Expert Answers about RV Air Conditioners

  • Which Will Blow Colder Air an Advent 15k BTU AC Unit or Atwood
  • 50 degrees is a great temperature for an AC system to put out. The difference between a 13.5k and 15k AC unit though is not so much temperature as it is the volume of air it can put out at that temperature. The Advent systems don't have as great of a reputation for putting out the coldest air so for a 15k btu system instead I'd recommend the Atwood part # AT15025-21 for a non ducted application or the # AT15028-22 for a ducted setup. You'll get the higher volume of air at a colder temperature.

  • Will Atwood Air Command Also Control Furnace
  • The Atwood Air Command Rooftop RV Air Conditioner w/ Heat Pump # AT15028-22 will not work a separate furnace with its remote. It is an AC unit which has a heat pump that can be controlled, though this heat pump works by pulling air in and converting its cooling system to a heating system. There is an Atwood Air Command available without a heat pump, part # AT15027-22, if you do not need the heat provided by the unit you referred to. Both of these Air Commands are for RVs that have a...

  • How to Determine if Advent Air Replacement RV Air Conditioner Will Work With Dometic AC
  • The model number of your Dometic AC unit itself isn't actually how to determine compatibility, it will actually be the relay kit with the pin. So you will be able to use the Advent Air Replacement RV Air Conditioner for Dometic Setup # ACDOM150B (Black) or # ACDOM150 if your Dometic relay kit is Analog Model 3107541.009 or 3107541.017, or if it is the Comfort Control Center Model 3109226.005. Additionally, if you have one of the older analog model relay kits that is a different model,...

  • What Size Generator Is Needed to Use the Advent Air RV Air Conditioner
  • The Advent Air RV Air Conditioner with Ceiling Vent and Start Capacitor part # ACM135BC requires 3,000 watts for starting and 1,000 watts while running therefore a 2,000 watt generator would not be suited for this or any RV air conditioner for that matter. Instead, I recommend the etrailer Portable Inverter Generators part # 333-0002 which has a 3,200 watt starting and 2,900 watt running power output. This will give you enough power to start and run the air conditioner as well as power...

The most similar kit we have is the Atwood Air Command Rooftop RV Air Conditioner w/ Heat Pump # AT15028-22 which is a similar BTU unit at 15,000 BTU and comes with a heat pump like you are wanting. The Atwood units have a great reputation for blowing cold air too so this will work well for you. The weight of this is 97 lbs. The Furrion part # F15PA12SASA-W weighs 100 lbs.

  • Will Advent Air Replacement Rooftop RV Air Conditioner # ACDOM150 Use Dometic Analog Thermostat
  • The Advent Air Replacement Rooftop RV Air Conditioner # ACDOM150 includes the AC unit which connects directly to your Dometic wiring as well as the Start Capacitor # ACMSCKIT. This means that you will just remove your current unit and set this one in its place. The Start Capacitor keeps enough charge to start your AC unit which is great for times when the starting draw of the AC unit might exceed the output of the campsite. This unit uses your existing Dometic ceiling vent and thermostat.

  • Generator Recommendation for Powering Atwood Air Command Rooftop RV Air Conditioner w Heat Pump
  • I attached a wiring diagram for the Atwood Air Command AC Unit part # AT15028-22 that you referenced for you to check out. The wattage requirement for this is 4,830 watts for starting so you'd need a generator rated higher than that. For that amount of wattage you'd need a generator setup like the etrailer.com Parallel Generator kit part # 333-0002-2-0007 which can support up to 6,000 watts drawn. • The Advent Air RV Air Conditioner part # ACM135 does not come with any sort of integrated start capacitor but this can be added using the Start Capacitor for Advent Air RV Air Conditioners part # ACMSCKIT. The start capacitor will bring down the amps required to start the unit which will help ease the strain on your generator as well as when you have it hooked up to shore power. I highly recommend adding one as it is a very cost effective, worthy investment.
