Hey, everybody. Welcome to etrailer.com. I'm Bobby, and today we're taking a look at the Yakima HighRoad Roof-Mounted Bike Carrier here in the bed of our 2021 Ford F-250. So obviously this isn't gonna be our only way to actually mount up our carrier here. We do have it in the bed of our truck, and I highly suggest finding yourself a bed rack system to go ahead and actually utilize it here in the bed of your truck. And why I say that Well, obviously our cab is pretty tall and it's gonna take a pretty big effort to have to get on top of it over and over again, let alone getting your bike mounted up and then taking it down.



Thule Truck Bed Bike Racks Review - 2020 Ford F-250 Super Duty

Hey guys, John here from etrailer.com. Today, we have a 2020 Ford F-250. We're going to be taking a look at the Thule GateMate Pro tailgate bike pad.This is an alternative to just tossing our bikes in the truck bed, or installing a bike rack in our hitch. The benefit of using this, as opposed to just having our bikes standing in there on their own, is that this is going to hold them a little bit more secure. They're not going to Jostle around as much. Plus, it's going to keep them more organized.



Swagman Pick Up Truck Bed Bike Racks Review - 2018 Ford F-250 Super Duty

Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 Ford F-250 Super Duty, we're going to be test fitting the Swagman pick-up truck bed mounted 2-bike rack, part number S64702. The Swagman pick-up, straight out of the box, can carry up to two bikes in the bed of your truck. Now you can purchase an additional fork block mount to make this a 3-bike rack, if you have the space.This bike rack is good for the occasional use. Whether you want to take your road bikes out for a spin, or if you want to take your mountain bikes to the top of the trail. This is also good for people who don't necessarily have bike racks, or necessarily want to purchase bike racks for their hitches.This features a telescoping arm, which enables it to fit a wide variety of truck bed widths. This does install easily, and comes with some security features as well.



SeaSucker Falcon Truck Bed Bike Rack Review - 2018 Ford F-250 Super Duty

Speaker 1: Today in our 2018 Ford F250 Super Duty, we're going to be test fitting the SeaSucker Falcon Truck Bed Bike Rack for fork mounts, part number 298-BF1002. The SeaSucker Truck Bed Bike Rack is a fast and efficient way to carry up to one bike, by its forks, to either the top of the trail with your mountain bike, like you see here, or just heading out with your road bikes as well. This also works with bikes with disc brake adapters, also. Most people are going to be apprehensive about the fact that this uses a suction cup mount to stick to the back of the glass here. As you can see, shaking it back and forth, this is not going to go anywhere while you're traveling.It does grip it by your fork mounts with this 9-mm skewer at the front here. It just simply clamps into place, and you're good to go.



Swagman Patrol Truck Bed Bike Rack Review - 2018 Ford F-250 Super Duty

Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 Ford F250 Super Duty we're going to be test fitting the Swagman Patrol 2 Bike Rack for truck beds. Part number S64701.The Swagman Patrol 2 enables you to carry up to two bikes by their fork mounts in the rear of your truck. You can carry them by the fork mounts, or you can actually have these adapted for through axle bikes as well.To switch these out from the skewer mount that you see here to the through axle mounts, you would remove the bike completely, loosen up this screw, remove the inside and replace that through axle adaptor through at that point and then retighten that screw.The adapters that come with it can fit 15 mm through axles. It can also accept 20 mm through axles with an adapter. Part number S64715, which is sold separately.This uses a telescoping end here and this is going to help it fit varying truck bed widths with this knob to tighten down on the side of it, to keep it held in place. It does come with a series of locks that are key to life to help secure this to your truck bed once it's installed as well.It also has these padded ends here, so once you place it onto the bed rails, it's not gonna scratch or scuff up your truck once it's installed.It also has this latch on the inside here.



Swagman Truck Bed Bike Racks Review - 2018 Ford F-250 Super Duty

Speaker 1: Today we have our 2018 Ford F250 Super Duty. We're gonna be test fitting the Swagman Tailwhip tailgate padded bike rack for full-size trucks, part number S64760. It's great for carrying anything from your bikes to your surfboards or stand-up paddle boards for transporting them from one place to another.Now, what sets this apart from other bike racks, you can just throw this over the edge of your tailgate here, and this is for people who maybe don't have the hitch bike racks or don't want to necessarily drill into the bed of their truck for the fork-mount bike racks as well.This can carry up to five bikes or a couple stand-up paddle boards or surfboards. This has several points to tie down your gear, and also comes with hook-and-loop straps to secure your bikes. With the surfboard, we did use a strap, which is sold separately, and you can find it on etrailer.com.The tailgate pad is nice and thick, so it's not only gonna protect your tailgate from any scratches or abrasions, it's also gonna protect your gear that you're hauling to make sure it doesn't get any scratches on it as well. And even with everything installed, you still have plenty of space in the truck bed to store other gear.We also have this convenient flap at the front here, which has these hook-and-loop straps to hold it in place, so we have easy access to our hatch here.



Thule Truck Bed Bike Racks Review - 2018 Ford F-250 Super Duty

Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 Ford F250 Super Duty, we're gonna be test-fitting the Thule bed rider two bike rack for truck beds, part number TH822XTR. The Thule bed rider two allows you to carry up to two bikes in the bed of your trick by gripping them by the fork mounts up front here. This is an ideal bike rack for those who don't have bike racks or don't necessarily wanna go through the tailgate pad situation on the back here and possibly block off the rear camera. This essentially clamps down to the inside of the bed of your truck, has two fork mounts for different styles of bikes. It can carry the road bikes like you see here or the mountain bikes. It also works with bikes with disk brakes as well.This does come with three of the Thule lock cores.

Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 Ford F250 Super Duty we're gonna be test fitting the Thule instigator truck bed single bike rack, part number TH501. Thule instigator allows you to carry one bike in the bed of your truck, and it's gonna carry bikes regardless of their suspension style or style of the bike itself, whether it be mountain bike like you see here or road bike, or kid's bike even. It's a ratcheting style bike rack that clamps around the tire and slides into place and holds it in as you drive. The hook itself does have a padding around it to help protect your bike once it's being installed, and also it does have an open spot on the bottom here that you can utilize the Thule lock core, which is sold separately, so you can secure your bike to the bike rack while you travel. This has a quick trigger release here to make loading and unloading very easy.With one instigator installed here, as you can see there's plenty of space to add another, as well as another bike. This bike rack is ideal for someone who may not already own a bike rack and wants to use this for occasional purposes.



Softride Truck Bed Bike Racks Review - 2018 Ford F-250 Super Duty

Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 Ford F250 Super Duty we're going to be test fitting the SoftRide Shuttle Pad Tailgate Bike Carrier for full-sized pickup trucks, part number SR26457. The SoftRide Shuttle Pad is great for transporting your mountain bikes up to the top of the trail or your surfboards and stand up paddle boards out to the beach. It simply hangs around your existing tailgate.It has this nice padded section here to help protect your bikes as well as your vehicle from any scratches or abrasions. And also, this is going to be perfect for people who don't have, say, the hitch bike racks for your truck, or don't necessarily want to do any drilling or modifications to the bed of your truck to carry your bikes from place to place as well. The Shuttle Pad also comes with these hook and loop straps at various points here to help hold your bikes in place. This can carry up to six bikes on this pad.



Inno Truck Bed Bike Racks Review - 2018 Ford F-250 Super Duty

Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 Ford F250 Super Duty, we're going to be test-fitting the Inno-Velo Gripper Bike Rack for truck beds, part number INRT201. The Inno-Velo Gripper enables you to carry up to one bike in the bed of your truck. You can place it on either the passenger side or the driver's side, depending on which one you want, or you can buy an additional set and have up to two bikes in the bed of your truck.With it installed right now, you can see we still have plenty of space in the bed for other accessories. It does come with these pads for your bed rails, to make sure they don't get any damage on them once the clamps are tightened down, and it also has these D links here, which can be used with the cable lock to help secure your bike to your truck bed. These do have ratcheting straps that hold your bike into place, and also have adjustable arms here, back and forth, to accommodate different sized bikes. The Velo Gripper is perfect and economical choice for people who don't have say bike racks or necessarily want to drill into the bed of their trucks for those fork mount bike racks that you can get as well.Now that we've gone over some of the features of the bike rack, let's go ahead and show you how it installs.



Curt Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2017 Ford F-250 Super Duty

Today on our 2017 Ford F-250 Super Duty, we're going to be test fitting the Curt 4 Bike Rack, part number C18086. We already have a bike installed on the rack. Let's take a closer look and show off some of the features. First off, one of the better features about this is the fact that this can tilt away from the vehicle with the bikes still attached, to gain either hatch access or in this case, tailgate access. To do that, you'll see at the front here we have two pins; a larger and a smaller. Loosen those up. You may have to maneuver the bike rack a little bit to get these out, then lower it down.



Hollywood Racks Trail-Rider Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2017 Ford F-250 Super Duty

Today on our 2017 Ford F250 Super Duty we're going to be test fitting the Hollywood Racks Trail Rider 2-bike rack, part number HR200. We already have a bike installed on the rack. Let's take a closer look and show off some of the features. The bike rack does have a nice raised shank to it, so for hitches that sit particularly low to the ground, you're not going to have an issue of clearance between your bike rack and the ground. It does grip your bike at three points. We're going to have two hook and loop straps on either tire.

Thule Truck Bed Bike Racks Review - 2017 Ford F-250 Super Duty

Today, on our 2017 Ford F-250 Super Duty, we're going to be test-fitting the Thule GateMate tailgate pad and bike rack for full-size trucks, part number TH824. This measures about 62 inches wide. We already have a bike installed, as you can see here, but it also has other uses, such as if you want to put your surfboards or stand-up paddle boards, you could set them on here as well. It does have these areas here, which you can use for tie-down points to secure your bikes to it, and the pad does provide protection between your bike and your tailgate to make sure that your vehicle itself doesn't get scratched up. Let's go ahead and take the bike off. It simply lifts out. It can carry up to two bikes total, and this is excellent for trucks that have the built-in toolbox up at the front so you can't put the truck-bed bike racks that we also carry at etrailer.com. How it connects We have these three straps that go underneath the tailgate and connect here. You just cinch them down.



Yakima HoldUp Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2017 Ford F-250 Super Duty

Today on our 2017 Ford F250 Super duty we're going to be test fitting the Yakima Hold Up two bike rack for two inch hitches, part number Y02443. We already have a bike installed on the rack, let's take a closer look and show off some of the features. One of the more interesting features about this bike rack is the fact that it can tilt away from the vehicle with both bikes still attached. To do that holding on to the bike rack, we'll come to the front with this red knob. You lift out and let it come towards you. Unfortunately with how close it is to the vehicle, you're not going to be able to open up your tail gate all the way because it will make contact with the bike. We'll just lift it back up into position until you hear that click.



Kuat Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2017 Ford F-250 Super Duty

Today on our 2017 Ford F250 Super Duty we're going to be test fitting the Kuat Transfer 2-bike platform rack for 1-1/4" and 2" hitches, part number TS02G. We already have a bike installed on the rack. Let's take a closer look and show off some of the features. Now one of the main features about this is the fact that it can tilt away from the vehicle with both bikes still attached. To do that you'll see this lever at the front here. Holding onto the bike rack, we'll push down on that and let the bike come forward. Unfortunately, though, we don't have full access to our rear tailgate here because it will make contact with the bike.



Softride Element-Parallelogram Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2017 Ford F-250 Super Duty

Today on our 2017 Ford F250 Super Duty, we're going to be test fitting the Softride Element Parallelogram Tilting 4 Bike Rack for 1 1/4" and 2" hitches, part number SR26248. We already have a bike installed on the rack. Let's take a closer look at the features. How the bike is actually attached to the rack, we'll have two points of contact with these two straps up at the top. We will also have this wheel strap that comes for all four bikes. Also, one of the more interesting features of this rack is the fact that it can tilt away from the vehicle with all four bikes still attached, which is very unique for a hanging style bike rack. We'll come to this lever here on the passenger side and pull out on it like so and let it come towards you.

Today on our 2017 Ford F-250 Super Duty, we're going to be test fitting the Swagman XTC4 Four-Bike Rack, part number S64665. We already have the bike installed on the rack. Let's take a closer look and show off some of the features. How the bike is held into place, we're going to have three points of contact. We're going to have two straps at each tire and a wheel cradle at each tire, which can be adjusted by loosening and tightening these knobs here to accommodate different sized bikes and to assist with loading. We also have a padded frame hook up at the top, and it's padded to make sure that your bike frame itself doesn't get scratched up once it's being installed. Let's go ahead and take our bike off and set it aside.



Pro Series Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2017 Ford F-250 Super Duty

Today on our 2017 Ford F-250 Superduty, we're going to be test fitting the Pro Series Q-slot four bike rack, platform style, part number PS63138. We already have a bike installed on the rack. Let's take a closer look and show off some of the features. First off, how the bike is actually held into place, we're going to have three points of contact. We're going to have this padded frame hook up at the top, which is padded to insure that your frame doesn't get scratched up once it's being installed. Then we have these hook and loop straps on each tire being held into place by adjustable wheel cradles. By loosening and tightening these nobs, you can move these up and down to accommodate loading and to accommodate bikes of different sizes. Right now we have it in a four bike configuration.

Today in our 2017 Ford F-250 Super Duty, we're going to be test fitting the Thule Vertex Swing 4 Bike Rack, part number TH9031XT. We already have a bike installed on the rack, let's take a closer look and show off some of the features. Now the most important feature about this rack is the fact that it can swing away from the vehicle to give you full access to your tailgate or your hatch, without having to remove the bikes, which is pretty unique for a hanging style bike rack. To do that, we'll come to the back first. We'll undo this knob here, unscrewing it all the way. Move this pin here as well, lift up on this pin, swing it out. So you have it almost about 90 degrees.

To do that we'll come to this pin up at the front. We'll remove that.

Let's take a closer look and show off some of the features. How the bike is attached to the rack, we're going to have three points of contact. We're going to have two hook-and-loop straps on either tire, and we're going to have this padded frame hook up at the top to ensure that your bike's frame doesn't get scratched up when it's being installed. One of the biggest features about this bike rack is the fact that you can tilt it away from the vehicle with both bikes still attached to get access to your rear tailgate. To do that, we'll have two pins and clips here at the base. We'll remove those and we'll let it come down.

We already have a bike installed on the rack, let's take a closer look and show off some of the features. How the bike is held into place, we're going to have one point of contact, and that's going to be this padded frame hook up at the top. Now it's padded so that the frame of your bike doesn't get scratched up once it's being installed. We also have these adjustable wheel cradles at the base which can move back and forth by loosening and tightening the knobs at the top, and this is to accommodate bikes of different sizes. We also have a nice raised shank to the bike rack itself, so even if your hitch sits particularly low to the ground, you're not going to have any clearance issues between the bike rack and the ground. Let's go ahead and take the bike off and set it aside.

Today on our 2017 Ford F250 Super Duty we're going to be test fitting the Thule Hitching Post Pro Folding Titling 4 Bike Rack, part number TH934XTR. We already have a bike installed on the rack, let's take a closer look and show off some of the features. How this bike is attached to the rack, we're going to have three points of contact. We're going to have two straps up at the top, and one off to the side, and that's going to serve as an anti-sway cradle to keep your bike from moving too far back and forth and making bike to bike contact. The cradles themselves are adjustable along the arms to accommodate loading and unloading. We also have these grooves on the cradles as well. So once your bike sets down, the frame won't be pushing against the cables.



Thule Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2017 Ford F-250 Super Duty

Today on our 2017 Ford F250 Super Duty, we're going to be test fitting the Thule Vertex 4 bike rack part number TH9029XT. We already have a bike installed on the rack, lets take a closer look and show off some of the features. How this bike rack grips your bike, it's going to have three points of contact with two straps up at the top and one strap off to the side, which is going to serve as an anti-sway cradle to keep your bike from moving too far back and forth and making bike to bike contact with the bikes in front of it. We also have an integrated cable lock up at the top of the mast. You pull that out, wrap it around your bikes, bring it up at the front and then lock it into place to secure your bikes to the bike rack. The cradles are movable to accommodate loading. They also have these groves in them so when your bike rests on here the cables can actually go into these screws, not be pressed up against the frame while it's being installed or crushed when it's being tightened down.
