Saris Trunk Bike Racks Review - 2018 Chevrolet Equinox

Hi everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer. And today, we'll be taking a look at the Saris Bones EX trunk-mounted bike rack, right here on our 2018 Chevrolet Equinox. The Saris Bones EX trunk rack series is probably one of my favorite if you do have to get a trunk-mounted bike rack. Because if you're a cyclist, the question is, how do you get your bike from where you live to the trails Your options for the Equinoxes is you could put it on the roof. Ideally, if you have a hitch, go ahead and get a hitch-mounted bike rack. But sometimes, you don't have a hitch, you can't get a hitch, your next bike rack option is gonna be this trunk-mounted rack.

Yakima Trunk Bike Racks Review - 2012 Chevrolet Equinox

Speaker 1: Today on our 2012 Chevrolet Equinox we're going to be test fitting the Yakima FullBack two bike rack, part number Y02634. This can carry up to two bikes, and we already have a bike installed on the rack. Let's go ahead and take a closer look and show off some of the features. We're going to start at the ends of the arms, here. At the end of this arm here, we have the patented Yakima bottle opener, which is pretty common amongst their bike rack. On the other end, however, we do have an integrated cable lock, which will wrap around the outermost bike and come back and attach itself here, and lock into place to secure your bikes to the bike rack once it's installed. The cradles, themselves, are stationary, meaning they don't move back and forth, or side to side, however they do have this TPE padding here, and that's going to act as a shock absorber while you're traveling, to help protect the frame of your bike.

Yakima Trunk Bike Racks Review - 2012 Chevrolet Equinox

Speaker 1: Today on our 2012 Chevrolet Equinox, we're going to be test fitting the Yakima HalfBack 2-Bike Trunk Mount Rack, part number Y02636. This can carry up to two bike. We already have one installed, so let's go ahead and take a closer look and show off some of the features. Starting at the ends of the arms here, on both ends we do have the patented Yakima bottle openers, as you would find on most of their bike racks, and then moving back to the cradles here, these are going to be stationary, meaning they can't move back and forth, but they do have this TPE padding here at the base, which is going to act as kind of a shock absorber for the frame as you're traveling, to help protect it. This also has the padding here at the base, as well as the bottom of our ZipStrips here, and that's again for the protection of your frame to keep it from getting any scratches on it once you're installing it or traveling. It's going to hold your bike at three points, so we're going to have two ZipStrips up at the top, and then one off to the side, and that's going to serve as an anti-sway cradle to keep the bike from moving too far back and forth and causing bike-to-bike contact. Now, one thing about these anti-sway cradles is they are adjustable, and if we push them up and out of the way, it makes loading and unloading the bikes much easier.
