrid (23 lbs). The rack is very sturdy and I have no issues driving at highway speeds, there is no movement of the bikes. Very easy to load and unload.

Swagman Upright Bike Rack for 1 Bike - Roof Rack Crossbars - Frame Mount
Planning on bringing bikes while camping. I mounted 2 of the Swagman bike racks to my new Sportrack on my pop-up camper. The bikes fit perfectly. The racks seem sturdy enough. Not heavy duty, but for my needs they should be fine. Assembly was relatively fast and easy.
We have used the Swagman Roof Rack a number of times when we have needed the additional bike carrying capacity. It took a couple attempts to get the initial spacing of the bike rack properly balanced on the van’s roof rack as recommended by the instructions. But it was easy to do and once set was very easy and quick to put on and take off. The rack works great, the bike is easy to put into place and secure. The bike and rack are very stable and quiet and haven’t required any mid-trip adjustments. We always put the cheapest bike on the roof (lol) but do use a bit of duct tape to protect the finish just Incase. We are very satisfied with the rack and consider it quite a deal for the money.

Saris SuperClamp EX Bike Rack for 4 Bikes - 2" Hitches - Wheel Mount - Tilting
This bike rack is a tremendous value. Cheaper and just as good as comparable racks that cost twice as much. The rack has performed superbly. One caution: the manufacturer’s packaging is poorly designed, and insufficient to safely ship a 60+ pound bike rack. The steel parts of the rack shifted during transit and broke several molded plastic components. Saris’ customer service folks were excellent, and promptly sent replacements for the components that were broken in transit. The improper packaging was not etrailer’s fault. Saris should reengineer their packaging for this item.
This is great bike rack. It arrived fast and just in time for our trip in mid July. My husband and I put it together quickly, we looked at a [online] video for how to put it together and went by the instructions booklets. It took us under an hour to put it together. It is very simple to load and unload bikes on it and the bikes stayed stable throughout our 600 mile trip and back. So overall, I am very satisfied with this bike rack. Will now see how it holds up with time.

Swagman Trailhead Bike Rack for 4 Bikes - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Tilting
Quick and reliable shipping and was able to take to my mechanic to get it installed and it works perfectly with my bike rack!
This is a very solid product! I have used it for over a year now and love it! I have had up to 3 bikes on this without a problem and have traveled over 8 hours in the car one way with absolutely no issues. Many other bike racks like this one that I see on other cars look unstable this is not unstable in anyway. I did have to file some of the paint off of the rack to get it to fit in my 1 and 1/4" hitch but once that was done it has been perfect. I also bought the locking hitch bolt which is awesome too.
Swagman XTC2 TILT Bike Rack Review - 2023 Kia Sportage
How's it going neighbors This is Ed here with etrailer.com, and we're taking a look at the Swagman XTC2 Tilt bike carrier on our 2023 Kia Sportage. So the XTC is a frame-mounted bike carrier, and this also would. I would consider it to be an entry-level carrier. This is going to basically attach at the frame and your wheels to secure your bike to the frame. If you have a nicer paint job or if you have a bike that carbon fiber, that downward force wouldn't be ideal or a step-through bike, that could also cause issues as far as how you can secure it. You may wanna look towards other options.

Hollywood Racks Destination Bike Rack Review - 2023 Kia Sportage

So let's take a closer look at it. The way it sits up here is gonna have three points of contact. We're gonna have a strap per tire and we're gonna have this strap and pad that connect to the frame. Since it is making frame contact, I wouldn't recommend any carbon frame bikes.
RockyMounts Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2023 Kia Sportage
Hi, Matt with Etrailer. And today we're gonna be talking about the RockyMounts GuideRail bike rack on the back of a 2023 Kia Sportage. Now, today we have the two-bike version, but you can also get this as a three-bike version. So let's take a closer look at this. This is gonna be a great rack if you're looking at hauling a variety of different types of bikes. For one, we're gonna have this dual wheel mount system, and what that's gonna do is secure tires from either side, allowing you to carry any of those alternative carbon or bikes with fenders, while it's gonna have a 60-pound weight capacity, so we can even accommodate those heavy E-bikes too.

Hollywood Racks Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2023 Kia Sportage
Hi, everyone. Aiden here at etrailer. Today, we're gonna be taking a look at the Hollywood Racks' Destination two-bike rack and seeing how it fits on the back of our 2023 Kia Sportage. This is gonna be a pretty entry level hitch-mounted bike rack, and this is going to be a platform-style bike rack, which means the bike sits on top of the rack. That is my preferred way to carry a bike just because it's generally a little bit more accommodating. And the Destination, although it is a more entry-level option, is one of my personal favorites.
Swagman XC2 2 Bike Rack Review - 2023 Kia Sportage
Hi, Matt with etrailer. Today, we're gonna be talking about the Swagman XC2 Bike Rack for two bikes on the 2023 Kia Sportage. Now, I'd recommend this to anyone who's kinda getting into biking. This is a very entry-level platform style bike rack, maybe it's just you and a friend who go out, but I'd definitely recommend it to the beginners. The Swagman's gonna be able to hold two bikes, 35 pounds each, so it won't be able to accommodate those heavier e-bikes. And it's gonna have only one tie-down point, and that's gonna be on its frame with this hook here.
Thule Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2020 Kia Sportage
Rob: Everybody it's Rob here at etrailer.com. They we're to be taking a look at the Thule Helium 2 Bike Platform Style Rack, on our 2020 Kia Sportage. Now, I really like this rack mainly because it doesn't have any frame contact. So if you have a road bike with the carbon frame, like we have here, you definitely don't want a rack that does have any frame contact because it does put that extra stress on the frame. But it's still going to work out great for a lot of different styles of bikes as well. You can see that we're going to have two wheel hooks that's going to hold our bikes securely down into the trays that they're sitting on.
Hollywood Racks Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2020 Kia Sportage
Rob: Hi everybody, it's Rob here at etrailer.com. Today, we're going to be taking a look at the Hollywood Racks SE4 Bike Platform Style Rack on our 2020 Kia Sportage. Now, I really like the Hollywood Racks, mainly because of how versatile this rack is. It's going to allow us to carry up to four bikes, to and from the trail, and we don't have to worry about putting the bikes inside of our Sportage, or if you're like me, I don't really like the idea of a roof-mounted bike rack, just because I don't want to have to lift my bike that high and get that close to my car. So having a hitch-mounted bike rack is going to make it easier, and the fact that we can carry four is really nice. Now I know one of the big things that a lot of people wonder about with platform-style racks and all the other kinds of racks that are out there is, can you get access to the back hatch Because that's pretty important. We don't want to unload all of these bikes just to get something, and we can get in the back hatch.
Yakima RidgeBack Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2017 Kia Sportage

That's part number Y02457.I've already got it loaded up just to give you a good idea what it looks like and how it's going to hold our bikes. It actually holds our bikes with three straps, they're called ZipStrips. We've got two ZipStrips for our top tube and then one for our seat post tube. The one for our seat post tube is going to prevent sway in our bike, as well as bike to bike contact, bike to vehicle contact, and bike to bike rack contact. An interesting way how they work is they are a molded design. It's going to make them really easy to use compared to other straps.
Thule Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2017 Kia Sportage

Right away, you'll notice that it holds our bikes with zero frame contact. We've got a wheel hook going over our front wheel putting down pressure into the front wheel cradle. Now, this bike rack is a premium bike rack. It includes an integrated cable lock, which then goes through our frame and locks back into itself so no one can remove our bike.

Now this bike rack is available in a three bike rack version and that's part number TS03G. You can get either setup in either gray or black. Now I've already got my bike in position with it installed on my Sportage, just to give you a good idea of what it looks like and how it holds our bikes. Two great features is that it holds our bikes by the wheel, no frame contact, so that's a great feature if you've got a carbon fiber bike or a bike that you don't want any contact by the bike rack, or even if you've got a bike with an alternative frame style.Another great feature is it has the ability to tilt away from our Sportage with bikes loaded.

Speaker 1: Today on our 2017 Kia Sportage we're going to be doing a test fit on the Thule DoubleTrack Pro platform style two bike rack. That's Part Number TH9054. I've already got it loaded up on the Sportage with the bike loaded on the bike rack just to give you a good idea of what it looks like and how it's going to hold our bikes.Right away, one of my favorite things about this bike rack is that it is fat bike ready right out of the box. It'll hold fat bikes with a tire width up to 5" wide. One of the other things I like is how it holds our bikes. The clamp design will hold our bikes by their top tube, their down tube, or their seat post tube, so that's a really nice feature.

That's gonna be this rear wheel strap, which is adjustable to accommodate different size bikes, and this front skewer mount, which is gonna grip it by your fork mounts on your bike. This is lockable, so once this is installed, this will be secured to your bike rack as well. With everything installed as it is, we're not gonna have any issues of clearance between our rear hatch and the bike rack itself, as you can see here.

One great thing about this rack compared to others is that that handle is at the very back instead of towards the middle where you have to reach through your bikes. In this position, we'll check our hatch here.

Thule Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2015 Kia Sportage
Today on our 2015 Kia Sportage, we're going to be test fitting the Thule T2 Pro bike rack, part number TH9034. We already have a bike installed on the rack. Let's go ahead and take a closer look, and show off some of the features. Now the first and most important feature about this bike rack, is the fact that it can tilt away from the vehicle with the bike still attached. You just come up to the front here, and there's this gray handle that you push or pull towards yourself to release it. It's a lot nicer than some other racks, which will have the switches up towards the front, and make it a little more awkward to lower it.
Thule Trunk Bike Racks Review - 2015 Kia Sportage
Today on our 2015 Kia Sportage, we're doing a test fit of the Thule Raceway Pro Trunk Mount Two-Bike Rack. That part number is TH9001PRO. We already have our bikes secured down, we are first going to show you how we do that and then we'll go over some features of the rack itself. We have two cradles in place with three straps, two on our frame here and one as our anti-sway strap in the back. To release those we're just going to pull down and lift up, and be able to pull our bike off and set it off to the side. With our bike out of the way, I always suggest that you replace your straps so you don't lose or damage any of them. Now we'll take a few measurements here. We're going to do our overall first. Thule Passage Trunk Bike Racks Review - 2015 Kia Sportage
Today on our 2015 Kia Sportage we're doing a test fit of the Thule Passage trunk mount 2-bike rack. That part number is TH910XT. Now we already have our bike secured down. We're first going to show you how we do that, and then we'll go over some features of the rack itself. We have two cradles in place with three straps. Two on our frame and then one as our anti-sway strap in the back. We're going to pull down and lift up to release those, and then we can pull our bike straight off of our rack. With our bike out of the way, I always suggest that you replace your straps so you don't lose or damage any of them. Now we'll take a few measurements.
What our customers are saying:
"I ordered a trailer hitch and a bike rack carrier the order was shipped with in three days. To put the hitch on only took about 30 mins. only had to drill two 1/2 holes. fit like a glove."
