Saris Thelma 3 Bike Rack Review - 2013 Ford Edge

Today on our 2013 Ford Edge we'll be test fitting the Saris Thelma hitch mounted 3 Bike Rack for inch and a quarter inch, 2 inch hitches, part number SA4239B. We'll begin our test fit by sliding the shank of the bike rack into the opening of the hitch. After lining up our pin holes we'll thread in our anti-rattle bolt, tighten it down using a wrench, and then secure with a clip on the other side.With the bike rack secured we'll go over a few clearance measurements to see how the two fit together. Closest part of the bike rack to the closet part of the vehicle is about 2 inches away and we've added about 12 and a 1/2 inches to the overall length of our Ford. 3We can now remove the gold pin at the base of the bike rack and fold down the platform. With the platform down we have about 15 inches of ground clearance. Closest part of the bike rack to the closest part of the vehicle is about 3 inches away and we've added about 36 inches to the overall length of our edge. With the platform down you can see that we do have access to the rear hatch.



Softride Hang2 Tilting Bike Rack Review - 2013 Ford Edge

Today on our 2013 Ford Edge, we'll be test fitting the Softride Hang2 Hitch Mounted 2-Bike Rack, part number SR27041. We'll begin our test fit by sliding the shank of the bike rack into the opening of the hitch. After lining up the pin holes, we'll thread in our anti-rattle bolt, and tighten it down using the wrench. With the bike rack secured, we'll go over a few clearance measurements to see how the two fit together. We have about 11" of ground clearance. Closest part of the bike rack to the closest part of the vehicle is about 2-3/4" away, and we've added about 21" to the overall length of our vehicle. To load up a bike, we'll need to remove the two silver pins at the top of the mast. This will allow us to swing the top bar of the bike rack out. When unfolding the top bar of the bike rack, you want to make sure that you keep a steady hold on it, as it could slide back and hit the back of your vehicle. After lining up the holes, we'll then re-insert the silver pin to secure it in place.



Softride Element Hitch Mounted Bike Rack Review - 2013 Ford Edge

Today on our 2013 Ford Edge we'll be test fitting the Softride Element Parallelogram Hitch Mounted Hanging 4-Bike Rack, part number SR26248. We'll begin our test fit by sliding the shank of the bike rack into the opening of the hitch. After lining up the pin holes, we'll thread in our anti-rattle bolt and then tighten it down using a wrench. Closest part of the bike rack to the closest part of the vehicle is about four and a half inches away and we've added about 13 inches to the overall length of our Ford. We can now lift up on the yellow levers on the upper left and right hand corner of the back rack. This allows us to slide the arms off the grooves, onto the smooth part and raise the cradle arms up.



Saris Axis Tilting 2 Bike Rack Review - 2013 Ford Edge

Today on our 2013 Ford Edge, we'll be test fitting the Saris Axis Hitch Mounted 2 Bike Rack For 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches, part number SA832. We'll begin our test fit by sliding the shank of the bike rack into the opening of the hitch. After lining up the pin holes, we'll thread in our anti-rattle bolt, tighten it down with a wrench, and then secure it with a clip on the other side. With the bike rack secured, we'll go over a few clearance measurements to see how the two fit together. We have 11" ground clearance. Closest part of the bike rack to the closest part of the vehicle is about 5" away, and we've added about 13" to the overall length of our Ford. We can now loosen up the black knobs on the upper left and right hand corner of the mast. This will allow us to slide the cradle arms off the grooves onto the smooth portion of the rack. We'll raise the cradle arms up and slide them back over the grooves.

SportRack Super EZ Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2013 Ford Edge

Today on our 2013 Ford Edge we'll be test fitting the SportRack Super EZ platform style two bike rack, part number SR2901LR. We'll begin our test fit by sliding the shank of the bike rack into the opening of the hitch. After threading in our anti rattle bolt we'll tighten it down with a wrench and secure it with a lock on the other side. With the bike rack secured, we'll go over a couple of clearance measurements to see how the two fit together. We have about 13-1/2 inches of ground clearance. Closest part of the bike rack to the closest part of the vehicle is about nine inches away, and we've added about 24 inches to the overall length of our vehicle. To access the rear hatch, we can pull the three black pins at the base of the bike rack and tilt the wheel cradles down as well as the mast. As you can see, we can easily gain access to the rear hatch.



Thule Helium Aero Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2013 Ford Edge

Today, on our 2013 Ford Edge, we'll be test fitting the Thule Helium Aero Hitch-Mount 2 0:05 Bike Rack for 2 inch hitches, part number TH9042. We'll begin our test fit by sliding the shank of the bike rack into the opening of the hitch. Yakima ForkLift Roof Mounted Bike Rack Review - 2013 Ford Edge

Today on our 2013 Ford Edge we're going to be test fitting the Yakima Forklift Roof Mounted Bike Carrier, part number y02098. Now our Ford Edge is already equipped with a Yakima roof rack system so we're going to mount our Forklift directly to those crossbars. To do this we'll remove the skewer from the head of the bike rack first. We'll open up the clamp at the head of the bike rack and fit it around our front crossbar, and then we'll tighten it down with the t-bolt and wing nut. We'll slide the cover back into place and then we can reinstall our skewer. At the back we'll need to slide the clamp over our rear crossbar, and again tighten it down with the t-bolt and wing nut.



Thule Apex 4 Swing Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2013 Ford Edge

Today, on our 2013 Ford Edge, we'll be test fitting the Thule Apex Swing 4-Bike Carrier, Part Number TH9027. Now to begin our test fit, we'll simply slide the shank of the carrier into the opening of the hitch, lineup our pinholes, allow the integrated hitch pin to fall into the hitch holes and turn the black knob to engage the anti-rattle device. Now, with our two-way Apex Swing secured to our Ford Edge, we'll go over a few clearance measurements to see how they fit together. We have about 13 inches of ground clearance. Closest part of the carrier to the closest part of the vehicle here at the rear bumper is about three inches. With the cradle arms folded down, we've added about 11 inches to the overall length of the vehicle. We'll now pull the grey lever at the top of the mast to swing the cradle arms out, and with the cradle arms out, we've added about 34 inches to the overall length of the vehicle.To load the bike, we'll undo the cradle straps, place the bike into the frame cradles and secure with the straps. To access the cargo area, we'll unscrew the black T-handle at the base of the carrier and then lift up on the black T-handle with a gold post.



Thule Apex 4 Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2013 Ford Edge

Today, on our 2013 Ford Edge, we'll be test fitting the Thule Apex 4-Bike Carrier for 1-1/4 and 2-inch Hitches, Part Number TH9025. To access the cargo area, we'll lift up the gray handle at the bottom of the carrier to tilt the mast down. This will allow us to have access to our cargo door.



Swagman Titan Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2013 Ford Edge

Today on our 2013 Ford Edge, we'll be test fitting the Swagman Titan 4-bike carrier, part number S63410. To begin our test fit, we'll slide the bike rack shank into our hitch, line up the hitch pin hole, and then go ahead and install and tighten down our anti-rattle bolt. With our bolt tight, we can now go ahead and go over a few clearance measurements. We have a ground clearance of about 12-1/2". With the bike rack in its folded position, we've added about 19" to the overall length of our vehicle. Now we can go ahead and lift up on the liver at the bottom of the mast to take advantage of the tilt feature of this bike carrier.



Yakima FrontLoader Roof Bike Rack Review - 2013 Ford Edge

On our 2013 Ford Edge, were going to be test fitting the Yakima Frontloader Roof Mounted Bike Carrier, part number Y02103. Our Ford Edge is already equipped with the Yakima roof rack system, so were going to go ahead and mount the frontloader directly to the crossbars. Well take the carrier and set it up onto of our crossbars, well fit the head of our bike carrier around the front crossbar and use the hand knob to tighten down the clamp and then well take the clamp on the rear and slide it over our rear crossbar using the T-bolt and included wing nut to tighten it down. With that done our bike rack is now secure to our roof rack and were ready to load up our bike. We want to make sure that the front wheel loop is up and open and that our rear wheel strap is open as well. Well then pick up the bike and sit it in the carrier.



Yakima DoubleDown Ace Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2013 Ford Edge

Today on our 2013 Ford Edge we'll be test fitting the Thule Raceway Trunk Mounted Two Bike Carrier, part number th9001. Now to begin our test fit we'll first need to refer to the Thule Fit Guide or the included instructions to determine what number our Fit Dial should be at. According to the Thule Fit Guide our Fit Dial should be set at nine.After setting our Fit Dial we'll place the carrier onto the vehicle. Again, referring to the Thule Fit Guide it states that our lower arm of the carrier should rest at the bottom of the license plate well. We'll go ahead and put the top hooks to the top part of the trunk above the spoiler and then we'll put the bottom hooks to the bottom part of the trunk.You may need to open up the cargo door to get the bottom hooks in place. Now we can go ahead and turn the knobs on the left and right hand side of the carrier to tighten down the straps to secure the carrier to our vehicle.



Thule Passage Trunk Mounted Bike Rack Review - 2013 Ford Edge

Today, on our 2013 Ford Edge, we'll be test fitting the Thule Passage Truck-Mounted Two-Bike Carrier, Part Number TH910XT. Before we begin our test fit, we'll first need to refer to the Thule fit guide or the included instructions to determine what number or fit dial should be set at. After getting our fit dial, which in this case is nine, we'll set the carrier on to our vehicle.We'll go ahead and put the top hooks to the top part of the cargo door above the spoiler. The bottom hooks to the bottom part of the trunk and the side hooks to the side part of the trunk, just a little bit above the taillights. You may need to open up the cargo door to position the bottom hooks in place. Once you have all the hooks in place, we'll then go ahead and tighten down each strap to secure the carrier to our vehicle. Once we have the carrier secured, we're ready to load up our bike.

Today, on our 2013 Ford Edge, well be test fitting the Thule Double-Track Platform Style Two-Bike Carrier for 1-1/4 and Two-inch Hitches, Part Number TH990XT. To begin our test fit, well simply slide the shank of the carrier into the opening of the hitch, line up our pinholes, thread our anti-rattle bolt through the pinholes and tighten with a wrench.Now, with our two-way double tracks secured to our Ford Edge, well go over a few clearance measurements to see how they fit together. Thule Domestique Roof Bike Rack Review - 2013 Ford Edge

Today on our 2013 Ford Edge we'll be test fitting the Thule Domestique Fork Mounted Bike Carrier, part number th513. To begin our test fit we'll let the head of the bike rack directly over the front load bar. We can then use the clamps to go underneath the front load bar and bolt it down using the Allen bolts and wrench provided with the bike rack.After tightening down the head of the bike rack we'll move to the back. We'll bring the clamp around the rear load bar and secure it again and using the Allen bolts included with the bike rack. Now we can go ahead and re-insert our skewer into the head of the bike rack. With our skewer installed we'll undo the rear wheel strap and get ready to load our bike.We'll place the front fork of the bike directly into the skewer and tighten it down.
