Curt Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - 2"
A front hitch has got me out of a couple of trailer-backing jams so I wanted one on my new truck. I ordered the Curt which was a well-made product as was expected. I do have some installation comments: 1) The worst part of the process was drilling the hole in the skid plate. I didn't have a 4-in metal hole saw so I used a cut-saw with a metal-cutting blade. This required more work with a Dremel tool to clean the edges but it worked fine. 2) After I cut the skid plate I began looking at what else would require skid-plate removal. Besides some high-mileage maintenance it looked like wheel alignment and some steering system lubrication would require skid-plate removal. I thus chose to leave the skid plate off; I think the hitch would catch any low-clearance problem though a loose rock could still play havoc. 3) Three screws attach the tabs on the lower part of the plastic bumper assembly directly to inserts in the skid plate. Without the skid plate there is nothing to attach these tabs to. One hole will accept a 1-1/2" (about) bolt through the cross bar beneath the radiator but the other two will not. For now I zip-tied the tabs to the cross bar until I figure out a better solution. I could drill and tap the holes to accept a metric bolt but that will require removing the hitch again. I think the bottom line here is that the oil-filter hole fixes one access problem but there is a lot of other stuff under there that will require skid plate/hitch removal. I wonder if cutting the front end of the skid plate off would allow it to be replaced without removing the hitch?
This is my 2nd Etrailer.com front hitch - when my 06 Tundra was totaled, I replaced with 2018 Tundra, and immediately ordered a new front hitch. Tough call between Draw-Tite and Curt, but a quick call to Olivia at Etrailer.com solved that - she knowledgeably discussed 1) the tongue length of each, relevant to my needs for my surf rack, and 2) the construction of each. I chose the Curt as it fit right, and it's super heavy duty powder-coated (and made in the USA). I had Draw Tite on my first TUndra, and it worked flawlessly. I figured why not compare the two with the second one, so I did. The product arrived perfectly, quickly, and packaged properly. No dings on the box at all. The hitch itself IS super well made - you can feel how heavy the powdercoating is. I'm VERY happy I called, and happier still that I got Olivia, who helped me make the right choice. Install on my 2019 Toyota Tundra crewcab was SUPER easy - but you MUST remember to "measure twice and cut once" when you cut out the hole in the metal shield that protects the engine. I do recommend taking the time to unbolt that, measure it, inspect it, measure again, and compare THOUGHTFULLY to the diagram that Etrailer provides (super that they provide this - thanks, guys!). I got in a rush, so I have two nice holes in my skid plate - but no matter, the oil-change guy can now get to it without taking the plate off again. TRUST ME - whichever manufacturer you choose, buying it from Etrailer means no muss, no fuss, and RIGHT as rain every time. I'm a huge fan!

Easy Installation on my 05 Tundra, can be used with the stock splash guard/skid plate. Bolts up nice and solid. All hardware is included. Uses 4 stock (pre-existing) holes in the frame and then you have two drill two more. You have to fish two bolts through the frame tube, but the wire fishing tool is included and it was much easier than I thought it would be. I had to do some minor trimming off the edge of the stock skid plate. This was easy I just cut a tab about 6-8 inched long with tin-snips and folded/rolled the tab in about 1/2 inch deep. This allows full clearance for the hitch and plate. You can install easily in about an hour. The tow loops are a nice addition. Overall very happy with it and worth the money.
It's rad... Tiny more $than expected (was hoping for hundo vs 140$ in the end) Fits with my bull bar I use for road protection and has proved itself - just had to cut a hole for the hitch...

These is an excellent hitch at an excellent price. The install was easy and all the hardware that is needed is in the box. I chose the Drawtite over the Curt because the receiver end is a little longer. It' not even noticeable on the truck. I have a snow plow that attaches to the hitch. The Toyota cap shown in the picture was not included. The Tundra is a 2020 so I can confirm if fits.
Order came in on time, nicely packaged but could have been packaged tighter to prevent it from moving inside the box and parts showing outside the box.

A well constructed hitch. A piece of cake to put it on. Now I can guide my trailer into a tight spot in my back yard. Also able to my bike rack up front when I'm pulling my trailer.
Very quick shipping. Video instructions very helpful. This is my third purchase from etrailer.com. I recommend them.

Just what I was looking for. Thank you.
I ordered these two, front and rear for a 1990 GEO Tracker 4 wheel drive that I am rebuilding. I believed they would fit, I finally got around to mounting them and they don't fit, to large. I think I have had them to long to return them.

Needed a front hitch for a 2006 Ridgeline Honda truck. I found it on etrailer.com and a better price for same hitch on another online store. As I talked with the customer service agent, I was also offered a discount which was quite a surprise. Shipping was very fast. Had it installed on my truck so I could attach a mounting hitch and snow blade. I am extremely happy with this hitch and etrailer.com.
They asked for a review a year later, AWESOME! I love the front mount on my '13 Ridgeline for a snowsport "floating plow" I bought thru AgriCover. My Ridgeline plows the whole neighborhood now!!!

Great products, great prices, fast shipping and a great company to do business with. Easy install, and it took longer to trim the air dam than installing the hitch.
Terrible, they sent the wrong hitch and now want me to pay shipping for the return

Bolted right up to my 2019 F-250. Looks like it's going to work perfect to haul my E-bike rack. I might have to use a dual receiver hitch to drop the rack down for better visibility while driving. That's to be determined. I'd highly recommend the Eco Hitch!!
Fits 2021 F350 Diesel but with extensive mods to the Plastic Insert. 5 stars for weight ratings and overall build quality. 3 stars for installation hassle bc the plastic insert that needs to be slotted in my case needed to be cut back significantly and bracketry added which took extra time. Wish it came with 2 extra fender washers and a heads-up that the insert might need extra mods and brackets (see below). Did not have to move any coolers or cooling lines. 4 stars overall. Notes from the install. 1. Marked bumper brackets and supports to know exactly where it was installed by the factory. (Mine was off-center left/right by 1/4 inch so I centered it before cutting the slot in the plastic insert.) 2. Consider building some stands to help with the bumper removal/install and hitch install. Made a simple stand low enough to support the bumper and added blocks to install the hitch. (Also removed the front skirt before bumper removal.) 3. As other reviewers stated, had to shim one side of the hitch with 2 of the supplied fender washers as it was narrow by that amount. Had to purchase 2 additional fender washers. 4. Since other reviewers mentioned the slotting instructions needed improvement, more or less reviewed those and took them as recommendations. After hitch installation, test fit the bumper without the plastic insert. Then measured to the hitch. Then removed the bumper, installed the insert, and transferred the measurements to the plastic insert. 5. Found out during test fit after the slot was cut that the lower, back of the slotted insert had to be completely cut-off to fit. The insert needed to be flexed under the hitch so that the bumper to go back to the original position (see picture with notes). That flex would then warp the visible part of the plastic insert. Therefore, the section interfering was completely removed. Installed some brackets to support the lower section. The brackets proved to work well. That the hitch is stout, up high, and hidden is a plus. Will have to build or purchase a hitch adapter to drop the hitch about 7 inches for one of my uses but don't mind doing that. I recommend this hitch but keep in mind you might have the same installation challenges.

Relatively easy install. Just have to be mechanically inclined. We use the hitch to carry a fish rack/cooler on a 2011 Jeep Wrangler. So far so good.
I bought this receiver to add front mounted 'accessories' on my 2007 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sahara. I plan on using this to add an extra bicycle rack, a cargo basket, a receiver mounted winch or other 'accessories' needed for my Jeep when I take my family camping. It will also be useful for "front launching" a boat or parking a trailer in tight spots. It took me about an hour to install, although I had already previously removed the lower wind deflector cowling, so did not have to spend time removing it or cutting it for a finished look. Detaching and moving the top trim panel between the grill and the bumper is a must to facilitate the installation. The receiver fits pretty close, although you do have to manipulate it to get the holes to line up with the frame. Follow the instructions and do not tighten any of the bolts until you get it lined up and all the bolts in loosely, then torque it down. As noted in the instruction sheet, the driver's side of the receiver does not sit flush against the frame, there is about a 1/4" to 5/8" gap. The instructions say to use the extra split washers (in the kit) as filler, but they would just rattle around loose in there and provide any benefit, so I omitted them. Once tightened down, the receiver tube was not parallel to the ground, it is slightly higher in the front, sloping towards the rear. It is not off enough to affect my intended use, but may be bothersome to those with type 'A' attention to detail. Overall a good product that will add a lot of flexibility to my Jeep~

I chose Draw-tite because they are built very well and this one is no different. The welds are done well and I have no fear that this product will serve me well. The install wasnt to bad for a DIY type like me and the fit was excellent, only took a few hours. Knowing that I can now be pulled out of a bad situation or pull someone else out is comforting with the help of a hitch mounted winch. The Price was right and etrailer shipped it out fast although packing could use a smaller box . Oh yeah, UPS sure tested the toughness of this receiver ! . Great product and great service from etrailer
im very satisfied with my front receiver. ive used it as a recovery point,to move trailers, and as a mount for bike rack and cargo holder. if i had a winch platethat would be very handy too. etrailerhad a fair price, quick shipping, and overall great customer service. i would use them again andrecommend to a friend as well.

Fit nice. I haven't used it to move a trailer yet. I didn't have tow hooks and the factory ones are high so I paid the extra to get the hitch instead.
The product itself is great. One star deducted because 1) the wrong installation manual was provided. Credit to etrailer because once I notified them, they sent me the correct one within 24 hours. 2) A tremendously oversized box was used for shipping. Consequently , the item which is heavy as you would expect shifted during shipping and caused a huge hole in the box. Fortunately, the bolts were bagged and taped well to the item but this does give a slight passibility that the bolts could be lost in shipping.

Curt Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - 2"
Fits perfect and works just as I needed it to. I use it for my SnowSport plow set-up on a 2022 Gladiator Sport Max Tow. I’ve been using front receivers for this same plow for the last 24 years. It’s been used on 5 different trucks and this front receiver mount plow is the BEST. *** When installing on a Gladiator(possibly the Wrangler as well), the front plastic trim below the bumper needs to be cut for receiver clearance. I wanted a tight and “factory looking” install, so I took my time with a vibrating cutter and very sharp utility knife. After trying to put it back in place, the hole is not just square, it’s shaped more like. “T”. I suggest you make small adjustments/cuts as you go forward. It may take several times fitting and cutting to get it right and tight, but in the end it does look like it came that way from JEEP. On the Max Tow package, there is also a metal skid plate that does not get reinstalled. Unfortunately that piece is where the back of the plastic fascia mounts. I ended up securing it with some long heavy-duty zip-ties and it’s worked well for a year now. Just an FYI for those installing the same receiver on their same vehicle.
Installed real easy. Cuttingbthe plastic rock guard was the hardest part.

The hitch was easy to install. The only issue is who ever welded it put the front ring on and it's turned to one side. It functions fine but bothers my OCD.
Quality hitch and the excellent service all the way around I'm used to getting from etrailer over the years. Installed on my 2016 Sierra Denali 2500HD, note instructions say on first line down that it does not fit the Denali trim due to extensive fascia cutting required; actually it was quite simple with the aid of a 4-1/2" cutoff disk and a sawzall. Installation is much easier with two people. See attached pics for actual material removed, note the lower fascia need not be cut for the hitch to fit through the hole. Maybe more work to install than the Curt hitch, but well worth the additional ground clearance.

The quality and fit is exceptional. So much so that this is the third hitch assembly I've purchased and installed. This one was for my brother in-laws 1999 F350. I also put a 10k winch on a slider that works perfectly with this assembly. Other vehicles I purchased and installed assemblies on are a 2011 F350 and a 2016 Class C motorhome. Very happy.
Great receiver. Didn't actually fit my truck's front bumper, but I was able to make some spacers to get it mounted. Works great for the mounting spot for a rig that holds my kayak on top of the truck.

Very easy to install. works great for bike rack and generator box.
After struggling with the answering menu, Steve Z. was instrumental in locating a hitch to fit my van which was not specifically identified in any data search. Weird year, 2005, of popular Chevy Express van, my luck! Using manufacturers dimensions I purchased #31016 on 12/21 and it arrived on 12/24. It's a very well built, USA built, unit. It arrived rapidly, but was missing half of the mounting hardware. The remainder of the hardware was rolling around in the box. Zip lock baggie ripped apart spilling them. I used a hydraulic jack to elevate hitch into place, and an additional jack to push the drill up to drill the 6 mounting holes necessary. No factory hole alignment. All the nuts for the bolts were lost in transit, but by a Christmas day miracle, I found 2 metric nuts to fit supplied bolts that survived the delivery. I will acquire, and install remaining missing 4 tomorrow. The installation went smooth and easy using this technique. It took around 3 hours with much of the time searching for hardware.' Thanks Steve Z. and etrailer. .

How it was received; either is was mail destroyed or UPS did this in the process. No telling what parts are missing, waiting for UPS to come pick this and E-Trailer to send out replacement. I thought these product would be packaged better from the factory for shipping resilience.
Of the many hitch receivers I have purchased, the front mounted ones have never failed to surprise me of their usefulness! From bike racks, to carrier for coolers, to my chainsaws, gas and oil, they make it work. Recently while cutting wood for a hunting lease engagement, I put a second ball on the front and used it to drive a 16' trailer up a hill to get the wood where it was needed for offloading. Backing it up had resulting in damaged trucks, trailers and numerous attempts. Using the front hitch it was a one and done deal! Love it! I have even used it to pull trees over when felling. I don't have enough fingers and toes to count the uses! If you have ever thought about it, just stop and order! You won't regret it!

Install went perfectly. It all bolted up just how the instructions said it would. The hardest part was navigating your tools in the tight spaces. Having the deep sockets as suggested is definitely worth it. I was also able to utilize a cordless impact wrench and it helped a ton. This will work great for our bike rack.
This thing went on our 2013 Silverado 1ton truck without a problem. It did take two of us to hold it in Place to get the first bolt back in but other than that it’s been flawless

Road tested 4000 miles & off-road, Solid, Great ! I always wanted a front hitch, it is rad ! We had a great experience across the board. Ordered the front hitch mount and had a mechanic (Weld Tech/San Diego) install it, because they already had our van to install their lift kit. They charged me one hour labor. I can see that it fits well and is solid. We went on a 4000 mile adventure with a small motorcycle on the front hitch. etrailer has been a good source for for a few things now.
I own a 2003 Ford E-450 RV cutaway and wanted a front hitch to carry our bicycles since our rear hitch is used for a trailer. I originally tried to mount the equivalent Curt front hitch, because of its cheaper cost, onto the vehicle. However, the Curt hitch wouldn't work because it can't adequately accommodate the slight downward hump in the truck's frame. This hump can barely be seen between the two hitch mounting bolts. The hump is on both the left and right side frame rails on my vehicle. If your frame is not totally flat (has even a small hump) you cannot use the Curt hitch. The Curt's small indentation on its mounting flange will not adequately accommodate the frame's hump. This Draw-Tite hitch, 65001, mounted perfectly on my vehicle and the installation procedures I used were exactly as depicted in the etrailer video for the E350 van. In the video, the technician uses a rotary file to expand the rearward holes to allow the insertion of the bolts. I had to do the same thing and bought a rotary file for my drill at my local home improvement store for less than $3. I did not have to use the rotary file on the forward holes. In addition, I have the larger Roadmaster front sway bar and steering stabilizer and as you can tell in the photo, there is plenty of room for the hitch.

Review for truck front hitch receiver I finally Installed the front receiver hitch today, I pulled it out of its package and found all parts wrapped to the receiver hitch good call as there was a hole in the box. The license plate holder received some damage it was bent some. Installation. I reviews the video prior and read the instructions. Had to purchase a 4 inch hole saw and a torque wrench that added to the cost of the hitch. Installation was for the most part straight forward, when the video cuts from shot to shot I now know all the cussing and swearing are done during that time as it’s very difficulty to get the hitch in over/under the exiting hardware, solo installer took me 3.45 hrs to install, tight fit under the truck to maneuver under the truck. Bolts back into original tow hooks was a total Pain in the A$$ trying to hold up the hitch and the hooks while trying to maneuver the hold back in. (Had to take it out as I inserted on the wrong side) I will say that installation is doable by novice front yard mechanic but with a difficulty of 7 out of 10, trying to get the bolts torqued to specs is difficult due to clearance and angle of the bolts. Make sure you have deep well sockets because the new bolts for the hitch and long and a standard size socket will not be able to grip the nut as you tighten it down to specs. Put the bike rack on the hitch receiver and found that the hole that we drilled out to put the hitch in is not big enough. The bolt for the hitch goes in from the right and there was barely enough room to get it in the hole, used a wrench to tighten it but it was slow going, the other issue was that on the left side there is a hitch lock I struggled to get it on, but then could not reach in to remove the key. So final outcome was I had to drill out another 4 inch section of the bumper to get to the key. If your hitch has a bolt on bike rack like the swagman e-bike rack you want it to be secure so the bolt is a must this option may not be the best option. The bikes block the headlights so no night driving with the bikes on the rack. The handlebars need to be folded down otherwise the bikes will ride too high on the front and obstruct your vision. If I had to do it again I would have gotten the hitch that is lower and would not have to drill out my bumper, and it would have given me more visual clearance. I did take a shot drive with the bikes in front it will take a bit to get used to them being in the front as well as making wide turns while towing the RV that I don’t take out the car in front of me.
My friend installed the hitch and I helped . But mostly by staying out of his way!?? Everything worked out perfectly!!! Thank Y’all for the Great Service
