Your best option is to test the wires you have found using a circuit tester such as # PTW2993. If you alternate the dome light on and off while testing, you can identify the correct wire.
It is also possible to tie into the switch at the door that allows the dome light to come on when the door is opened.
And a third option is if the dome light is on its own fuse, you could tap in at the fuse location as well. But if the dome light shares a fuse with anything else then the running board... view full answer...

Since auto makers are not always consistent with wire colors used in production your best option is to test the wires you have found using a circuit tester such as # PTW2993. If you can have a helper switch the dome light on and off while you test you can identify the correct wire.

If the light you choose is a 2-wire design like the Thinline Opti-Brite LED Interior Strip Light, part # ILL71CB, you will have a White wire and a Black wire.
The Black wire would be attached to your 12-Volt power source, and the White wire needs to be grounded to a clean metal surface.
To be able to use this light and have it controlled by the dome light you will need to attach the Black wire to the wire between the dome light switch and the dome light. view full answer...

There are a couple of places you can get the correct circuit to use to wire up the third brake light and dome light for your camper shell.
You can use the stoplight switch at the brake pedal of your 2012 Dodge Ram 1500. You will need to use a circuit tester like our part # PTW2993 to probe the wires and find the one with voltage only when the brakes are applied.
You can also use the CHMSL circuit on your fuse box. For the dome light you will want to run a wire straight from the vehicle... view full answer...
I can certainly say that is a unique issue that I have not heard before. However, I suspect the wiring on the trailer is what is causing the odd lighting funcion. The trailer may be wired correctly according to the manufacturer but that does not necessarily mean it matches what is on the tow vehicle. Generally speaking, the interior dome light on a cargo trailer will be ran to a separate battery on the trailer. If the trailer does not have a seperate battery then it will be ran to the 12... view full answer...

The only way you could power interior dome lights on a trailer without it being connected to a tow vehicle would be to power the lights with a battery like a breakaway battery.
How you choose to wire up the batteries will in the end be up to you, but since breakaway batteries need to be charged up when you are towing I would be careful not to drain the battery with the dome light. view full answer...
The light in enclosed trailers like your dome light are typically powered by the 12v power pin on the 7-way connector.
In your 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 that would be fuse number 63 in the engine bay fuse box so check to make sure that fuse is in place and not blown.
If it is not blown then check that the 7-way connector on both your trailer and vehicle do not have any debris or corrosion that can cause power to not make it to the light.
Lastly if the connectors look good then use... view full answer...
