Yakima FrontLoader Roof Bike Racks Review - 2016 Toyota RAV4

Hey everybody, Zack here at etrailer.com. Today, we're taking a look at the Yakima FrontLoader on our 2016 Toyota RAV4. This is gonna be a really popular roof mounted bike rack, and not just in the wheel mounted style like this, but just overall. This is, I see this one going down the road all the time. And I think what people really like about it, is they don't have to take their front wheel off like a fork mounted style. Those provide maybe a little bit easier loading, because you don't have to get it as high.

Thule Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2016 Toyota RAV4

Ryan: Hey everybody, Ryan here at Etrailer. Today on our 2016 Toyota RAV4, we're going to be taking a look at the Thule Helium platform style bike rack. So today we're looking at the rack that can hold up to a total of two bikes. However, there's also a one bike version available, as well. So one of the main things that I really like about this rack, and what really separates it is the way it's going to secure your bike. So we're going to have two wheel hooks, one for each tire, and that's something you don't always see, a lot of times it's just one wheel hook and a small little strap, or something there at the back. This one would give me a little more peace of mind, especially with an expensive bike, knowing that it's really secure.

Yakima SwingDaddy Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2016 Toyota RAV4

Today on our 2016 Toyota RAV4 we're going to be test-fitting the Yakima SwingDaddy 4 bike rack, part number Y02464. We already have a bike installed on the rack. Let's go ahead and take a closer look and show off some of the features. The first and most prominent feature of this bike rack is the fact that it can swing away from the vehicle so you can gain rear hatch access with the bike still on the rack, which is pretty unique for a hanging style bike rack. To do that, we'll come to the back here and loosen up this knob, like so. Coming up to the front we'll pull up on the tab here, which will release it, then pull it out to about this position here and swing it around until you hear that 'click' and push it the rest of the way.

Swagman Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2016 Toyota RAV4

Today on our 2016 Toyota RAV4, we're going to be test fitting the Swagman XC2 bike rack, part number S64650. This will work for 1 1/4-inch and 2-inch hitches. We already have our bike installed so let's go ahead and take a closer look and show out some of our features. How the bike is actually attached to the rack, we're going to have one point of contact and that's going to be this padded frame hook up at the top. Now, it is padded so once you install your bike, it won't get scratched up. We also have two wheel wells on either side which are adjustable along the arms of the rack.

So I've already got it loaded up on the RAV4, just to give you a good idea of what it looks like and how it's going to hold our bikes. But one of its main features is it has the ability to tilt away from our RAV4 so we can gain access to our rear hatch. And that's with bikes loaded. What we want to do is we want to locate the lever right here in the center. Go ahead and pull it towards us.

I've already got it loaded up on our Rav4, with our bike loaded up as well; Just to give you a good idea of what it looks like and how it's going to secure our bikes. Then we have the straps going over our wheels holding that in place. All in all, not a bad way to hold our bikes when we're getting our bikes from A to B. Let's go ahead and take our bike off though.
