Thule Hitching Post Pro Bike Rack for 4 Bikes - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches
Easy to install, made a 1000 mile trip right away with no issues at all. I can open the liftgate on my Subaru Outback with about an inch to space when the back rack is up, so I just leave it that way. Solid, and really easy to get bikes on and off.
Hitch pin broke before I got it. Looks like a poor design for the locking pin, they might want to consider a different design. I got a 3/8 shear pin from Home Depot to replace and it works great. Bike rack is great!

Thule Passage Trunk Bike Rack for 2 Bikes - Hanging Style
This the rack you need if you have limited needs. It's easy to use and provides a safe carry for your bicycle. Used it about four times this past season and it was wonderful. I would definitely recommend it.

Swagman XTC2 Bike Rack for 2 Bikes - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Frame Mount
We own a 2015 Subaru Outback with a factory installed hitch. We purchased the Swagman bike bike carrier in Spring 2015 from etrailer.com. At first installation, I knew this was exactly the bike carrier I was looking for. The thick steel parts were easily assembled, and fit perfectly on the car. If mounted correctly, the bikes have more than enough clearance. With bikes dismounted, you are able to access the back hatch of the car by removing the pin from the mounting pole and moving the pole to the side. Very efficient. Since we ride most every day, the easy on and off allows us to drive to any bike trial with our bikes mounted safely and conveniently. One word of advice though, I make certain all bolts are tightened on the carrier before I mount the bikes. Quickly done, and the peace of mind is worth it. I definitely would recommend this bike carrier to any bike riding enthusiast.
I ordered this rack because it looked like it would fit the bill for my needs, which is occasional trips to local bike trails and short trips. After using it once, I'm sure it will work very well for me. I generally don't go for the bells and whistles stuff, just a solid product that fits my needs within my budget. This rack is very easy to put on my Subaru OB and fits on my newly installed by me Tork Lift Eco-Hitch. The only negative thing so far is that the pins are a little hard to push in, but I am hoping they will loosen up a bit, not much I hope, but just to make it easier to use. Otherwise, Etrailer responded to my questions quickly, and rack came when promised.

Swagman XC2 Bike Rack for 2 bikes - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Frame Mount
Easy to assemble myself using a Youtube how-to video. I don't attempt mechanical projects, but this was really easy. It's really a sturdy rack, exactly as pictured. Needed a drill for 2 small set-screws. The rack is fairly heavy, but with my own weight at 108lbs. and 5'1" tall, even I can lift and manuvere into position in the hitch. Ready to go. This was on back-order, but eTrailer staff was on-the-ball through out with status and shipping updates. Great service.
I recently ordered from Etrailer a two bicycle hitch rack for our 2017 Subaru Outback. The bike rack arrived promptly. The quality of the mount and ease of assembly exceeded my expectations and can also be easily adapted to our 2007 Yukon. I would like to also thank David the Customer Service Representative who answered my question about the unit during the ordering process. Great job Etrailer!

Swagman Upright Bike Rack for 1 Bike - Roof Rack Crossbars - Frame Mount
Great product, but difficult to managge with just one person loading and unloading the bikes. I have a subaru outback 2015, and it was a bit of a hastle to get my heavier mt bike loaded by myself, but I'm also only 5'3
Great product. Worked great for taking the boys bike down to the beach. Also great around town going to the bike trail.

Yakima FrontLoader Wheel Mount Bike Carrier - Roof Mount
Great rack! Many improvement over the current yakima product. Easy to install, easy to mount bike, everything quick to turn by hand-no tools necessary. May have to get another one.
Great product! Exactly what I hoped the rack would be, but be sure your order locks! They are not included by Yakama.

Rhino-Rack MountainTrail Rooftop Bike Carrier - Fork Mount
I've had this bike roof rack for 1 year and I'm happy to say that it was the right product to purchase. I've had no problems at all with the racks. I bought a pair for my Subaru Outback and had my bicycle repair guy install it for me. I feel secure in that it locks the bikes in place and keeps them sturdy on the roof. I'm glad I got the one where you remove the front tire of the bike. The other style would make it much to hard to remove the bikes from the roof. I usually put the bikes up and remove them with my wife and the aid of a small step stool. It's been really great riding with our bikes to our favorite bike trails. Would highly recommend Rhino for making such a great product.
I mounted this on my 2011 Subaru Outback in about one hour. The instructions were in error as in Step 1 it has you put on the end-cap first. But then you have to take the end-cap off in order to thread on the Wheel Strap. I mounted the bike (29 inch hard-tail) and it seems sturdy and secure. So far so good. Will it keep the bike on in Wyoming cross winds? This remains to be seen.

Swagman XTC4 Bike Rack for 4 Bikes - 2" Hitches - Frame Mount
So far I’ve just assembled it and took a quick test drive around the block. My initial thought is this thing is perfect. It’s super sturdy and easy to use. My only gripe and it’s not fault of the rack, but it’s heavy…
If you've done any research or read any of the other comments on either this rack, or this seller...rest assured they really are as good as everyone says! I ordered my rack on around 4pm est on a Friday afternoon and within an hour I received an email that said they have shipped my product AND upgraded to priority shipping. Can't say enough positive things about the customer service! When the rack arrived, it took me a little over half an hour to get it set up. Probably would e been faster if I were even slightly mechanically inclined (or if didn't I didn't have to borrow a socket wrench from my neighbor). We finally had an opportunity to load up the bikes and head out for a ride today. As others have said, the first time you load up your bikes, it's kind of like a puzzle to get them situated. Took about 15 minutes. This rack is awesome! Very sturdy and the bikes were very secure. Only racks I have had in the past were rooftop fork mount racks. This is so much easier! On e we got to the trail (over an hour drive) getting the bikes off was a piece of cake. Afterwards, it was time to load them back up and it was less than 5 minutes to get them all on and ready to hit the road. There were other 4-bike racks on the website, but this one had enough great reviews that I felt comfortable making the purchase. After the fact, I'm very glad I did! I can't imagine the $800 rack can be that much better than this, and I highly recommend this for anyone looking for a 4-bike platform rack. I will definitely recommend this rack and etrailer.com to everyone I know.

Yakima ForkLift Roof Mounted Bike Carrier - Fork Mount
Once I figured out that my factory crossbars *could be moved* everything worked (2009 Subaru Outback). If you happen to have fixed position crossbars, and your bike's wheelbase just happens to place the rear wheel exactly in the middle of the rear clamp, then it won't work (even if you get the free fix). The rear tire ratcheting tie down (wheel tray) can't be placed suitably close to the rear wheel for buckling. Also, the clamps don't *exactly* match the shape of my crossbars, so the gripping force is not spread out. I need a notch between the upper and middle notches, or a rubbery, compressible surface.
The clamps fit factory oval cross bars. No adapters necessary. Setup on my 04 Outback took 20 minutes.

Swagman Trailhead Bike Rack for 2 Bikes - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Tilting
Solid craftsmanship. Bikes are secure, easy placement in holders. Nice option of pulling a pin, allowing carrier to tilt, to access hatchback of a Subaru Outback wagon. Slight "side to side" movement when driving down the road however; maintains solid attachment to trailer hitch.
Just installed the rack & took the bike on a little ride... all worked great! Installation instructions could have been a little bit clearer, but I've seen worse.

Thule EasyFold XT Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Frame Mount
The Thule EasyFold XT Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes is outstanding! I am a sixty-something woman who loves to ride her e-bike. I am very happy that, by myself, I can attach the rack to the 1-1/4" hitch of my Subaru Outback, roll two bikes up the detachable ramp, secure the bike frames with the locking "jaws" and cinch straps, lean the loaded up rack backwards in order to access the "way back" of my Subaru. Best of all the rack itself locks to the hitch, so the whole apparatus, bikes and hitch, are safe and secure. And when storing it, simply wheel around it like a rolling suitcase on the attached pair of wheels. Best heavy duty bike rack ever! Adventures near and far await!
At age 70 our two new ebikes are bit too heavy for us to be lifting up onto our older Thule hitch rack. More importantly, the ebikes have fender, so the clamp-onto-the-tire holding style will not work. The EasyFold solves all those problems. A ramp to get the bikes up and down. A moveable clamping system that holds the frame solid. It lowers for access to the rear. It does not lift up when not holding bikes, but it does not stick out very far. And what is really cool, when off the vehicle it folds up like a little suitcase with wheels for easy storage and moving about. The tongue fits very snugly into my 1.25" receiver. Really well thought out, easy to use, solidly built. Great purchase.

Yakima HoldUp Bike Rack for 2 Bikes - 2" Hitches - Wheel Mount
The bike rack is awesome, well built and easy to assemble. The only issue that i have is that the product description says that these are suppose to have ratcheting straps to secure the tires and mine most definitely DOES NOT. Its not a big deal but still.
Rack is still going strong. The BackSwing attachment allows us to use this while camping, on road trips, etc. and we can access the back hatch on our Outback without removing the bikes. We use this for mountain bikes, as well as our heavy (65 lb) e-bikes. Very sturdy.

Kuat NV 2.0 Bike Rack for 2 Bikes - 2" Hitches - Wheel Mount - Gunmetal Gray
I have a great rack! (actually my wife does) I have 5 or 6 friends that use this rack and grew weary of throwing my bike on top of the Outback. Additionally my wife has become interested in venturing off on her own and cannot put a bike on top her outback. etrailer shipped promptly, and the product arrived in good shape, note: there were a few spots where the parts had jostled around in the box slightly and you could see some marring of the surface. This polished right out with a microfiber towel and mothers. There are a few minor nicks (I mean really minor) on the rack;but, they were there before being put in the factory packaging. Not enough to whine about just know the finish is great just not perfect. Speaking of the finish the color matches my Outback perfectly, it actually looks like an OEM Subaru thing. Fit is good using the Hidden/Drawtite hitch clearing the hatch while tilted back easily even with 800mm bars. The locking Hitch pin that comes with the rack is 1/2" diameter instead of the normal 5/8", fortunately the hitch mentioned above has a smaller 1/2" about 12mm aft of the 5/8" hole. The hole in the rack is 5/8" but do to the snugging system on the Küat the mismatch I'd of no consequence. Assembly is easy and someone with good mechanical aptitude should be able to do it in less than 10, an extra set of hands would be nice but aren't required. I built mine on an elevated bench and it was quick and super easy, admittedly I used power tools because I have them. I'm looking forward to the convenience of a tray.
I received the rack very quickly from eTrailer.com, faster than expected, which is always nice. Of course UPS beat the tar out of the box, but the rack was packed well and survived the abuse without a scratch. Assembly was quick and easy, 4 main bolts and 1 for the tilt release lever, that was it. This rack is built like a tank, I'm impressed with the construction and finish. Test fit my road bike (Cannondale Synapse Carbon) and wife's MTB (Cannondale Foray) in just a few minutes. Bikes fit well and felt very solid. Overall I'm a very happy camper and would highly recommend the rack and eTrailer.com.

Yakima RidgeBack Bike Rack for 4 Bikes - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Tilting
I bought a 2015 Subaru Outback and had a Subaru factory installed 1-1/4 hitch added to my purchase. I did not know at the time that Subaru designed the hitch to fit basically only their branded products. I went to several bike stores trying to find a 4 bike hitch supported by my Subaru. I even took some home and tried to get them to work and none did. I went on the internet and googled some solutions that were either completely wrong or was a solution by some engineer who customized the bike rack. Luckily I reached out to etrailer and spoke to their phone rep. He had heard about challenges with the Subaru hitch and recalled there were a couple of 4 bike hitches that would work. He said he would get back to me. In about a 1/2 hour I got an email about the Yakima RidgeBack. I was hesitant because so many had failed but with the free return policy I gave it a shot. I am not real mechanically inclined but in about an hour I figured out how to mount it on my Subaru (it takes less than 5 minutes now that I know how). I used the rack dozens of times, even hauling 4 bikes on it. This is the second product I have bought from etrailer and could not be happier. They are fast, responsive to questions, and get it right. I
It’s relatively heavy but super easy to install and use. No rattles from hitch or bike areas. Red Yakima stickers on the vertical beam are low quality, not firmly attached, and I expect them to peal off. Otherwise, very happy with the rack.

Swagman Fork Down Roof Mounted Bike Carrier - Fork Mount
Met all expectations! Great price and easily made the journey nice and secure atop my 2015 Subaru Outback. Pretty easy to mount up, I'm sure not quite as easy as the more expensive ones, but not difficult at all. For someone like me who will only occasionally use it, this is perfect.
Goes together quickly, appears that it will fit my needs in terms of being cross-compatible on a variety of vehicles. Fit on a Subaru Outback factory crossbar and transported bike locally with no issues when I got it out to set up and test (not quite warm enough to ride much yet where I live). Instructions are not super, but the assembly is pretty straightforward so that is not a problem. At the price point, if this rack indeed holds up to swapping onto multiple vehicles and lasts me a few years, I'll be thrilled with the purchase.

RockyMounts MonoRail Bike Rack for 2 Bikes - 2" Hitches - Wheel Mount
100% satisfaction!!
The rack came damaged and could not be assemble without first repairing the damage. The mounting bracket for one of the cross arms was bent (see photo) which prevented the cross arm from being installed. The bend had to be hammer out straight before the cross arm could be installed, which also cause the area of repair to need repainting. Otherwise, the rack appears to be functional and well built. The website specs for the rack list its weight as 38 pounds, but the actual weight is 45 pounds.
Thule Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2015 Subaru Outback Wagon
Zach: Hey everybody, Zach here at etrailer.com. Today, we're taking a look at the Thule Helium hanging style bike rack on our 2015 Subaru Outback wagon. This is going to be a really nice upgraded hanging style bike rack. What I like about hanging styles is they're a little bit more affordable, even for a higher end version like this one, but it gives us a little bit better ground clearance with our bikes, so we don't have a big platform hanging out. Now the downside to hanging style is it gets a little bit more crowded. The nicer frames, carbon frames, those aren't ideal for hanging style because one, you're putting a lot of pressure on the frame, but two, they're close and you might scratch them.

The rubber Mount has a channel inside for your brake cables to pass through.

Let's go ahead and take a closer look and show off some of the features. First off, we have this integrated cable lock at the end of the bike rack. You'll wrap it around the bikes, and then attach it to this point here, and lock it in place to secure your bikes to the rack. The cradles are padded, as well as the straps.
Thule Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2015 Subaru Outback Wagon
Today on our 2015 Subaru Outback Wagon we're going to be test fitting the Thule T2 Classic two bike platform rack for 2" hitches, part number TH9044. We already have a bike installed on the rack. Let's go ahead and take a closer look and show off some of the features. Our first and most prominent feature is the fact that this can tilt away from the vehicle with the bike still attached. To do that we'll come up to the front here and pull this pin so once we release this lever it actually will go all the way down. Then, releasing the lever, holding onto the bike rack, we'll let it come down like so, and now we have full access to our rear hatch and plenty of space on either side to get what we need. We'll lift it back up into position, like so, and then reinstall that pin. How this bike is actually attached to the rack, we'll have two points of contact and no frame contact at all.
Swagman Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2015 Subaru Outback Wagon
Today, on our 2015 Subaru Outback Wagon, we're going to be test fitting the Swagman Dispatch 2 Bike Platform Rack for 2" Hitches, Part Number S64684. We already have a bike installed on the rack, let's go ahead and take a closer look and show off some of the features. The bike itself is gripped to the bike rack by 3 points. We have a padded frame hook up at the top, and it's padded to make sure your bike doesn't get scratched up once it's being installed. Then we have these wheel straps on either wheels. Now the wheel cradles are adjustable on the arms of the rack by loosening and tightening the knobs here. They're adjustable to assist with fitting different size bikes as well as just fitting bikes in general onto the rack. The bike rack itself does have a raised shank here, so clearance is not going to be an issue between the bike rack and the ground no matter how low your hitch sits.
Softride Element-Parallelogram Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2015 Subaru Outback Wagon
Today on our 2015 Subaru Outback wagon, we are going to be test fitting the Softride Element Parallelogram Tilting 4 Bike Rack for 1-1/4 and 2" hitches, part number SR26248. We already have a bike installed on the rack. Let's go ahead and take a closer look and show off some of the features. Now the most prominent feature of this bike rack is the fact that this can tilt away from the vehicle with the bike still attached to give rear hatch access. This is pretty unique for a hanging style bike rack. To do that we have this black handle on the passenger side of the mast. You pull that out like so, let it tilt forward, and now we have rear hatch access to get whatever we need. It is far enough away that we have plenty of space on either side to do so. We will just push this back up into its original position until you hear that click. Now, how this is actually held in place, we are going to have to rubber straps up at the top to hold it down.
Pro Series Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2015 Subaru Outback Wagon
Today on our 2015 Subaru Outback Wagon, we're going to be test fitting the Pro Series Q Slot, Platform Style 2 Bike, 2 and 4 Bike Rack for 2" Hitches, Part Number PS63138. We already have a bike installed on the rack. Let's go ahead and take a closer look and show off some of the features. How the bike is actually attached to the rack, we're going to have 3 points of contact. We're going to have this padded frame hook up at the top, and it's padded to make sure that you're bike won't get scratched up once it's being installed. We also have these hook and move straps on both wheels to hold those in place and the wheel cradle themselves are adjustable by loosening and tightening these knobs here. The movable length of the arms and this is to accommodate different size bikes and to assist with loading. The bike rack itself has this nice raised shank that comes on up here so clearance is not going to be an issue between your bike rack and the ground.

Today on our 2015 Subaru Outback wagon we're going to be test fitting the Curt 4-Bike Platform Rack for 2" hitches, part number C18086. We already have a bike installed on the rack, let's go ahead and show off some of the features. The most prominent feature of this bike rack is the fact that you can tilt this away with the bike still attached. To do that, there are two pins here at the base. We'll pull the larger of the two pins first, lifting up slightly on the rack. Then we'll loosen up the smaller of the two pins.

The cradles themselves are padded and have these indentations here so your brake cables and such can actually fit through there without being crashed against the frame once you install your bike. They are padded as well so your bike will not get scratched and they are movable along the arms here. That's to assist with loading and with space in between the bikes. It grips your bike at 3 points.

I've already got it loaded up on the outback just to give you a good idea of what it looks like and how it's going to work with our four bikes. Real quick, right away, I want to point out one of its best features. It has the ability to swing out around to the side of our vehicle so we can gain access to our rear hatch. We'll start right here with our black lever.
Yakima HoldUp Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2015 Subaru Outback Wagon
Today on our 2015 Subaru Outback, we'll be doing a test fit on the Yakima HoldUp Platform-Style 2 Bike Rack. That's part number Y02443. I've already got it loaded up on the Outback just to give you a good idea of what it looks like and how it holds our two bikes. It actually holds our bikes with zero frame contact. We have this wheel hook going over our front wheel putting down pressure into the front wheel cradle, and then for the rear we have a strap going over the rear wheel and it rackets down into place, so that's going to be nice and tight. One of the best features about this bike rack is it has ability to tilt away from our vehicle so we can gain access to our rear hatch. Go ahead and make your way over to the center pin here, pull out, and then we can get into our rear hatch.

We're going to pull down and lift up on those straps, and then we can pull our bike off and set it off to the side. With our bike out of the way, we can take a few measurements.
Thule Trunk Bike Racks Review - 2015 Subaru Outback Wagon

We're going to have two straps up top here and one down here to the side, which is going to be an anti-swing strap, to keep it from going back and forth, possibly hitting the bike rack itself or the bike in front of it. Let's go ahead and take the bike off and set it aside. Now with the straps, once you take them off, it's always a good practice to put them back into place because you don't want to lose them while you're driving. All right. Now with that done, we'll go ahead and give you a quick measurement, and it's going to be how much distance is added with the bike rack actually installed on the back.

We're going to have 2 straps up top here, and 1 strap off to the side, which is going to act as an anti-sway strap to keep it from going back and forth, possibly hitting either the bike rack, or the bike in front of it. Let's go ahead and take the bike off, and set it aside.

It also has two wheel cradles here, now if you want straps for that you can go on to etrailer.com to find some, or use your own bungee chords, whatever you feel necessary to secure your bike.
Kuat Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2015 Subaru Outback Wagon
Today on this 2015 Subaru Outback Wagon we're going to be test-fitting the Kuat Transfer 3 Bike Rack, part number TS03G. The first feature we like to show off is its unique ability to actually tilt away from the vehicle with all the bikes already installed. To do that, there's this latch up at the front here you're going to push down with your hand, or, while holding onto the bike rack, push down with your foot. Let it fall down. Now you have access to your rear hatch to get whatever it is you need with plenty of space on both sides. To put it back up in its original position, you simply take the bike rack again-never the bike-push up, until you hear it click with it going back into place. Now it's secure.
Swagman XTC4 Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2015 Subaru Outback Wagon

We can fold down the center mast on the other two here when not in use. It secures our bikes in three spots. We have the hook going over the top tube here, putting down pressure into the two cradles, front and rear; and then we have our rubber straps going between the spokes, keeping our wheels in place. Let's go ahead and remove the bike.

Today on our 2015 Subaru Outback, we'll be doing a test fit of the Kuat NV platform-style tilting 4 Bike Rack. That's part number N105-107. I've already got it loaded up on the back of the Subaru just to give you a good idea of what it's going to look like. It secures our bike in two spots. We have a wheel hook up front here that puts down pressure into the cradle keeping the wheel in place and then we have a rear wheel strap going between the spokes of the rear wheel and then tightening down through the buckle here. All in all, there's no frame contact which is really nice as well. One of the main features about this bike rack is it can be tilted away from our vehicle with all four bikes loaded up. We'll come down here to this gray lever ...
Yakima FullTilt Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2015 Subaru Outback Wagon
Today on our 2015 Subaru Outback Wagon we're going to be doing a test fit of the Yakima Full Tilt Hanging Style 4-Bike Rack, part number Y02462. If you look up here, you'll see we already have our bike in place, and that's so you can see what it would look like once you have the cradle arms extended and everything in place as well as your bike. Let's start off by getting a few measurements. Our closest distance will be first, and that's going to be from this spot here to the back side of the bumper, at about 4 1/2 inches. Our overall distance that we've added to the vehicle, to the rear of the cradle arms here from the bumper, is going to be about 36 inches, and our ground clearance, from the bottom side of the tensioner and fin here, at about 10 1/2 inches. Now let's move up top and talk about the straps. You're going to have your zip strips that are going to be securing the frame of your bike in place. You'll have two on top which are going to act as your frame straps and then you're going to have the one on the side where your down-tube is for your seat post.
SportRack Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2015 Subaru Outback Wagon
Today on our 2015 Subaru Outback Wagon, we're going to be doing a test fit of the SportRack Ridge Swing Hanging Style 4-Bike Rack, part number SR2415. As you can see, we already have our cradle arms extended, with the bike in place, so you can see what it would look like once you have everything in place and installed with your own bike on it. First things we're going to do is get a few measurements. That first measurement is going to be from our closest distance first, which in this case is going to be from the front of the T-handle and tensioner here to the back side of the bumper. It's going to be just over 2 inches. About 2 1/16 inches.
Curt Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2015 Subaru Outback Wagon
Today on our 2015 Subaru Outback Wagon we're going to be doing a test fit of the Curt Premium 4 hanging style for a bike rack part number C18064. As you can see we've already got our bike up here and in place so you can see what it would look like once you have yours all the way fully extended and with a bike on it. It does come with that nice design where it's going to offer the most stability for two large bikes and two small bikes if you have children's bikes as well, or it's going to be good for all four of the same bikes. But it's just going to come with that shorter cradle arms up top to do so. Now that we got that, let's go ahead and move down and we're going to talk about a few measurements first. Our first measurement is going to be down here on the front side where our shortest distance is. That's going to be from the front of the T-handle bracket to the back side of the bumper.
