really like how well built the hitch is. It's heavy to lift but manageable. Head can be easily separated from frame by removing both quick pins to lift out of truck in 2 pieces. I plan on installing an electric hoist from Harbor freight in my garage to lift hitch in and out of truck in one piece. Definitely would recommend this hitch to anyone.
great product had a patriot before this was a half hour job just had to adjust locking levers, maybe B&W should leave out the cotter pins so there not all bent after we take out to adjust. like the 2 pieces I can pic up with ease

Solid hitch, fedex damn near destroyed the box it came in though.
Received the order just a few days after ordering. Packaging was a little beaten up but everything was there. Had to adjust the pre-assembled handles that connect to the truck bed. They were just too tied (Ford F350 DRW). Otherwise assembly was easy. Took me only about an hour including the adjustment. Looking forward to put it to work on a 45 feet 5th wheel RV trailer.

The Quality of hitch was great! My only issue is the lock washers for 1/2 diameter bolts are too soft and the internal diameter to large. The Lock washers would open as the torque was applied. We ended up using metric 12 mm lock washers. They fit the bolt shank tighter and did not spread during the install.
This has been a fantastic hitch for our setup. So easy to install in my truck, easy to hook/unhook, and has kept its brand new finish look to it. Would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a tough hitch.

Well built fifth wheel hitch. Haven't got a chance to tow our new Montana High Country 295RL. But I know a guy that has towed his fifth wheel with this same hitch. I'm sure this 18K hitch will be excellent! Or I wouldn't have bought it. I recommend e trailer for everything.
Item works exactly as described. I have a shortbed (6.5') Ford F350. Probably towed our 5th wheeler 5000+ miles with no problem. Then last year it happened! We were making a sharp turn in an uneven lot and POW, the 5vr hit the rear window and it exploded. After that I became gun shy about turning with the 5vr attached so I started looking at sliding hitches. A slider that you had to get out and unlatch to make work, didn't make sense to me. At what point do you get out? So, an auto slider hitch was purchased. Now when I get to a certain degree turn the auto-slide hitch moves back in its carriage and then auto-slides to the normal location once straightened out. Not gun shy anymore. Pro: Well packaged Well made Easy install It WORKS. Cons: Price Very heavy Some clunking after it straightens out from a turn

Very high quality product. Used on a extended cab short bed F250 and the sliding mechanism provides plenty of clearance between the Fifth Wheel front and the truck's cab. Fits Ford's factory fifth wheel bed mount holes perfectly. Used to tow a 42' fifth wheel regularly. Foot print is small enough to allow me to retain my tool box in the truck during towing. The hitch is heavy! Do not plan to try to install with one person with out an engine hoist or gantry crane. Two strong people can, but extreme caution should be taken as the hitch weighs nearly 300lbs and is awkward.
I have a F350 Super Duty Short bed. This slider works as expected. The ease of backing or tight turns makes this product excellent without the need to pulls pins for extension. I can remove or install in 7 minutes without a problem without any assistance. I am pulling a 44 foot trailer and have not experience any chucking or sway even in windy conditions. Tows very smoothly

I wanted to be able to easily utilize my truck bed and this hitch provides that in spades! Easy to remove and install. I absolutely have to give a shout out to Paula on customer service. She was amazing! My first shipment was damaged and missing a vital part. Paula had another one shipped right away and made my return shipment a breeze. She stayed in contact with me to the end. I felt like she shared in my joy once the install was complete! The hitch is super adjustable for optimal placement in the bed and height of the trailer. Make a few quick measurements and it just goes together quickly. Love the dual jaw release lever. Our last 5th wheel hitch had the standard pull to release lever and it was often very difficult to operate. This lever style is a game changer. Overall, I couldn't be more pleased with the product and customer service!
Great design and sturdy! I just is on a 2021 ram 2500 6.4 8' bed installing when great, nothing a single person can't handle. I would recommend to anyone.

Short version: Product is fine. Etrailer shipping is laughable at best. First off, as far as the hitch goes, its a Curt product. Quality is great, it'll work just fine. At least the portion of the hitch that has arrived.... Dealing with Etrailer on the other hand has been a big disappointment. I specifically ordered this hitch from Etrailer because of the estimated delivery times. I needed the hitch prior to a weekend (for reference, the 20th) to move a trailer and the estimated delivery time was three days prior (the 17th) to that weekend. AFTER the order was placed, the estimated delivery became the 19th, a friday.... okay, so my two day buffer was gone but it was still projecting to be here in time. Friday rolls around and nothing delivers. On the following Monday (the 22nd), one of two packages arrives in awful condition. Absolutely destroyed box, patched together with sections of cardboard and staples, and wrapped in tape, styrofoam all broken up... fortunatley its a beefy hitch and did not have anything other than cosmetic damage. A 110lb hitch in a cardboard box. You think a company shipping a 100+lb hitch would take measures to protect their products a bit better. I called etrailer and they said they would look into the missing portion of the shipment with UPS and get back to me. Should be quick right? Wrong. I took the liberty of calling UPS directly to see if they could update me. Only 11 minutes on hold and they informed me they did not know where the package was and would start a claim. Okay... stuff happens. Figured I would call etrailer and take next steps. I call etrailer back and they said they cant do anything until they hear back from UPS... I talked to UPS in 11 minutes so I'm not sure what they're waiting on. I asked if they would send me a separate set of legs (the missing package) so I could get this trailer moved, and they refused to do so until UPS responds to them (I guess etrailer cant make phone calls, email only). I should have went with my gut and ordered elsewhere. Oh well. I know where to NOT take my business now. Package your products better and provide realistic estimated shipping times.
This hitch is much easier than my Pullrite, and a lot less weight. I'm a newbie with 5th wheels and I really love this hitch.

I received two packages and one package was damaged BUT no damage to components inside. I put the hitch together and installed it in truck everything was in boxes and there was no damage or scratches on all components. I haven't towed my rig yet BUT I did couple & uncouple it, everything seems smooth and really quiet couldn't even hear when it latched so for very impressed can't wait to tow. I give it a 4 star rating only because I haven't towed yet will be back in touch.
Hitch has worked great so far. Install took about 10 minutes in the Ford puck system. Height adjustment took about 2 hours, I started with the hitch at the top position, then moved to bottom, then moved to 2nd from the top for final. You just won't know where you want it until you hook up, tow it a mile, come back on level ground and check where you are at. Don't forget to retorque the bolts once a year, have had zero problems with hitch after a year. One thing of note, if you uneven raise/lower sometimes the hitch latch will not lock/unlock. if this happens, make sure your coach is as level as you can get it at the front. (3,500 miles towed, F450, Pinnacle 18k, tandem tow Seaark 2,400 lbs)

Delivery was quick and assembly was easy enough. I give it 4 stars instead of 5 because the jaws won't open consistently to unhitch without moving the truck back and forth. This is compounded when not on level ground. I had to pry the jaws apart to get them to open. My previous Curt hitch did not do this unless the truck and camper were very uneven.
Great experience. Called etrailer to ensure I had selected the proper 5th wheel hitch for my F-250 with OEM goose neck puck system. Hitch arrived earlier than expected in perfect condition. Installation was very simple (you will need a torque wrench at least 100 ft pounds). Coupling / uncoupling very smooth and positive color indicator very helpful.

I've had this hitch for a year now and used it 5 times so far to pull my 38' RV. Works great and easy to get in and out of my truck bed.
Very well-built hitch. I ordered the A16 with legs to fit the Ford OEM puck system. Came with a hardware pack that was missing flat washers and lock washers. Despite what etrailer will say, you WILL need flat washers and lock washers to connect the legs to the mid-section of the hitch. The bolts thread directly into the legs and the supplied lock nuts are completely useless. Do yourself a favor and run over to the hardware store to pick up flat washers and lock washers before you attempt to assemble. Would have given 5 stars if the hardware was correct...

Demco UMS Double Pivot 5th Wheel Hitch - Single Jaw - Ford Super Duty Prep Package - 21K
Hitch is nice and makes me feel more comfortable being a more novice RV'er with the large steel bar that acts as a secondary safety, unlike one of the other big brands that just has teeth that close around the pin. Assembly took a couple hours of blood and sweat even though it really is very easy.... You have to make time to torque about 20 or so bolts, but that's pretty typical of anything you plan to drop up to 21k pounds on and jerk around all over the country. Install into/out of the truck bed is now a 5 minute project thanks to a block and tackle in the garage ceiling. Extremely easy to put in or remove as long as you have an overhead weight bearing device of some sort. Beyond my experience with dragging a 17k pound RV with it, the mfgr is VERY responsive if you call for help. I was missing 1 washer upon assembly and the sticker decal was damaged in shipping but the MFGR had new ones in my mailbox in 2 days at no charge. They are also VERY good on tech support. The only caution I have on this is make 100% sure you know what grade bolts you have and what you should torque them to. Novice mistake: I rated the bolts based on the chart in the instruction guide but I rated on head size, not the diameter and thus I over-torqued. Luckily I did not have the means to torque to the actual higher spec or I would have snapped them at 250ft-lbs. If you have any questions on correct torque, call the mfgr and as for tech support! As for usage experience: Carry a long stick with you. We end up on crooked camping sites frequently and the only issue is that while this hitch moves ALOT to accommodate, sometimes you may get up under the pin-box and you just can't get the hitch to snap shut. Having a long stick on-board will let you push on the spring-loaded part and cause it to snap closed. One last thing from experience: lube, lube, lube. Keep the thing lubed as per the manual and do not be stingy with it on the parts that slide and grab your king-pin. It helps out drastically in getting it to snap closed on the 1st try. As for lubing the top plate, everyone is using those plastic lube discs these days. They work fine BUT: They WILL cause you a bit of grief in getting the pin exactly where it needs to be to snap closed on occasion. The hitch has enough wiggle room to accomodate them but it is not 'designed' for it, so once you're 1/4" higher out of the hole than spec, sometimes you will have to play with it to get it shut. If you ever find yourself just TOTALLY unable to get it to close on the pin, put your jacks back down and pull out from under your trailer. I totally destroyed one of those plastic discs a week ago and spent 40 minutes fighting and cussing at the thing b/c it wouldn't close on my pin far enough to put the safety pin in the handle... I finally yanked the hitch out from under the trailer and I had caught the lube disc at an angle on the 1st try and it had ripped a gash in in. That extra misplaced material up under there was preventing me from being able to secure the pin. Aggravating: Yes. But I kinda like it. You will KNOW that there is an issue with your current hitching job with this thing. It can be unforgiving at times but when I have $80k of truck and $110k of RV depending on it, I'd rather it be unforgiving and tell me in a loud voice: "You screwed up your mount attempt, try again" than to get to the end of an entrance ramp and have the trailer come down on the truck bed. If I had to buy one again, I'd buy the same one.
Very simple install. Very well built unit. Had to remove 1 shim on 3 of the feet because the handles were way too tight. Had ro use a rubber mallet to turn them at first. After removing the shims, it is perfect. I purchased a small master lock to replace one of the cotter pins for the safety pins so that noone steals the hitch. No noise while driving with just the hitch installed at all. I have not had a chance to tow anything as of yet--- pick up my 40' 5er wed! Seems to be a very well made, good looking, compact hitch. This was installed in a 2018 F350 long bed dually woth the oem under bed puck system.

I gave it 4 stars only because I haven't experienced the operational aspects of the 5th wheel hitch yet. That will happen in the coming months when we put the hitch to work. The packaging was a little beat up but all the pieces were in great shape and the nuts and bolts were there. The assembly went well, directions are easy to follow step by step. The only issue I had was with the 4 bolts that connect the plate assembly to the slider assembly. They were in an award place which made it somewhat difficult to start all 4 and tightening them without the correct tool. You really need a ratchet wrench to snug them up. I couldn't get to them with my 1/2" torque wrench to I used blue lock-tight a long with the supplied lock washers and hand tightened them the best I could which should be fine, I'll check them along with the other 8 on the slider assembly after a couple of trips to make sure all is good. There is some timely maintenance you need to pay attention to, that I haven't experienced on other hitches but it's no big deal. From a construction standpoint, it's well built, I like the cast pieces, not alot of welds to worry about or check on from time to time. The slider assembly is well thought out and works as it should with a fool proof locking mechanism. The double jaws should provide ample clamping power. The pivoting head also appears to be well thought out and should provide plenty of tilt for those award hookups you find yourself in from time to time. So far I'm please with the equipment and the price I paid for it. Not to mention FREE SHIPPING. Your definitely getting your money's worth in a sound, well built 5th wheel hitch assembly.
A great price shipped fast via freight. No issues with broken boxes as many others have mentioned. First fifth wheel for me, assembly and install into the factory Ford pucks was amazingly easy. Do not know for certain if the slider will be necessary for our new Arctic Wolf camper. We may swap out for stationary legs if we can get away with it. I love etrailer!

Reese M5 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch for Ford Towing Prep Package - Single Jaw - 20,000 lbs
The Hitch worked properly the first couple of times I hooked up to my fifth wheel but after that it got to where the cheep plastic indicator that goes from red to green when the hitch is properly connected/closed would not go to green. Meaning that the latch was not properly going around the trailer pin all the way. After constantly having issues with the device, I removed the plastic indicator and it worked a lot better for awhile but now it’s back to being a constant problem every time I hook up. Almost every time I try to hook to the camper, the coupler only goes part of the way around the pin. The only way I can get it to connect properly is to get in the back of the truck with a pry bar and steal bar and hit the coupler or pry it to make it go into position. I’ve tried adjusting the position of the wedge several times and nothing seems to help. I gave it 2 stars only because I like the way the hitch pivots at the camper instead of on the fifth wheel because I have a short bed truck. If the hitch would connect properly it would be a great product. The only other issue I’ve had was when I was traveling and came to an intersection where the road I was on was at an angle to the road I was turning right onto. There was a dip/low area where the roads connected. It was a swell that allowed the rain water to flow from one side of the road to the other. When I went through the swell and turned right as the rear tires of the truck went down it caused the front of the camper to tilt down and the front of the truck because it was past the swell went up. Because the truck was in a sharp turn the camper made contact with the cab of the truck causing a small dent in the back of the truck cab near the cargo/brake light and scrubbed the paint off the corner of the camper about the size of a quarter. I would like someone from Reese to assist me with the issue I’m having with there hitch not connecting properly.
Overall, the M5 hitch is solid in build and performance. I like the green indicator window showing positive latching plus unlatching, even under some pressure, is easy. The latch handle is an easy reach but the upward pointing handle with hole in the plastic grip collects water inside. Consequently, the steel tube handle interior rusts which drips rusty water while still and flings the staining water when latching.

2005 Dodge Quad Cab Dully , Cedar Creek 36 ckts 16k very nice hitch , shipped relay fast 3 days to east coast, easy to install : had rails from old hitch, it did come a LITTLE scratched up from shipping . one thing i wish it had more height / it does sit lower than old hitch buy 1 inch. haven't tried pulling yet / will up date latter . hope it pulls as good as it looks. now no problem for bigger trailer, i hope! maybe a toy hauler?
I purchased a higher rated (weight) Curt hitch to prevent 'rolling' forward during hard stops. The new hitch far exceeds my trailer weight but I continue to have the problem, although not as often. I had the new hitch professionally installed.

6000 miles towing this year; loaded trailer weight 16,480 lbs (based on CAT scale weight tickets). Hitch is awesome. Very secure with no noticeable chucking. I can remove and install this hitch by myself. The two pieces are very manageable. My fifth B&W hitch over the years; 2 turnover ball goosenecks and 2 tow & stows. Quality hitches which I recommend highly.
Packaging could be better but was still all intact, just the boxes aren’t quite heavy enough to shipping company’s to throw around (like they do) I have a fuel cell in my bed as well, hitch fit great and I just cut down the front locking twist handles to clear my tank

Reese M5 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch for Ford Towing Prep Package- Single Jaw - 27,000 lbs
The hitch came in 3 separate packages, all in the same delivery. Each package came with parts documents, care and assembly instructions. I did the assembly alone. Assembly was fairly easy, just cumbersome due to weight. During assembly, I believe the instructions have the center bolt inserted from the outside; not possible to clear the leg frame so I had to finagle the nut while inserting the bolt from the inside. I initially assembled the hitch unattached to the truck bed. When complete, I could not get the pucks to align with holes in the bed. I loosened the legs, set in the bed and tightened the bolts, which then made for a perfect fit. I have my hitch set to the highest setting for ensured bed rail to camper clearance; might lower later on. The hitch is easy to use; no issues connecting or disconnect the camper. I did have to replace the fifth wheel to base hitch pin clips with shorter ones because when the camper tilted, the clips got bent (unknown to me, the clips went vertical and could not clear the tilt of the fifth wheel and base). Wasn't a big deal to me, but could present an issue if not recognized. It is possible for the pins to contact the base as well. I use a neoprene or plastic disc on the hitch so I don't have to grease the wheel; makes for a clean and easier removal /installation. But as you can see, there are gouges/scratches just from normal connecting and disconnecting. I remove the fifth wheel from the base when removing/installing hitch just to reduce weight. Even without the wheel, the base assembly is still heavy. Overall, I think this is a good hitch; with that being said, this is the only brand fifth wheel hitch I've ever used and this one here is the only brand fifth wheel hitch I've ever owned.
Talk about disappointment, ordered this in early October to replace a curt q20 slider hitch I had on a previous truck. It arrived well enough considering how heavy the parts are. There was no obvious signs of damage, install was relatively simple enough. Early November rolls around and we are going to be moving our 5th wheel, I go to hook up to measure clearances of bed rails etc. It turned into a multi-hour ordeal. Backing in following the directions allowing the pin to slide up to the hitch it binded in a spot where I was unable to release it(pictures attached), after spending quite a while raising all the weight of the truck moving backwards and forward with it partially latched trying to get it to move some way I was finally able to get it released by using a crow bar to push the jaw open and drive the truck out. So now I need to find out the problem I fully reset it back to its receiving position with the handle in the latched but not locked position. Try again, the exact same thing happens. So I took the head of to experiment and see if it will slide on to the king pin maybe there is another issue I'm not noticing, works well and fully seats with the green indicator but again doesn't release without using a crow bar on the jaws. Now mind you I fully lubed this as the instructions state, even using the needle grease gun attachment, so I didn't think that was the issue. Still decided more lubrication couldn't hurt the situation, I used dry lithium grease everywhere, moving every part that can move while doing it. Hooked it back to the truck, success, well partially. Got a full seat of the king pin with the handle in a very not latched position got it moved in to the correct area and after a few thumps it allowed me to seat the safety pin. Try and hook it up again, now the arm doesn't fully close when attached to the king pin. At this point we get it off again, having to use a crow bar, and notice the internal latch that locks the arm in the safe or unsafe position is lose and one of the springs had come off, thankfully it didn't get lost as its about 2in long and small. At this time its been almost 3 hours of frustration. I spend another hour getting the tiny spring reattached in what seems to be the correct position(unable to find a diagram of the internal springs online). Go to hook it up again, this time we get a full successful latch and the locking arm perfectly closes and allows the safety pin, but alas we are still unable to unlatch the 5th wheel without moving the jaw with a crowbar. I have never had such frustration with something that's so critical to the ability of me to tow my 5th wheel. I am unsure if I can trust it to work correctly.

I have ran a cheap competitor hitch for several years. A manufacturing defect (welded pivot pin) caused the hitch to fail and resulted in 18000$ damage to my truck and trailer. I chose the Curt 25000# hitch after much research and found it to be very well made and clearly shows when it is properly coupled. It is quiet and operates with minimal klunking and chunking going down the road. Overall I am very pleased.
Mounted this hitch on my flatbed 3500 Ram and the hitch works flawlessly. Pull 44' tri-axle weighing in at 23,000# with ease. Very easy to use and understand, very easy to maintain.

From the start,the folks at etrailer were very courteous and helpful. I called many times during the decision making process and everyone was always right there to help. When I finally decided to purchase the B&W 18K Patriot w/slider Bailey was there to help with the order. She explained the free freight shipping and it was a done deal. It arrived 1 day earlier than stated, as soon as I opened the cartons it was in fact the good ol' American made quality I was accustomed to growing up. I proceeded to install on the B&W rails I purchased and installed locally on my 2022 F250 Lariat/ Tremor.I had a small hick- up with the install and etrailer gave me B&W's # as they like to handle issues themselves. Stephanie at B&W was just as courteous. Overall a very pleasant experience. The Patriot was basically plug and play. I then connected my 2021 Grand Design 303RLS Reflection and rolled down yhe road. So far so good. Hitch appears to be good quality. It was easy to install after installing the mounting kit. I haven't used it yet so I can't comment on how it handles when pulling a camper.

Hey, everyone, Ryan here at etrailer. Today, on our 2023 Ford F-350 Super Duty, we're gonna be checking out the B&W Fifth Wheel Trailer Hitch for vehicles that have the OEM prep package. So it's pretty cool that Ford and other manufacturers at that started equipping some of their vehicles with the prep packages right from the factory. It makes it super convenient to use a fifth wheel-type hitch like the B&W or even a gooseneck for that matter, considering everything's kind of ready to rock and roll. You essentially just take the hitch and drop it into place. This particular hitch is going to be fixed, meaning it's not gonna slide or anything along those lines.

Hey, everyone, Ryan here at etrailer. Today, on our 2023 Ford F-350, we're gonna be checking out the B&W Companion Fifth Wheel Hitch for trucks that have the OEM prep package. So I think it's really cool that not only Ford, but some of the other manufacturers of these late mile trucks are starting to put the prep package in right from the factory. And so if you have that, it's gonna make setting up a fifth wheel, or even a gooseneck hitch for that matter, extremely easy since essentially, these just drop right into place. So right off the bat, this is gonna be a fixed-style hitch, meaning you're not able to slide it back. And so ideally, you're gonna want to use this style in a truck that has a long bed, and that's because with that longer box, you're gonna have more clearance referring to the cab.

Curt Q20 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch with Slider Installation - 2019 Ford F-350 Super Duty

Today on our 2019 Ford F350 Super Duty, we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Curt Q20 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch with slider assembly, and this is gonna work with that Ford factory prep package. A lot of newer trucks nowadays are coming with shorter and shorter bed lengths and that can cause some issues with your stationary style 5th wheels and that's due to clearance. So with that shorter bed, the front of your 5th wheel trailer is gonna be closer to the cab of the truck. So in particular, for example, whenever you go to turn, since we're a little bit closer, you can have some issues with your trailer actually contacting the bed of your truck or the cab and damage it. So to alleviate that problem, we're actually going to be able to slide the 5th wheel closer to the back of the truck and provide us with that clearance we need.

This hitch is going to have a 25,000-pound gross trailer weight, and a 6,250-pound vertical load limit, which is straight up and down.It's going to give us two points of articulation, front to back and side to side. Today on our 2018 Ford F three 50 Super Duty, we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Curt Q series line of fifth wheel trailer hitches with slider for the Ford Towing Prep package. More and more nowadays we're seeing trucks that have shorter than eight foot beds on those which comes in a problem when we go to towing the fifth wheel, 'cause we want our hitch to be on the forward side of our rear axle, but that ends up putting our trailer extremely close to our cab. That's where our slider's gonna help out. When it comes time to make those tight turns, we can come to this vertical handle here on this side, we'll pull it out, rotate it back, and that'll allow the hitch to slide back a full 12 inches giving us more clearance to go around the turn. And we'll lock into position so we can make that turn without fear of hitting our truck. And then whenever we need to go in a straight line again and we're ready to tow, simply pull that handle out again, rotate it again and our hitch will slide back and lock into the towing position.

And this is what our Patriot looks like when it's installed. It does just drop right down into your base rails and pin in place. We are using B&W's base rail kit but you can use another manufacturer's base rail kit and still use this fifth wheel hitch.
