Today on our 2011 Ford Escape we'll be test fitting the Yakima Doubledown Ace Four Bike Carrier, part number y02451. We'll begin our test fit by sliding the shank of the carrier into the opening of the hitch, lining up our pin holes and inserting the pin with the red knob into the pin hole. We'll finally turn the black knob at the back of the shank to engage the anti-rattle device securing our Doubledown Ace to our Ford Escape.We'll now go over a few clearance measurements to see how the two fit together. We have about 17 inches of ground clearance at the rear of the carrier. The closest part of the carrier to the closest part of our Escape is here at the rear bumper about eight inches away. With the cradle arms folded down we've added about 14 inches to the overall length of the vehicle.We'll now pull the red lever at the top of the mast to swing the cradle arms out and with the cradle arms out we've added about 36 inches to the overall length of the vehicle.



Kuat Sherpa Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2011 Ford Escape

Today on our 2011 Ford Escape well be test fitting the Kuat Sherpa platform style aluminum two bike carrier, part #S102. Well begin our test fit by sliding the shank of the carrier into the opening of the hitch, lining up the pin holes, inserting the pin to the pin holes and secure the lock on the side. Well then turn the black T-handle at the back of the shank to engage the anti-rattle device. Now that our Kuat Sherpa is secured to our Ford Escape well go over a few clearance measurements to see how the two fit together. We have about 21 inches of ground clearance at the rear of the carrier with the platform folded up. Closest part of the carrier to the closest part of our Escape is here at the rear bumper about five inches away. Weve added about 16 inches to the overall length to the vehicle. To lower the platform well flip out the gold lever at the base of the carrier to tilt the platform down. With the platform folded down we have about 27 inches of ground clearance to the rear of the carrier.



Yakima StickUp 2 Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2011 Ford Escape

Today on our 2011 Ford Escape, we'll be test fitting the Yakima StickUp Platform Style 2 Bike Carrier, part number Y02420. We'll begin our test fit by sliding the shank of the carrier into the opening of the hitch. Line up our pin holes, thread our anti-rattle bolt to the pin holes, and tighten with a wrench. A quick tech tip: You will need to push the rear bumper in a little bit as when using a wrench and threading your bolt in, the bolt and the plastic of the rear bumper do come in contact. Now that our Yakima StickUp is secured to our Ford Escape, we'll go over a few clearance measurements to see how the two fit together. We have about 19 inches of ground clearance at the rear of the carrier.



Thule Hitching Post Pro Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2011 Ford Escape

Today on our 2011 Ford Escape, we'll be test fitting the Thule hitching post pro, part number TH934XTR. We'll begin our test fit by sliding the shank of the carrier into the opening of the hitch, lining up our pin holes, threading our anti-rattlebolt through the pinholes and tightening with a wrench. Quick tech tip: you will need to push back on the plastic rear bumper to prevent the bumper and the wrench coming in contact. Now with our hitching post pro secured to our Ford Escape, we'll go over a few clearance measurements to see how the two fit together. We have about 20 inches of ground clearance to the rear of the carrier. Closet part of the carrier to the closest part of our Escape is here at the rear bumper, about 9 inches away.



Thule Helium Aero Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2011 Ford Escape

Today on our 2011 Ford Escape, we'll be test fitting a Thule helium aero two bike carrier, part number TH9042. We'll begin our test fit by sliding the shank of the carrier into the opening of the hitch, allowing our integrated hitch pin to fall into place and turn the block knob to engage the anti-rile device, securing our Thule helium to our Ford Escape. We'll now go over two clearance measurements to see how the two fit together. We have about 23 inches of ground clearance at the rear of the carrier. Kuat Beta Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2011 Ford Escape

Today, on our 2011 Ford Escape, we'll be test fitting the Kuat Beta hitch mounted, aluminum two bike carrier part number B202-114. We'll begin our test fit by sliding the shank of the carrier into the opening of the hitch, lining up our pin holes, inserting the pin through the pin holes and securing it with a clip on the other side. We'll then turn the black T-handle at the back of the shank to engage the anti-rattle device. We'll now go over a few clearance measurements to see how the two fit together. We have about 20 inches of ground clearance at the rear of the carrier. Closest part of our Beta to the closest part of our Escape as here at the rear bumper about seven inches away and we've added about 15 inches to the overall length of our Escape. We'll now pull the silver pin at the top of the mast to swing the cradle arms our and with the cradle arms our, we've added about 27 inches to the overall length of our Escape. To access the cargo area, we'll pull the silver pin at the base of the carrier to tilt the mast down. As you can see, we can easily access the rear hatch of our escape. To load the bike, we'll make sure the mast of our Beta is in its upright position. We'll undo the cradle straps, place the bike into the frame cradles and secure with the straps. That completes today's test fit for the Kuat Beta hitch mounted, aluminum two bike carrier, part number B202-114 on our 2011 Ford Escape.



Hollywood Racks Traveler Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2011 Ford Escape

Today, on our 2011 Ford Escape, we'll be test fitting the Hollywood Racks Traveler four bike carrier part number HR8500. To begin our test fit, we'll slide the shank of the carrier and to the opening of the hitch, lining up our pin holes, thread our anti-rattle bolt through the pin holes and tighten with a wrench. Be careful when tightening with the wrench as you will need to push back on the plastic bumper to prevent the bumper from coming in contact with your wrench. Now that our Hollywood Racks Traveler is secured to our Ford Escape, we'll go over a few clearance measurements to see how the two would fit together. We have about 17 and a half inches of ground clearance. We've added about 12 inches to the over length of the vehicle. We'll now pull the black pin at the top of the mast to swing the cradle arms our and with the cradle arms out, we've added about 35 inches to the overall length of the vehicle. To access the cargo area, we'll pull the pin at the base of the carrier to tilt the mast down. This will allow us to have access to our vehicles rear hatch. To load the bike, well make sure that mast is in its upright position.



Hollywood Racks Road Runner Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2011 Ford Escape

Today, on our 2011 Ford Escape, we'll be test fitting the Hollywood Racks Road Runner three bike carrier part number HR310. We'll begin our test fit by sliding the shank of the carrier and to the opening of the hitch, lining up our pin holes, inserting the pin through the pin holes and securing with a lock on the other side. Note, the lock, when it's secured to the pin will be touching the plastic part of the rear bumper. Now that our road runner, secured to our Ford Escape, we'll go over a few clearance measurements to see how the two would fit together. We have about 18 inches of ground clearance. We've added about 13 inches to the overall length of the vehicle. We'll now pull the pin at the top of the mast to swing the cradle arms out and with the cradle arms out, we've added about 31 inches to the overall length of the vehicle. To access the cargo area, we'll pull the pin at the base of the carrier to tilt the mast down.



Swagman Titan Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2011 Ford Escape

Today on this 2011 Ford Escape were going to do a test fit of part #: S63410 from Swagman, the Titan 4 bike carrier. A few things to know about this bike rack that it will work with inch and a quarter receiver hitches both class 1 and class 2. This will also work with 2 inch receiver hitches with the included spacer and thats what well be working with today. Well start off our test fit by installing the bike rack into the hitch, then well go ahead and tighten down the anti-rattle bolt and put the safety clip on the other side. Following that well go ahead and get some clearance measurements. From the bumper to the bike rack our clearance is going to be 10 inches.



Thule Parkway 2 Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2011 Ford Escape

All right, today on this 2011 Ford Escape, were going to do a test fit of part number TH958 from Thule, the Parkway 2 Bike Carrier. One thing to know about this bicycle rack is that it is designed for 2-inch receiver hitches only. Now, well start off our test fit by installing the bike rack into the hitch and then well go ahead and tighten down the anti-rattle bolt and then get a couple of clearance measurements. Our clearance from the security cable loop to the bumper is going to be 4 inches. Ground clearance is going to be 14-1/2 inches. Now well go ahead and tilt the bicycle rack out of the way and check the access to the back of the vehicle.



Thule Doubletrack Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2011 Ford Escape

All right, today on this 2011 Ford Escape, were going to do a test fit of part number TH990XT from Thule. This is the Doubletrack Bicycle Rack. A few features about this bike rack that it is designed for 1-1/4-inch receiver hitches, both class I and class II and this will also work with a 2-inch receiver hitch with the included spacer. Thats what well be working with today. Now, well start off our test fit by installing the bike rack into the hitch and then well go ahead and tighten down the anti-rattle bolt and install the lock on the other side. Thule Vertex 4 Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2011 Ford Escape

Today on our 2011 Ford Escape, we will be test fitting the Thule Vertex 4 Hitch Mounted Bike Rack, part number TH9029. A quick note about this bike rack, it will fit in either 1-1/4-inch or 2-inch hitches. With our vehicle equipped with a 2-inch hitch and our bike rack pre-assembled, were ready to go ahead and fit it to the vehicle. Well simply slide the bike rack shank into the hitch. Well line up the hitch pinhole and insert our anti-rattle bolt. Well then tighten it down using our 3/4-inch wrench.



Thule Apex 4 Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2011 Ford Escape

Today on our 2011 Ford Escape, well be test fitting the Thule Apex 4 Bike Carrier, part number TH9025. A quick note about this bike rack, it will fit either 1-1/4 inch through 2-inch hitches class I through class III. However, when using on a class I hitch, you are limited to two bikes. Our bike rack is already pre-assembled so were ready to go ahead and fit it to the vehicle. Well simply insert the bike rack shank into the hitch. Well go ahead and pull the integrated locking hitch pin.
