Roadmaster Falcon 2 Tow Bar Installation - 2013 Hyundai Elantra

Today on our 2013 Hyundai Elantra we'll be installing the Roadmaster Falcon 2 Tow Bar for 6000 pounds, part number RM-520. You can see this vehicle here already has the base plate system installed. It's one that has removable arms, and we'll be tying in with these removable arms. Each of the arms has holes that'll line up with the quick disconnect plate. To install each of these quick disconnect plates, we'll need to take the plate, making sure that we pay attention to the right and left, or the passenger or driver side, as they are side-specific. Next we'll go ahead and take one of the bolts, which is 1/2 inch by an inch and 3/4 long, and put it through the safety plate, then through the quick disconnect, and then through our mounting bracket on our base plate. On the back side of the mounting bracket, we'll then put a flat washer, followed by a lock washer, followed by the nut. We'll repeat this for all four mounting locations, two on each side, again making sure that we pay attention and put the driver's side quick link on the correct side as well as the passenger side on the proper side. Now that we have all the hardware installed loosely, we'll go ahead and take our quick disconnect cross bar, set it in place, and make sure that it goes on easily as well as comes back off. You'll notice that there's a pin in the bottom of the quick disconnect plate that lines up with the hole in the quick disconnect bracket as well as slides on top of the vertical pin on top of the quick disconnect bracket. Once you have the cross bar lined up where you want it, we'll go ahead and set it off.
