Best 2013 Chevrolet Traverse Cargo Carriers

I have only taken it for a test drive so far, but it seems very sturdy and is exactly what I was looking for. The shipping box was in rough shape, and there were some minor scratches on the paint in one corner, but nothing worth fussing about.

I ordered this cargo carrier for my 2012 Chevy Traverse (along with the hitch receiver and cargo bag) for my recently completed family vacation. I wanted to wait until I got back before I wrote a review so I could give accurate info on the products. First of all, my items were received within 3 days of placing my order so I was already off to a good start! Assembly/installation took about an hour and the items came with detailed, clear instructions and all necessary hardware. I stored all of our camping gear (8-man tent, queen size air mattress, double sleeping bag, 3 self-inflating single air mats, 3 regular sleeping bags, 5 camp pillows, and a large plastic tub containing a camp stove, cookware, etc.) in the cargo bag and loaded it onto the carrier. It all fit nicely and there was a bit of room to spare. It was also below the tail lights of my vehicle so I didn't need additional lights for the carrier itself. (I did remove my license plate and used the bracket to attach it to the carrier...you'll need your own nuts/bolts for this.) There are canvas straps supplied with the bag, however, I just used 3 ratchet tie-downs that I already had and it worked fine. I also ordered the anti-rattle locking hitch pin which was $20 well-spent...I didn't have to worry about anyone stealing my carrier and it there was virtually no noise from bumps in the road. I chose to go with this carrier rather than a roof-mounted carrier for two reasons. 1) I think it was MUCH easier to get stuff in and out of without needing to stand on something or constantly reaching over your head. 2) The effect on my overall gas mileage was negligible as compared to something on top of the vehicle encountering all that wind resistance. I put 6200 miles on my vehicle over the span of a 4-week roadtrip from Ohio to California and all of these products performed exceptionally. No problems whatsoever and no worries. I also bought a trailer light kit, all from E-trailer. The directions for each item were clear and easily understood. I used all items during a trip to Columbus, OH from Iowa and everything worked perfectly! Zero problems and I noticed no impact on fuel economy. After getting to our destination, I unloaded the cargo carrier and folded it 90 degrees up and drove around town - very convenient feature! Spend the little extra money and get the fold-up version. Get the cargo bag as well! Very durable! Also, the customer service and delivery Etrailer has was spectacular! Everything was shipped in a timely manner and received with no issues. Very much appreciated the quick delivery of my order - thank you! My husband assembled the carrier and it seems like a good sturdy product. Unfortunately, a severe illness in the family forced us to cancel our vacation and we have not had an opportunity to use the hitch & carrier yet.

Trailer hitch was fast to install and done in like twenty min . The cargo was Easy to put together and installed Like it so far going camping loading it up with gear .

The sport rack has become very handy in our family vacations thru the year. Is very steady and as of now it had withstand rain, snow and high wind. our new use to the sport rack is that every time we go for vacation we put a decal of the places we visit, I am very please with the product, and I don't have picture of it. I installed the sport rack on a 2012 Chevy Traverse, so is a little high on the roof, but gave us the space necessary for a family of 6.

Our SportRack cargo box has worked as hoped / advertised since we bought it over a year ago. What initially attracted me to this particular product was the size and design - it holds A LOT, and the way it opens from the back has helped protect our stuff from getting wet and damaged.

I ordered this on a Monday and it was shipped (free shipping) from MO to MA and I had it on my door step by Friday ! It was Very easy to attach to our vehicle (2018 Chevy Traverse) , my husband was able to do it by himself. We used it the next day to go to the beach and it worked out wonderful! It will fold up to get out of way when unloaded. Will also tilt down with the load on so we can open back hatch. This is perfect for us and the price was very reasonable!

Excellent product. Carried two coolers and two large plastic totes with room to spare. Plenty of tiedown options. etrailer videos are a big help with assembly.

Very easy to assemble but it did not fit in the upright position on my 2011 Chevy Traverse. The license plate is in the bumper and the sides of the carrier impact the bumper on either side of the license plate when folded upright. The sides of the license plate are molded plastic that protrude from the bumper to house the lights for the plate. The simple fix was to bend the sides in a bit. That solution was better than trying to figure out how to extend the carrier further from the bumper to allow for another inch of clearance. The bend was easy using vice grips as the sides are aluminum. For the price and the 2X/year that I'll use this for beach chairs or extra luggage it's fine despite the fact it was not a perfect fit. What I like best is that it folds up and that it is very lightweight. It would be easy to stow on the roof rack if parking is tight or just to get it out of the way when accessing the trunk. And it'll come in handy if I ever have to haul the mower or blower to the shop since it's low ground clearance makes for easy loading and will keep my vehicle's interior from getting dirty. It would be nice if it came with a license plate holder that could be used in both flat and upright positions. I'll drill holes in the sides to mount the plate. A notice should be included to ensure that the license plate is not blocked from view when in use. We are driving to FL again this year and our concern is that Barney Fife will hassle us for an obstructed view of the plate. Last year we used a turtle top carrier but it is so high up on an SUV its impractical for quick trips to the beach. This carrier will be great for the cooler and sandy beach chairs and stuff. I'm thinking a large mesh utility bag to help keep all the stuff contained and make securing the load easier would be a nice extra. Last, it shipped on time and the order was complete with an additional item , a hitch lock, that all arrived in perfect condition. You need a lock for this b/c it is so light it'd probably be gone if you left it unlocked in a parking lot. Ordering was very easy! Thanks E-Trailer

I've taken one 1500 mile trip so far with the Yakima RocketBox Pro 14 mounted on my RAV4. I found the box to be quiet and not to have much impact on gas mileage. I lost maybe 1 mpg with it mounted to my flush mounted Whisperbars. I drove through some very heavy rain and had a minimal amount of water inside under a thin rubber mat I had placed on the bottom of the box; none on my luggage got wet. This box works great to give me more carrying capacity when traveling with my two crated Dobermans.

Terrible build quality , crooked label, lock /latch does not work unless I remove backplate, after a couple times of opening and closing rivet came off latch. For $[XX] would think bettet quality. Seems like Harbor Freight

This was purchased off of the etrailer.com website as a "damaged" item at a significantly reduced price. The description on the website described the damage very well and the cargo box has no functional issues of any kind. Also, the cargo box arrived much earlier than I anticipated. Furthermore, when I noticed that the box arrived with the load securing straps missing I emailed etrailer customer support and they had Thule send me two new ones right away. Couldn't be more pleased with etrailer and this cargo box. It fits my 2014 Honda CRV with factory crossbars with just a little bit of rear hatch interference (restricts opening by maybe an inch or two, but can still fully use the rear hatch). Can't speak to durability quite yet as I've only used the cargo box a few times to transport skis and snowboard and plan to use it year-round for road trips. A really great, simple cargo box!

This was a much needed addition for a drive back to Tucson, AZ from a three month stay in Portland. ME, as we had acquired some extra things and needed more space than our 2015 Honda CRV provided. This fit on top of the rhino vortex aero roof rack I also purchased from e-trailer perfectly. The cargo box functioned as expected, and although we ultimately could have used a slightly larger cargo box, this one worked great for giving us extra space in our car for the drive home. It was easy to mount and opened easily, although it was a bit tricky to load, a step ladder would have helped. It was tough to close, we had to move some stuff around to get it to latch, but I appreciated that it would not lock unless the latches could fully engage, which made me feel like it was going to remain closed while traveling. We wasted no time putting stickers on it, and added more along the drive home, which was fun. We traveled through many different types of weather, it was late spring and was rainy in the beginning of our trip, and very hot towards the end of our trip, and the contents were in perfect condition when we arrived home. There was zero water damage inside, and nothing was damaged from being in the heat. Of course there was some reduced gas mileage and added road noise when traveling, but nothing too unbearable. Also, service and shipping from etrailer was excellent.

I am very pleased with the quality for the price.Just the right size for my 2017 Chevy Trax.the "U" bolts that are used to clamp the basket to the roof cross bars were a bit long so I cut them shorter & installed rubber caps on top of each stud. This keeps the studs from damaging items in the bssket.See pictures.

The reason I bought this basket is due to gas prices. I have a 4X4 suburban I use for camping and hunting but it takes a small loan to fill up the tank. Actually this basket cost less than it does to fill it up. So my thought was if i can get all my gear on my daily driver then i could save some money and maybe even sale the burb. So i gave it a shot last weekend. The rack was easy to put together. I had it out of the box and on the roof in under 30 minutes. As you can see in the pic, i have a rather large ice chest, chain saw, 6 man tent, gas stove and my chair on the roof. My camping destination was about 3 hours away. First was a hour of highway driving at speeds around 70. No issues there. Then 2 hours of windy back roads. No issues there either. The basket made it possible for me and my two kids to load up in the car and head to the hills for three days. The plus for me was it only takes 50$ to fill up the car. :-) I had the max weight in this basket with no issues. I'm very happy with this basket.

Greetings, I am giving these items 3? Because I was offered alternative products that did not fit together. Originally, I intended to purchase a roof rack cargo basket type and a spare tire holder from Yakima manufacturer that go well together, but one of them wasn’t in stock. So, after 3 weeks waiting time, I was offered alternative items via etrailer website, and I accepted them…after all, they are the experts. I got the recommended items through UPS, then I assembled them by myself. The roof rack cargo basket fit well on my car, but the spare tire holder was not compatible with the roof rack cargo basket. They couldn’t be assembled together. I submitted my claim to return the spare tire holder. Now, I have not achieved my goal to carry my spare tire. Understanding the needs and expectations of your customers is critical to maximize customer satisfaction. I am sure both products are good, but they are not compatible together, even though they were manufactured by the same company. Distributors should know better! I returned one item and I hope to be refunded.

Great product. Easily puts together and I was able to install on our 2016 Toyota Highlander OEM roof rails with no problems. The mounting brackets slide to make for a easy fit. Have taken it on two long road trips with zero issues last summer one to the montains and one to the beach. Was able to fit our jogging stroller on in the basket. Had some heavy rain on one trip and seen no signs of water getting into the rails as that was a concern of mine when researching the different racks. The high sides allowed for easy tie downs for the weather bag we put the stroller in. Seemed to add a little road noise with nothing in it but that is to be expected when hauling things on the roof but the wind deflector seemed to keep the noise down. Easy to put on and off with a single person able to lift it. Great product, great fit for the car. Plan on using it for some more upcoming trips.

First, I'd like to commend etrailer.com for the efficient, damage-free shipping mode they wisely selected. The carrier contacted me to complete the delivery, and the shipment tracking was very helpful. Second, the sturdy and well-designed Yakima Skybox was easy to install, out of the box to the ATV roof racks, with easy-to-understand instructions resulting in a perfect installation.

Exactly as advertised. Well built. The adjustable clamps were simpler to use than I had expected and make it easy to adjust the position of the box on the vehicle or to move it between vehicles with differently spaced cross bars. I'm very happy with the purchase.

We were very happy with our Thule roof rack. The low profile design works well and does not have too much wind noise compared to others I’ve had. It’s held up very well also through the seasons.

Love my new Thule canyon xt roof cargo basket!! Fits on my 2022 Toyota Prius Nightshade, it was easy to assemble!! Shipping was awesome came in quicker then I expected!!

Great Product! It fits my Chevy Traverse like a glove. I wouldn't want anything bigger. It easily holds two large suitcases plus a couple of smaller duffel bags. Attaching it to the car crossbars takes only minutes and the locking latch to open it is amazing. It makes the car about 7'-4" tall. I forgot about it and drove through a 7'-0" parking garage and hit the ceiling. It flex enough that it didn't break but I still wouldn't advise trying it for yourself.

I was hesitant to spend this much money on a cargo box that won't get used but a couple of times per year but I'm glad I did!! The quality of this box is excellent and it is really, really easy to mount. It is a bit awkward to carry for one person but with the help of another person it's very easy to carry and put on top of the car. The gloss black looks really nice and sleek. The 16 cubic foot capacity really opens up space inside our car and will make longer road trips much more manageable and comfortable. Being able to load the box from either side is a game changer! I also really like how it locks and how it has a notification if all latches are not engaged. As of writing this review, I have not actually tested it loaded or at highway speeds but I'm very confident it will perform as expected. Now I have to figure out how to store it!!

I love the rack and the extended length is great on my Sequoia. I am disappointed with the finish on it as the connector plates are already showing signs of rust….. I like it enough that I’m going to repaint it with something more suited to our climate…

The rack and extension arrived in sturdy boxes, well packed and no damage in shipping. The parts fit together easily. The welds left something to be desired, which is why I gave it only 4 stars. As a precaution against corrosion,I got some plasti-dip, which is a rubberized vinyl sealant and sealed all the places where moisture could get into the various tubes of the rack. I was satisfied with the quality of the powder coating on all the parts. The mounting system to the roof rack is interesting and appears well-designed. The assembly and installation instructions are OK, but could have been written better. For example, there is an extra tightening knob for the U-bolts, but no description if it is there as a spare.

We love our Thule rooftop box. It's a great accessory to our Honda Pilot, and made our frequent skiing & camping trips a lot easier. Quality is superb. For its size, it's actually relatively easy to mount (takes two people to lift it up). Loading/unloading requires standing on the frame of the car and is also easier with two people.

Fits great on a 2022 MDX. Great to pair with the Thule ceiling mount. Easy enough for kid to lower!
